L’Ile Pourpre

"According to legend, Phoenician and ancient Greek travellers were drawn to an extraordinary island whose outline was wreathed in shining purple. Surrounded by the lush vegetation of the island they found a previously unknown fruit with a new and intense flavour. Its juice was so abundant that it had coloured the surrounding rocks and cliffs, giving the island its radiant and mystical aura. This mysterious purple nectar was used in perfume and to colour fabrics and became so valuable that it was reserved solely for the gods." - my perception of the perfume vibe exactly. The island is indeed fragrant with ripe juicy figs and is surrounded by salt water. The mineral aspect of the composition is very appealing, gives a mediterranian feel of early morning, fresh linens and white shirts. Luckily for me, shiso leaf is toned down quite a bit and is not as pronounced as in "De Bachmakov" from The Different company. I have been wearing Ile Pourpre in cold spring, but my guess is that it will be a tad sharper in colder months and a little bit sweeter in the summer. The bottle is lovely and weird as it feels both modern and ancient at the same time.

This is my first time wearing and i love it so far! Has an elixir feel to it with all of the aromatics and herbs. Very versatile, very multi dimensional, very complex. This is a fragrance for smart people. I envision a woman wearing this who owns an antique shop or something like that, and she wears nice clothes and wears beautiful antique jewellery she has collected from estate sales. She isnt basic and doesn't do basic things. She is the kind of person who indulges but not how most indulge on french fries and beer, no no, this woman orders the steak tartare and very nice bottle of red, gets facials and feels out of sorts if she misses her weekly acupuncture appointment. She has a terrarium, an old record player, and is as graceful as a gazelle. Update: this reminded me of something else, i couldnt place it but just figured it out- my daughter used to love a lotion by aveda - i think stress fix— it was just like this herbal and kinda medicinal and green. It is very similar to that scent!

Bergamot and ginger are the dominant opening notes, but L’Ile Pourpre quickly turns into a spicy fig compote and it’s a beauty. Some unusual added herbal elements with shiso, artemisia and angelica in the mix. I had a feeling I was going to love L’Ile Pourpre by looking at the pyramid and I do. Too bad it’s so fleeting. It’s only apparent on my skin for about an hour, and when it’s gone it’s vanished with no trail or sign it was ever here. But for that one hour it’s absolutely divine. I don’t like testing from a dauber, sprays always work better on me so that could be part of the problem too. And L’Ile Pourpre might work better in heat so I’ll wear it in warmer temps before making a decision. But my oh my, that opening is to die for!

I may have lost count of the LLI perfumes I would like a full bottle of, but this one is definitely close to the top of that list. So interesting but so hard to describe - beautiful zesty, aromatic and slightly fruity opening, great projection creating an aromatic cloud around me, the combination of fig and artemisia and some spices in the heart is just so lovely But then the soft base comes through and somehow it reminds me of classical perfumes, slightly vintage or something. perhaps it's the cashmere with whipped cream, I don't know, but creates a powdery note of perfumes I would remember from childhood... I really mean it in the best way possible and wouldn't want anyone to think it's old fashioned. Just quite unique

a superb assortment with boozy citrus and liquorish green leaves sprouting so vividly, cohered in such an enticing way with strikingly zesty woods in the middle notes, the freshly peeled off fruits smell so unthinkable here, the transcendental florals and narcotic ambers in the heart accords are used in a very frank and allaying approach through the vertebrae of this olfactive embodiment, it thaws in so splendidly with balsamic and nutty accords in the sub stream compounds so that I feel the same joy like opening presents in front of a Christmas tree as if I could smell the spicy candies hanging on that tree, the ginger-cinnamon hot chocolate that someone drinks in the room and the odor of the eggnog coming from behind

I have had a full bottle of this for about a year. Havent worn in a while but decided to try in hot weather. It was even better than i remember! This is aromatic, wearable, unique, spa like and definitely niche. It reminds me of aveda stress fix lotion. It is well blended and no sharp edges. I can smell it all day here and there. To me this is not sweet at all. Could go unisex but i think i prefer for feminine side. I want to layer with something for fun but i am undecided as to what... If you are looking for something different i would give this a try. It is different and messages a “i am my own person, i am calm, i am unshakeable” vibe. Today i layered with Kiehls musk and i really enjoyed this combo!

I had smelled it years ago and it stuck with me and finally pulled the trigger on a full bottle. I love it although I shouldn’t. It’s weird cause when I focus to smell it, I hate it. The fenugreek is pretty strong to my nose and smells like a spice shop. But when I blur out and not focus too much to single out anything., I love it. It’s very well balanced. A bit tangy, a bit spicy, a tad bit sweet, a bit herbal, a bit creamy. Very unisex. Mysterious and modern. Not too dark not too sparkly. Quietly enigmatic. Appears intellectual but can only be appreciated when you stop intellectualizing it. Can be worn day or night. Can’t wait to wear it out.

One word: glögg (mulled wine). This is exactly what I get from it: dried fruits, slightly winey (not as in alcoholic, more like overripe fruits?) and slightly green as well. I found it beautiful but sadly, on my skin it's very short lived, like 1-2 hours projection then skin scent for another 2-3 hours. It's a shame because it's a very pretty scent. It's juicy yet green, earthy and tart. Medicinal, even. I find it very natural and comforting. Perfect scent for a cold rainy fall day. Definitely unisex. I see it as less of a wearable day scent for work, more as a centering, self-aromatherapy kind of deal. Either way, I dig it.

This is surprising, and this juice is definitely sweetly addictive, I get the same smell firstly as the candy necklace, but it settle into something soft, sweet definitely tangy, I was drawn all day to my wrist in order to get a whiff, I will consider getting a bottle This one is strangely warm and fresh at the same time and the balance is beautifully done Edit : I bought myself a bottle, and yup totally worth it, obviously sampling before hand is the key, but this is so unique and addictive, it’s a real love, like a love a first snif. I’m not often awestruck to this extent by a perfume

This is a masterpiece. It's a spicy and warm fragrance that opens green with some ginger but then dries down with warm and creamy fig that's powdery with the slightest hint of sweetness. This fragrance is not for anyone who enjoys sweet gourmands. It's mature, dark and mysterious. It is intoxicating with an almost booziness but not a cloying one due to the powderiness.....its very dry. This fragrance lasts 10 hours on my skin and days on clothes if left. I can't stop smelling myself when I wear this. It can be worn during winter but also in the summertime. Best for evenings/nights.

It has a very faintly sweet, licorice and mysterious smell. Its French meaning is the purple island. It really does smell like a vibrant purple and violet It's strange that I don't get any fig or ginger smell from it. It smells musky and especially Heracleum persicum ( Iranian traditional plant named: Golpar) to me. یه بوی خیلی کم شیرین، مشروبی و مرموز داره. معنی اش از فرانسه، جزیره بنفش هست. واقعا هم بوی بنفش و ارغوانی زنده ای میده عجیبه که هیچ بوی انجیر و زنجبیل ازش نمیگیرم. بوی بوزی و بخصوص گلپر مانند برایم داره

This is a fragrance you have to give some time, but if you like dark, gothic perfumes, you'll love it - and I do. To be honest, the first whiff i got when i opened the bottle was...fish. And I thought "oh no". But I gave it a second on my skin and wow, it turns into this lovely fig scent. This is why i say give it some time. I can imagine if you only smell it from the bottle you'll despise it. This is how I imagine Mina Harker smells like. Dark, gothic, antique - lovely.

A balanced scent. Many fragrances attempt to achieve what L’Ile Pourpre does: it's a perfect mix of sweet, spicy, and green without becoming headache-inducing or boring. For me, there's something unexpectedly romantic about the mixture of figs and ginger. The warm, enveloping, and indulgent scent of figs combined with the pungent, sweet zestiness of ginger is divine. You can consider me a fan

I almost started crying smelling this one. That is how utterly gorgeous this is. Green fig, strong boozy fruits and something herbal I cannot decide on what it is. Resinous, surely and ultra bright, yet balsamic. I adore fragrances that are paradoxical. Green, sweet, syrupy, tart, bold. So very sexy. Edit: Sadly, I don’t like it anymore. I think my complicated niche phase is over, hahaha.

This is so gorgeous! That warming opening with ginger, Shiso and bergamot over the fig, blended with that base of cedar and ambroxan just does it for me! Such a fantastic blend, and it keeps getting better. I wore this on a breezy, mild summer evening and it was just spectacular! Super sensuous and classy. I didn’t expect this to be a love, but it just is. Full bottle worthy immediately.

The opening is beautiful and intoxicating with ginger, a dark fig accord and some tartness from the bergamot and shiso. Has a fruity character but very well grounded in a woody/patchouli chypreish base. Unique, elegant and restrained, unisex leaning masculine. It quickly dries into a captivating fig/ambroxan/patchouli base. Intriguing composition but rather short-lived.

It smells great, yes, great non-foody, woody- fig perfume, with best technical qualities. As a plus, no animal testing and no selling to mainland china. Everything abt this perfume is worth the cents. Just want to add something, as an info. It s not a perfume with a long shelf life, won t last more than 2 years. Keep it in a fridge if you want it longer.

The perfume strapped on little rocket boots and launched itself to the top of my favorite figs. It’s a jammy fig, warmed by ginger and garnished with the intoxicating greenness of shiso. So many fig scents use their own leaves for their green accord and I just can’t put into words how unique, beautiful and complimentary the choice of shiso leaf is here.

It was an obsession from first sniff, my mom and dad loved it equally. Very unusual and yet beautifully made perfume, it takes you to a magical place. The ginger and Angelica really do shine, this is such a fresh and zingy yet musky and warm one. I have a great appreciation for this house, I’ve tried 5 perfumes each better than the other. Brilliant 🤩

Sweet, fruity, spicy anjelica opening morphing into green fig and patchouli. The base is creamy musk and lots of ambroxan. A fig scent for people who don’t usually like fig maybe? Unusual and addictive. Fades very quickly for an EDP so I’m not sure it’s worth the price tag. I do absolutely love it though, would probably still buy it.

I just tried Euphoria by Calvin Klein for the first time and I can't help but draw the comparison to L'Ile Pourpre. L'Ile Pourpre is compositionally far more sophisticated and interesting than Euphoria, but they are very much related through their shared tart fruit notes and that subtle whipped cream in the base.

i really enjoy it. really loved the angelica, fenugreek, and fig notes along with the spiciness of the ginger and the brightness of the shiso and bergamot, and all of this comes together as an experience that feels like a hazy memory with the slight powderiness, cashmeran, and the ambroxan... super beautiful.

So beautiful.....I reviewed this ions ago, but I have to mention how nice it is on summer nights as well. That fig combination.....drives people crazy. They always want to know what it is and where they can buy. This is an unspoken hit by company. Perfect for fall also. Slightly spicy, fruity and delicious.

If you like Phlur's Hanami you will most likely enjoy this too. They are both a dry, smoked and ashy fig that almost smells like burnt paper or a stale room full of clothes to my nose, but in a good way. It's a weird note that smells old timey and very familiar. Very well-blended, balanced and easy to like.

A bite-sized, sweet and juicy piece of fruit nestled in a cloud of soft, green woodiness. Definitely an impression of fig--not photorealistic. Absolutely delightful, nonetheless. Perfectly unisex. FB worthy. Wish it lasted a little longer but it's so lovely and unique that I don't mind.

love it, totally giving serious dinner party full of everything indulgent. fancy place settings and eating with your hands. gravitated to it for the fenugreek and stayed for fig ginger and shiso. the color of the bottle really does match the smell inside. pungent but warm.

Something about this scent is so refreshing and shocking to the senses- like taking a ginger shot for your nose. I love it and Liquides Imaginaires continues to impress me with their accessible but unique creations!!

Beautifully blend of crisp ginger, winey velvety base with a surprising energetic tartness. Absolutuley beautfull. Abysmal performance, less then one hour. I'm not sure if the price is justifiable.

wow that's all i can say !I love it, from about 50 niches,kilian,creed,francis kurkdjian ,initio and more perfumes this one became one of my 10 favorites. Scream expensive classy and mysterious!

This perfume to me is not unlike Irene Adler to Holmes: she eclipses and predominates the whole of her type. I shall call her "the fruity", though it's not fruity in any traditional sense.

This perfume is really amazing, it is one of the best perfumes in the world, it is one of the most fragrant scents in the world. I will have this perfume with me for the rest of my life

Amazing anyway, but layered over Desert Suave takes it to the next level. The dry down with the added dates and sesame is just something else.

#148 of My Fragrance Journey - Les Liquides Imaginaires L'Île Pourpre: The Island That Refused to Stay First impression, not gonna lie, wasn't love. It's almost medicinal off the spray - cool, green, a little clinical, like crushed herbs left to dry next to some old wooden boat. I actually second-guessed the whole bottle for a second there. Then it just... lets go. Give it a few minutes and the sharpness dissolves into something way more elegant. Shiso leaf is the one doing the real talking here - sits somewhere between mint, basil, and violet leaf but doesn't really belong to any of them. Cool, aromatic, refined rather than loud, and honestly it's the reason the whole thing works. The fig is not what you're expecting if you've smelled other fig fragrances. This isn't the sun-ripened, sliced-open-on-a-table kind. It's darker. Greener. People online keep calling it a jammy black fig, and I just don't get that from it - on my skin it smells like the tree itself, leaves and bark and fruit still hanging in the shade, not served up. Ginger gives it a small spark, and davana adds this liqueur-like richness that somehow never tips over into actual sweetness. That's the whole trick of this fragrance, really - it lives in contradiction. Green but rich. Fresh but weirdly sensual. Sweet-adjacent without ever being a gourmand. It refuses every box you try to put it in. Blending's genuinely impressive too. You've got herbal, spicy, woody elements all happening at once and none of it feels like separate pieces bolted together. After a while you stop trying to name notes and just sit in the atmosphere of it - sophisticated, a little mysterious, restrained in that distinctly French way. And compared to most fig fragrances leaning hard into coconut or milky sap or sugar, this one wears more like tailored linen. Cedar, cashmeran, ambroxan underneath, giving it a dry woody base rather than anything musky or heavy. I remember one afternoon it hit me properly - late light cutting across a concrete room, everything in these slashes of dark and shadow, a linen chair still holding warmth from someone who'd just left it. That's the mood this fragrance lives in. The chill softens into something darker and more secretive - not the loud fig-market sun, more like a fig tree kept entirely in shade. It's still there if you go looking, faint, five or six hours in, but it's a skin scent by then, nothing more. For what this costs and what it's clearly trying to be, I get why people wish it held on a bit louder. There's something almost funny about a fragrance inspired by some mythical, undiscoverable island ending up this hard for other people to actually notice on you. But maybe that's fitting, in a way. Not every beautiful place needs to be crowded. Some places are only for the people willing to stick around long enough to find them. Vibe: Shiso leaf and damp bark. A fig tree kept in shade. Cool stone courtyard air. Performance: Strong and atmospheric for the first half hour, then it pulls back fast into a quiet skin scent - still faintly there five to six hours later if you go looking. Fit: For someone who'd rather be discovered slowly than announced. Not a room-filler - more a private thing. L’Île Pourpre hums low, resinous, a murmur of herbs, less a lush island of fig trees than an impossibly leafy thicket tangled in spice and wood. The fig is still there—ripe, dark, somewhere between fruit and skin—but it’s wrapped in the dry, almost medicinal bite of angelica, its green bitterness curling around the edges like smoke. I detect the fenugreek as an undercurrent running through the plant notes, nutty, savory, and somewhat umami, adding this peculiar yet intriguing depth that keeps the scent from coming off as too dull. Then you notice the cedar, steady and linear, not raw or splintered and rather smooth yet not cold. Polished earthy wood warmed by salty skin. It grounds everything, keeping the spices in check, letting the fig breathe but never letting it take over. The interplay is curious—dusty, natural, a little smoky, but still stained with the deep purple, indirect sweetness of bruised fruit. More a place than a scent, this fragrance is one standing at the edge of something both abstractly rich and realistically restrained. Unusual, a little austere, but undeniably hypnotic.

Got about a 75% full tester bottle at a Barney's liquidation for $30. It's fruity, light, delicate, and feminine. It reminds me of berries and other red/purple fruits (if I had to come up with a smell descriptor). Not super sweet, though. I don't pick up tons of ginger but it's there in the background. It's SUPER well-blended and hard to pick out notes, for me. So, is it good? Well, I'd say it's different/unique and smells interesting. I can't pull it off, as a 30-something guy, but my wife smells good with it, especially in high heat. It's a good, warm weather, daytime scent for women. Longevity and projection are terrible. 1-2 hours on me (dry skin) and 2-3 on her. It's really a quick hit scent that smells nice for a summer brunch/lunch or something. A 7.0/10 for me. A nice scent, unique, but the cost/longevity is a joke. Happy at $30 but at even discounters I'd say no way.

Now hold it right there and look over here: this is a gothic femme fatale . She reveals herself right from the start. A smoky ginger, fresh, dark, and sharp, but not harsh. Strangely, it’s quite a green scent, but this greenness doesn’t feel of this world. It’s like the purple-leafed plants of some hostile alien planet. Sooooo beautiful, I fell in love with this fragrance. It’s both sophisticated and balanced. Suitable for all seasons. Not sweet. It’s soft and strong at the same time, angel and devil all in one. 𓆩ꨄ︎𓆪𓆩ꨄ︎𓆪𓆩ꨄ︎𓆪 Toward the end, it gets even darker, and its woody aspects come forward. It gets a perfect score from me on all fronts. The sample was gifted to me, but this one’s going straight to a full bottle.

I was testing / browsing a long while back. I told the gentleman at the counter what notes I liked. I mentioned fig. It's like he read my mind. Literally the first fragrance he pulled out was this. My brows went up and I remember telling him it was so different, dark even. I stopped my search that day, at this first choice. It is perfectly blended. Nothing is overpowering anything else. The ginger is subtle, only enhancing. The fig is cold, almost metallic and juicy. There is also a very soft, earthy, woodiness. The fragrance as a whole is an ethereal and purple scent, like a Venusian elixir.

I love this one, my favourite from their house and full bottle worthy, although not in the top notes I get hit with patchouli in the first instance, only for a minute or two then bang the most unusual, beautiful aroma develops! The fig is not overbearing, I get a tea note, slight ginger and a sourness that's really enjoyable. The ambroxan and cedar are there but I what I love about this scent is that there isn't one dominant note, you get a little of everything in the above pyramid, marvellous! EDIT: This is a quite a linear scent and longevity is moderate on me

Delicate fruity perfume that is basically a skin scent 5 minutes after applying. It's blended very good and I really can't distinguish notes in particular other than it being fruity. The cool thing is that the fruits are not overly sweet so it's not your typical screechy fruity floral, everything is velvety smooth and transparent (maybe too transparent). I'm reminded of the dry down of Plum Japonaise, an EDC concentration of it. Sadly, after a few hours, what I only get are whispers of ambroxan. 7/10

The opening is a bit medicinal, but dries down to a sweet, spicy herbaceous spa like scent. Calm & soothing. I actually get the shisho note! And I am finding out now that I really like Angelica. It is really beautiful! First LI fragrance I actually love and would consider a bottle. I have something similar in vibe which is Bleu Lazuli, but that one leans quite masculine. Might trade that one for this. Very light wearing though.

Musky? No. Powdery, maybe, but definitely spicy. One of the scents I renew from time to time for my husband. Such good sun warmed old wood and dry bitter herbs. The ginger merges with Angelica, give it spice and pepper

I like this but can hardly smell it😢 they weren’t kidding when they say it’s a skin scent. Glad I only got a 10ml decant. Nice unique smell just wish it was a bit stronger and lasted a bit longer.

Its obvious this is a luxe , expensive scent. Its fig is a beautiful fruity nuance, a love a first sniff. Nothing sharp or out of place, well blended. Just exquisite.

this smells like a fairy flew by me and sprinkled some dust on her way, a divine smell, but it doesnt last at all, thats a shame

It's like cough syrup to me, but very light, summery, and pleasant. And not to sweet! Absolutely recommend
