Bloody Wood

This perfume got my attention because of the notes in it. I was thinking that it has to be something extraordinary and it is. Bloody Wood has a beautiful opening with a bouquet of roses which changes quickly into the scent of Rose Oxide together with aroma of Cherries and Raspberries. Rose oxide is a fragrance chemical found in roses and rose oil and it has a little bit sweet and fruity smell, like the flavour of some wines - such as Gewürztraminernot - as well. Bloody Wood is not the deep and dark, thick smell of wine straight from the glass but it’s like a wine with a lot of Raspberry and Cherry juice diluted a little bit with a water. That makes this utterly enjoyable, sophisticated and classy scent despite of the cold, bloody like gothic feeling in the background. Raspberry and Cherry are not jammy or sticky nor too sweet. The base of the scent is woody but I visited last time in Italy in one friend’s wine cellar which was full of old dark oak barrels and i bet you don’t want exactly that smell in your perfume. It’s beautiful for sure but it’s as well damp, musty and aged. Oak barrel and woody note here is younger and smooth, Sandalwood making it even smoother. It’s anyway transparent and the colour of the juice tells actually the intensity of this concoction. I adore this scent but if you want a very long-lasting scent you may be disappointed. This one is a big surprise. On the test strip, it was middling: a little citrusy, a little cherry, slightly boozy (but not as winey as its counterpart, Bello Rabelo). On my skin, this thing turned to a beautiful fruity, rosy bomb. I dare say, I like this more than Amouage's Lyric Man. Don't get me wrong though, they are very different beasts. Whereas Lyric Man is the dusty, dryer and greener end of the rose spectrum, Bloody Wood is the jammy, sweet and bright end. On my skin, the opening is carried by a bright, zesty citrus note that stings you like a rose's thorns and lets you know it's there. The fruits come soon after. I personally don't detect as much of a winey note as I did from Bello Rabelo. Rather, I get very juicy cherry and other red fruit notes. Then the rose shows up a little more, maybe helped to stand out by the fruits. It's quite pleasant, not overly rosy as to turn feminine but not dry or soapy as some masculine rose fragrances either. The drydown is fruity and nice, less rose but a soft tinge of wood (sandalwood) but not as to become creamy or powdery (there's none of that here), just to support it and make it last a bit longer. I got maybe 6-7 hours total wear time from it, which is very good for a fruity scent, my acidic body chemistry usually destroys those. I enjoyed it a lot more than I thought and I had someone at work tell me it's quite appealing! This one's a keeper for me.

Before reading! I am no perfume expert and am very new to perfumes! This perfume is everything I could want in a scent. It evokes a mood and a feeling. I feel confident and safe while wearing this, which resonates with how I want to be perceived. It feels playful and extravagant yet grounded and mature. I like the image of a Victorian princess dancing at a ball. I have never gotten the rich initial spray from other perfumes. I believe this might be one of the best perfumes out there. There is depth to it while still being such a bold fragrance. I feel like this is something you can wear out casually or also on a fancy date. The scent itself is a rich fruity yet dry smell. it honestly smells like cranapple juice to me funnily enough. It has that layered scent of sweet richness but also a bitter kick. It does not overwhelm me but seems to hit its high point of strength when sprayed and settles down as it rests on your skin. The woody notes are there throughout the entirety of its wear but show up more as it stays. To me, the woody notes are not very noticeable but they are definitely there, just more in the background as something complimentary to the bitterness. If you read this far thank you!

This smells exactly like an old communist perfume my grandfather had in his pantry and macerated for 15-20 years. This opens as a newly opened bottle of wine and as it dries down it becomes so sweet it’s intoxicating. I’m slowly falling in love with it. The woody noted and the fruity ones peek through but the main stars are the wine and rose notes. This smells exactly like a dinner at Vlad Țepeșea’ castle, vintage wine and a table decorated with roses and dried fruit snacks. 100% the perfect fragrance for anyone’s vampire fantasies. I’m very picky with my perfumes and I prefer gourmet ones, but this one... Oh this might just become my signature fragrance because it awakens a rollercoaster of emotions in me. I just wish it lasted longer. - also I don’t get any blood whatsoever. Wine brewed in my grandfathers garage tho? That is what it reminds me of. Edit - after wearing it for a couple of hours the only notes that persisted are the rose and sandalwood. It went from vampire fantasy to Sunday mass at the back of the church listening to the grannies gossip about the way women dressed for such an event .

A delicious concoction of rose, red fruit, wine and wood. Smells like slipping into the Count’s velvet-lined coffin for a very good time. I’m not usually one for ‘made-up’ notes such as wine, I find them cartoonish and revoltingly millennial; but here it translates very cleverly through the rose. Rose oxide, after all, is a chemical compound that lends its distinct aroma not only to roses, but to certain wines as well. The metallic edge common to both roses and wine also evokes the eponymous blood. The wooden base is clever, too; it warms up and deepens the fragrance without sweetening it and paints the olfactory image of a wine barrel. There is a faint animal note that emerges after a few hours. Despite its heady notes, this fragrance is surprisingly comforting, transparent and also rather well-behaved with a discreet sillage. You’ll need to get close to someone’s pulse to smell this. The most beautiful part of this is that at the end of a very long day, this scent will unexpectedly bloom once again during a hot shower, like a farewell.

Open with crisp, dry red berries, and finishes with a delicate, worn, wood. On me, Bloody Wood didn't transform with time, but evolved beautifully. I personally love it. It certainly lives up to the "femme fatale" reputation that preceded it. A woman who wears this could also sport Narcotic V, Reine de Nuit etc. The "wine" note isn't as sharp and heady as you'd think (which I hoped would be the case because a straight up red wine note can get musty )- it's more of a red berry, which gives it a freshness that contrasts the woodiness. Rich, ruby pinks and deep espresso browns. A delicate, freshly picked flower on a chestnut bannister- it's light enough for a fresh day and deep enough for a fall evening. My problem with it? The same as with everyone else's: the sillage/longevity doesn't match the price. Too expensive for something that hugs too close... I don't understand why a deep base like this would diffuse so readily but I guess you can't always get what you want.

A misty, moonlit birch forest. A vampire on the prowl in the dead of night. An intimate, candlelit dinner party. Comes out with strong red wine, but not boozy in the slightest. Red berries, mostly cherry. I don't get the florals all that much, but there's definitely something there. On me it's a VERY smoky dry-down, lasting about 2 hours. Downsides: Low lasting-power and quite low silage. Someone will need to be within 2-3ft of you to discover it. I'd recommend applying two spritzes on the skin, and then maybe one on the hair/clothes about an hour later. Overall, a unique gourmand scent that intoxicates the nose and captures the imagination. Pretty unisex with a slight lean towards feminine for me. I love it. Update: I keep coming back to this one. It's one of those where you see the bottle on your shelf and just can't help going for a sniff. Absolutely delicious. This will certainly be a staple in my collection.

I really love this perfume. Unfortunately, I’m yet to purchase a full bottle, however it’s high up on my list. This is incredibly gorgeous. I love red wine notes in perfumery, as a matter of fact it’s my favourite note, and it has been done to perfection in this perfume. To me, this opens with tart, and slightly bitter fruits with dark woods that smell as if they’d soaked in red wine. The perfume progresses to a more sweet fruit and red wine scent before fading away. Unfortunately, this does not last particularly long or project very far on my skin, however, this makes it a perfect scent for an evening out in summer. Just fresh enough, elegantly boozy, but sweet and dark. This is a 10/10 for me. It would be an 11/10 if it had better performance!

This one is a masterpiece -- leaning mainstream, but still amazingly unique. Royal wine, cold, frigid fruity rose and majestic oak. I'd bought an 8 ml decant of this and it lasted me a long time, and after having gone to Europe for a summer holiday (again), I saw Bloody Wood and I just bought it, thinking I would NEVER find this in Australia (I was a few months out from moving back home), I regret doing do! I bought this for 175 EUR or so, and I ended up finding this for about 150 AUD a few years later, so I really REALLY overspent on this one. But anyway, this is a wonderful scent, perfectly fruity, rosey and boozy. It captures the best bits of those 3 realms and it just works -- definitely recommend this one.

Beautiful! forest, woody, mysterious and bloody .. beautiful the initial opening of the perfume with rose and violet that add to the sublime notes of wine. Not a heavy perfume, but it's there, wraps with a mysterious aura, and it is warm. Blood, slightly liqueur with a background of woods that, after a couple of minutes blend with the rest of the notes, revealing his character ... .. Romantic and slightly resinous, really nice! I really like, and I think they will buy .. Unfortunately the sillage is soft, and longevity is average (5-6 hours), but it is a good scent that may want to try. Recommended for the cold months (autumn) especially. Sillage: 6/10 Longevity: 6.5/10 Scent: 8.5/10 Overall: 8.5/10

something about this is so nostalgic and addicting. It reminds me of a combination of so many of my favorite fall memories; visiting my grandma on Halloween as a kid, the woodsy smell of outdoor Halloween parties in highschool, and my first time getting wine drunk on the cheapest fruitiest wine I could find. I love this! the wine, woods and tart fruits stand out most to me. I find the notes to blend together beautifully like an orchestra as opposed to alternating between notes. sadly tho this has the same issue as Blanche bete being absolutely delicious but only lasting about 3 hours on me:,(

The feeling of getting lost in an ancient library. Discovering a mad scientist's dusty lab covered in dry florals baked in sunlight. A glass of wine in the late afternoon as you spark the first fire to prep the evening's meal. I've seen other descriptors on here but I wanted to add a few more. I wish this juice could describe and project more to me. It's so weak but so delicious I use it to wind down from stressful days. Might come revisit this during dark and frigid winter months but when I first picked up a sample I was lost in the rich and smoky mood it provided.

This is made for vampires. A really unique scent, The red wine opens up fruity and boozy with a touch of rose after that it becomes woody dominant with incense and a slightly faded red wine. It's perfectly unisex especially in the opening but once it dries down it might lean a bit masculine. I got around 9 hours from this and it doesn't project heavily but people around you will notice it without a doubt. I must say this is not a safe scent but it's definitely worth trying out/sampling! This gets a love from me.

For a brief moment, it smells like the very sweet fruity red wine we would drink with high school friends in the forest. Then, it transforms into the weathered church near my aunt's house, where we would go each Sunday during my childhood summers. A sweet scent of holy water with some berries in the background, like the skin and perfume of the older solemn strangers and family members I would pass on the way to the seat. Something bigger than me, something holy, but at the same time sweet and familiar.

This fragrance has a rich sangria profile with fruity wine notes, dries down into a strong rose and woody/soft oud dry down. The projection isn’t very strong, but it’s definitely a unisex wine scent that lives up to its name. Imagine a deep red sangria glass sitting on a rustic wooden table, surrounded by fresh, dewy rose petals and scattered autumn leaves. The air is warm and fruity at first, then slowly shifts to rich, earthy wood tones mixed with the soft elegance of wilting roses.

This is so so good! A lot of cherry heavy perfumes end up smelling one dimensional and too syrupy sweet on my but with bloody wood, LLI proves once again how versatile they can be. I get a gorgeous woody heavy opening with a hint of wine and as it dries down, it becomes this dark, floral, sophisticated scent that gives it a gothic feel. Lasting power on me isn't too bad, i get about 3-4 hours, however there has been better. Overall 9/10 for me

I finished my decant today and I am absolutely sad. This fragrance wowed me in a way that very few fragrances do. I couldn't say what exactly about it drew me in but I just need to have a full bottle of this. It's seductive and a different kind of smoky. This probably wouldn't be for everyone. This smells like what I'd expect the inside of a Gothic European cathedral to smell like. It very much gives sinner vibes but it's magnificent.

honestly, i don't quite understand what makes this perfume so magnetic for me. it has a strange smell, almost like furniture polish or something. but i just can't imagine myself without it this autumn the woody notes overpowers the others, and i can barely detect the wine. somehow — and the color of the liquid is part of it — it evokes a strong association with vampires two words: absolutely gorgeous

Wow. Beautiful scent and something I could see myself wearing in every season. I love richer scents. This is one that I like to pair with my rose body oil right out of the shower. Not usually a fan of scents with a cherry note but it works so well here. The only complaint I have is that it doesn’t last very long, maybe 1-3 hrs.

Vampiric wine scent, I love it... It is dining with a vampire ( 1994 Interview with a vampire kind of vampire) in a fancy mansion... Before you yourself become the main course :D Liquides Imaginaires never miss, this is so, so good. I have a 10 ml decant of this for now, but I will get a full bottle someday, for sure.

wow...red wine and cherries! very apparent and quite potent! dunno how much i like this scent, but it IS amazingly unique! wonderful deep, dense alcoholic accord, kinda reminds me a little of 'apple brandy - by kilian' in its warmth and calm. lovely. need to try try TRY this one again...

Very well done. When you smell this there is only one color, RED Great blend with interesting frutty sweetness and sandalwood. There is some woody notes in the drydown, with boozy undertones. Only downside is performance, both sillage and longevity is not good.

got this for christmas a few years ago after researching it. my absolute go to signature scent!! beautiful dark and deep berry scent with gloomy, smoky undertones. makes me feel like a vampire at a party indulging in wine and fruit.

I swear this smells a bit like Womanity by Thierry Mugler. It's like a hot glass of wine meets the caviar and fig notes of Womanity. It's absolutely gorgeous to me. Not a good blind buy IMO. I would get a sample first.

The opening is not pleasant, it is too sharp, but once it softens, it smells very nice. It has a rose, cherry and wine scent. I think it would suit people who embrace gothic culture. It may not fit every style.

Unlike other people, I can pretty much smell the woody notes in this. It feels like I'm picking up berries in a dark, chilly forest.

This is one of the most artistic rose oud fragrances, just love it, everyone should have it in the collection, piece of art

An elegant, dark, and enjoyable fragrance, but the performance is terrible. The scent disappears after 10 minutes.

This perfume smells like the fairies in the forest in the backdrop of a Hozier song.

It literally smells like blood mixed with wine and raspberry with woody base.

I’m kinda shocked by how close this one sits to the skin... it’s almost undetectable. It really does smell good though, so I’d still give it 4/5 stars. It reminds me of a church, in a good way that’s a little reminiscent of CDG Avignon. It might be the mixture of wine with wood that reminds me of my first Communion at the Catholic church my family used to attend, before it was renovated and still had tacky 70s carpets and ancient wooden pews. Bloody Wood takes that nostalgic smell and makes it a little sexy. Along with the woodiness, rose and violet peek out from all these fruity notes that might otherwise make for a teeny bopper body spray, and give it an interesting depth. It smells warm in a way, when I put my nose up to my skin I get this weird smoky sensation even though I don’t think there’s any smoke in this fragrance. If this lasted longer and projected better, I could see it being a winter or fall signature scent for me. This is one of the few fragrances I can think of that actually work really well as an intimate skin scent, however I just prefer frags that get me noticed!

The scent is all about sweet red berries and flowers that bring a dark bloody undertone with them. It's like a person who works with cherry wine and chocolate in the day turns out to go for a bloody massacre at night. And it's happening among really aromatic red roses. I could only smell hints of wood notes, but not more than that. The fragrance is unusual—mysterious yet playful, easygoing yet dark. Maybe a bit too sweet for me, but that's individual. The problem is longevity and sillage... the scent fully disappears from my skin in an hour or two, and the sillage won't go further than somewhere near the skin. I think it's too weak for this composition. Also, the perfume's juice is quite strong in terms of colour, it will be okay to wear the fragrance only with dark clothes.

OK upon first sniff on blotter immediately L'Oreal Kids shampoo (you know the one in that weird shaped bottle with the eye on it) popped into my mind and now i cannot unsmell. The idea of a wine-inspired scent called Bloody Wood conjuring up children's shampoo from the 90s is v humorous to me, but that's really what I get. Where L'Oreal goes more shampoo-y and fresh, this goes more prune-ish. Like if you opened up the bottle and topped it off with some port. Is this a weird description? I don't know, but I'm liking it! Update in the drydown I get much more prune, wine, and almost a little olibanum. Visual: a beautiful but devastated young heiress on a hunger strike, locked in a castle, languid, and in mourning that she cannot marry her one true love.

The blend is really interesting and does produce a sort of blood and fire smell in the opening - a little bit metallic like biting your tongue too hard - then dries down to a more palatable sangria in a cask scent....but that faint smell of blood continues to linger in the background. I actually think the fact that this doesn’t project much is a plus. This would be weird as a scent bubble, but sitting close to the skin it feels like you’re keeping a sinister secret. Very Jennifer’s Body. A full price bottle might be tough to justify for the personal experience that this scent is, but I got it on FragrenceNet for a great price. If you can snag it that way and you like weird but still wearable, I’d say go for it.

Woody. Bloody at first. Rather for a male to love though anyone can love it. You cut a beautiful mighty tree during summer and your finger with it? Nearly, eh. You sit on the tree trunk or on grass near it and inhale - the scent of fresh wood is in the air, your finger in your mouth, trying to stop the blood flow and clean the wound. Now, you take out a bottle of wine out of your bag, the cork holds a tree bark scent, with a hint of wine. You take a sip and then relax. Surrounded by scents of the earth. It's tiny bit sweet, you have a cookie to chew on between wine sips. Quickly eaten it just stayed in fond memory. The scent is predominantly woody. It's natural. Pleasant. Comforting.

I describe this scent as a combination of three things: - Sangria made with a yeasty red wine - A solid woody aroma - An over-soaked menstrual pad (because of its metallic character) The sour cherry doesn't dominate the scent, which is good. I know there's no blood note in it, and I didn't let the name influence me, but I can tell you that it smells of aged blood. Not fresh blood, but blood that sat until it dried. Is it vampiric? It definitely is! I tested this over several days (and finished my decant tester). The scent is beautiful. On my skin, I pick up far more wood than it seems others do. It instantly transports me back to my time working in an old manor preserved as a museum—the same dry, smoky aroma of centuries-old wooden buildings. I definitely don’t get any trace of that so-called “coagulated blood” note! Unfortunately, I can confirm the performance is just as weak as so many others have reported. Even so, I still want a full bottle—I’m curious to see how it might evolve after some time to macerate.

This perfume immediately grabs me with the scent of a dusky, Victorian rose. It's a surprisingly sweet perfume that almost ages as it dries down into that sweet and murky wine scent. It's boozy, alluring, and something mysterious without being too noire. It's vampiric in such a classy fashion, like this is what I imagine the mains in Crimson Peak smell like. Simply gorgeous, but I don't think I could justify the $200 price tag, my review is probably a bit more positive since I only have the sample.

In the same league as Cape Heartache as far as being quirky,odd scents that I love. I have never smelled a wine scent and I must say that this is divine. The fruity and woody accords balance it out to give it depth and adequate silage. The fruity notes give it a vibrant and uplifting character, making it ideal for spring and summer.One that both sexes can wear with confidence.The biggest drawback would be the price tag. If it were priced like Cape Heartache I would surely get a bottle!

Muddled black cherries in sangria in the background. At the forefront: woody, churchy, incense. I don’t know why I’m getting such a strong incense vibe when it’s not even listed as a note- it might be just really strong woody notes. It’s a mysterious woody fragrance- not as fruity as I was expecting it to be based on reviews but the wine and fruit come out more in the drydown. Unique and unisex. Fit for a rebellious spirit. Would suit leather tights and a dark red lipstick.

I love the image and the aesthetics of Liquides Imaginaires, including the name of this fragrance, but it's nothing spectacular or truly original. It smells a lot like Guess 1981 Indigo for women (except that it's heavier and it has that rose and makeup smell that Guess doesn't have), which I love, and now I'm gonna appreciate it even more after trying BW! I wish this actually had a bloody-metallic note. It would be much more interesting and I'd consider saving up!

This expression gave me a hard time at first sniff. At the start it is kind of hard to like because the woody notes seem a little bit tricky to the nose, kinda hard to love but after 20 minutes the magic happens. This dry down is hands down one of the best I've ever smelled. The wine note is incorporated beautifully and is very sexy and addicting. Couldn't stop smelling it! Just for the drydown an 8/10. Going for the full bottle

smells heavily of dusted wine, i smell dirty florals as well when it dries down, wilted flowers. people say this smells like a vampire and that it's a vampiric scent but honestly it reminds me more of drinking aged wine in an old, fallen castle. the wood only shows up on skin for me; straight from the bottle, it’s almost entirely booze. strange, a little haunting, but beautiful in its own way. not for everyone. :>

Cherry-forward black muscat wine spilled on an oak table. Or rather, the scent of leftover black muscat that sticks to the walls of the oak barrel it was aged in. Quite the olfactory experience, I like that it leans less literal that its name would suggest. Arms length projection on me, got around 5 hrs with my sample. Best suited for cool weather, I think this would be a standout in spring or autumn.

Definitely get a fruity, dirty rose and woody undertones. It sits pretty close to the skin, and somehow these notes blend so well together that it comes across as slightly creamy and smooth. Can't see any rose lovers disliking this. For some reason this did not long last on my skin, so on clothes it would probably give a better performance.

That sour grape/rosey red wine scent with an incense-like woody notes produce this beautiful, mature woody, smokey fruity fragrance that is Bloody Wood. It smells like a basement of monastery in which they age wine & burn incense. Beautiful, but not worth the asking price, especially with that decent-at-best performance.

Got a sample. Upon initial test on skin, it’s a dry, slightly tart, slightly sweet, fruity wine (sangria) with generic woody base. It’s actually quite nice. I feel like this is what Shelly in The Crow would wear. But also somehow serious Vampire: The Masquerade vibes. Red wine with berry undertones, bouquet of red roses, in an old attic with dry red oak floors. Sadly the red wine note is very fleeting and so is the overall sillage with this one...
