The quintessential “I dare you to follow me into the trees” autumn scent. The mood is straight out of Play Misty for Me: Carmel-by-the-Sea, 1971. Cold Monterey air. Clint Eastwood wandering cliffs and ocean-fogged redwoods, looking philosophical for five minutes and then having sex on the damp forest floor like a feral poet with a radio show. He was a DJ, she was an artist... the original bohemian mess. And if either of them had worn perfume, it would’ve been Bo. Hands down. Liis was aiming for a “hidden bohemia” aesthetic here, and yeah, they nailed the mise-en-scène and then some. 🔥 From the first spray, it is so clearly the California coast it’s almost illegal. All that salty, misty forest shit that tricks you into feeling poetic even though you absolutely are not. Redwood pine, cedar, guaiac wood, with a touch of warm spice and the faintest sweetness. Imagine burnt cane sugar melting over wood embers. The vanilla stays subtle, none of that cloying synthetic baking-extract nausea. But the true star here is Elemi. That spicy resin flash of peppery brightness that lifts the entire thing and gives it actual pulse. The blend is beautifully balanced, almost suspiciously so. It keeps quiet but stays impossibly noble, expensive-smelling (which it is, let’s be honest), and strangely dreamy, cinematic enough that if you don’t see it, that’s on you. This is also one of the truest genderless scents I’ve ever worn. I can almost see myself sharing it with a man like this: artistic, intellectual, giving that Master’s-in-Film trauma energy, the kind who wears pointed-toe boots and has opinions about Tarkovsky he really shouldn’t. He reads obscure philosophy to seem profound, but it’s the way you dismantle his arguments that makes him quietly short-circuit. He would never admit it, though. He is far too busy performing “cool.” But his temple would break a sweat and his neck would turn red. And if all of that sounds a little too detailed... maybe I do have a type after all. Crime me. Men in Bo smell tempting. That’s how cults start. 🕸️ For what it’s worth, I love smelling like tobacco. Everyone who has smelled it on me liked it. But I also know it is not everyone’s kink. The incense can lean heavy, and yes, especially on some women who must’ve angered the perfume gods, it can collapse into that hamster-cage wood shavings effect. Antique store. Sawdust. It happens. But if your skin chemistry turns it into a Victorian attic séance 🕯️, that is honestly still a vibe. On the right man, though? Damn. Unfair. The tobacco + incense combo on male skin is already lethal. But the whole thing becomes a straight-up infatuation starter. The write-filthy-poetry-about-him infatuation. A slow-burn, long-lasting, cross-the-line-and-see-what-happens kind of scent. My only complaint is how hard it is to get in Europe. Liis needs to fix their damn distribution before I start smuggling bottles across borders in my bra. 🫦 The quality and the concept of the brand are far too good to stay niche in such a stupidly inaccessible way. Still, Bo is a banger. A fragrance put together with borderline terrifying competence. I’d wear it to class, to a date, to a funeral, and to court. 4.5/5. Californian bohemia with a nicotine problem, a wicked sense of humor, and a morally negotiable sex life would smell exactly like this.

Bo... where do I begin? Though she’s perfect for every season, I stumbled upon her just as the leaves started to change, and it feels like fate. I’m not usually one for woody scents, but Bo does wood in a way that feels almost magical. The rich wood notes never veer too far into the masculine, while the vanilla base gently grounds her without tipping into sweetness. She’s perfected the delicate dance of balance. Bo has a presence that lingers like a soft melody. I was able to wear it for nearly 12 hours without becoming nose blind to it. Even better, she fills the room with a gentle warmth, like a butterfly floating on a breeze, visible without demanding attention. The person I imagine wearing this scent is someone who would take the extra 30 seconds to move a caterpillar out of harm’s way. Someone who laughs easily, cares deeply, believes in minimalism, but still has a bit of a tree-hugger spirit. Bo is for those with gentle hearts and wearing her makes me want to be one of those people too. TLDR: A unisex scent with great longevity, yet it remains soft and non-offensive. The kind of fragrance you wear on the morning of the best day of your life. Signature scent worthy.

Oh now this is gorgeous. This is a soft, airy woody vanilla fragrance - on me, it is slightly more woody than vanillin, but the combination of these notes blend so incredibly beautifully here. Every review that sings this perfume’s praises makes sense after smelling it. It’s an incredibly cozy scent that has a coldness to it, making it perfect for winter. Although soft and airy, it’s also quite deep and resinous; it’s quite perplexing and impressive that it pulls both of these qualities off so beautifully. I am a Diptyque Eau Duelle girly, but if you’re choosing between the two (given that they’re both popular woody vanillas), know that this is softer, airier, and more resinous, and lacks any pepperiness/spice. Eau Duelle is spicier and a much greener vanilla, much sharper in character where Bo has soft, rounded edges. If I’m honest, I think I prefer Bo to Eau Duelle, which is saying a lot as that has long been a favorite of mine. It creates the most beautiful scent bubble. I truly love this fragrance and now find myself in the predicament of wanting a full bottle!

Perfectly tempered vanilla timber. Like you tried to make s’mores out of dry tobacco as your chocolate, spiced cedar for graham cracker, and guaiac sawdust + sap for marshmallow. (Faintly toasted, not smoked). The overall feel is almost milk chocolaty, without going gourmand. This was the only Liis I didn't get to sample last year and, lo and behold, it’s hands down my favourite. Admire how Liis can take two “heavy” scents – sequoia heartwood and vanilla resin – and make them feel so clean and ethereal. Bo is a chimera of favourites: the incense plume of GWater, the fluttery wood-shavings of Santal 33, and the mallowy cashmere of By the Fireplace... but made wholly its own with that picture-perfect redwoods heart. Bay Area represent. Emanation is soft-spoken, but enduring (~5h on my skin). Mental Snapshot: A cathedral of sleeping giants. Sunlit mist wends through their limbs, sap beads from their arms like morning dew. Warm earth powders under your bare feet as you glide along to the birdsong. There are no splinters here. tl;dr: NorCal Galadriel 🪵 🕊️

Resinous, spicy woods in the best way possible. It’s light enough for summer but could pull cloying if you over sprayed. It’s dry down is to die for !!!! It’s not beast mode but it definitely packs a punch. It really reminds me of gris charnel but less sweet and traditionally oriental with way better longevity. I’d wear this without consideration with Gris I’d be like “is this too mature for me... Is everyone in the room going to hate this... is this just the dry down of Dior addict...wait I didn’t need to worry because it’s gone and has pathetic longevity 🤓 I’d say the let down with this fragrance is that it’s kinda expensive for a perfume I wouldn’t reach for every day. I don’t get why fragrances houses aren’t selling travel sizes and 30ml as a given 🧐 they wonder why schmoops be schmoopooing . Do better niche I don’t want 100ml bottles, I only wear 10 times a year, I’m a normal fragrance addict okay give me a lil 10ml travel to sniff !! Every time I wear this scent I get many, many compliments on it. Every. Single. Time. I've been collecting perfumes for over 35 years now and I don't garner the complements in abundance from my 500+ bottle collection like I do from this one. I had a few friends ask me if I was wearing Santal 33, mistaking Bo for it. While I kinda can see the resemblance, as they both have an woodsy airy plume to them. Bo also has warmer incense/resin/vanilla notes that make this addictively cozy. I absolutely adore this scent and hope this perfumer sticks around. I will definitely buy back-ups if I hear of them discontinuing this gem. The only set back to this scent is it's longevity. It lasts 3-4 hours on me. I have a travel spray I carry in my bag for touch up's, but I wish it stuck around longer. I find spraying on my hair and clothing helps with that a bit. Also, when it's brand new/fresh it's not as long wearing. I find my 4-6 months old bottle now lasts longer on me than when I first got it.

this is my perfect vanilla, my roman empire, etc.... my skin chemistry turns any frag with even the tiniest hint of a vanilla note into an absolute sugar bomb for some reason, but 99% of the time the vanilla just turns into this flat sweet nondescript scent that ruins the whole fragrance. this perfume is in the 1% that DOESN’T do that. this perfume made me understand why people like vanillas, because it actually smells like vanilla!!! it honestly is just a *smidge* too vanilla-y for me, if this were just a bit more woodsy i would absolutely die but i still love her exactly as she is :’) i smelled it in store, bought a sample online, and then bought a full bottle. this is actually my first full bottle of a niche or even non-cheapie perfume that i paid full price for (i bought ELDO you or someone like you from tjmaxx but it was like half price) and i barely had to hesitate because she’s perfect

This is so lovely. It’s woody like a sauna or a cedar cabin, but there’s some sweeter warm scents like vanilla, and I smell an amber, too, it seems (even though it’s not listed) and they sort of balance out the normally more masculine leaning association I have with wood scents. I adore woodlands and forests and yet I’m a bit girly too and this just fits that aesthetic to me so well. I adore this fragrance. And for what it’s worth, my 18yo daughter immediately asked what I was wearing the first time I wore it, and she rarely comments on a fragrance. I was surprised because she loves very girly mainstream scents like Prada Paradox and Ariana grande scents and this doesn’t feel anywhere near those. I think it’s just an easily appreciated yet unique and complex fragrance.

Bo was a sneaky surprise for me. I got their trad discovery set and I did not have my eyes on Bo at all, I was more interested in the rest of them. She immediately took the stage and I love her and can’t stop thinking about her. I don’t eff with vanilla scents that much (they usually don’t blend with my personality well) but Bo changed the game for me. It smells like when the sun is setting in a wooded grove and the green needles all turn that red golden color and you’re holding hands with something soft. Dreamy but grounded and interesting enough for me to keep my sniffer on all day. It’s an immediate nostalgic scent and I think I’m gonna try to keep it on for the summer and then reach for it when I need it most some cold and white January day

Oh my goodness! This finally shut me up about how I hate elemi in a fragrance. Either my nose has changed or the elemi in here is beautifully blended. I'm probably not the typical person who would LOVE this, 72 year old female who is a vanilla, fruity, gourmond-ish lover, but this is a beauty that convinced me to buy a big bottle. I mainly smell the cedar with a touch of tobacco. It reminds me of riding in a convertible with the top down through the redwood forest in California on a cool summer afternoon. I just love it. I never recommend perfumes because scent is so so personal and everybody's nose is different. But if i did i might insist you get this one: but start with a sample.

Quite honestly as someone who is still dipping their toes into the perfume world, Bo is currently one of my all time favorite fragrances. This scent is perfect if you want something slightly masculine , but unperformative and lacking department store qualities. As a lesbian I will say this fragrance gives me butch energy. Smells like a redwood forest hike, and perfect for anyone who likes earthy scents. Has a pretty good longevity, at least it doesn't seem to fade quickly enough that I think "wow that perfume doesn't last at all". But i'm not an everyday perfume wearer, so if you are it's longevity might not be up to your standards. My go-to woody smell, I can't seem to beat it.

I love Liis’ Bo with all my heart. It was love at second sniff. The first time I sprayed it, I was completely anosmic. Could not pick up a single note. I’m so glad I didn’t give up, because when it finally revealed itself to me, I was absolutely addicted. My first reaction was “sweet Christmas spices”, but subtle. Now, I also get sweet woods, like the scent of fresh cut pine. In fact, it layers beautifully with Maison Margiela’s By the Fireplace. Also Jo Malone’s Nutmeg & Ginger. That combo amplifies those holiday spices. On its own it is a skin scent, though. I’ve gotten compliments after giving people hugs while wearing this. Great for fall/winter, but I reach for it all year.

Mmmmm. I’m glad I stuck around through several Liis samplings that I didn’t love to get to Bo, because this one I do love. It’s beautifully woody and warm. Other reviewers seem to get 100% woody, walking through a warm forest, dry scent from Bo, but the vanilla gives this a distinct warmth and softness that approaches a sandalwood-like creaminess. I was surprised that sandalwood isn’t listed in the notes; if I had smelled this blindly, I think I would’ve identified the vanilla as sandalwood instead. If you, like me, love woody fragrances, love sandalwood, and prefer your vanilla subtle and not-too-sweet, this is absolutely one to try.

I didn’t notice the vanilla at all at first, but I notice it now, it’s very much there—but not too sweet which is lovely. This perfume really smells like the place it was named after: the foggy marine layer saturated in Redwood tree bark, crisp yet mild and soft Pacific Ocean air with a hint of coyote brush and ceanothus, and the morning after a beach bonfire lit with driftwood. It somehow manages to be clean and fresh like the coast, but also dry and clean like the beauty of the desert at the same time. It’s a wonderful tribute to Northern California. It’s natural and refined, absolutely love this scent.

This is not creamy in the slightest. This is a dry, powdery tobacco incense fragrance. It is a true unisex frag to me. This isn't reminiscent of By the Fireplace to me, that has a stronger smokey note. This reminds me of holidays with family. I am a midwestern gal if you did not gather that by the username :P but this brings about a sense of calm, it reminds me of the times I go camping and sit gazing out into the woods and feel that peace away from the distractions of city life. This is soothing, it transports you when you wear it. It is one of the most beautiful frags in my collection.

gorgeous woody scent that's somehow so simple but so captivating. one of those that i couldn't stop sniffing my wrist as soon as i put it on. it's so warm without being too sweet, but the vanilla does really start to bloom the more this dries. i love the journey from mysterious unisex woods to toasty sweet vanilla, like coming into a log cabin after a wander in the forest and snuggling by the fire. this frag feels very straightforward but somehow there's so much to explore in it and the harmony of deeply entwined various wood notes with gentle gourmand undertones is so so good.

I love this fragrance. It's so unique to me with the woodiness. I def smell the vanilla in the dry down. I do find Liis fragrances are very light on me though. I had to spray a lot and even with that, the scent sits close to the skin. But I love it and will definitely wear it. I'll just prep with moisturized skin and over spray fresh out of the shower. :) Not sure I'll buy a second bottle with the sillage but this one won't go to waste. I wonder if there's an ingredient Liis uses that makes me nose blind to their scents. I've also only worn once so a little more time will help.

Light, airy. Stevie Nicks when she's just peaceful and vibing. Bo is a dream. Beautiful, woody, and cozy. It's a little sweet and resinous. I would happily overspray this. Really fill up the room. I feel sexy in this but in a soft, natural, womanly way. It's not dynamic. It's familiar and comforting. Definitely a scent for the female gaze. I'm very much considering buying a bottle of this to take on my honeymoon to the west coast. I'd love to wear it in the Redwood National Park. I just layered this with Ellis Brooklyn West and wow! Highly recommend trying it if you own both.

At first it was giving me flashbacks to 6th grade science class where we kept hamster cages but after mere days of resting, Bo became the most beautiful, SOFT resinous sweet woody scent. And not sugary sweet but more of a natural almost skin-like sweetness. The blend of vanilla, cedar, and guaiac wood is divine. In a crowded room, she's not the type of girl that demands your attention but the one you will be compelled to give it to...a sleepy showstopper. My favorite from the Liis house that I have tried so far. Will definitely be picking up a full size of this.

Soft woods sweetened by toasty vanilla and deepened by resins - like sweet sap leaking out of tree bark. Guaiac wood lends a distant smokiness. Smelling this is the feeling of putting on the softest sweater you own in the fall. This is truly one of the most divine, comforting scents I have smelled so far in my journey through the world of fragrance and I will absolutely have a FB soon. It's everything - soft, smokey, familiar, round, fuzzy, warm. I can't stop smelling myself and being transported to somewhere more tranquil. So beautiful. 15/10!

This is my #1 go-to when I've had a rough day. Something about it calms me. It's a soft, sweet, heavy cedar, incense, green vanilla. I get no tobacco. No smoke. Just a cold, crisp, sweet cedar forest with a clean vanilla. Not really a gourmand... Altho the way-down-the-road drydown does go a bit towards a beautiful sweet marshmallowy musk. Picture you are at a ski lodge and you just come in off the slopes. You take off the soggy clothes and step into a cedar sauna while holding an open bag of marshmallows. Pure comfort and bliss.

This is one of those fragrances that based off the notes I thought I wouldn’t like. But after wearing my sample a few times I realized this is one of the most delicious vanillas in the drydown. It’s full of woody notes, palo santo, incense.. its makes me feel like a vegan yoga teacher that lives in Arizona, makes pottery as a hobby, and has big parties at her home with fancy hors d'oeuvres and lots of organic wine. It’s a vibe. And while that person is not me, I like to pretend sometimes (while wearing this).

I’ve been extremely drawn to gaiac wood ever since visiting a temple in Tokyo many years ago. The deep, sweet incense scent felt both comforting and sacred. When I first sprayed this, I got a lot of the Le Labo Gaiac 10 vibe. Then it mixed with a softly sweet vanilla, like Diptyque’s Eau Duelle. After about 30 mins it dries down to a vanilla + cashmere woods smell pretty close to my skin. Definitely still there, but intimate. It stayed like that for about 4 hours. A winner and an instant buy.

Wispy fall air laced with sweet decay, a handmade blanket tucked inside a cedar chest, campfire smoke sticking to your sweater, your grandfather packing tobacco leaves in his wooden pipe. But I could see how someone could hate this scent. I could see how it might remind someone of a musty attic, of worn and forgotten things on dusty shelves. It depends on what those images evoke in you - a treasure trove of rich memories to be parsed and explored, or a space to be cleared, to be avoided?

Bo....Bo... Bo This a magical elixir conjured up from the heart of soft enchanted forest. Meditative and also fully present. Utterly bewitching. Exquisite. Truly unisex. Could be worn anytime... First sniff + it was a gamechanger for me. (I've never had a perfume nearly reduce me to tears + want to give away all my other perfumes away!!) I've heard it said that the scent is reminiscent of the smell of a candle after it has just been blown out. It is and it is so so much more.

This scent has drawn compliments, at unexpected times - even 5 hours after applying. So great longevity + nice trail... And yet it's also natural, airy + gently niche - with a drydown to die for 🤍 Sidenote: This is not a gourmand scent per se and unlikely to appeal to people who like sweet gourmands... It is primarily a cedar/resinous buttery wood scent, on a backdrop of airy vanilla - a bit like the scent of tree bark in the forest with a hint of sunshine radiating through.

Bo is my second favorite perfume I have ever smelled or worn, second only to The Architects Club. These two are by no means the same, but both give me the same extremely comforting spa-like feeling with calming wood notes and non-gourmand vanilla. Bo is smokier with the incense and Architects is more zingy with citrus and juniper. I think these two fragrances are perfect counterparts for day and night. Love both, highly recommend both.

update review 78/100 it’s been 3 years, i gave it a try again, honestly, it’s such a fun scent now. it’s woody, yes it’s smokey and resinous, but not as i remembered. it gives it character i think, and sets it apart from the usual woody scent profile. the sweet of the resin is ambery and kinda special here, it’s just enough, to give an interesting cozy depth. i COULD see myself wearing it regularly on colder days.

Come for the cedarwood and stay for the vanilla. I've heard many, many, many times about "non-gourmand vanillas" but this feels like the first I've come across and understood. It's a soft, sweet, playful smelling fragrance - like sneaking out of your cabin early one morning during summer camp to sneak a dip in the lake or just sit at its edge, feet in cedar chips, watching the sun slowly rise over the water.

i did not expect to like this anywhere near as much as i actually did, but i have been well and truly bewitched. bo opens with a spicy smokiness that is really an entire forest in disguise: the trees, the sap, the crushed leaves. it's a cold, diamond look into the woods, and it transitions into this faint but still sharp sweetness. i don't say this lightly, but it's full-bottle worthy.

I love this perfume so much. I find that I don’t reach for it often because I have to be in a certain mood, but every time I wear it I get whiffs of it all day and I LOVE it. The incense note carries so well and it gets sweeter throughout the day as the vanilla comes through. It truly reminds me of camping in a pine forest, but done in such a lovely way that I want to smell like.

Surprised by how vanilla and spicy the opening is. More of the woody, pine, and incense comes through in the dry down, but still much sweeter and rounded out than I was anticipating. The wood scent is so specific; smells like walking through a national park gift shop or sticking your head in the cedar chest storing your childhood toys. Inexplicably nostalgic, I totally love it.

Was my signature scent until recently. VERRRYY woody; reviews that say it smells like a woodshop/pencil shaving crack me up, they're not entirely wrong. I still love it as a more complex vanilla scent (it's not sweet at all but does dry down to a unisex smoky vanilla) but have found new favorites. That being said, would still repurchase. Try a sample before buying!

it's an absolute shock to me how much i love this. i enjoy a pretty wide range of fragrance genres (freshies, gourmands, etc.) but i've never gravitated toward anything smoky or incense-y. this recalls the nature that inspires it so beautifully and cleanly. this is a just-blown-out campfire, almost peppery. i may have to save up for a full bottle.

god every time i wear this i remember how good it is. i get a super dry redwood scent, like the inside of a really nice jewelry box or wardrobe. the vanilla just blends with the wood so it smells like the wood itself is sweet and comforting. this is a perfect fragrance for winter or fall to give those cozy, curled up by the fireplace vibes.

Bo is the easiest scent to wear in my collection. It's not groundbreaking or complex and the notes are pretty much straightforward in the composition. It doesn't feel cheap or hurried but instead takes its time in its simplicity. Grab and spray and you will smell great, in an ethereal dusting of sweetened woods sort of way.

I have tried so so many woody perfumes the last few months looking for anything that gives me the feeling this does, and nothing comes close. Out of so many, this is the most rich, rounded, cozy scent. Robust woods and enveloping vanilla, both complimenting each other perfectly. Makes me feel like Noah Kahan's Stick Season

i didn't think i would like this, not considering myself to be much of a wood-scent person, but Bo's smoky sensuality hooked me. smells like standing in a fragrant forest in summer. it's a very light, beautiful smoke note too - not overpowering or acrid at all on my skin. imo another major banger from Liis

I love this scent, I get almost no vanilla (not a negative), I only wish I had something similar to wear during hot weather. Lovely and lasts a million years on me, so my 2.5 ml sample is lasting me a long time. It's difficult to find it here in the EU so I might consider a full bottle

Grounded and earthy, but also light as air. A true unisex scent! So much warmth beneath the smoky, woody incense--cinnamon and vanilla. Lightweight but also packs such a special punch. To a passerby this might be reminiscent of a sandalwood-forward scent, but there is SO MUCH DEPTH.

This is absolutely GORGEOUS. The WOODS! So comforting and uplifting at the same time. Opens with a beautiful layering of the dry woody notes, then the vanilla provides a cozy base. Outdoorsy and spa like at the same time. Dammit, Liis, you're going to have all my money.....

LOVE. Smoky, subtly sweet, tangy. Thin incense smoke wafting by, it feels inspiring and light. It transports me to a luxurious sauna in the California coastal woods, I can’t get enough! I got a decant and just know I’m gonna spring for a full bottle when it’s empty.

The Perfection itself. As the previous reviewer wrote, it smells like a very nice spa. And I can really appreciate that kind of thing. Sprayed on a paper strip was nothing special, but on my skin divine. And very sensual. Pretty quickly became one of my favourites.

Oh my god the sequoia note is sequoia-noting big time. As a lifelong east coaster with west coast family and a love of Disneyland, this smells like summer vacation to me, so I can’t see myself wearing it in the fall/winter months. But it’s good. Like...really good.

I find it sweet, but not in a gourmand way. To me it feels airy, bright and uplifting and more suited to warm weather than cold. The sweetness really combines well with the gaiac wood to tone down the heavier smokey barbecue smell it gives off sometimes.

I smell like a sauna. A nice, warm smell of pine and fresh tree resin. As if I was a child, breaking a needle tree branch and having the tree sap stuck on my hands and clothes. But this time there's no sticky residue, only the warm nostalgic scent.

I adore this one. Took me a bit to come around but as the summer is cooling off this one is becoming a best friend. Blanket-like in how it its scent bubble cocoons me. Warm, comforting, elegant yet rugged. Day or night. Liis can do no wrong.

Liis Bo is a wonderful woody vanilla fragrance that I enjoy. As a Californian who’s been to forests like Yosemite, this smells like a California forest. I’m also interested in exploring more of the Liis house because it’s a clean brand.

i’ve savored my sample of this for so long and finally caved and upgraded to the full bottle. this is such a sexy, complex woody vanilla. glossier you doux’s cooler older sister. can’t live without her in the fall/wintertime.

If Le Labo Gaiac 10 and vanilla had a baby. I adore this scent. It's got a very dry, woody scent with a perfectly creamy vanilla base. The incense is there, but not overpowering or really smokey. Love.
