Eloge du Vert

This is my discovery at the end of a terrible 2020. A monstrous, hopeless and sad year. A year where people died, animals were abandoned, and the Earth was no better. A year of selfishness, sadness and terror. Fortunately, the year is ending and, fortunately, there are artists who can give a moment of oblivion. The creation is perfect, poetic, full of hope and happiness. The face laughs on its own when we smell this miracle. The notes are hard to tell apart, but one thing is certain, the smell is extremely green and fresh. With a delicate sweet lint. Like crumpled coumarin field plants with freshly chopped green fruit, but not sour at all. Such super hyper exhilarating. But there is something else here, something woody, cool but very quickly transformed into warmth - it has to be high-quality patchouli. Probably with pepper, but not irritating. Rather slightly dusty and in a retro style. And then there is space for the rose. Completely non-obvious but lasting throughout the entire fragrance. But there is a difference that you need to know to recognize it. Because otherwise we keep thinking what kind of flower it is, which smells so beautiful. I recommend everyone this wonderful rose of hope to make 2021 as happy as this fragrance is happy. You know how it is, sometimes it's hard for people to find a gift. And when we get a surprise we often make a good face for the bad game. Therefore, I prefer to say what I would like, but preferably something that I dreamed of and which I do not fully know. This is the case with fragrances. I read dreams and I want to. And sometimes, when I get it on Christmas day. And so it was with this gem of lust.

I’m in Heaven! Firstly the bottle is the most perfect shade of glossy jade and you get 100ml for an EDP. The first spray is indeed herbaceously green (as the name suggests) and it immediately reminds me of Boadicea The Victorious’s ‘Vetiver Imperiale’ with its fresh, woody, aromatic and uplifting (almost lemongrass-like) feel. But where ‘Vetiver Imperiale’ becomes smoky after the fresh green opening, Eloge De Vert keeps the green but doesn’t turn mean. This aromatic, spicy greenness is later joined by a beautifully smooth rose note and suddenly it reminds me of Thameen’s ‘Noorolain Taif’ (a scent I loved but had issues with its short longevity). This has shot straight to my favourites list. It’s perky from the fresh ginger note, but also dusty-green from its almost fougere-like powdery calmness. The tiny addition of the soft, velvety rose just kisses perfection into this fragrance. The dry-down becomes a musky rose once it loses its zest and it lasts on skin for at least 12 hours. It’s smooth, aromatic, balanced and zen-like with a perky lemongrass-style rose has won my heart.

Eloge du Vert starts off with a very velvety rose and a big punch of green pepper on the side. It seems like an odd combo, but it was love at first sniff for me. As it dries, I definitely get the black pepper, ginger, and patchouli as well. It feels dense, but the green pepper also gives it a hyper-freshness. The rose note is gorgeous, soft and luxe...like a silky, cool powder coming into contact with your skin. Smelling this transports me to a rose garden on a brisk, cloudy day. This is unusual, but very wearable, especially if you like rose and/or green fragrances. This is the best of both those worlds combined. This is a new favorite for sure. I love this stuff.

I made an account to review this scent. A dear friend got it for me while working abroad in Paris. I find it hard to locate scents I like-- the US is an endless ocean of fruity florals that smell like high school to me. The green pepper/peppercorn really blooms at application, in a very pleasantly dusty way. It wears down to a decidedly green odor, but not sweet in any way. I feel that this is a pretty unique parfum. I ALMOST see similarities to Cacharel's Eden, but it lacks the powdery element that Eden has and is overall a much smoother scent. In short, I love this parfum.

Just beautiful! Very green, peppery, rose. Balanced, elegant, luxurious, invigorating, contained French. Unique but also classical in a sense. It starts green and peppery, goes over rich transformation, and then ends on a woody, peppery, rose accentuated note. Great daytime fragrance, for winter, fall, spring. Long lasting, with excellent projection and silage. High quality components, lux.

Green bell-pepper bomb mixed with spicy fresh ginger. Imagine green pepper and ginger salad :) A scent for a rebel. A purist. Someone merciless and original. It starts harsh and shocking rather than pleasant and inviting to wear. The scent softens with time. Black pepper warms it, together with cedar wood. Maybe a strangled rose is hiding somewhere and softens it a bit. I like this scent, especially when it evolves. It's complicated and changes a lot during wear. A scent for a killer, but a very charming one and I would like to think - intelligent too. In correct hands it turns exciting. It rattled my nerves so hard that I still think about it :)

The rose, unfortunately, fades away completely, although it is very present when I smell the perfume cap/sprayer. What is left is quite a masculine base of black pepper, ginger, cedar, and patchouli. A spicy aromatic fragrance, perfect for a gloomy day, but leans too manly for me.

I perceive this as dried herbs, seasoned with a background of incense. The background doesn’t repel because it’s harnessed to the greenery, additionally twisted by a bit of air. I imagine for some, this might be a great scent — very homely, based on a certain specific, naturally occurring combination that is characteristic. The dryness is somewhat like French Lover, but more open and also more watery. But I haven’t tested it on skin.

I own 3 others from this house, and I also happen to LOVE capsicum (green pepper) notes. However this is just a little TOO heavy on the spice. I know this house is known for the creative ways rose is used in their compositions, but I detect no rose in this one. Also, my beloved capsicum had been dunked into black pepper. A little disappointed on this one.

All I am getting is peppery ginger rose on a patchouli cushion. The green pepper is adding some verdure to the composition but I can’t identify the note separately. I was hoping to find a beautiful spicy rose with an interesting green pepper accents but have received a dull, monotone, mainstream scent with somewhat niche ring/ ingredients quality. As other Les Parfums I came across du Vert projects well and lives around 8h on my skin.

Blind bought this because I love green perfumes and I love rose. Less so together, it seems. It quickly shifts from that green bell pepper top note to a spicy and slightly juicy rose. The ginger adds a bit of zing. Weirdly, when it calms down a bit, and the long dry down kicks in, it begins to remind me of Toy Boy by Moschino. In my opinion Toy Boy is a better perfume. I can't see me reaching for this very often.
