Willow and Water

I was looking for something comparable to Nest's Passiflora (discontinued) and Willow and Water is it's gentle cousin. The overall frag is a lovely, watery green scent that reminds me of the best aspects of a lotus pond on a humid summer's day. As @HeidiLynn mentioned, the lotus has a warm muskiness that adds body to the green scent and dry down. The longevity is ok, maybe 4 hours tops. But for the price and pretty packaging, I would definitely recommend it to others.

I love this perfume. I had it in the cream form, and had to toss it out after a few years when it started to get weird. It's a really unique scent, but not in an uncanny or strange way, it's soft and fresh and comforting. The green notes are more fresh and sweet than astringent, more like steamed lotus leaves (if you've ever had zongzi, you know what I mean) than freshly-mowed lawns. It made me feel like a water nymph, like soft water and sunlight.

Love this scent. It smells fresh and green, but not herbal. It reminds me of tea and flower petals. This is the scent I'd expect at a relaxing spa. Makes me feel calm.

I blind bought a full size of this for $4 at Kohls a few months ago. Honestly, there are very few scent experiences that I *wouldn't* pay $4 for, so my review of Willow and Water will probably be somewhat corrupted by the ridiculously low price I paid for it. I like it a lot- it's clean, floral and inoffensive, though, as others have pointed out, the name is kind of a weird choice. Without the notes, I would have called this a sunny hyacinth, lily-of-the-valley, or even yellow floral. It's a little cloying, definitely what I think of as a stick-to-your-tongue type floral, but there's something a little peppery in it (watercress?) that anchors it. I don't think WIllow and Water is a complex scent, but it's clean and wholesome smelling. Does it makes sense to call it a 'church picnic fragrance?' Not exactly for me, but well worth what I paid for it.

Willow and Water started out so lovely. It's sweet -but not in a sticky candy sense- fresh, and watery. An unexpected powdery musk emerges after about an hour, which I don't love. I have only noticed it when I wore this perfume in a small, closed area (my car). Overall lasted probably 4 hours, maybe more. Sillage is moderate to strong. Would absolutely love it if not for the powder/musk. The notes listed in Fragrantica differ from the official Library of Flowers description of: Cut Greens (top), Flowering Lotus (middle), Watercress (base). [Update: @Bosem you are most likely correct. Heavy powder and musk are used together so often, I sometimes have trouble differentiating when I come across that heavy stifling sort of drydown. It overwhelms my senses and makes me a bit nauseous as well.]

Very refreshing! I look up the lotus flower and have learned that almost all of it is edible. That's may be the reason why Willow and Water make me think of a beverage or something green and sweet like green tea flavored ice cream. It's a bit sharp when first sprayed but settle down fast and doesn't seems very long lasting. I like that it's very feminine and has that watercress note that I love so much in Sea and Sky from Tokyo Milk. Sea and Sky is more marine and masculine so I prefer Willow and Water for myself. I was afraid of the cut greens note because I usually don't like Margot Elena's creations with that component (Sencha bleu, Crushed, Root) but I don't detect it here. It's a strong like for me and I will happily wear it this spring.

I've tried a few of the Library of Flowers, and this is the one that I like best (or I should say, I actually like). Maybe this line just isn't my style, but Willow and Water is quite a beautiful water lily scent with just enough fresh green notes to keep it interesting. I've found the other Library of Flowers scents to be either cloying (like True Vanilla) or disappearing (like Forget Me Not). This is just pungent enough to last but not so strong you have to be careful when you apply it. It lasts a few hours on my skin, with little sillage (which is fine with me). I would say this is a lovely Spring fragrance for the daytime. I think it could be layered successfully as well because of its simplicity.

From smelling the cap alone I thought I would have to be careful not to overspray, but I needn’t have worried : it’s very, very light. I went with 5 sprays 15 minutes ago and it’s barely detectable which is sad, because it smells familiar and fresh. Usually I can’t stand any note that claims freshly cut grass; I get hay fever and headaches from the smell IRL, how could perfume make it any better? By not lasting very long, or blending seamlessly with the other notes, which is how it goes in Willow & Water. It smells like late May sunshine, a fleeting feeling in the breeze.

This is pure gardenia/tuberose for me, and I love it. It smells like I just rolled around in flower petals. I personally don't get any "green". I can kind of understand the lotus note, because I do get the vibe of being near a pond or a stream when I smell it. Good perfume for the price and the bottle is darling. Very cottage core.

Watery, sweet lotus. Fresh cut grass. Daisies. This is so beautiful and natural smelling. Not a hint of alcohol. Not an ounce of chemical. It is so clean and cool and refreshing. Reminds me of cold rainy nights near the ocean.

This perfume translates to gardenia on me, not lotus. While I do love it's initial spark, I wish more green showed up to play. What green does appear saves it from being too sweet or cloying. The creme perfume, as opposed to the spray, provides a more potent aura that lasts longer and travels farther. This is a lovely spring/summer scent that elevates my mood despite the need for frequent applications.

Really interesting scent when first sprayed. It reminds me of a scented strawberry shortcake doll I had as a child, one that smelled like blueberries. Does not last at all on the skin, like less than half an hour. Haven't tried it on clothing yet. I wear it on my legs because it can be cloying.

I wanted to love every fragrance from this house because I’ve had wonderful experiences. Know that they’re all lovely, clean, and charmingly presented. I just personally think the aquatic notes are so faint that I can only pick up a lotus that reads matronly, like a gardenia. It’s an unobtrusive grandma scent.

Library of Flowers is another darling creation of Denver CO perfumer Margot Elena (Tokyo Milk, Lollia & Love and Toast). It is an American (subsidiary) company specializing "American small batch perfumery" and lovely. I adore watercress and willows are my favorite tree so I will be getting samples from this company as soon as humanly possible and reviewing. Other Library of Flowers scents are listed by the database but according to the website, only these are the ones available currently: Willow & Water (cut greens, flowering lotus & watercress) Arboretum (green cardamom, ylang-ylang & amber resin) Forget-Me-Not (osmanthus, rice powder & white orchid) Linden (linden blossom, narcissus & clover honey) Field & Flowers (apricot, honeyed blossom & wildflowers) Honeycomb (sugared fig, ambrosia honey & royal bee blossom) True Vanilla (bergamot, dark vanilla& amber) Not only are these scents quaint and quality, they are also affordable ($42 US for 50 ml EDP). Each scent also has hand crème, crème perfume (containing 3x the parfum of the EDP!) and bubble bath. Some scents are available in perfumed soaps. There are gift sets and duos available, as well. This smells incredibly green on me, especially with the initial application. Its almost TOO green, as I think fresh cut grass in the hot sun- a good memory, but not something I want to wear. I guess they did a good job as the top note is "cut greens" and it's not a artificial scent. Luckily, this dries down and becomes more lotus/musky. I don't get a super clean here which is my favorite, but the perfume doesn't promise that. I couldn't put my finger on what it smelled like a few hours later...and then it came to me- Paris Hilton. I wore that stuff out in my 20s. Made me want to get a Paris Hilton body mist from Walmart because it is far cheaper and might even have better silage. Gorgeous feminine scent. All in all this is good for a warm summer day or night.

I agree, this is a tranquil watery green floral. However, unlike many watery florals this settles from an initial cool crispness into a warmer muskiness. It blended better with my chemistry than I was afraid it would. And while green, it is neither herbal nor grassy but something sweeter and fresher. For such a light scent, it had 5+ hour longevity; and while it was light, it had more than low projection. Interestingly reapplication gave it a fleshier note that did fade but was very different than the first spritz.

I don't know about lotus or willow... but this 100% smells like tuberose. That banana bubblegum type of tuberose note that you smell in things like the original Michael Kors. In fact, this makes me think of a lighter, more transparent version of Michael Kors. It's definitely not lotus. And the name doesn't suit. But it is pleasant, like a warm afternoon. And elegant like a summer wedding.

@tea&roses The powdery note might be the lotus, not the musk. I found lotus powderiness sickening in the majority of scents (eg: Lotus blue by Aubusson). If it's the case, your review is very useful. Thanks.
