Encre de Vigne

An unusual scent. Light, aerie, feels balmy on my skin. Rain feel, eucalyptus, saffron, creamy sandalwood with a hint of grape bubble gum.Very light & almost transparent. The only downside, I feel, is the projection & longevity, but oh well, I will be able to overspray it & not annoy the people around me :)

Was not a huge fan of this one, and I have other powdery fragrances which fit better into my collection.

The eucalyptus between sandalwood and patchouli gives Encre Vigne sophistication. It does feel like in a cold morning of a hot autumn day you smell the vine leaves with the branch, laid on a piece of wood with resin on the bark, some waxy citrus zest for decoration and there’s sweetness drizzled on top - like very subdued honey-vanilla but with a saffron+amber depth. It’s elegant, it’s interesting , you can dress it down too - it’s versatile. If you like Nishane Ani and you can’t justify its price tag, give this one a try. No ginger or smoke here, neither much of the rest of the notes of Ani, but trust me, they are close. It’s very well blended, it’s dense, spicy and ambery, it develops nicely and it’s absolutely unisex. Nishane can become a bit cloying and some people around me found it overwhelming, but not this one. It’s Ani “Lite” :) and I honestly appreciate that I can change into another fragrance after few hours of wearing it. Do yourself a favor and get yourself a bottle. If you happen to dislike this - for the price, the worst that can happen is that you’ll at least be relieved to not have spent a pretty penny on Ani to find it wasn’t for you. But something tells me that you’ll be happy to have discovered this gem. If you are on a kick and want to enjoy some similar accords, here are few "relatives" to feel covered - - Nishane Ani - the thickest version - smoky, there's ginger and is most dense. Unisex. - Pepe Jeans Celebrate for Him - more casual and masculine leaning due to its aromatic twist. Make sure you don't grab another flanker of the line - they are different. Same category as Encre de Vignes, which are just as casual, but don't lean masculine. - Byredo Gypsy Water - citrusy vanilla with a juniper note instead of ginger, which makes it perfect all year round, especially hot weather. Unisex and if you wear it through the day, you can definitely chase it with any of the other scents I mentioned. Suits audience of all ages. Most versatile. Hardly for an evening ware though, unless you are a smart and interesting teen. Worth mentioning: Moustache de Rochas or Cedrat Boise Mancera and Ambre Noir Yves Roche could be mentioned here, but the first is too spicy, and the next is a more citrusy version of the first minus the spices and the last one is also masculine leaning, driving more in the .. dark amber lane obviously :). But all these should do, should you decide to indulge on some of the accords that group them together.

Nutmeg, herbal sandalwood, and an everlasting patchouli, opaque with those typical thick amber nuances. Staying days and days on the clothes. Strange and interesting blend, unisex. Too Martian for me.
