Raku

Raku was a love at first sniff for me. I instantly upgraded to full bottle. Raku feels like a zen moment in a bottle. It kicks off with bright lemon and just a touch of black pepper—enough to make it interesting without being sharp. Then you get this soft, green fig with clary sage, not sweet at all, creamier and herbal, which balances the citrus so well. As it dries down, it turns into this clean, skin-like scent with cedar, ambroxan, and white musk. It’s smooth, a little sensual, and stays close to the skin—quiet, but it lingers in such an elegant way.

This is what Another 13 smelled like to me when I first got it, and now that I am anosmic to my own signature scent, Raku is what I see myself wearing till I grow anosmic to it <3 And the cycle continues. Beautiful skin scent. Intimate and creamy. More of the feeling you get after unearthing a freshly fired pot rather than the hours spent staring at the kiln. Edit: Currently wearing this more often in the cooler months. The pepper note is a blissfully warm layer during the autumn season. This is now my signature fall scent.

I don't find any association with raku. At opening I smell fresh lemon, cologne like. Immediately thereafter some faint cedar, and the lemon goes forgood. No figs, no musk. I suspect this fragrance is full of synthetic molecules that I can't smell. This fragrance is rather simple to my nose, and I can't find any interesting development. Too bad because I love fresh long-lasting crisp lemon colognes.

Such an unusual take on fig, not green at all, very woody, and heavy on ambroxan, which I generally don’t dislike. Very well blended, like many others from Les Bains Guerbois, it opens with an almost creamy citrus, that paired with the cedar wood gives that new furniture smell to the scent, the fig is lovely, only slightly sweet, perfect. This is one of my favourites from the brand.

On me smells like dusty fig mixed with woods. Something very Parisienne about it . It is very beautiful. Who wrote here that it doesn t last, his nose is broken or something. On me last all day and I can smell it very discreet the next day , even tho I took a shower. I had a perfume who reminds me a little bit of this one .Beau de Provence -Fragonard.

The smell is clean and cold. It’s a bit powdery, but not too sweet because of citrus and pepper. One could say smell is quite simple, yet it’s not so straightforward. It’s like simplicity and fanciness in one. For some reason I imagine Raku is the smell of japanese aristocracy :) However, I can never smell this perfume on my clothes later in day or next day, like with other perfume. Also sillage is quite weak.

Sadly doesn't last, but a very good, versatile and dunisex fragrance. I don't think you can offend anyone wearing it and it's appropriate for any occasion. Not groundbreaking but it's good. Maybe overpriced for its longevity and sillage.

To me this smells really interesting, I mostly smell ambroxan, cedar and pepper (later I get a ~whisper~ of something fruity/sweet, maybe the fig or the sage?), and it smells dry (not the kind that chokes you out) and somehow wet at the same time. At first, when not thinking about the notes, it smells like a dry cork to me, and soon changes to wet clay, which to my nose is actually really interesting and enjoyable😅. A bit later it seems to change more towards the fig-sage side. It sits really close to the skin on me, can’t speak on the longevity, as I started testing this only an hour ago on skin. Also take this with a grain of salt, my nose is still under training. It is dead on unisex, I’d wear it in spring and summer. I ordered the discovery set and got the additional 3 samples of their last fragrances that are not originally in the set, I can only recommend, I liked quite a few of them, and the rest was still enjoyable/interesting.

I get what everyone here is saying about the "dusty" feel of this fragrance. I think it's due to the musk + pepper combo. God, does the pepper stand out on me! It makes me want to sneeze. There's a slight acidity to it, along with something sweet to accompany it. There's also a woody component (it might be cedar I'm detecting) that lingers faintly in the background, which would've been great had it been more prominent. To recap: Spicy + Sweet + Salty + Acidic Whoever is claiming this reminds them of Another 13 should test again. Another 13 is my favorite scent and it's not remotely close to anything Raku has going for it (to my disappointment).

Meh Not my style, too old school for me it’s just a cologne with sprinkle of dust smell

What I got from this was a very cheap and synthetic laundry musk. The lemon top note isn't sharp or sour, and was in no way refreshing. Together with the fig, they made something very sweet and almost powdery. It's a dry scent. The notes seem to reveal themselves at the same time, giving the impression of a wall of scent, something pale and opaque, sweet without being gourmand, and piercingly sharp without being green. Expecting something lighter, I sprayed it on my wrist and sleeve about three times, and it lasted without much change for a day or two, even on my skin after a shower. Made me think of CK One. Smells like it should cost a tenth of the price. I got a persistent headache the whole time. It's not complex or unusual like other scents from this house; I like the name and concept, but the execution was closer to pass-produced cafeteria plates than anything raku.

This fragrance is quite unique in the sense of smell. This is what ”standard” french perfumery should smell like. If the Italians are the king of ”Colonia” type smells. Then the french are king of clean/musky smells. This is it, non-offensive, musky, intimate fragrance. I appreciate for what it is, but not my cup of tea. Try it before you buy it!

Interesting opening with a burst of fresh lemon that devolves into what to my nose smells like an Ambroxan-centered fragrance like Another 13. It’s a shame. The name is great but the fragrance doesn’t capture the smokey, fiery intensity of a Raku firing.

Heavy on the ambroxan. I can't really smell anything else because for me it takes over most fragrances that contain it.

I smell dusty wood, totally unisex but not my style also dissipates quickly
