Arboretum

Yep, gourmand, soapy, shampoo, I agree with several of the reviews on here!! It has a wonderful amber note that makes this perfume powdery.. Sounds odd and to be honest when I smelled it from the bottle I thought no, no, no!!! But I've learned over the years that just because it makes me cringe at first, doesn't mean I won't love it on my skin. Sure enough a few spritzes and I am in this summery,exotic paradise. Oddly familiar yet wildly unique! This is great!

On me Arboretum starts out as a bitter herbal smell, like medicinal tea (which I like, but would not choose as a perfume). The cardamom and amber scents emerge amongst the herbal greens relatively quickly, and give the fragrance an exotic feel. I can imagine this new smell surrounding me under an arbor in the evening in hot, humid locale. After 1/2-hour, I really start to notice the ylang ylang, which persists through the dry-down. It lasts for at least four hours, and stays close to my skin. Honestly, I didn't like it when I first tried it, but Arboretum has grown on me. I find it sweet, spicy, and romantic, while not being overtly floral or gourmand. This smells very sexy to me.

I had to write a new review since I have fallen in love with Arboretum! I now get where the nostalgic vibe came from. It remind me of Bic Nuit that I wore as a young teenager. The ylang-ylang note was popular in the 80's also. Anyway fast forward to today Arboretum do smells strongly of ylang-ylang but to me it smells like a divine banana/white chocolate/soap combo. Love!

I put a bit of the perfume cream that came in my Margot Elena subscription box on my wrist before getting into bed... had no idea what the notes were but it smelled quite green. Had no clue it had ylang ylang but it has delevoped into this green/floral spicy amber. Totally makes sense now and it’s addicting I wish I put more on!

Simple scent with soft, sweet Ylang-Ylang and warm, creamy Amber. It's linear, doesn't change much and basically smells like some sort of shampoo to me. Low sillage and moderate longevity on my skin.

I agree with the exotic feel and the shampoo smell. On me it's almost gourmand. I will try it again on a hot summer night. Something in it feel nostalgic, it is nice.

Musky, powdery, and smells kind of like almonds (must be the cardamom).Definitely has a vintage feel to it.

I have this perfume in the creme form and I really like it - it reminds me of Clinique Aromatic Elixir, but with a softer, more powdery base. It has almost no strong floral notes so the sharp green smell of the cardamon and the ylang-ylang really come through (I don't get a lot of amber on my skin). So many of today's perfumes are heavy on the floral side, maybe that's why this gives me an old-fashioned vibe. My husband and daughter say it smells like baby powder or diapers (unused diapers, at least - it has a cosmetics/soapy element) but that's just on the opening. After the dry down it gets a bit more complex. The creme form sits close to the skin but the longevity is actually quite good for a Margot Elena fragrance.

I bought this for loose change at a discount store a year ago, sprayed it indiscriminately, and now that my bottle is nearly empty, I'm realizing how much I love this. It's very simple and it smells like cosmetics, but it's just slightly vintage and powdery, floral and musky. This one isn't an attention grabber, and it isn't wildly original, but it is quietly feminine has insinuated its way into my heart.

Cardamom is one of my favorite scents in the whole world, and it's hard to find a perfume with this note. Cardamom and violet smell similar in fragrances I've found out. The bottle and packaging is very pretty and impressive too. The scent itself is simple cardamom with amber, just lovely and long lasting.
