Oranger Sirocco

Since this is Les Indemodables, and it's titled Oranger Sirocco, or Sirocco Orange (or Orange Tree), I told myself I should expect perhaps a rose leather, an Arabian oud and incense, or maybe an aquatic green. But no! We got an orange fragrance, in essence an orange amber! I was shocked! The title of a Les Indemodables perfume actually makes sense to the contents! However, I was - and still am - a bit confused. They already gave us an orange amber with Chypre Azural, so why did they need to do another one? After spending a few hours with Oranger Sirocco, which is usually far from being enough time to come to any firm personal conclusions on a perfume, I did actually reach a very strong conviction: Oranger Sirocco is what Chypre Azural should have been. This doesn't mean that I think they should swap places though; I don't think what we got as Chypre Azural would work as Oranger Sirocco, furthering my belief that Chypre Azural is a sort-of orphan in the LI line with no clear parent vision/idea. Though Oranger Sircocco, in summation of its notes, is more "amber" than it is anything else, it plays with the idea of cinnamon in a very interesting way that steers it more towards the chypre direction than Azural went. The gears in the perfume geek side of my brain are spinning. Starting from the top, we get a big, round, and plushy hit of LI's favorite orange material. Like in Azural, this orange accord strings itself from the top to the base of the perfume throughout the entirety of its life. Be it known, regardless of any other criticisms, it cannot be said that LI uses materials any less than stellar. In Sirocco, the orange note is brighter and more hesperidic but it still carries that slightly bitter and oily rind zest characteristic that was turned way up in Azural. This is achieved by making the material more floral in nature. This is a perfect centering of the hesperidic qualities, the oily zest qualities, and the indolic floral orange blossom qualities on a Venn diagram. It is strikingly beautiful and stays with you from beginning to end. Marvelous. Curiously, LI separates this orange accord by stating notes of orange blossom absolute and petitgrain, suggesting a different material(s) than their previous orange-heavy perfumes. I'll believe them, but tomato toe-mah-toe; this smells very nearly identical to the orange material used in Azural and Sables, just, most fortunately, lifted into the air a noticeable amount more. The curiosity doesn't stop there: enter cinnamon. Cinnamon is a funny accord. We call it a spice, most readily associated with ambers and gourmands for that reason, but it's actually a wood bark. Just like wood barks, in its raw, natural, and living state it smells equally woody (peppery like cedar, and sometimes milky like sandalwood), and green (in a young wood sense), as it does the dry aromatic baking spice we are so familiar with. LI plays with this botanical reality by presenting a cinnamon accord, lurking quietly in the background, that is equally woody, a bit green in a young wood way, and, of course, with the characteristic very dry baking spice quality. Its dry and muscular nature takes the bright light of the orange blossom and petitgrain and dims the light to dusk-like darkness. Your mind - or at least mine did - wants to immediately say "amber" thanks to that unique baking spice characteristic we all know and love, but with much time and much study, the realization that it's quite a bit more than that boggles the mind and caresses the senses. This is one of the most unique orange blossom perfumes I have yet to smell. Usually, this beautiful flower is presented to us in a citrusy, indolic, and slightly sweet white floral way; always pleasant, always pretty, always bringing us an aloof and carefree joy. Oranger Sirocco shows us orange blossom's dark side - but I don't mean dark as in evil. The dryness, the indolic quality, the woody spiciness of cinnamon, but also the quietly lively hesperidic and floral characteristics, give us a picture of orange blossom flexing its muscles. There's a tough pugilist hidden behind that pretty face. This is a fantastic piece of work.

Les Indémodables is not about chasing trends or sales volumes; It is about the appreciation of natural, high-quality raw materials and giving them the space to shine in a timeless manner. True niche perfumery in my eyes. Orange blossoms are a staple of perfumery and I have always loved their smell, even more so after spending some time in Portugal where they are omnipresent. Thus, on paper, LI creating a smell centered around them seems like a perfect match to me. And luckily, it really is. I am thinking about getting a full bottle after finishing my 3ml sample. Oranger Sirocco is fresh and light, yet also spicy and warm. It is an homage to the Mediterranean, where the cultures and climates of West Asia, Northern Africa and Southern Europe have been mingling for millennia in human history. As the orange blossoms slowly start to fade, the perfume turns more towards the underlying soapy, slightly spicy and ambery warmth. It is cosy, but still light and fresh. While certainly unisex, I think that the floral soapyness pulls it slightly more to the feminine side, than the spices and amber do so to the other side. But I will definitely wear this myself and will also introduce my partner and my mum to it. I am really looking forward to wearing this on a summer night, and also to see how it will do on colder days. It certainly has an uplifting, warming effect that I can see working year round and in most climates.

The opening is sharp, bright and aromatic. There is a smell of citrus peel that feels balanced according to the composition. A feeling of green landscapes might come to mind if you appreciate this kind of openings. Do not let it fool you because it develops a warm sensation after 15 min. The fragrance glows. Magnificent combination of spices and flowery profile while it dries down. Well balanced, intriguing, sweet and highly aromatic. Longevity 5/10 Sillage 6/10 Daytime. Needs to be reaplied after 4h. I don't recomend it for summer. The warm spicy profile might be too much for hot climates. Winter (daytime), Spring and Autumn (daytime/nighttime).

I must say, I was on the fence with this one for quite a while. I loved it at first, then reviews mentioning that it had added ambroxan or something synthetic-smelling along those lines influenced my judgment. Fast forward a few months and I love it. It does have a dusty and salty “undersmell” (which, if you ask me, makes it even more interesting), but now I identify it with the ambergris used by Les Indémodables in Ambre Suprême (which is great and will be purchased one day).

warm spicy orange blossom. i'm not a big fan of citruses or spicy, gourmand scents, but oranger sirocco is subtle and not overly sweet. it feels like what bath and body wants their stores to smell like in the fall, but they go overboard with the cinnamon. here, it feels very well blended, warm, comforting, and not saccharine (which is what turns me off to most gourmands and sweet perfumes). it also lasted all day for me and radiated out all day. beautiful 10/10

This is a reference orange blossom scent. Extremely high quality. Not much going on, but the notes that are there are executed at a very high level. You get the cinnamon for sure, a nice touch that adds a spicy edge. The longevity of this fragrance was surprising to me. Being mostly orange blossom I expected a lighter wear, but no. I easily got about 7 hours, maybe 8, of enjoyable wear. Comes off as a dense orange blossom cloud. Highly recommend!

9.1/10 Immediately the quality of the composition hits you, from the start you know this is great. Beautiful orange blossom showcased in such a unique way. It has a marmalade/jammy effect and the way this stuff smells in the air is just incredible.

The opening is very stuffy and sweet, but as it dries down it becomes more airy and sun kissed. It reminds me of a higher quality Creed Neroli Sauvage, but with natural materials. Great for summer. Unisex

Warm golden hued wind with orange blossom in the air. It's that simple and that good. It leans slightly feminine bc of the sweet orange blossom, however it can easily be worn by anyone.

My hidden gem. As a cinnamon lover I am addicted to this. Pure unisex leaning towards masculine after that blast of cinnamon and spice opening. Pure love ❤️

Ab absolute summer banger, the orange notes and cinamon blended to perfection

A nice take on orange blossom. Instead of the usual fresh and zesty neroli, this one is dry, sticky, and spicy. It's definitely on the sweeter side, but it doesn't get overwhelming like Kilian's Love Don't Be Shy or Memo's Sintra. If you're looking for the best "sweet orange blossom" scent, this one here *could* be it. The sweetness in Oranger Sirocco has a crunchy, sand/crystal-like texture that fits the "Sirocco" vibe perfectly. The cinnamon adds a nice touch, but it doesn't turn the fragrance into a dessert or make it super spicy. It kind of comes and goes, sometimes hiding behind the orange, other times peeking out more. It's also quite different from Serge Lutens' Fleurs d'Oranger, which is intense, sweaty and waxy. Oranger Sirocco feels more like looking at an orange blossom through amber glass—it's more cosmetic and impressionistic. Also, there's a soft and clean, almost shampoo-like quality to it, with hints of petitgrain and a faint leathery, smoky green tea vibe in the background. At first, I wasn't sure about it because it seemed too sweet, but the more I wore it, the more I liked it. Maybe the sweetness calmed down, or maybe I just got used to it. It lasts about six hours on the skin, with decent projection for the first two to three hours before it turns into a nice, soft spicy scent. I've even gotten a few compliments while wearing it. It has a bit of a designer feel, not in a "bad" way, but I could see something similar coming from YSL or Armani at 70€ on Sephora. The price is a bit steep at 220€ for 50ml, but honestly, I'd choose Oranger Sirocco over Love Don't Be Shy or Sintra any day. It's also different from Memo's Winter Palace, which is more like a tea + orange popsicle. Oranger Sirocco has a fun charm to it, but I need to mention that it still feels like a "universally pleasing"/checkbox type of fragrance and I don't think that someone searching for the epitome of olfactory art and uniqueness is going to love it (tho I'ld be gladly be proven wrong). I'm still on the fence about it, dunno if I like it, feel meh about it or growing to love it, but I'll definitely keep sampling it to see if something changes in time.

More impressive Indemodables consistency: truly an amazing house which seems to make nothing but winners. Even those I don't love are always so impeccably well judged - solid performers built on robust, sensibly-engineered chassis (chassises? chassees?) of quality ingredients, and usually with enough of a twist to make them intelligent and subtle too. No crazed footlong menus of clashing notes or madly intricate 'scent stories': they just do simple, even minimal things, but do them almost perfectly. The name and concept here do compute: orange with the spices of a Lebanese or Moroccan market, so bringing a bit of Saharan intrigue and heat to the classic Mediterranean citrus. Of course, orange blossom is hardly the most original idea ever, but the spice mix takes it to another and more interesting place than your standard slug of sunshine. Its gentle warm sweetness and soft cinnamon cloud may seem underwhelming and too-basic at first, but its charm is unarguable; the lasting power's impressive and the drydown, which gets powderier and cinnamonier as the full blossom aura dies back, is a thing of true beauty - and even hangs on for a barnstorming 10-12 hours even after application on skin. Even for a gourmand sceptic, it's absolutely classy enough to earn its keep and justify the price. My own personal taste in orange usually leans much sharper and edgier and 'brighter' than this, and yes there were moments where it teetered along the edge of being just a tiny bit oversweet, but it overall - it's absolutely convincing and would work a treat in autumn, or even winter, when a more acid/cologney type of orange would be too biting by far. Men need not fear it; would and could work perfectly well as a unisex winner. One more round of applause for a brand which earns and deserves all its props!

Les Indémodables Orange Sirocco (2024) - amber citrus - Not your typical citrus perfume by #antoinelie This is orange turned desert wind—warm, spiced, and textured. It opens with a bright, bitter-sweet orange peel accord, lifted by aromatics and spices that immediately give it density. Quickly, the fruit is veiled by saffron, clove, and resinous warmth, making the citrus glow like embers. As it develops, the fragrance reveals a backbone of amber, woods, and musk, keeping the composition grounded yet radiant. What I enjoy most is its duality: refreshing at first, then smoky, spicy, and dry, almost like a citrus chypre built for the heat of the Sahara. Distinctive, long-lasting, and beautifully constructed—a citrus with real gravitas.

Fun take on an oriental floral that doesn't smell like your typical orange blossom fragrance. Starts out with a blast of orange blossom and dusty, peppery, woody spices, after about 45 minutes the spicy notes fade to the background a little and you're left with an ambery cinnamon orange blossom scent that comes across more like a masculine version of LV's Stellar Times. If you already know you like these types of notes then I'd say it's a safe blind buy, good for three seasons though I'd probably advise against wearing it in the hottest summer months. Projects for the first 3-4 hours then fades to a skin scent for a total of around 8 hours. 7.5/10

An orange blossom and spices scent with good longevity and projection.

Looking at the note breakdown for Oranger Sirocco, it seems like a very unusual approach to an oriential floral; one which I am not entirely sure I’d consider successful, but equally doesn’t feel like a failure by any means, it’s just rather unusual, an acquired taste. Initially it opens up with this harsh, waxy orange blossom and a bitter-orange peel-dominant potpourri smell: exactly the kind of orange blossom I tend to dislike. Over time it just becomes increasingly spicy and warming, at once dry and waxy with a touch of sweetness. It’s surprisingly very Christmassy. I would say this is an impressive creation, it’s rather cosy and of course very well made, absolutely unique. However, you have to really love Orange blossom - which, I sadly rarely do.

I like the Les Indemodables perfumes in general but this one is too sharp for me. I smell an astringent lemony scent in the opening, transforming into bitter flowers afterwards. Not a crowd pleaser, try before you buy. Also - it’s sweet spicy strong (not in a gourmand way), I wouldn’t wear it before it gets cold. And comparisons to Mafra or L’interdit are ridiculous, they are very different.

Struts in with a cloud of aldehydic florals built around light orange blossom and creamy, clean and warm spice. Feels like the warm sun on your face of weekends spent at the ski chalet with equal parts snow-play and sitting around the log fire. Classy, cuddly, and playful. Like if your childhood memories were better than they actually are.

Oranger Sirocco is a dense, sweet orange blossom with cinnamon. I'm surprised more reviews haven't described it as gourmand. It actually smells like a lemon tart to me. In addition to being syrupy sweet, it's also quite linear. Not impressed.

This perfume smells really feminine to me; I really don’t like the jasmine note. It smells like an old lady to my nose. It's not for me :( Edit : the dry down is actually ok

After giving this many wearings I can now say my thoughts have changed; after initially enjoying this indolic white flower scent the juxtaposition of the signature LI clean musky slightly screechy base with the slight indolic touches and sweet amber is just really tough to wear and is too linear for my taste. Another LI that doesn't quite do it for me. Edit: Enjoying this more now in the warmer days. Unisex and catching whiffs as I move is enjoyable. Probably full bottle worthy. But rather low on my long wishlist.

I love this cinnamon heat, orange flower combo on strip. My skin turns everything sweet which is great for heavy oud scents, but this became a sugared orange flower fluffy white musk - sweet and feminine with a light pink vibe. It’s nice otherwise. Projects well with great sillage for several hours. 6 hours later still popping up to say hello. If you like this, you may also like Arabian Oud Kashmir Musk or Alghabra Sweet Temptation.

This is a syrupy, fruity orange/orange blossom fragrance, with none of the green facets of other orange blossom scents I've tried. Its sweet but not sickly, and something about it feels a little bit middle-eastern to me. The spices are detectable after a while but I do wish the cinnamon was stronger. The sillage is good and the scent lasts over five hours. Overall I quite like it, but I wouldn't buy a full bottle. 6.5/10.

Middle-eastern style sweet orange blossom with mild sweet orange facets, doesn't come off as cinnamon but noticeably gourmand-sweet. 2nd round of sampling, I much prefer it to the first impression I had, still smells too middle-eastern for my taste, but I prefer it to Amouage's Beach Hut Man, which uses the same orange blossom note/accord.

The best orange forward scent on the market. I'm convinced. . . There is something magical that happens with the florals, cinnamon and orange that is just. . .Chefs kiss. It performs well to boot! Les Indemodables hits it out of the park once again. I'm going to have to buy this one.

A female leaning unisex. The floral opening is very feminine, but the drydown crawls close to unisex. It's a nice scent that very few will dislike, but if you want a masculine smell this is not what you're looking for. Perfect for a woman that is looking for a light everyday scent.

Disappointing overly sweet orange blossom in a lemony way, similar to what's used in cheap middle eastern perfume, cinnamon isn't prominent enough to save it. I hate this brand's rendition of orange blossom. Good performance

Creamy orange blossom and bergamot with waxy white florals, providing a natural sweetness. There's a sliiightly animalic backbone to this that I can't pinpoint at all but it really makes this scent intriguing.

Simple, perfect, quality ...... this is a stunner. I sprayed this on at the Scent Bar in Los Angeles and lost my mind.
