Rosa Flamenca

Rosa Flemenca is interesting! I love it, and it's one of my favourite Les Parfums de Rosine perfumes, and of all my perfumes. I love this House, and all the perfumes of hers I have tried so far. The bottles are so gorgeous, with their lovely tassels and frills,and the pretty colours; and the packaging. Everything is so feminine, beautiful and charming. And Rosa Flemenca is really beautiful. Crisp and citrusy at first, then becomes a lovely sweet oily rose with gorgeous orange flower, neroli and honeysuckle brightening it up and giving it more of a tangy, honeyed sweetness. It's a beautiful mixture. And the dry-down is smooth, woody, sweet and fragrant. It's a lovely sweet, slightly spicy, fragrant and charming perfume, with a good solid base, that makes it last and last. I get compliments all the time, and my husband especially loves it. And so do I love it. It's terrific.

This is my favorate Rosine and I just found out, today, that it's discontinued, so I got the 3.4 oz size at Lucious Cargo, which seems to be the only place selling this size. Several other places, including Beauty Habit sell the 1.7 oz size at the moment. Anyway, it's a strong, musty rose that's strong and a compliment getter. Very unique.

Rosa Flamenca might be my favorate Rosine. Gets compliments. It's an intense, spicy, slightly musky rose.

I purchased this fragrance from Barneys NY and I really like wearing this scent. I admire the Les Parfums de Rosine line as they take a variety of rose scents and combine it with notes that take you on a wonderful journey on how rose can be combined to come up with amazing fragrances. I do not think Barneys is selling this scent anymore as I think it is becoming discontinued (?). I had purchased the last bottle and they were not sure when they were going to replenish it. I would not consider this a summer scent. For me, it is more of a winter/spring scent. The initial notes that I experience are sandalwood, rose and something else.....I cannot detect what it is, but I have read on other blogs that there is terpentine in this scent. Maybe that is what I detect? I did not notice the linden blossom, as I love this flower, but the above notes are what is prevalent with a musk/fig leaf (green) dry down. The combination of notes converts the rose scent into something like a green citrus floral, if that makes sense. I really enjoy it. I would not wear it in the summer due to the sandalwood/powdery notes. It is not overtly powdery, but you do notice it.

It's pretty hard for me to find much to fault in most of the Parfums de Rosine rose perfumes, and ROSA FLAMENCA is no exception to the rule. This creation has the somewhat home-grown feeling which I have come to associate with the perfumes of this house, while still smelling very natural and appealing. I never find the Rosine creations to be slick and polished perfumes, but I nearly always find them likeable precisely because they are so straightforward and down to earth. This is a feeling which I tend to have about the perfumes of Annick Goutal as well, but I find that in the case of Les Parfums de Rosine, the perfumes are just a notch less sophisticated and more rough-hewn. Still, they are good, and ROSA FLAMENCA offers roses ensconced among several other flowers, grass blades and some wood, although I would not have identified the latter as having derived from a fig tree. I also do not find orange blossom to be dominant, as others have reported. To me, ROSA FLAMENCA is more like a bouquet of wildflowers into which a few long-stemmed red roses have been inserted. The rose scent is stronger than that of any of the multi-colored flowers which surround it, but they are important as the chorus to the rose diva. I was expecting something spicy--red and flaming--but instead I have found in ROSA FLAMENCA a rather pastoral scene. I actually thought that there was a touch of oakmoss in this composition, but it is not listed among the notes. There is a slight dirtiness here, but it is very light, rather like the soil still clinging to the roots of a bunch of wildflowers plucked to form a makeshift bouquet. At the same time, I also find a touch of good old-fashioned soap in the drydown.

Roses and orange blossom. 7/10 on my Rosines score card. A well made fragrance, but orange blossom is not my favourite note in perfume. Very pleasant to wear nevertheless. One for people who like a distinctive, yet not overpowering summery floral fragrance.

Fresh watery rose. Certain notes in the first 15 minutes smell like the bottom of a lotus pond, too damp and muddy to my taste. The dry down is better. Overall: Not my favorite Rosine.
