La Dame Aux Camelias

This fragrance opens beautifully. The opening hour is a genuinely majestic olfactory experience - addictive in a way often associated with designer fragrances, yet still maintaining a distinctive niche character. I haven’t encountered anything quite like it. Performance is solid overall. Longevity is good, though the composition becomes less complex as it moves into the heart and early drydown. As the honeyed sweetness recedes, the violet becomes more prominent but slightly less balanced, losing some of the tension that makes the opening so compelling. Even so, the fragrance maintains a soft, elegant sillage that remains very pleasant close to the skin. Any sense of disappointment comes only in contrast to the brilliance of the opening and early transition. Overall, this is an excellent fragrance - the opening alone feels masterful and arguably justifies reapplication, especially given the relatively fair price point compared to many niche offerings. The composition presents florals in an unconventional way, supported by a subtle creamy-powdery heart that smooths some of the sharper floral facets. Rose is clearly present, but contextualized differently than expected, reading less traditional and more abstract within the blend. The overall effect is light and airy, almost fresh despite a gentle sweetness. A delicate fragrance with impressive balance and refinement.

I am searching everywhere for a full bottle of this beautiful concotion. It has the perfect amount of honey and violet to complement each other without being cloying. It makes me feel very feminine - I've been endlessly sniffing my wrist from the decant I received from a good Fragrantica friend. I have really fallen in love with it, but can't find it anywhere! 😞 PS - found it and purchased a large decant!

I bought a large sample of this from Scent Split. Anything to do with our Lady of the Camelias, I've got to have it! I even have a Barbie doll I've made up to look like Alphonsine Plessis (her real name). The perfume is very nice; it's soft and sweet; a bit powdery. I can't recall make out any one scent in it, but it's nice and I do like it, even without the connection to sweet, doomed Alphonsine.

The honey is a nice addition which tones down the violet but doesn’t last long. The dry down is purely violet and powder notes. Very feminine and elegant and not too obtrusive.
