Wow - third LI blind bottle purchase. The research and reviews here worried me a little but I put it through a filter and feel justified. I get the ‘old sweaty man in a leather jacket’ suggested connotation as per below but it is more complicated and beyond that. Admittedly a slightly demanding scent as per Norne Slumberhouse. Gorgeous leather as if soaked with cigarette (strange how no one mentions the strong Smokey presentation... hmm I wonder where everyone got their scent lol - and I don’t at all understand Q80’s old school reference at all) with a yellow sweet back up and complimentary deeper green herbaceous layer (more so detectable and very detailed nose to skin). The smokiness is what gets me - the woods backed up with Juniper and Clary Sage in a dry dusty storm. Again, as per Profumum Arso or Slumberhouse Norne there is a campfire smokiness hovering. Very much a winter/cold scent. May be hard work for some smelling it at distance Or overtime but there seems to be a time/proximity bubble that evolves it and you just find it delish. The treat would be for your loved ones whom snuggle up to you where (like pushing past a force field) the detail up close is warming and delightful - the woods are distinct and more prominent, the herbs adding nuanced but clear detail and the petitgrain and bergamot graduating it all smoothly to a fresh slightly citric and soapy polish. I find it very warming and relaxing like lying on a leather couch in front of a smoky fire, a soft citrus candle and a row of pots of planted herbs on the room window ledge. The spices and herbs give the slight sweaty masculine feel for a period early on however it’s not as prominent as say in Calaj BlackBeard (which I love) which smells like a sweaty old mans beard lol. No, this is a slightly left of field scent that is well done and could easily tick a leather or an aromatic box either way. I find it such a journey... try before you buy is my suggestion...

Now *this* is a surprise! This is the one I expected to hate from the first batch of the collection I got and it turns out, it's my favorite by far and wide. I will be honest, I'm not the most manly guy around. Overly masculine scents kind of turn me off and usually I don't wear them well at all. When I saw this was a leather with a tinge of animalic I was out already. I'm glad I got it because this is amazing! On initial spray on skin I get a blast of leather and smoke, as someone said the same kind of accord as TF's leather without the fruitiness. I also get a horse saddle kind of vibe which I found myself rather enjoying. This is backed by a good dose of herbal, kind of medicinal smoke (likely from galbanum). As it dried down, I picked up an odd but very appealing cooked basmati rice vibe (like pilau rice or something but with terragon instead of cumin) and further in, a tinge of powder but not like a creamy powder, more like a dusty sandalwood (which makes sense since the whole scent seems based around a "wild stallion of light". So yes, I picture a horse galloping through dusty, sandy terrain. As such, this is obviously a more mature fragrance, some would say grandpa-ish but I wouldn't go that far. It's just a more serious, warmer scent suited for the colder months. I'm just 40 and I feel very warm and confident wearing this. I'm also surprised at the longevity of this one. Perhaps it's because of my skin chemistry but on me this lasts a good 6-7 hours with the first 2-3 hours giving good projection, a rare feat for LLI's perfumes. It did stick close to skin after the initial few hours but people still picked it up easily around me. My SO was very surprised and found it very sexy on me which also surprised me since he's used to more floral, unisex leaning fragrances on me. So all in all, a very surprising and positive experience and my favorite of the house so far!

Edit: to previous review. This has really grown on me. Maybe I’m in a better mood or it’s working better on my skin but the sweaty man in leather connotations (not that I had a prob with that per se) are now far from my mind when I wear this (unlike say Blackbeard). No, when I wear this my brain only acknowledges that this is a super strong well built natural leather with herbaceous layering - mostly clary sage topped with fir and some smoke on a complimentary wood. Such quality - wow! Not necessarily for everyone though and like say Norne by Slumberhouse not really for business dress. Very male centric. And... for once the note vote here is really spot on but I will put that down to the demographic with experience whom would gravitate to this sort of high end product! It’s sad that this is not getting hype it deserves but me, I’ll consider this my hidden gem for 2020.

Lovely enjoyable woody scent, it’s perfectly balanced most notably at the opening is Cypress which is smooth and feels nice that makes me keep sniffing it, I’m also picking up kind of smoky leathery note, leather here is unlike other leathery perfumes, it’s soft and clean, going to the dry down you will feel such a beautiful sweetness while keeping the feel of masculine. Some Black Afgano is also slightly notable! It sets a little bit close to my skin for 3 - 4 hours, however on clothes has better performance and longer projection. In brief Buveur De Vent is a cozy woody leathery smoky and sweety scent, I think can perform well in warm days on spring, of course nice for cold winter days, however I’m excited to give it a try on summer. Longevity: 9/10 Projection: 8/10 Sillage: 8/10 Recommended

Outstanding leather scent. This is a very modern interpretation of a men's leather chypre. Overall, it smells like "fresh leather". I completely disagree with the person who said that it smells animalic. It smells like a very good quality American leather. A Chromexcel from Horween mixed with cypress, cedar, herbal touches, and just a bit of labdanum to give it some softness and sweetness. Again, it's not animalic nor is it smokey. This is not Leatherize. This is not Corpus Equus nor is it Fumoir. Very, very far from it! The leather here reminds me of one of the Memo Paris ones, but I don't remember which one. Outstanding quality ingredients; it smells very natural. Long lasting, and good projection. All year round fragrance. A fragrance for a "man's man". Not unisex, imo.

Buveur de Vent is my first encounter with Liquides Imaginaires, and it’s definitely motivated me to go out and discover more from this house. This scent is a gorgeously unique and captivating aromatic leather scent with heaps of masculinity herbal charm. The leather accord is dry and thick, quite old school and musty at the same time which is contrasted by sharp aromatics of cypress and sage which give it an almost fougere feel. A heavy dose of soft cedar and creamy mosses are furthered by the sweet fruitiness of juniper and herbaceous greenness of tarragon. All of these notes envision an old leather knapsack resting on an earthy, mossy forest floor. Overall this is a fantastic scent, a really unique take on leather and a fragrance which I’ve rarely seen anyone talk about.

Reviewing a bottle from 2024. Buveur du Vent was launched in 2019. This is an aromatic leather fragrance that manages to be raw and elegant at the same time. It opens with slightly smoky leather and cypress with a touch of bergamot. The leather mellows with the added resinous woods at the base.Subtle sweetness and bitterness. Herbal with barely there florals . Very well blended .This is the most beautiful leather fragrance that I have smelled. Quality- excellent 4.5/5 Unisex- mostly leans masculine performance- very good 4/5 Stunning leather aromatic woody fragrance. This would be very sexy on a man - wild horses could not keep me away. 9.0/10

Dense and a bit dark herbal-woodiness which then branches off into slight animalic leatheryness along with the bitterness, sharpness and fougère-like qualities of juniper berries. Parallel to all this commotion, something oudy and smokey is also at play. You have to dig down several layers of tough masculinity to find an infinitesimal hint of sweetness. The drydown is reminiscent of many smokey leathery fougères (with a sweet streak) that have been crafted to death. But I love this one. There's something special about it. The scent reminds me of Lemy Kilmister.

I recently bought this fragrance after 2 months of having a blotter with the scent in my wallet, also tried it 3 times in store. It got me since the first sniff, I tried other scents but this was, and still is, my favorite one. The leather note is delicious, it is soft and the performance is really good, lasts more than 10 hours on skin. I have tried it only in winter but later I will give a better review, by the moment I have to say I am happy with my purchase, it feels good quality, not cheap at all.

A certain bitterness, the leather appears woody and smoky - it feels like a best-of of the smell of a cigarette being smoked. Extremely worldly. Best used outdoors. And for cool weather. Dusty, aromatic and earthy too. Rolling in the lawn on a sunny summer day, the smell of post-gardening hands, these things are not far away from it at all. The overall ambiance is that of a leather sofa, a crackling fireplace nearby. PS: definitely a “mature” scent

First sniff I’m blown away. So much smokier than I expected. Dominant smoky leather and woods with some gorgeous herbal and aromatic edges. To me it’s in the same vein as those smoke-centric campfire frags like zoologist t-Rex and Holy Mountain by Apoteker Tepe, but with more of a green, sappy, vegetal quality. Super complex and addictive.

A much softer, more wearable version of Orto Parisi's Cuoium. Shocked that no one made that connection. This is absolutely nothing like Interlude. No balsamic Incense to speak of. But it is a very nice peppery leather. Very well blended and easy to wear. Performance is about perfect, where Cuoium is just nuclear and suffocating. Well done!

Good juice, gosh i love it! I have all my eyes on liquides imaginaires from now on. Its in the same wave on amouage or initio but smooth and fun scent i would say, but only in first hour. Night time, friends, dates also. Leathery, little incense i feel for sure, some citrus and sage but its gone in 30 minutes! Above 35 years old

Dusty aromatic strong leather presence with beautifully mixed woody supporting notes (cedar, cypress and oakmoss). Just dipping along dry-down into sweet territory, but overall remains a masculine (and slightly bitter) spicy-woody-leathery scent. Good performances in a classy composition, recommended.

First impression It is the most beautiful genius leather fragrance I got to known so far! The other one I like is 1740 from Histoires de Parfums. And what I dislike are Tom Fords leathers. I mean they are great scents, just not my taste. Buveur de Vent however, makes me want to buy it straight away.

The quality of the notes are fantastic! Its nice, nightout, dark, above 35. Projection ok Longevity ok 7.5/10

A beautiful aromatic leathery fragrance, love it

This basically comes close to Russian leather, infused with a subtle smoky animalic undertone. While it is entirely wearable, it lacks the softness and silkiness of the tea notes in the Molton Brown. It does have a slight vintage chypre vibe that I truly appreciate, although I think the perfumer might have went a bit overboard on the clary sage, which gives off a play dough-like scent initially. As it evolves, it settles into a base of raw hide leather, cade oil, and cypress, creating a very dry, smoky, and somewhat bitter scent profle. Very masculine and best suited for a mature gentleman. It seems like everybody else here is picking up on smoke, except for certain individuals. I can only suggest they reassess their sense of smell, as this scent is far from those basic memo leathers. There is nothing sweet going on here, there is nothing playful, this is truly the essence of raw, dry leather at its best. The brand describes this fragrance as "Inspired by the sturdy leather saddle of a majestic horse, leaving an unforgettable trail. The scent embodies strength and glory, capturing the essence of this magnificent creature". I can agree with that statement.

Buveur de Vent opens to a splendid cypress note, beautifully dry and hedgy, wafting like incense, into the customary sour pulp of petitgrain and bergamot, that digs its heels into dusty leather straps sheathed in herbaceous greenery and balsamic classicism of tarragon, sage, galbanum, juniper, lavender and mate, blowing en masse as smoky flora, tastefully enriched by a resinous base featuring an equally splendid oakmoss note, cloaked with cedar and sandalwood and in particular, the ornate birched amber of labdanum, that simply deepens and offers a slightly sweet nicety to the composition as a distinguished knock-on wood, managing to gracefully embrace sentimental nuances and delicately revamp the vegetal drift for today’s exorbitant niche...Yes, Buveur du Vent is a redolent aromatic that hallmarks the verdant spicy fumes of celery’s past (Yatagan, Clubman Special Reserve, Cabochard) but one with a contemporary pulse that whiffs like a zesty parchment of papyri, one anointed vinegary on a sylvan base, that salutes the legume heyday with a prevalent oriental twist that breathes as a luxurious zephyr... Riding with the wind, indeed!

oh wow this is so beautiful and is so nostalgic. This smells like someone's rich grandpa (but like in an amazing way). Like the Grandpa who wears nice sweaters, and smokes a pipe, and supports his grandkids when his own children dont and slips them money without anyone noticing... That like classic charming older gentleman. It's smokey and leathery but still feels fougere at the same time. It reminds me of a more coniferous versions of Atelier Marrakech by Cerche Nell'Acqua. Definitely the cypress note is most prominent in the opening and the heart and drydown is where the leather and smokiness steal the show, but this is lovely and I am immediately slipping it into my boyfriend's wardrobe so I can start smelling it on him :) Very James Bond-esque to me.

Befriending a Monster. It isn't offensive, nor it is aggressive, it's just a monster that stands and looks at you. One of the most pungent leather aromatics I ever came across jet if you apply it right it can be worn anywhere (no hot heat summer days). First tarragon and leather hits you hard almost repulsive if you spray too much, as it dries down leather gets darker and cypress makes it earthier and it gains just a little bit of condensed sweetness. While walking you may be eager to smell it on your wrist or in a crock of your elbow, but don't just let it be there, it will come to you. Mysterious, dark, elegant even tame in the air...but if you try it up close it may just bite you. For me:7.5/10

Got this as a 2ml sample and sampled it twice, the first time I HATED it, reminded me of an old man in a forest lol, but the second time I wore it, I got a completely different vibe. The cypress smelled completely different, combining with the other aromatics really well. It dries down over 30 mins to a BEAUTIFUL leathery incense. I can see the Amouage interlude idea, but this is very different, because after 5 hours I get this incredible smokiness that combines with milder woody notes to produce a scent reminiscent of your rich grandpa who drives a classic car. This is NOT blind buy safe! Very cool scent for middle aged guys, 45+ years old. Rating: 4.25/5 Recommendation: sample first

Smoky, green, coniferous elements meet leather and cold spices. The leather here feels suedy and dense. I get a modern Yatagan or Devin-type situation from this, but the Caron's archaisms were stripped away and replaced with a more contemporary, slick, and slightly bitter-sweet leather.

You are walking through a rainy forest somewhere deep in state Washington and suddenly you trip over the decomposing animal. It has been for approximately 24 hours, so its flesh is still fresh and the smell is mostly sweet. Green and rainy rainforest, wet soil and a beautiful dead doe.

Buveur de Vent reminds me of Roja Apex. However, Apex has a bright citrus opening that Buveur de Vent lacks. Also, Apex has a more prominent cypress note. Even though not listed, I'm picking up on a tobacco accord with this fragrance.

An amazing Cypress note perfume

Buveur du Vent by Liquides Imaginaires was a sample given to me in my last perfume order. I love samples since they are always a surprise. This one, on the other hand, was not a very positive surprise for me. On paper, it smells nicely, fresh and elegant. It reminds me of a man working in business, organized, suit but no tie, freshly shaved, hair combed back, smiling, characteristic. A scent that would definitely fit a man on a daily basis going to work. Not necessarily a scent you would wear outside in summer because it could be very suffocating. A little bit too much for my nose, nothing extraordinary, but not too bad either. This can fit every mainstream man in a suit, nothing you can do wrong with this perfume (except for using too much), but nothing that would make you stand out. For me, it lacks a little bit of personality. It seems like something you would expect what a man in a suit smells like.

Edit. After another sampling, I get a smoky yet bright opening because of the Cypress & Juniper. Almost smells minty. Subtle hint of sweetness that I wish lasted. I can make a case for wearing this in the warm weather because of the perceived mintiness. Certainly a Spring/Fall scent. Projection is moderate. I recently picked up a sample and I really don't know what to make of it. It starts out with a strong, dry patchouli-like scent (even though there is no patchouli in it) along with an evergreen scent. Leather is supposed to be prominent but to me is unrealistic. Then it moves to a medicinal cypress/cedar, settling on a very smoky incense woody. Seems like it can be a nice, smart, mature smoky woody. I like it...I don't like it...I like it...I don't like it. :-) Smells nothing like Interlude Man. I suggest you sample first.

My first impression was that this smells like a leather couch. Then, on second thought, my mind said, “No... a leather coat.” One somebody has been wearing for a while. This smells like an old man - emphasis on OLD man - wore cologne in a smoky bar, then lent you his jacket at the end of the night. It’s woody and slightly sweet, like a more elevated BRUT aftershave. It also has a dank, almost mildewy quality that is making me want to take only shallow breaths for the moment. (I’m allergic to mildew.) I get the feeling this would smell better further away, perhaps if someone was wearing it across the table from me. Up close, on my own body, it’s just too much. I don’t hate it, but it’s a fragrance I’d rather smell on my uncle than on myself. Headed to scrub this off in the shower, PRONTO! UPDATE: Even after showering, it’s still there. That should be a plus for anyone who likes this fragrance. Longevity will definitely not be a concern.

Blindly got this one as a young woman because it said 'Unisex' on the website I ordered it on and oh boy... It's definitely NOT unisex. I feel a bit repulsed by the smell on the opening and when i let it sit, not at all what I imagined seeing the website's desciprtion (or maybe I have a bad smell lol who knows). For me, it smells the same as when I enter a big shoe store : the leather scent is very present ! It's definitely not for everyone, but I think some men could really pull it off very well during the evening / night

We all love a good redemption arc in fragrance and this one was a doozy. I remember being given this 10ml sample months ago along with many others and giving it a very furtive sniff off a tester strip at the time and wondering what was going on. I didn't like it at all. It felt like I'd been hit by a train. Who wears this stuff? Latterly I got my nose on it again recently and tried it on skin and the experience was... profoundly different. I struggle to reconcile even now that it was the same fragrance. It absolutely floored me, in the best way possible. Buveurs Du Vent by Liquides Imaginaires is a massively powerful, very intense leather set against some piney pale woods and a veritable garden full of green aromatics. The leather is somewhere between worn saddle leather and what a stiff new leather biker jacket smells like and is intoxicating. You need to love leather a lot to love this one and I very much do as any regular followers of my reviews may know. I have a more tenuous relationship with pine, cypress and oakmoss but it is done superbly here. The stroke of genius is the way the labdanum in the base ties it together. I cannot believe how good this is. Just.... wow. I'd rank this right up there with Jordi Fernandez's best work. I am starting to realise that Les Liquides Imaginaires is very much in my wheelhouse in terms of the work they do. I had a similarly profound positive experience with Shyamala Maisondieu's wonderful Abyssis as well. Thick leather and green aromatics tied together with some incense vibes and a sprinkle of bergamot. Yeah. It isn't conventional, that is for sure. But the effect is astonishing in that way that we addicted nozzle junkies love to be astonished by perfumery. Unrelentingly masculine and confident, it is a fragrance that changes how you feel when you when you wear it. That is the power of fine fragrance and Buveur Du Vent is a wonderful example. This is the sort of scent that people remember you wearing. Three Word Summary - A Stunning Surprise Layering suggestion - Encens Suprem by Atelier Versace would work very well. Outfit - I would absolute smash this at work. This is the good navy blue suit, crisp white shirt, no tie, slip on brown penny loafers and the Seadweller on the wrist. Bring it! Scent - 10/10 Drydown - 9/10 Sillage - 10/10 Bottle/packaging - 8/10 Performance - 7/10 44/50

I presented my husband with three or four choices from my LLI Discovery Set - which would he like to smell on me? We were about to take a little trip and I usually take a new scent or two to try out. I was absolutely shocked that he chose this one and, I think, Fleur de Sable. Anyway, I loved this one, but I was 100% sure he wouldn’t choose it for me. Why? Well, it’s mature. And I don’t mean Bank of England mature, but rather, a scent that I believed might only be appreciated by more “experienced” noses. I think I had forgotten that it doesn’t take an expert to enjoy the way something smells. Doesn’t that sound ridiculous? But it’s true, and I was pleased to be reminded. I wore it that weekend, and it made me feel elegant. I could smell it on myself all day and on my clothes the next day. It also never occurred to me that this scent might be considered more masculine, or more of a “men’s” fragrance, until I saw all of the reviews before my own. So. In short: for the ladies - I know at least one man who likes to smell it on women. For the men - it looks like many of you here already approve.

I can’t make up my mind on this. The opening into the heart is nice it actually reminds me of last season by meo fusciuni sorry if I butchered the spelling yall know who im talking about. But there’s something common in this one that makes it smell very cologney. But it isn’t perceptible enough to completely ruin this. Last season is totally devoid of this and I’m dying to own that one day so I won’t be needing this. The final dry down is annoying though. Kinda gave me a headache but that period from the beginning 8 hours onwards is very beautiful. Sad that I guess the materials just aren’t what they need to be for me at least

I had the pleasure of sampling this on paper and found it to be a one accord perfume. Stable leather. Fittingly, it is inspired by beautiful and elegant Arabian horses. It is quite a harsh leather at first, but dries down to a softer version of itself. It smells moneyed and chic. If you're looking for a leather fragrance, this would be a great place to start. Smells like all of the base notes from the dirtier aventus batches between 2011-2015, I also find it similar to Noir Anthracite TF. Literally smells like a dirty Aventus without the tropical notes just the base notes and a splash of Interlude man.

Basil, hint of chamomille, leather, patchouli and cypriol. Starts out very herbal but slowly transitions to a sweet, leathery, almost oud-accord scent with a green hue skulking in the background throughout. Pleasant actually.

On paper, it smells like a more airy, aromatic version of oud for greatness (which is a good thing in my opinion). But unfortunately, on my skin it's reminiscent of burnt paper/wood with some soap in the background

In terms of scent, it is not similar to Interlude in any way, but the overall feeling and atmosphere is very close to Interlude. A mysterious and strange scent. With a slightly medicinal vibe. Unwearable for me.

Like a more aromatic, soft leathery Interlude Man. A classy older gentlemans scent. Beautiful smoky accord here, i would recommend this for a rainy fall and winter day.

Sweet Sage. Juniper, petitgrain, sage, lime, oakmoss, and cypress. It's overly bitter than leather. I see this as a modern 80s powerhouse common blend. Meh.
