Escale En Haiti

I used to own Escale En Haïti by Les Indémodables, and honestly, I regret selling it. At the time I was obsessed with “beast mode” fragrances. If something didn’t project loudly or last forever, I tended to dismiss it. Looking back, that mindset made me overlook how well this fragrance actually works in real life, especially in a hot and humid place like South Florida. Our heat isn’t dry. You can step outside, walk to your car, and already feel the humidity soaking through your shirt. In those conditions, loud or overly dense fragrances can become cloying very quickly. Escale En Haïti handles that environment beautifully. It’s a fresh, uplifting vetiver that feels clean and invigorating rather than heavy or woody. It doesn’t remind me of Chanel Sycomore or other darker vetiver fragrances. Instead, it keeps things light, airy, and refreshing. Yes, the staying power isn’t the strongest, and that used to bother me. Now I see that as part of its charm. Sometimes you just want to smell fresh and clean for a while without worrying about a fragrance dominating your entire day. Looking back, this is one I truly wish I still had in my collection. An absolutely gorgeous, understated, sophisticated perfume that can be worn in hot or cold weather; as a casual scent or for formal occasions. The opening is fresh, aldehydic, minty. Escale en Haiti was a surprise to me, as I was expecting a cologne with a traditional citrus opening. Instead, its freshness is derived from the "cool" spicy, mildly astringent juniper and pink pepper. The dry down is my favorite part of the ride. The vetiver is a fresh, green vetiver (as opposed to something inky and heavy.) It's combined here with the slight sweetness of tonka bean, which I normally hate but don't mind here at all, and a lovely bit of myrrh - which stops the vetiver and tonka from going full-on barbershop. EeH also reminds me, somehow, of Mimosa and Cardamom by Jo Malone. It's very nice. 4/5 (PS: I hate how people use one measly spray from a sample and claim bad performance or longevity. Escale en Haiti lasts 24 hours on my skin and can often be detected even after a shower.)

A high quality, straightforward vetiver, great for summer but also works well in cool, damp spring. Balanced, gentle and light, perfect for daytime. Some sharpening gin/juniper berry up top with a little of their musky sweetness and the same from the hay-like coumarin/tonka. And perhaps some unobtrusive Iso E Super or ozonic musk for freshness, I can't be sure. Escale en Haïti doesn't shout to make itself heard but as I catch it through the day it carves out a calm sense of space around me. Vetiver is one of my favourite notes and in the vast range of vetiver perfumes out there this hits my sweet spot. Clean, mineral and lightly woody, it's hovering between Chanel's original Sycomore Eau de Toilette — minus Sycomore 's lovely, dusty cypress note — and Parfum d'Empire's beautiful Vetiver Bourbon , but without the latter's powdery orris root, meaning for me Escale en Haïti comes out just on top. A must-have. Les Indémodables are fast becoming one of my favourite houses.

I was never a vetiver person before this, and now I am obsessed, this is absolutely awesome I don’t know why people are always complaining about “performance” I could smell this on my shirt after 24 hours and a wash and drying cycle. The vetiver is incredible and not peanut-y which is great. And there is a great dose of hedione which is probably my favorite molecule. And not to mention all the natural absolutes etc. bought a bottle and already want to buy a back up

man at first smell i just glossed over this but now it is my absolute favorite lighter spring/summer fragrance. it has a beautiful hedione or something like a fresh hedione, with the pink pepper absolute and with a huge earthy vetiver. honestly it is like a (very) niche version of aqua di gio but with a very awesome earthy but fresh vetiver. and all the other naturals. extremely great
