Roseberry

Roseberry was my go to fragrance at least between 1989 - 1997, and maybe earlier. Fragrantica's history of this fragrance house's modern era is missing, but the first fragrance Rosine brought out was Rose de Rosine and I think I discovered it around 1985. It's a gorgeous chypre, but very adult and not dripping roses as much as I liked. (In that era, they even made Rose de Rosine soap.) I can't remember when, but I'm sure Roseberry was their next scent, and I immediately latched on. I think I had to order it from Les Senteurs in London, which merrily sent me their catalog and I was off to the races. (I saved some of these catalogues, so maybe I can come up with more exact dates from this source.) I know I wore Roseberry nearly once a week between about 1989 - 1997. Then I went way off it. Fragrantica's history of these fragrances says Rose Ete came out in 1998, but I'd say they it came out earlier, maybe 1995. I have that one too. They made some not entirely rose scents in that era too. Mea Culpa, for instance. Great scent. Then around maybe 1998 they announced they were discontinuing all their non-rose scents and would only make rose scents from now on. (I see they're now, in 2019, creeping back from that precipice and making non-rose scents again; I can't remember the names of them off hand.) Anyway, Roseberry is a lush green rose that starts out with lots of blackberry and spritzy effervescent qualities and develops into a thick rosey fragrance. I'd say at least some of those "green notes" are lily of the valley. I see Fragrantica lists red wine as a note. I don't smell that at all, and Rosine never suggested it in anything written in the 1990's. It lasts at least 7 hours on my skin. The bottle I have is from about 2002 or maybe a later. I remember when I bought it that it seemed slightly richer than the previous bottle I had. I do know they made the color darker green than my earlier bottle. I don't think this almost gaudy green helps its presentation. I can't speak for what they're selling now. I don't know whether they've reformulated it to pass French regulations, but the earlier stuff is just fabulous.

OMG, yes. It does not smell of berries. It's summer and cleavage and short skirts and gossamer tops, white shell jewelry on tanned skin. Not a lick of coconut or sunscreen, just juicy, succulent, ripe and engorged. Too many to eat. Roseberry is the scent of abundance and coming into your own without apology. With the longing of summer days that transition into cocktails and naughty sex with a good girl. Unforgettable. I will always own a bottle. Rose and cassis. It smells like kissing and flirting, like the most desirable woman in the room.

First burst: raspy leaves, summer grass, already a hint of soap. The creamy lipstick-like berry sweetness starts to come through and softens the scent. The fuzz of raspberry leaves persists throughout, adding a jarring edge with the green freshness. The harshness breaks the creamy monotony and adds dimension to the scent. It does create the image of wild roses and berry bushes in the summer fields. The perfume persists throughout the day, turning soapier and colder as the image of roses warmed by the sun recedes.

Lovely long lasting perfume with my favorite kind of roses and I agree with Malegria it's a kind of soft sorbet at the beginning. My mother also liked it very much. An elegant scent.

This is a longlasting elegant scent. IMO it is not a floral-fruity but a floral green.

A very soapy berry, that’s what Roseberry smells like: soap The effervescent cassis note is much more pronounced on my skin, I detect no rose. Instead I do pick up a floral note, but I can’t place it. For me it’s a generic berry floral that smells like the aldehydes are up past the comfort level. And talk about performance, if Roseberry is your jam it’s going to make you happy. Me—not so much. I’m beginning to think Les Parfums de Rosine produces nice scents that comfortably stride into the mainstream. I can’t point my finger and say there’s a note or two off, or that it’s evocative, or makes me reflective. Les Parfums de Rosine offerings are easy to wear, pretty scents. Nothing wrong with that, but I haven’t found a Rosine scent that’s held my interest.

I blind bought Rose des Neige on a whim and a hunch. It paid off and I am very happy. I was given a sample kit w/ 6 perfumes from Parfums de Rosine. Some are winners and some are losers. Roseberry is in the loser column. And it is a shame because in Roseberry I smell what could have been a really good perfume. A good perfume if they left out the aldehyde and the watery notes. Aldehyde does not belong here. There are so many outdoors on a picnic notes in this perfume, the wine, berries, roses, rose hips, green notes, and chamomile that could have created a great day date fragrance. Especially a picnic or a trip to a winery or a walk in a park etc... Instead, the aldehyde is much too bright, and the watery notes smell artificially aquatic giving this perfume a very laundry detergent like quality that just ruins the whole composition. What a shame. Leave out those 2 ingredients and Parfums de Rosine would have had a real winner here, instead of a disappointing mess.

this has a very harsh artificial note that makes it irritating to sniff directly. The wafting scent is more tolerable, but I think this fragrance would wear out it welcome sooner than later due to the chemical composition.

Clean, clean rose. Not overly aldehydic — the aldehydes and cassis are faint, and it becomes just barely tart in the middle. Far too soapy and reserved for me, this is the opposite of what I'd want from a fruity rose.

This perfume has been created by Pierre Bourdon which for me was sufficient information to bite the bullet and purchase a full bottle prior to testing. I have now spent a couple of days with it. IMO all the previous reviews are all either misleading or plain incorrect. Also, this perfume has no resemblance whatsoever to any of those listed here as supposingly being similar to it. It is truly one-of-a-kind which is in itself, a testament to the genius of its creator. There is a clear and very specific idea behind its construction that invites the wearer on a veritable olfactory journey. Wearing it is not about smelling 'nice', but about being enveloped in an emotional cocoon that would carry you throughout your day no matter what. That is why I find it impossible to pin-point what type of season, time of day, event or person could or should be wearing it. There is no gender or face on it either. There is a minuscule dose of aldehydes at the beginning, but nothing that would bring to mind the Chanels or EL White Linen. Cassis, blackcurrant, raspberry leaf and chamomile are predominant throughout the development, while the rose is subtly wafting in and out, never being completely absent. Mind you, this is not any kind of a rose you would pick out form a garden or your local florist. It is an abstract rose, but rose nevertheless. It could be a perfume for a rose lover, but anyone else could wear it as well. I bet if this perfume would be sold at your typical department store, even those who proclaim a dislike towards the scent of rose, would go for it without even knowing what it is about. Definitely a full bottle worthy. Very unique, very chic. Meditative and futuristic. Masterfully created.

The aesthetic of Les Parfums de Rosine is beginning to take shape before my eyes as today I have donned ROSEBERRY. Another very fine rose composition this is indeed! I was expecting ROSEBERRY to be a fruity-floral but find instead that it has an ever-so-slightly soapy side, along with some of the same powdery quality that I found in ROSE D'ETE. Which do I like better of the two offerings from this house that I've now tried? Hard to say: they're both quite nice rose creations. So far I'm likin' what I'm sniffin' chez Rosine! I should observe here that, based on the wide disparities in reviewers' reactions to the perfumes of this house, I am beginning to suspect that they may have batch issues... Or perhaps there are quality-control issues with the sample vials?

Let's state the obvious: Cool looking liquid. Well, what do you know? It's as feminine as I hoped it not to be. Given the name Roseberry, I should've known but that's totally my fault. I might as well review this thing right? Umm..I dabbed a small amount on both wrist and the soapy lemony stuff was everywhere. Roseberry's lemon accord combined with other notes gives it a lily of the valley type vibe. On my skin, no rose whatsoever..none. Im a male, different body chemistry I guess, so don't stone me. This is predominantly a green fragrance that begins loud but runs quickly out of gas clockin in at a dismal 2hrs and 30min. With bad longevity, is Roseberry still serviceable? Ehh...maybe for quick meaningful outings...not for an all day event.

I am a confirmed rose lover so Rosine is a natural choice for me. Roseberry is extremely fresh and the cassis, for me, is the selling point. My only issue with these fragrances is the poor longevity and very little sillage. Probably my chemistry! All the same, for a cozy, close embrace, Rosine is fine. But at the price tag...hmmm?

Wthis is a very nice moderately-lasting scent: the opening appeared a bit shampooey to me, but this impression eventually went away. I love the rose and berries combination: i find it very cozy and pleasant to wear, it is not very sweet, more floral. well done!

I felt a bit let down by this one, only scored it 6/10 on my P de R scale. Nothing to really dislike about it, but I had hoped the berry note would last longer, it faded within the hour, leaving just a mildly fruity rose fragrance behind.

I never understood before what people meant when they said a perfume was "scratchy", but now I do. There is so much green in this, so many soapy aldehydes that it forms a scratchy rose and absolutely makes me think of dryer sheets.

A very fresh green perfume. To my opinion it is somehow a more uniseks one because of it's greenish scent that comes from the raspberryleafs and the vetiver. Good for the summer realy refreshing

Lovely scent! very youthful and lively, it starts with crushed berry sherbet vs rose, but quickly openes up as a fresh, juicy black currant - and a little bit of iris.

Fresh, a little green, a little aquatic and just a tad bit fruity. Low to moderate longevity, stays close to the skin.

I could drink this totally! This fragrance is like nature's candy, i wish the top note lasted longer though.

A very green, mature rose. Shocking in an elegant way, but not my favorite rose; it's a bit bitter, too.
