Lunatique

Any time I see a fragrance waiting to be demolished by the community, I become intrigued rather than forewarned. Sorry to say, I don't trust you guys! Don't take it personally. I'm starting to catch on. A brand new fragrance and it has been hit over the head with multiple one star reviews?! Come on now. This has been happening more frequently and I am here to tell you it does the opposite of what you want. Today I have tried Lunatique expecting it to be horrendous, and it is actually quite good! I was expecting that! What I was also expecting was the dusty, night sky space exploration feeling. I certainly got that and more! In my opinion, you can't go wrong when you are exploring this theme. It's my favorite. My number one creative style. I think space and anything related to space within the fragrance world is as cool as it gets. This fragrance in particular has a little bit more going on than others with the same general idea. For example Lunar Dust. Another fragrance I love. That one focuses on the dust particles and makes you feel like you are truly on the moon. Not much else is going on. This one on the other hand feels like a dichotomy. Two personalities going back and forth in an unending loop. Perhaps a daytime and a nighttime. Reflective. Leather plays a big part in this composition as well. It is one is my least favorites in fragrance, but I don't mind it here because I understand the push and pull concept they are going for and it sits warmly on my skin. The Juniper as well as other aromatic elements in this composition really tie everything together. I think it's a job well done and for sure will not be appreciated by the typical buyer. Anyone who purchases fragrances from Victoria's Secret, Bath and Body works etc. will think this is terrible. Which is fine. This isn't supposed to be for everybody. This fragrance is made for a real connoisseur who appreciates sitting by themselves and enjoying the fragrance they have on simply to enjoy it. It is complex purposely. The more I talk about it the more beautiful it becomes. I highly recommend if you are one of those people.

This is unlike anything I have ever encountered. The opening feels meticulously crafted, combining ozonic, woody, and metallic facets in a way that immediately grabs attention. As it moves into the heart, a gentle sweetness and a touch of powder emerge, adding dimension and intrigue. The dry-down is where it truly comes alive: musky, sensual, and carrying a faint animalic edge that gives it undeniable character. It is a unique experience with an opening that feels both daring and original. With a collection of more than 300 perfumes, I can say with confidence that this one stands apart. In terms of originality, it deserves a 9/10. For the “wow factor,” I would give it a 6.5. It is impressive, though it doesn’t completely captivate me. Performance, however, is exceptional and earns a full 10/10. This is my first and only perfume from the brand. While I admire its distinctiveness, I do not feel the urge to explore their earlier creations.

I enjoy wearing Lunatique when I want to be sure that I don’t smell like anyone else around, or even anyone else I’ve ever known. It gives me the same feeling I got when I tested Ganymede. My first thought of Lunatique was a big YUCK, but I went back to it over and over. It lands super leathery on my skin, but it’s a bit of a ride to get there. To my untrained nose, it’s complex and mysterious, like a combination of greenness and darkness. Definitely not a blind buy, even though the bottle is gorgeous. All of that said, it’s one of my favorites overall and my absolute favorite from the line.

This one is really unique. I think it must be pretty skin dependant because on me it came off sweeter and very accessible. Yes there is some leather there for sure and some darker elements, but overall it smells really nice and inviting. Warm even. Smells like a cool bastard with a cupcake in his pocket. Definitely mysterious as well. My wife and her best friend absolutely loved it and said it's their favorite of all the ones I've tried which has been quite a few. That's a fat green flag in my book.

Imagine a wiff of a night wind in a castle, candles everywhere and your friendly, rich vampire in his velvet attire, holding a glass of rum. It gives cold, aromatic, earthy, mossy. A beautiful scent which is not for me but I absolutely appreciate how well blended it is. A more masculine scent for sure!

I love this erfume, maybe the notes here are a bit confusing, u really detect a sharp metalic and spice scent at the begginign with a little bit of fruity notes, yes i think its a very good fragrance

The scent is true to its name. It's very cold and fresh, like a moonlit forest at night. It's Lucy wandering the graveyard in a white dress.

🌑 Cold Passenger 🌑 I pull over in the middle of an empty road, and the passenger door opens. A guy in a heavy leather jacket gets in. Not a single word is spoken. The cabin is instantly filled with the scent of metal and juniper: sharp, sterile, cutting through the air like a steel blade. Beneath this cold layer, there is something earthy. It is iris and carrot, smelling like damp soil beneath a cemetery wall. The leather here isn't luxurious; it is technical, reminiscent of cold grease or a new tire in an empty garage. It is sterile and alien. The fragrance does not try to adapt to the body's warmth; it simply imposes its own steely rhythm. We drive forward, and the icy silence thickens with every kilometer. A metallic, juicy pear wrapped in warm rosin. It's definitely an interesting composition, but not something I'd personally wear (this one is a bit too masculine for me, as I generally prefer feminine fragrances). I blind-bought four samples from Liquides Imaginaires - Fortis, Fleur de Sable, Fleuve Tendre, and Lunatique - and this one turned out to be my favorite by far. The other three were complete misses for me. They became so overwhelming that I ended up scrubbing them off.

This is a combination of church smell (that frankincense is predominant) and freshly polished boots. That makes it an extremely masculine scent, but I don't know if I would wear this as a fragrance, especially given its price point. I'd pay maybe 100$ for 100ml. At the same time, if you don't have any dark fragrance in your collection and you need one for special occasions, this could be a good fit. Only if it's your only dark fragrance and so it justifies the price tag.

Lunatique smells nearly identically to Ajmal Rhythm of Oud (strangely, the notes are completely different), both having bright, effervescent, almost metallic notes and sandalwood. And since Rhythm *preceded* Lunatique by two years, unfortunately, @heavenlydescent, Lunatique is not original. To boot, Rhythm of Oud is less than half the price of Lunatique even at discount-site prices.

As a huge fan of the house, I really held back and I wanted to give it some space and wear it a few times before I passed judgement but I just can't tolerate it. I also agree with Maschka's review below, unfortunately. There is something in here that I can't handle. It burns my nose and obliterates my senses. I'm flabbergasted and kind of really disappointed, since the description of Lunatique had me incredibly hyped. I'm going to take a guess and blame vetiver and/or Sichuan pepper here, and something quite earthy and/or powdery that I can't put my finger on (carrot and sandalwood?). The opening is especially harsh and I do think there's some sort of aromachemical here that blasts my senses. As it evolves on my skin, it does turn more sandalwood-forward and slightly more tolerable, it reminds me of a more aromatic version of something like Marc-Antoine Barrois's Encelade (which I honestly can't stand). I think I understand what they were going for here but sadly, it just falls way out of my comfort zone and I can't see myself wearing this at all. I'm curious to see what the general consensus will be, maybe others will appreciate and fall in love with it? I do hope so but personally, so far both of the Alchemy releases (Liquide and Lunatique) are unfathomable to me.

Also a huge fan of the brand but just like with some reviewers below, this one is not not my jam. At the opening there's something extremely unpleasant and dirty, and I realise now that one other perfume gave me the same vibe - Nudiflorum by Nasomatto. I think it's the oud note combined with smth else, but basically it gives me some mix of gasoline (the kind used on motoboats) with...poop. Sorry I am really not here to yuck someone's yum but have to warn that it has dangerous notes for some noses. To be fair, Nudiflorum was this times 100 A few minutes later the woody cold aromatics come through, very cold, almost metallic, but rather beautiful, and the name is apt. But I cannot get over these first few mins...

Higher sillage that quickly diminishes (5h to almost nothing, but weather was hot). Opens with hazelnuts heavily chemically tinted with an artificial combination of pencil shavings and waiting room at the dentists. Strongly recollects moments when sitting on a dentist's chair and curing your fresh filling, an unpleasant aftertaste of disinfectant residue in a plastic cup. Not nice. Drydown improves a bit and smooths out the unpleasant chemical medical edges, but the powdery waxy vanilla finish is not worth the wait.

Never smelt anything so horrendous. Totally agree Maschka's comment below.

Adore LI so when Les Senteurs in London started selling samples I bought a sample within a minute of getting the email!! This is exactly what I was expecting. The opposite of the perfume Liquide, Liquide is very sunny and strong and great during the day. Lunatique is the night. It’s mysterious, darker. I guess some will say this is more masculine leaning. But I will still be wearing this as these kind of scents work best on me. I can imagine in the winter wearing a thick coat this will be perfect to wear. I keep thinking that the colour of the bottle is perfect as there is something cold and metallic about it but with a hint of that warm pepper in the background trying to break through. I need more time to work out if it’s full bottle worthy. But if you love that LI style of perfumery then it’s worth a sample.

It's harsh, its alienating, it's cold. The scent opens up metallic and leathery. It smells unrelatable, beyond my olfactive vocabulary. It's pleasant and sightly repulsive at the same. It contains some pretty rough chemicals, like for example isobutyl quinoline (smelling which made me pretty sick one day), but they are masterfully blended into something cosmic. I don't see myself pulling it off, unless I'm in a kind of intellectual villain state. colour: #566073 texture: cold and static outer space

Cool, velvety nighttime woods with a (I was trying not to be influenced by the bottle) seamlessly integrated metallic quality. Starts deep and vigorous with the piney juniper and a very subtle peppery veil. Goes spicy-herbal but in a way where no notes are distinct. This fragrance maintains a notable seamlessness and elegance throughout. Nothing juts out, the overall feel is smooth and luxurious. The dry down is warm, resinous and soft to the touch while maintaining a gentle backbone of spice.
