Un Zephir de Rose

The basil is the dominating note on the first whiff, thus the herbal scent. But I guess it must be my body chemistry as the basil scent didn't last very long. The anise and rose scents start to take over, but then just as suddenly, the smell disappears in my skin altogether. Depending how the scent reacts to your body chemistry, it can be a rather nice light scent.

I often find basil notes smell quite unlike basil on me, and that's my best explanation for what happened here. The top layer is a floating, high-projection rose, pleasantly accurate. Unfortunately the other notes don't work at all—instead of getting "herb garden" I get something rough, soapy, bitter, and hospital-adjacent. On first spray, this is very rose. However, within the first few minutes the mid notes become apparent. It doesn't smell like anise or basil to me; instead it smells metallic and harsh and slightly antiseptic. 35 minutes in that's all I can really smell, and it's enough that I had to try to scrub it off. Not a good match for my skin.

On my skin the most dominating note is basil, I don't get any anise at all, such a pity - I love it in perfumes. So here I am left with this weird basil&rose combo, this is not dominated by rose, but it is of course noticeable, this is an extremely soapy rose and that makes it hard for me to enjoy this. I can though appreciate the weirdness and uniqueness in this perfume from the loads of basil, but this is not for me, it turns metallic/sour and really soapy on my skin and I do not enjoy smelling this.

What an odd combination of notes are presented in Les Parfums de Rosine ZEPHIR DE ROSE, above all: rose, aniseed, and basil. All three are quite evident, though the rose and the basil are more prominent than the aniseed, but it is definitely there too, lurking in the background. I also do believe that I smell the ambrette in this composition, though I haven't been able to identify it in some of the other Rosine rose perfumes in which it is listed as a note. ZEPHIR DE ROSE doesn't really remind me of a gale of warm wind so much as a kitchen in which fresh chopped basil is sitting on a table next to a bowl of fennel seeds and a bouquet of pink roses. It's an unlikely but not unappealing combination. I have a feeling that the loud rose may be too much for some guys, and the basil too much for some gals. One thing is clear: this is definitely unique among rose perfumes!

An absolute beauty, very light and natural smelling. Fresh, delicious basil, with a honey undertone, and fresh pink roses, without any anise. At least not on my skin, luckily. It's a windy breeze, that went through blooming roses and basil plants and brought the sweetness and coolness with it. Absolutely refreshing and perfect. Sadly the lasting power and silage are very delicate. Still lovely for summer time. I don't understand the bad reviews. I have tested the entire Rosine line, and this is one of my favorites. A true delicacy, very original and unique; if it was stronger, I would give it a perfect 10, but they diluted a but too much...Still this remains my absolute favorite from Rosine line, I just adore it.

This has been my signature scent for years. Now I find it is no longer available, very sad for me! I love rose, but dislike musk, powder, amber or spice - at least, I don't like them on me (I often enjoy them on others). This was a unique blend, herbal and fresh, but a deeply immersive true rose. I miss it so much and haven't yet found anything to compare.

I gave this 8/10 on my P de R scale for being a very clever fragrance, it really does smell like roses surrounded by a herb garden with a cool breeze blowing, though it is rather too impersonal for my taste. I can see that it's nice for an outdoor, day in the country kind of use.

Oh, this is most peculiar! It doesn't smell floral at all to me - just herbal (must be the basil) and in some way chemical/synthetic. I usually like anise as a note, but I can't detect it here. I find this one unpleasant and had to wash it off quickly.
