Ambre Suprême

Finally getting a chance to review this new Les Indémodables. This one is definitely a grower as the entire line proved to be for me especially if you are expecting BIG, BIG, performance or in your face complexity and raunchiness. No. Here is minimalist elegance. A Ballet rather than an Opera. A trip to Yosemite park rather than a trip to Disneyland. I have worn this for a couple weeks to give myself time to understand and reflect on what Ambre Suprême was and what it meant to me. My first wearing was strange I guess I wasn't feeling so enthusiastically about my day and I wanted something angry, brooding and contemplative to wear. Testing Ambre Suprême was probably not the best fit. It started beautifully sandy, savory and fresh like the smell of hot sand by the ocean and that's all I remember. I was impressed but not what I wanted at the moment. It was a good day finally. Breezy, cool, temperate, leaves fluttering in the wind yes, perfect! I felt optimistic and free-spirited, young-at-heart and I had been thinking about the next best time to try Ambre Suprême again and thought "why not now". I dug out the sample and tried Ambre Suprême again... Wow... This is magnificent stuff... Once again a savory and sandy explosion that has surrounded my personal space. I am digging my feet into the sand of a secret Island and the warm ocean breeze is blowing lightly into my face. A warm, sweet, sparkling, fatty and briny perfume. Leathery, complete and balanced with almost indistinguishable nuances of a fresh herbal clary sage, and syrupy, spicy, immortelle. It is smoothly blended. Blended to only the standards Les Indémodables can. Nothing like I've smelled before, not even a vintage Chypre at all maybe closer to a vintage Musk although those are much denser than this. I couldn't attribute any correlations to anything I've tried, vintage or modern, because even when testing things side-by-side that I thought smelled like this were different. My expectations were for something raunchy and musky and I will admit I was upset, but I have discovered I love it even more for what it does do. In Ambre Suprême, this ambergris is sparkly, sweet, powdery, a little salty and leathery. A happy Ambergris, perfect for cool days and seasons like fall and winter and maybe sparingly in the spring. It has push but it isn't loud so some may claim poor performance which is actually quite opposite from the truth as this fragrance has significant staying power however not as powdery and diffusive as Musc Des Sables. Wears more like a "second-skin" type of Ambergris. In fact "Sand Musk" would've been a fitting name for this creation rather than that one. Personally I would've switched the names. I like this more because it is slightly leathery and plays with the contrast between savory and sweet. But the more I think about it the more I find Musc Des Sables and Ambre Suprême are cousins. It is genderless by todays tastes, a beautiful ambergris musk. I will use this to bring me out of the cold and into a warm embrace of sweet briny musk and sparkling sand. Another masterpiece from the brand. 🐳🏝🧂 10/10 Edit: So I have taken out my bottle of Areej Le Doré Baikal Gris as a reference since that has real white ambergris in it... Ambre Suprême has the same dank, fatty, buttery, profile indicative of ambergris that is present in Baikal Gris in fact Baikal Gris was the first fragrance I thought about when smelling Ambre Suprême but they do not reference one another at all besides the fact they both contain real ambergris.

Amber Supreme certainly announces itself. The opening notes release a blast of an extremely salty and extremely fetid sea water (or whale vomit) accord that is either going to dominate your piqued interest or make you hang your head and say “oh no, what have I done. This was a mistake.” But, after a few minutes, we all can just calm down, relax, and enjoy what is an extremely pleasant ambergris-heavy golden amber. That’s really about it, actually. Ambergris literally translates into “gray amber”, and you can clearly smell it against the backdrop of the traditional golden bronze balsams, vanillics, and resins because it smells... well... gray. It’s definitely animalic in the musky sense; it smells like it was evacuated from an animal. The grayness also presents as a slightly sweet mineral type note, like freshly ground gravel rock pulled from the earth or a riverbed. As it should. What sperm whales cough up into the ocean from the digestion of their snacks are the terpene-heavy lubricants for the sharp and nasty bits - e.g. chitin constructed beaks, “teeth”, and “bones”, which is the most abundant aminopolysaccharide polymer on Earth. Ambergris has always smelled like this, and always will until sperm whales evolve to do something else (or humans ruin them and their ecosystem). What makes Ambre Supreme novel is... well... nothing. Except that, until now, we haven’t been able to smell this gray amber for a very, very long time. So many people who love this perfume would think it is a completely boring perfume had they been born two or more generations ago. But, here we are. It’s precious because it’s given something back to us that we dearly love and thought was lost forever. It’s therefore hard for me to objectively assess Ambre Supreme because it seems unfair by my own rules to rate it highly on originality; this template is extremely old, and Ambre Supreme hardly does anything new for an amber - gray or not - that hasn't been done hundreds if not thousands of times before. But for the scientific prowess that went into replicating to near-perfection that which we thought was lost forever and cannot naturally have back, I have to give it full marks and full respect. I own this perfume not because I think it, itself, is amazing, but because I want to make sure that somewhere in my collection is a representation of a long-lost and never to be recovered material that transformed modern perfumery by leaps and bounds. I am breaking another one of my own rules and choosing to own a museum piece, simply because it was recreated so precisely and faithfully, that I can actually afford it, and that to skip it would mean to let an integral piece of (replicated) history slip through my hands. And that I will not do. Thank you, Les Indemodables, for giving us back our history.

Ambre Supreme is a moving, prismatic aldehydic floral, with a tender salty oceanic shimmer that's simply to die for. On the very surface it's not a complicated scent, I get lots of jasmine and some immortelle, and it actually kinda reminds me of Mugler's Alien. However, describing it this way really doesn't do it justice, Ambre Supreme isn't a bomb, it's somewhat subtle (and frankly quite fleeting, at least on my skin), but even within those smaller confines it somehow manages to capture so much more life. Interestingly, for the lack of better words, I find it somewhat "bubblegummy", salty and aquatic, but when these aspects are the result of a master perfumer dealing with rare, exquisite natural ingredients, they're a far cry from the juvenile, mass produced designer releases that are often described as such. Needless to say, it's not what you'd expect. There's no detectable calone, ambroxan or cheap fruity ketones, there's nothing that smells remotely synthetic, it's completely unlike anything you'll find on the market right now, and yet it doesn't smell vintage either, it adheres to no particular rules and it's virtually impossible to replicate. It really shines in high heat, despite not being much of a freshie. Heat really brings out the shimmering oceanic side of the ambergris and the aldehydes, and it's not cloying in the slightest. If you want to try something special, or even if you just want to stand out, this deserves your attention. This might be the most beautiful scent I have in my collection and I cherish my bottle so much I'm almost afraid to wear it.

In the running for my favorite fragrance. In my growing experience, it is the perfect fragrance. I live in a very hot and humid climate and through some miracle of skin chemistry I have found a perfect match. Nothing smells better on me when it’s still 90*F plus at 9pm at night than this. Date night dinner on a patio—this. Outdoor concert drenched in sweat—this. Drinking beers with the boys around a campfire—this. Ambre Supreme has a strong presence. The amber is natural anmbergris and just simply different. Warm, strong but without any sea funk, but mostly just amped up. It lasts throughout the fragrance. It borders on pungent but isn’t. It’s perfect. The same amber finds its way into several other Les Ind offerings and allow one to get a dose of it in a more office friendly or daytime form (i.e., Escale En Indonesie). It’s really good and addictive. The opening is a hit of pepper and warm herbs that is relatively brief. There is a lovely smoky floral component from about 30min to 2 hours as the opening notes fade. Musky white florals. Perfect for night. The amber, present from the start, then just goes on and on. Silage is wide. It’s a comment magnet. Length is eternal. It’s going strong at 24 hours plus on lazy Saturdays where I need a shower from the night before but just haven’t managed it yet. On a jacket... expect days, weeks (?). I’m sure this would work well in Fall and Winter as well, anywhere a rich fragrance will shine. I save mine for hot summer nights. I would love to smell this on a confident woman.

What a beautiful creation, natural Ambergris can hardly get any better than this, unless you start wading through the jungle of artisanal and indie fragrances. If you want a fragrance that is also easy to use somewhere else but home and is wearable in every kind of way, then Ambre Suprême is definitely worth a try. There is 10% Ambre gris in this juice which is very rare to find from the market. Almost all "Amber gris" in perfumes is synthetic. In Ambre Suprême there is a silky smooth, tame animalic natural Ambergris - it feels salty, sensual, like the skin after swimming in the sea. It's addictive, I can't stop smelling my wrist when wearing this one. There are delicate, subtle florals in the heart but the scent is so well blended that honestly, my attention is drawn to Ambergris because that aroma is so special here. There are not spices on my skin. Aquatic or fresh, which I have seen in accords, must be due to the maritime atmosphere that comes from the scent since this is not that kind of watery aquatic nor fresh in the way it is usually understood. Even if I didn't like the simplicity in Oriental Velours and Cuir de Chine, here it absolutely works. I'm totally in love with this scent. Thank you for reading, I hope my review was helpful. This one is damn good, even better than I was expecting. Despite the name the main thing here is a superb immortelle; after the fresh, sligthly spicy opening, it takes the stage showing all the aspects of one of the more complex floreal note in perfumery. Every other accord in the fragrance is meant to underline some aspect of the immortelle, its fresh erbaceous feeling (cardamom, neroli patchouli), the floral sweetness (jasmine) leaning a little bit into coumarinic honey-hay-sweet suggestion and this time finally someone (thanks Antoine Lie) was able to underline the cotton-levander feeling that real immortelle brings with it. And the ambergris? Isn't this supposed to be an ambergris scent? Well, there is a lot of it, and it is the engine that moves the immortelle, pushing the fragrance out and giving it that salty-marine vibe, adding complexity and longevity. To be honest this is not only a show off of top quality materials, it is also a great blend, cannot praise more mr. Lie for his work. About the practicality: this is a total genderless fragrance, and can be easily signature scent, wearable both in the cold months and in the hot summer, night and day, it is refined and elegant, can't go wrong with this. Price is not low, but the materials are expensive, so I'm more prone to accept it in these cases.

I have a sample set of this brand and fortunately, they are in 3 ml so I can explore them. This brand is one of those niche brands that work on the true principles of perfumery. At the first sniff of perfumes of this brand, you may not completely understand or get the complete scent profile, details, and characteristics of the fragrance. And most likely you ignore it because what happens is not really at the top. Now that I am trying their samples more and more, I can gradually understand them. So, the fragrance seems very simple but it is very complex. And you can't see all these details in the first plot, it takes time to see all these details. Overall, for the fragrances of this brand, describing the scent based on the notes is very difficult, and almost impossible. The fragrances look like a high-resolution photo; when you zoom in and zoom in you can see more and more details. Or a detailed painting, that you should spend time to see all the details and aspects of that. Overall, what I understand is that the style of Antoine Lie in most of the fragrances from this house works with paradoxes: the fragrances are dark and bright, feminine and masculine, animalistic and elegant. All these contrasts surprisingly look very homogenous and harmonized. 9/10

This is a truly fascinating fragrance. Real ambergris takes center stage here, but it’s far from the only thing going on. On my skin, the composition is softened and balanced by white florals-though never to the point where it becomes what one could classify as a floral perfume. I also pick up something lightly honeyed and herbaceous, which feels like an immortelle note, quite reminiscent of the one used in Immortelle Solarie. I’m seriously considering picking this up for the summer, although it has strong competition within the brand: Cuir de Chine, with its fantastic osmanthus working as a fresh, airy leather, and Fougère Émeraude-and really, what’s better than a fougère with a touch of tuberose? On a more general note, I’m genuinely smitten with Les Indémodables. Naturally, not all of their creations are my style, but the quality is consistently outstanding. After experiencing their work, as well as the perfumes from Les Abstraits, it’s hard to be impressed by the materials and craftsmanship of many other houses. To my mind, only Papillon, older Frederic Malle, select offerings from Chanel Les Exclusifs, and Parfum d’Empire match this newly discovered appreciation for exceptional blends and top-tier raw materials.

Opening with ozonic and briny with a mild aldehydic hue, Ambre Suprême reminds me of the sandy dunes of Cape Cod ("the Cape") on a rainy day much like the one I am experiencing today, where the rain pulls out all the savory aromas of the shore, piquant and peppery. A tart, mouth-watering twang, perhaps courtesy of jasmine sambac absolute, leads the way to the real showstopper here: a radiant natural ambergris that is at the core of this composition. It is nearly algoid in its feel, flush with shoreline exhalation, and is supported by a kindred material, clary sage, with its tea and tobacco facets. The immortelle here is mild, muted, with a vaguely hay-like bouquet. Ambre Suprême highlights the extraordinary sillage that ambergris imparts: it is anything but static, an amorphous ether that almost haunts during the development of a composition. It's as if its molecules scoop up that of the other materials in a perfume and juggles them in the air, and we feel that scintillating effect as they enter our nostrils and tickle our olfactory receptors. All other components are fixed into this mysterious "grey amber," rendering them to a more scintillating and seductive state.

Wow... Comes off as 4-dimensional, I see why this is among the house's most popular fragrances, so smooth and well blended with the highest quality ingredients. Oddly reminds me of Fendi's 1985 fragrance "Fendi", *or at least my memory of it* as my grandma wore it long ago and was one of the first frags I remember enjoying (didn't wear it myself). Maybe because of that association, it makes me think Ambre Supreme has a bit of a vintage DNA but with a very modern take with good blending. Feels multi-faceted with many subtle nuances. It has more of a Fall/Winter overall approach probably because of the prominent warm-spicy sweet amber but can probably be worn year-round as a signature scent as the aldehydes, aromatic notes, and subtle florals add that complex 4-dimensional experience. The notes/ingredients/accords really contrast each other, and just looking at them before sampling, it might seem convoluted with accords clashing with one another, but it's blended very well. Only have a 1ml sample at the moment but I still sprayed it 2-3 solid times on my arm and it seems to sit rather intimately, so I wish it projected just a bit more.

Les Indemodables Ambre Supreme (2021) - gleaming ocean - I was surprised to see the brand make another amber oriental as they already had Oriental Velours, but this isn’t one. In fact, I would classify it as Oceanic. #antoinelie mesmerizes us once again with an interplay of waxy, sparkling floral Aldehydes and one of the highest concentration of high-quality natural Ambergris in modern perfumery. Starts with spicy yet fruity Pink Pepper and Cardamom mixed with said Aldehydes. But the Ambergris smell (salty, musky, woody) come out early supported by light floral elements. I quite enjoy the florals as both Aldehydes and Ambergris make these ingredients shine. At the drydown, Ambergris takes over and smoothens the entire fragrance. Another wonderful benefit of using so much of the substance is how wonderfully it wafts off skin. I also get earthy, herbal and mossy elements that create depth. An oceanic scent that doesn’t go into traditional blue territory and a must for any ambergris lover.

Love this stuff. I bought a full bottle right away after sampling. Ambre Supreme is very intriguing... it's strong yet soft.... very masculine yet not heavy. It's like an extension of my own body chemistry made to smell the best possible way. Shortly after getting this I also sampled and bought Bortnikoff's Amber Cologne because I realized just how much I love real, natural ambergris. Ambre Supeme is definitely stronger without all the supporting fun stuff... Amber Cologne is lighter with the citrus and florals and for me is the perfect vacation scent... like "I work out but I'm on vacation watching a luau sipping on a Mai Tai" Ambre Supreme is more luxurious and beastly and gives me ocean vibes without tropical.... like "I'm a sexy beast that lives by the ocean in my Malibu mansion" lol I love them both and these will always be in my collection. Scent Profile - 10/10 Longevity - 9.5/10 Overall - 10/10

Opening is a shimmer of gold and bubbles. Effervescent like a glass of Champagne. Angelic cleanliness supporting a floral bouquet. It’s like wearing a sheen of absolute beauty. Very transportive. I want someone whose sole task is to spray this on me as I wake up. Right before she fans me with palm fronds and feeds me grapes from between her bosom. DM me if interested. 10/10 from first spray. Full bottle purchase immediately after first wear from their sample set (which is awesome btw for its 3ml sizes and included booklet of information). Very uplifting and beaming with joy which is odd considering how ambergris comes to be. This house is recreating some timeless scent profiles and, along the way, contributing many wonderful ideas to the world of perfumery. As always, fully wear before making a decision or posting your flash fried review. On skin, this brand is second to none.

I may hyperbolize this, but the scent transcended me to heaven on my first impression, and even higher, right when it revealed the white florals with ambergris. Ambre Supreme and Bvlgari Gyan are probably the only two jasmine+patchouli done this way. Both are not the usual indolic, floral-y jasmine that is presented in a million perfumes. It is soft, gentle and does not betray the natural grace of the real thing. On my skin, Ambre Supreme brings a complex herbal clary sage + aldehydes concoction upon the opening and then the heart with salty mineral ambergris surrounds the white florals. While Gyan surrounds it with light sweet orange scent. This is sophisticated, interesting, and elegantly distinctive. I do not know how to paint a better picture with words, you gotta try for yourself. It lasts long, but stays intimate after the first hour.

#592 in my "Tour de Fragrance" I am becoming a big fan of this fragrance house. When a scent smells like nothing I've smelled before, and I've trialed almost 600 fragrances, you get extra credit for surprising me. Ignore the sharp opening and you'll quickly be delighted by the spiciness and florals. If you added white florals to Guerlains "Cuir Beluga" you'd get something like this. Very floral, but still unisex. I love this on me and I would love it on any woman. As others have pointed out this isn't as amber forward as the name would have you believe. The focus is more on the spice and florals. There aren't that many florals out there that I would say every man can pull off, and I don't think every man can pull this off. The florals really project here, so I would save this for date night and just a light spray, enough to be intriguing.

Ambre Supreme I think supreme is fair here. You do feel this is quite superior to many iconic ambers out there. If anything this does give Serge Lutens Ambre Sultan a run for its money. It’s a smooth animalic amber. Furry animalic, not stinky. The kind you want to cuddle with. If I were to change the name it would be Ambre Magnetism because this will pull you in. This is haute couture amber. Imagine if Chanel hadn’t come out with Le Lion (which I love). This would be an amber you would expect coming out of Chanel Les Exclusifs. I think given how specific of a category amber is, this becomes a must try. Besides why not indulge in what so far has been a treasure trove of a discovery set. Honestly, it’s such a good value to explore I would rebuy if I ran out.

This scent is the Kate bush suspended in gaffa of perfumes to me. It smells like time. That pursuit of something that will only come to you when you are ready. Out of your control confusing yet serendipitous in how it all comes together or not. It makes me think of all the mysteries of life with how beguiling it is. Being the perfect representation of uncertainty it left a weird impression on me I put the sample away for a year convinced I didn’t like it. Revisited it and its beauty came to me finally after being suspended in gaffa lol. The most sophisticated sea shore scent of them all. A lot of music comes to me when I smell it. Bay of pigs by destroyer for example (my favorite song of all time) Dan bejar smells like this while narrating the song

There are more immortelle in this than it was giving credit for. It is side by side dancing with the ambergris, and it compliments the ambergris very well along side jasmine and clary sage (in the opening). I realized this about the immortelle because I got a bottle of Immortelle body oil from L’occitane, and was sampling their Immortelle skin care line as well. That famous green fresh immortelle smell in L’occitane stores that I have been looking for and was mesmerizing by for so long, has been inside the Ambre Supreme that sat on my shelf for almost a year, and only come to realize when I decided to try the L’occitane Immortelle line despite the targeted audience the brand markets for is women.

Incredible fragrance. Ambre supreme is a unique perfume, unlike anything Ive smelled apart from maybe Chanel No5. The perfume is an aldehyde based fragrance with a lot of herbs. The ambergris in this fragrance gives in a fresh base to it with the feeling of a salty shore. Although this definitely is a spring fragrance, I would say that it absolutely works any time of the year. This is a no-brainer for me, and I think it's a crowd-pleaser. Another masterpiece from Les Indemodables, keeping their high standard. Totally full bottle worthy, outstanding quality, very unique, mass apealing and good performance.

Please do not confuse amber and ambergris: this is not the typical sweet-spicy-resinous amber fragrance à la Ambre Sultan. Ambre Suprême is a genuine ambergris fragrance (real ambergris, not ambroxan!) with all the facets that this whale legacy brings: dry, mineral notes, a hint of animal, a hint of the sea, freshly cut paper, salt and warm skin. An aldehyde sky arches over everything and floral and spicy notes accentuate the ambregris kaleidoscope. And although a vintage feel characterises the fragrance, it doesn't impose itself as retro for a second. Very, very well done!

Sparkly aromatic opening and it transitions to lovely natural smelling white florals. What I get is mostly a salty jasmine, as if a clean ocean breeze is passing through jasmine vines before I ultimately inhale it. Dries to the smell of sexy, salty, and iodized skin. I wasn't expecting so many florals before I tried it. The florals overpower the ambergris which I was expecting a lot more of, so it took me a couple of wearings with adjusted expectations to fully appreciate its beauty. It's still great and I love it, but not what I was expecting.

Holy moly donut shop is this stuff breathtaking. It gives me thoughts of a modern n5 in the top, and thoughts of a modern mitsouko in the mid towards the drydown. The fragrantica editor made an article about this, and people said where’s the oakmoss? Where’s the peach? Well... If you look at the ingredient list on the bottom of the box, you will see oakmoss listed as evernia prunastri. Also I would add, I’am getting some sort of fruity sweetness in this fragrance. This stuff is worth a sample 100%

First Impression: A fresh but dirty aromatic ambergris fragrance. It's got hints of minerals and iodine along with fresh neroli, and a musty, almost "humid" immortelle. Exceptional quality with just enough earthiness and skank to keep me interested and coming back for more. It's not skanky enough to make me self conscious about wearing it either. Very well balanced. This house works masterfully with ambergris. Scent 9.5/10 Performance TBD but seems to sit close to skin.

This is one of the best scents out there. It’s sunset and you are walking down the marina. The fishermen left their nets out to dry after a successful morning. There is a dark golden glow. Real Ambre Gris is so multi faceted. One whiff of clean soap, next whiff of dirty animalic notes, then comes the sunshine and then comes the darkness. It’s not a perfume, it’s a vibe. Expect an aura of glory surrounding you for 8-10 hours. This is perfumery at its finest.

I love this, but I have to psych myself up before I wear it, because I find the opening challenging - strong, masculine, complicated, clean, herbal/spicy and citrusy. After one or two hours though it becomes utterly gorgeous as the ambergris really starts to come through - salty, sweet, dirty, floral and skin-like yet somehow also fresh and breezy. I really really like it, but I'm always conscious that others around me may not.

I will say that I didn't understand this at first, and I didn't really care for it. The aldehydes definitely remind me of Chanel No 5, but this is modern and more unisex. Now, I crave smelling this, like it's wormed it's way into my brain. It's strange for sure, like some witchcraft or voodoo. But, I love it a whole lot now lol.

When I was a kid, in my grandparents’ beach town, we had to cross an underground tunnel before reaching the shore. It usually smelled like pee, mixed with the salty sea air and the various fragrances that other people would leave in the air. This fragrance takes me right back to that place. I like it!

Masterfully blended and signature scent worthy. This is a perfectly unisex, heavily floral amber with ambergris and immortelle in the dry down being the easiest notes to identify on my skin. A true 10/10 fragrance, perfect for any occasion all year.

this is very very good. the dry down (4-24 hours after spraying) is absolutely beautiful. the opening reminds me a little bit of a classic chanel, but even more natural absolutes and a bit of a different style of course

This isn’t like any Amber fragrance you will smell. Dry down is more floral but the type a gentleman would wear. On to the next one from this magnificent niche house.

Damn this stuff is ridiculously good. My first experience with real ambergris. The depth that this has is insane. It’s so magnetic and irresistible.

Like many, I purchased Ambre Suprême for one main reason. It uses real ambergris. After testing so many fragrances built around synthetic substitutes it almost felt like a disservice not to experience the real material. Part of it was curiosity and part of it was simply wanting to see what the genuine article actually feels like in a modern fragrance. The opening is clean and elegant. Bright aldehydes give it a polished almost waxy sheen while clary sage adds a soft floral sweetness. It feels refined from the start. Nothing is sharp or aggressive. It opens with confidence but never tries too hard. After about thirty minutes the neroli and jasmine begin to show themselves more clearly. The floral character continues in a graceful way and this is when the immortelle becomes noticeable. It brings a dry honeyed warmth with a slightly sandy texture. Immortelle often creates that sunlit almost windswept effect in fragrances and here it adds a nice depth. Around the forty five minute mark the ambergris starts to truly shine on my skin. This is where you can tell there is a difference. It feels more complex and more dimensional. There is a subtle almost fatty and faintly leathery quality yet it remains delicate and close to the skin. It does not project loudly. It settles into a soft intimate aura. It smells organic and lived in, in a way that ambroxan rarely captures. Rather than a sharp salty marine musk this feels smoother and more nuanced. What stands out most is the restraint. The other notes never overpower the ambergris. They simply lift it and give it structure so you can appreciate it fully. It has an older style character that calls back to a time when real ambergris was more common in perfumery. This one truly feels timeless because of that approach. There are other fragrances with a similar profile and this style has been explored before. At first I wished more of my favorites used real ambergris, but now I appreciate how thoughtfully it is used here. It is not exaggerated or turned into something trendy. It is presented in a way that feels true to its roots. If you are an ambergris lover you will truly enjoy this. I could genuinely tell a difference with the real material. This feels like a work of art and one I am happy to own.

I've spent many many years disliking ambergris, and equal amount of time trying to find an ambergris perfume that I could tolerate and hopefully like. Et voila! This is it. Now, I'm always distrustful of marketing, but I have no reason not to believe Mr Lie and the following comment: "Ambergris, the near-mythical aged and oxidized exudate from a sperm whale, is one of the most prized ingredients in perfumery. Due to its rarity and cost, Ambergris (“grey amber”) is synthetic in 99 percent perfumes that list it as an ingredient. In Ambre Supreme, the natural version specially sourced and tinctured using our proprietary ultrasound extraction is used in a 10% dosage, putting a spotlight on this precious ingredient with a unique ability to amplify and unify other notes in a composition." So, this is the real thing. Which also means that this is not an amber perfume, but a play on words. This is a fresh, spicy, floral ambergris perfume, which of course has an intrinsic marine quality. But, the most important thing to highlight is that this one completely lacks any bitter-sour aspect (i.e. the aspect that made me dislike synthetic amdergris before). This is essential sampling for anyone who wants to see how the real thing smells (with the added benefit of it being part of an excellent compostion). Long longevity, moderate projection. Wonderful.

Ambre Supreme is beautiful in a restrained and minimal way. It is refined and it takes some sitting with to fully appreciate it, especially if the wearer goes into it expecting something warm and dense and rich. Ambre Supreme has a strongly herbaceous and airy feel to it. It’s a grey type amber, based on ambergris, so you don’t get the really balsamic and resinous feel of an amber that is based on vanilla and labdanum. And anyway, it is more about aldehydes and immortelle than it is about amber. This feels thinner, more minerally, and the amber feels like just one part of a mix with various green materials and spices making up the rest, and lots of air in between the different elements. The immortelle gives the perfume the feel of hot sand deserts and far away places and dry leathery winds blowing spicy scents in from a distance. Ambre Suprême makes you work for it more than a classic rich amber with a lush presence would . But it’s worth the effort. It has impressive longevity at more than ten hours on skin, with a decent scent bubble of a couple feet from the wearer.

If you love natural ambergris, you will adore this one. The marine, salty, ozonic facet of the ambergris note in it is unmistakeable. I love how unapologetic the composition is. All the supporting notes--clary sage, pink pepper and cardamom--remain devoted to the star ingredient. The cardamom in particular helps exaggerate the whole experience by giving the ocean salt a zingy dimension. This is, like many others in the collection, a truly avant-garde composition. Yet as much as I like the concept, there's something muted and one-dimensional about it. It's probably because I'm not an ambergris fanatic, but I find the main note a tad too smothering, almost too coherent, at the end of the day. A touch of wood (or something resinous) I think might have helped loosen up the overall composition, giving it a more relaxing experience. For a more "oceanic," relaxing experience of ambergris, I recommend Escale en Indonésie, also from Les Indemodables.

شروع بسیار زیبا با روایح مُرکباتی و سبز،که بوی مرکبات مثل پرتقال شیرین و سبزی عطر هم مثل شاخ و برگ و علف های چسبیده بهش می‌مونه فلفل صورتی،خیلی پررنگ و زیبا ایفای نقش می‌کنه از ایجاد فضای مرکباتی گرفته تا تکمیل وجه ادویه ای بعد از چند دقیقه و با ورود روایح ادویه ای،بویی شبیه به نوشابه حس میشه که کمی با احتیاط این رو میگم چون بیشتر یه حس نوشابه ایه تا بوی دقیق کولا این بو اما خیلی پایدار نیست و با گذشت دقایق،کم رنگ و کم رنگ میشه آلدهید ها به نظرم در تاپ نت نبودند،بلکه در قلب عطر و نت های اصلی جا داشتند فضای ادویه ای و مه آلود آلدهیدی با چاشنی پچولی علفی_ادویه ای؛یک حس معلق میان کهنه‌گی و نو ای ایجاد می‌کنه این مرحله هم گذر می‌کنه و عطر با رسیدن به مرحله‌ی پایانی خودش،بویی متفاوت از اتفاقات اولیه رو به شما انتقال میده که فضا ای شیک و آروم و کمی نمکی داره و اونقدرا هم امبری نیست عطر خوبی بود ولی نه برای من *************** Scent:7/10 Longevity:7/10 Sillage:7/10 Purchase value:2/10 ******** Overall:5.8/10

All these talk about vintage vibe, yet I got lots of aquatic nuances (towards drydown) 🤔 I even thought I got the wrong sample! To quote one of my favorite perfume blogger: "one of the site’s columnists wrote a whole article about how the fragrance was purportedly 'A Contemporary Mitsouko For Vintage Lovers?' If my eyes rolled back any further in my head, they’d pop out all the way to Sri Lanka. No, this is neither a chypre, a vintage-style or vintage-smelling fragrance...And if you hope that a fragrance that includes calone and salty aquatic elements but lacks oakmoss, castoreum, birch tar leather, peach, and other chypre...elements stands a good chance of smelling like Mitsouko, then you are a sweet thing" lol

Ambre Supreme is a fantastic rendition of ambergris, a note I sometimes struggle to connect with unfortunately and so I have no real need to own a bottle of this, however I can really appreciate the creativity and ingenuity here. The scent is dominated by this cold oceanic sweetness, with a somewhat subtle salty edge, contrasted by this pronounced metallic sheen of aldehydes which just persists endlessly. It’s increasingly unusual and attention grabbing, it smells almost surreal. This style of perfume is uncomfortable territory for me, I want to love ambergris-heavy scents like this but it’s just not my style. I’ll enjoy playing around with my sample but I can’t see myself buying this.

Very nice. Name fooled me a bit, there are tons of "amber" focused fragrances out there and I'm bored of them tbh, and I first thought this would just go down that route but it does much more. I think the immortelle is giving the most of the warm spicy feel here with patchouli darkening it up. But then over the top you have the neroli and cardamom brightening and balancing those out. Those and the ambergris seem to meld to gether to give a little bit of a mix of a mild animalic ambery fruity chypre. There is a classic chypre peachiness coming out here, but obviously nothing like that is noted. If they did that only with what is noted, clever.

Introduces itself with a proper slap of pink pepper and sage, then floats off in a fizzy haze. Floral, a little herbal, very "I have excellent taste.", then melts into a warm ambergris hug that’s elegant, but a little sassy. The quality of materials for this house are so obvious, I’m left wondering whether I admire them more as examples of that, or for their actual perfumery. I’m still undecided, but irrespective I think this is another excellent example of both the materials and their execution.
