Ballerina No 5

Reminds me very much of my beloved Roses Berberanza, especially in the dry-down, which was sadly discontinued. A sweet and lovely, jammy rose. I prefer Roses Berberanza but if I one day finish that one I think Ballerina No. 5 could fill its place, though the opening is different.

The morning after effect is wonderful! You sleep in it and you wake up with this amazing cashmere-like floral jammy cloud surrounding you. It pairs well with other perfumes that you feel lacking a little sweetness. It softens the day.

I recently reviewed and loved "Rose de Rosine", and I was eager to discover more from this house, so I was really happy to find a sample of "Ballerina no 5" in my sample stash. And at first sniff, it was all I hoped for: the very opening is just a blissful, enveloping cloud of that same wonderful clean, sweet powdery base I loved so much in in "Rose de Rosine" - so, so good, it literally makes my heart beat a little faster with joy. Unfortunately, I have to agree with Donkar below me: the rest of the development rather disappoints that extraordinary opening, at least to my nose/personal taste. In "Rose de Rosine", that powdery base perfectly complemented the jammy rose at the heart of the fragrance, and I was hoping the same would be true for this one, whose list of notes really looks dreamy on paper. I was really expecting something like imsony888's experience of a floral jammy lingering scent of cashmere-like softness, but instead I get...almost nothing... after the first 10 minutes or so. And what I do smell just seems slightly off. Just a little synthetic in an unpleasant way, which in my opinion really doesn't go well with the powdery aspect. Too bad, but high expectations are bound to be disappointed sometimes, and there's so much potential here that it only wants to make me explore Rosine's house more!

Not bad but very unoriginal for a niche brand. Ballerina N°5 is a fruity mix of cherry, red berries, rose, with a bit of vanilla and creamy woods. It could be something created for Nina Ricci or another flanker of La petite robe noire. Les Parfums de Rosine have nice creations in their collection but this one is not worth paying 140 euros.

Gorgeous in the first 5 seconds, then settles down to something funky and sour, as if it wasn't blended right. eeh. Pass

-Let me preface this by saying I don't usually enjoy rose scents. -Rose scents have a tendency to veer into 'scented hand wash' territory. -In spite of this, Ballerina No.5 comes across as an elegant fragrance. -Perhaps not one-of-a-kind, but still really pleasant in my books. -There's something unique about this scent- perhaps the combination of rose and fig makes it such a standout to me. -Lovely. 5/5 would recommend. *Update* -Not a fan of the dry down. Smells like cheap rose-scented talcum powder. -Thanks, but, no thanks. -Would recommend checking out "Belle de Jour" by Maison Dior for a more refined, bubbly alternative. And maybe, "La Colle Noire" for a grown-up version of "Belle de Jour". (-)

I love Ballerina 1 and thought I'd love this, all the ingredients sound great, I can never have enough fig, and everything that everyone has said about it that's good is true, there is a lovely jammy deliciousness up front. However right from the get go I also get a smell that's kind of like actual toilets and I'm not the only one. "It's like very posh toilets, like in a restaurant," says my kid, but I'm not sure that's right because very posh toilets smell like bamboo and stuff like that. This is just toilets.

Love the opening, and most of the notes here - there are several styles trying to gel at once. Tart and fruity, powdery, fresh fig, and citrus and almond....what you get is a powdery fruit compote with marzipan feel. The citrus fruit / fig and powdery elements are at war for my nose's focus but ultimately as always the fruits disappear and the powdery almond is what is left. I hate to be the one to say this but IMO this is not good at all. I blind bought because I have been collecting the ballerina series and it wasn't expensive. Sadly, this one is the least interesting of the five (i.e., completely lacking in personality). It's just a sweet mess with no discernible notes.. The perfume starts and ends that way.. Not unpleasant, just poorly blended.

Devastatingly beautiful sweet powdered rose petals and something syrup like... it’s super femme and glorious. A real princess perfume. Love x
