Melancolia Eau de Parfum

LLI pumping out the hits! Blind buy full bottle on the note table presentation. Genuinely feeling melancholic at the time I always find Herbacious, Aromatic and citrus scents to cheer me up ala YSL Live Jazz, Fazzolari Five Eau, Christopher Street by Charneton Macerations et al... Nailed it!!!! Arrived today from Germany all the way to Oz! Bright fresh citric green counter balanced by the cardamom and musk on top of not over powering suede (for a nice quirk). Man! What a welcome left hook! Love it!

When a fragrance is called 'Melancolia' you will probably expect something dark, bitter and humourless, but 'Melancolia' is the opposite. It ́s bright, fresh, wonderful spicy and aromatic, airy and good-humoured. The perfect antidote against melancholia!

The opening is quite like cocacola. Then it develops to be more green and spicy. The longevity is only about 2 hours, though.

I tried this on a rainy day when I was genuinely feeling melancholic, and without reading anything about the fragrance beforehand. It was absolutely not what I'd expected from the name alone. Melan-Colia opens with aromatic fresh spices. Lemongrass, ginger and juniper are noticed. I was expecting a pine note to sneak through but it remains primarily lemon and spice. The dry down is where it comes together with a fuzzy musk and soft wood underneath. This scent feels like when you put on a happy face for the outside world but have that fuzzy murkiness going on underneath. An interesting take on melancholia. I would actually recommend trying Melan-Colia when you're feeling down. It's like a sadness stabiliser - it has the bright notes encouraging you to get off your butt and go about your day, but acknowledges that there's more going on under the surface. Decent journey, recommend a test for olfactory's sake but do not blind buy.

So, this perfume has the notes I normally dislike, specifically, ginger, cardamom, and mint. However, as I keep saying, Liquides Imaginaires never miss, and even this perfume smells pleasant on my skin: almost photorealistic ginger but very smooth, a hint of cardamom, and lemongrass that keeps coming and going. The whole scent is not my vibe at all, I admit, but it I will enjoy the small decant I have.

Baudelairean garden, not one of dark, agitated melancholia, but rather contemplative, almost content. I immediately envisioned a muddy English rose garden, with no roses in bloom, set on a rain-soaked, somber evening. Someone stands still, yet somehow enjoys it. I've only tried it once, strange place. Green and wet. To revisit.

I usually like herbs very much, but haven't enjoyed the ones in this.

its really harsh not that fresh. If you want to use in summer, you gotta go insane for sure. Very thick lemongrass scent, heavy and not pleasant

Smells like a warm acidic cleaning product. Who would want to smell like this???

As another reviewer wrote, it smells like a citrusy toilet spray, but I’d say it’s even worse than that because it’s very strong and it doesn’t fade for a long time. I really can’t stand the smell.

This name gives you a picture and it's very VERY close to skin. You may get into a REAL sense of melancholy why, for a perfume, Melancolia is so effortless and pale. Opening with safe green, doubtfully tracing a hint of sweetness behind or it's nowhere, the air between the distance of your nose and skin is soft woody like of some familiar furnitures, yes, the sillage says "intimate" it's only a skin scent for personal pleasure when you stay in the transparent world of your own, or welcoming someone who may into this called eternal comfort zone. Have this sample for nearly two years now in a time of post-Covid FINALLY I had a try and wrote down a review. Blind purchase and justified expectations. Firstly, I already have and love some scents by Amelie Bourgeois. Secondly, the notes are my favorite and well combined. I like the juicy minty-green start, a little pharmacy-like sensation, then the sweetness of the candies due to lemongrass, cardamon, ginger. The concept of the brand is sustained, the fine work of the perfumer.

This is a weird and interesting one. I’ve never tried such a green, minty, and gingerly scent. It’s so green and that ginger note is strong but not “choke-you-out” strong. I would even say it’s a ginger forward fragrance that I can’t stop smelling. So different and refreshing. Not full bottle worthy for me, but I wouldn’t mind a 10ml decant that’s always in my collection.

I got a 2ml sample and I must say this is powdery citric and fresh juice. It has something new for me. Maybe these are bay leaves or lemongrass and mint. My wife after one small spray asked me what is it. I think this is more female fragrance. It is worth a try. On my skin is smells fancy!

Candy necklaces ! Just as I remember them from childhood. And it fits so well with the beautiful song by Lana del Rey and Jon batiste. Selling a full bottle - message if interested

I don't know why, but it smells like a oil paint for wall painting. somewhat salicylate-like smell is strong.

This is really bad, reminiscent of a toilet bleach. One dimensional harsh citrus.
