Choux Choux

Liis Choux Choux is divine! I was so scared because I've been having bad luck with gourmands. This is one of the best citrus vanilla gourmands yet. Some people seem to be getting a sharp lemon cleaner vibe, but I don't. I did get that lemon cleaner sharpness in the opening of Akro Bake and D&G Devotion while others didn't, so it depends on the person I guess. This is fluffy vanilla from the very beginning. Like a cloud with lemon lightly zested on top. Lightly. The whipped cream most likely creates that sweet fluffy cloud texture I get, and it's not nauseating from being too lactonic. The slightest coconut vibe is in here too, in this blend. The caramel and vanilla balance the lactones and help maintain the sweetness, while the very light salt and mocha/cocoa balance the sweetness. Too much salt with sweetness and coffee/chocolate in general can also be bothersome, but here they're done in the perfect amount to allow this to be worn for most of the year, whether it's warm or cold. Finally a tame but refined creamy sandalwood creeps below the sweet fluffiness to blend everything. Longevity is 6-7ish hours on me. I agree with the below reviewer Earthymoon: 18Jan2025 "...This is if Afternoon Delight and Akro Bake were layered with slightly soapy sea air. It has great longevity on an airy profile." The perfect blend with each other fixing the other, so the lemon is smoothened and the milky cream is lifted.

A clean girl gourmand if I’ve ever smelled one. Opens with a maelstrom of powdered sugar, settles into an air-puffed meringue, and slowly drifts off as a cocoa butter. While I’m totally blind to the lemon and mocha, the salted caramel note is succulent. It has the same airy, translucent quality as most Liises, but totally unlike its siblings in its longevity. I got twelve hours out of three puffs to the collar. It’s a bit too precious for my style (my favourite hyper-femme scent still remains Regime des Fleur’s Glass Blooms) but it makes me want to buy a creampuff Selkie dress and daydream at a sunny bistro table. Mental Snapshot: Pastry school princess. She specializes in the little treats: the madeleines, the mille-feuille, the macarons, the macaroons. Breathy soprano, eyelet lace, French plait trimmed with a bow. If she were a dessert, it’d be a triple-tiered Saint Honoré, brushed with caramel. You’ve never heard her swear before, but she can really scream when she wants to. tl;dr: sugar baby 🍮🕊️ EDIT (6 months later): have found my revisiting this scent again and again. It scratches my brain in a way that no other dessert gourmand has. Revising my "like" to a "love." I don't find myself wanting to smell like a sugarpuff all too often, but when I do I want to smell like Choux Choux.

Best lemon vanilla scent I’ve ever smelled. The lemon is zesty and creamy in the beginning. The dry down is this wonderful airy and soft salted caramel with creamy vanilla plus a tiny bit of lemon. It really does smell like a pastry but not cloying at all. It’s super airy, soft, light and fluffy, I think this is might be suitable for summer even, although I’d mainly wear it for the fall, winter and spring months. This is one of the best soft and clean gourmands I’ve ever smelled. It doesn’t smell that amazing when you spray it on your hand but it smells absolutely divine when you put this on your neck area. I keep on getting whiffs of it throughout the day and it’s so lovely. Longevity is pretty good, lasted all day. I only used 2 sprays of the sample and my coworker said I smelled really good at the end of my work day!

Oh wow. Whoever said this is a clean girl gourmand was 100% right. I imagine this is what a cute bakery inside a luxury hotel would smell like. It smells like a salted lemon vanilla pastry in a really clean and sophisticated way. The lemon is the strongest note at first but then it dries down to a creamy, buttery scent. This is the classiest gourmand smell I've ever smelled. It's not overly sweet nor juvenile. There's also something nostalgic about it.. I agree with perfumelvr98, definitely a plastic doll head and cocoa butter smell which I think really brings all the notes together perfectly. This could be worn any season and any time of day. This is what I imagine a woman like Charlotte York would wear. Especially to some WASPy afternoon tea/brunch event lol.

This fragrance is so well blended, it’s a complete dream to wear! I don't pick up on anything synthetic, I’d categorize this fragrance as a gourmand for grownups. It wears so beautifully throughout the day, I get a good 6-8 hrs. It’s softly sweet, warm, alluring, ethereal. When I wear this I have to spray some on my inner wrists and I smother my nose into my arm periodically throughout the day (yes, like a weirdo) because I can’t get enough of it, it is that good. This is how I know when a fragrance is full bottle worthy. I also own Bo, both are beautifully executed and there is something almost grounding about both fragrances - they’re peaceful and cozy to wear. Choux Choux is a fuzzy sweet dream to wear and it’s an absolute LOVE for me.

Sprayed on paper, it immediately gives a pleasure able powdery gourmand with a very slight floral undertone. On my skin it remains a powdery whipped cream but the citrus is a lot more prevelant (though not even noticeable.) The silliage is not strong at all. Overall it is a very different and soft gourmand that seems exclusive to Liis. Makes sense why it one of the few scents that are available in the candle form (I will be purchasing.) I immediately heard falling by julee cruise, as it felt like a soft and sweet enjoyable whisper that is beautifully open. edit: If you want something similar to this, i would say milk (expressive) by commodity is probably it.

this is one of my favorite fragrances. it is light and airy while simultaneously feeling a little deep and sexy. I could see this as a beautiful signature scent. I agree that the lemon note is fleeting, but what’s left is stunning in it of itself. I can see this as a nice summer scent as I get slight sunscreen notes, or more so the depth and richness some tanning oils have, not so much the floral/solar notes of some SPF. the salt and cocoa balance out the sweetness of the whipped cream beautifully, and what’s left is a whispy, well blended scent bubble that feels almost like a beautiful sheer veil. I will own a full bottle at some point, it’s a MUST!

I have tried a number of samples today.And this is the only one that hasn't disappointed me so far. The opening is one of the most beautiful vanilla and lemon scents I have ever experienced. I attribute this to the addition of caramel and salt. It gives it more depth than some other perfumes who shall remain unnamed at this time. I don't get as much of the cream as I necessarily would like. Overall, this is a incredibly well composed fragrance. I would even say that she is worthy of buying a full bottle. Which I will be looking into immediately.

Liis really nailed the "ethereal gourmand" concept with Choux Choux. I'm not usually a gourmand fan but this one has just the right amount of sweetness and airiness. The opening can be a little sharp, but the drydown is so soft, warm and cozy. I love spraying it on my hair and catching subtle whiffs of it throughout the next few days - it's HEAVENLY. Longevity is really good especially for a Liis fragrance; it lasts 10 hours on me. My favorite scent from the house, and one of my favorite gourmands!

I'm starting to agree with other commenters, there is a drydown quality I'm not the biggest fan of... but it's not a dealbreaker. This is still a lovely, light gourmand that reminds me of childhood. I smelled this one time and couldn't stop thinking about it! I was torn between this and Akro Bake, and ultimately went for this one even though it's more $$$. Comparatively, it's more nuanced than Heavy Cream and MM Afternoon Delight.

I’m typically not a gourmand lover, but this one is such a treat. It starts off as an airy, fluffy pastry scent (almost cannoli-like) with sweet cream and a touch of lemon, nothing overwhelmingly sugary. Afterwards, it turns into a slightly salty caramel and vanilla before settling nicely into the creamy sandalwood base with a whisper of cocoa. It’s super light, but extremely enjoyable and decadent.

One of the more unique and pleasant gourmands I’ve gotten my nose on. You could wear this anywhere any time. Lemon tart meets creamy vanilla, I love the milk note that I pick up I know it isn’t listed but that’s what I get, maybe it’s the whipped cream. Honestly i love it and it’s perfectly unisex, would be interested in what you can layer this with. 8.5/10

Pretty balance between realistic gourmand and fresh/citrusy so it’s not cloying in my opinion. I’m a Bianco Latte hater and I loved this. Definitely a compliment-getter when I wear it. Photorealistic pastry smell. I’ll say it wasn’t love at first sniff - I gave my sample some more spritzes recently and now it’s on my full-bottle wishlist.

I enjoyed this a lot more than I thought I would. I'm not a big fan of salty scents but this is done so beautifully and the salt isn't overwhelming. On me it smells like a lemon and vanilla custard with a sprinkle of salt and sandalwood. I don't pick up any mocha or chocolate. The only minus is that it doesn't seem to last very long.

I'm usually not a fan of sweet fragrances on myself, but when I saw that Liis launched one I *had* to try Choux Choux does not disappoint. It's a demure French bakery girl giving you a soft smile so you'll tip her a little extra - or is she flirting? Unfolds and envelopes you in the most comforting way. Liis remains supreme!!

Gourmand lovers will love this. This is a warm vanilla cake with lemon icing. It smells warm, sweet and comforting. The lemon zest isn’t too prominent it’s fades into the background. I was surprised how much I loved this. The only complaint is the longevity and how expensive this is for the amount you’re getting.

This is a gourmand for non gourmand people. Airy and woody lemon smell, like a super clean pastry shop. Not overwhelming and not incredibly sweet, I do notice the sandalwood quite a bit. Only complaint is that I feel like it doesn't last very long, and applying tooooo much can hurt my head a little.

hmmm.. weird how each of us smell something so different. I dont get a lemon pie, i dont get lemon curdle and I dont get stank. I do get sweet creamy cloudy boozy sandalwood; no booze note listed but i do find this intoxicating. This fragrance is a delight - but very sweet.

I work as a RN and love this fragrance for work! It last quite a long time especially on cotton shirts. It’s not to strong where it’s uncomfortable for patients but all my coworkers have complimented me on this scent when in arms length. Just smells warm and comforting!

I swear this reminds me of something! Maybe a mix of God Is A Woman by Ariana Grande and Celestial Object from this brand? It definitely smells similar to Celestial Object anyway but with an added smell of a lemon tart and cream

I found this to be a beautiful, light, delicate lemon with a flaky pastry crust. I love this and so does everyone else when I wear it. It is not a gourmand bomb; it's actually quite light. I am buying my second bottle now.

Velvety, creamy, feminine. Stays soft and, unlike a lot of gourmands, doesn’t turn powdery with the dry down. The lemon note fades after a while, but it leaves a beautiful subtle sweetness behind. A crowd pleaser for sure.

There has to be an almond note in here! Very nice pleasant not too sweet scent. Creamy lemon vanilla.. nothing ground breaking or new. Fades pretty quick. If you like a gourmand lemon vanilla smell you will like this.

I just purchased this and it's almost similar to Akro's Bake. However, I prefer this one so much more. It's subtle on the citrus side and smells terrific. I love Liis' ability to create beautiful and soft fragrances.

smells just like a patisserie :) cookies, marshmallows, sweet cake, sweet fluffy cream, just perfect. to me, it gets better and better as it fades- like a fresh lemon bar to an aforementioned chocolate chip cookie ♡

Really pretty gourmand. Airy. The dry down (after about 5 minutes) smells pretty similar to ZADIG & VOLTAIRE This is Her! because of all the whipped cream and sandalwood. I'd say if you like 1 you'd like the other.

Soft, whipped, airy, fluffy lemon vanilla pastry. Very light and intimate. Great for people like me that don’t love sugary sweet gourmands and have headache tendencies from really strong synthetic perfumes.

What can I say about this fragrance? It was love at first sniff for me, and the dry down is even better! Instantly went to purchase the full bottle from overseas as they don't stock in the UK :(

warm and spicy but still light and fresh which makes it a perfect early fall gourmand. smells even more incredible after you've sweat a lil or smoked a cigarette.

I get a cherries and cream scent on my skin. It’s powdery, and I also get a note of almond. Reminds me of spumoni ice cream and I love it!

I wear this to bed because it's so comforting and it smells like somebody hugging you. That's the impression I get. I love it.

i blind bought this and do not regret it one bit!! it's amazingly sweet and musky while not being too strong.

There has to be coconut in this! It’s really all I smell. I love a tropical note so no complaints.

on my skin, this is very much photorealistic choux pastry. it opens quite citrusy which i surprisingly don't mind too much as a hater of citrus notes. it settles into something like a lemon tea cookie, or lemon macaron before later drying down to that warm, flaky choux. it fits just the right amount of sweetness and isn't cloying at all, in fact it's soft and airy like smelling a waft of freshly baked cream puffs. i'll have to test the longevity but for me it gave quite a scent bubble and was complimented entering work! i do have to mention however that the lemon zest note sticks around to the dry down and if you think about it hard enough it smells VERY similar to lemon scented clorox wipes or lemon scented trash bags :( edit: longevity is easily 8+ hours, i've gotten home from work and can still faintly smell the fragrance on skin, even more strongly from my hair. i think it would last even longer on clothes if anyone wants to try.

This is a light, fluffy, vanilla with some citrus notes. The caramel isn't heavy it's very mellow and balanced. No spices or heaviness like with Kerosene's vanilla perfume. If this happens to help someone: I tried a few vanilla perfume samples over the past weeks including Promises, Promises by Kerosene, Eau Duelle by Diptyque, Vanilla Sky by Skylar, Fresh cream by Fresh, Afternoon Delight by Replica, and Sweetly Known by Kerosene and so far this one is my favorite. It smells similarly to Afternoon Delight but not as complex and lasts longer. I would consider buying a bottle of this more but the sillage isn't there for me and that can be a good thing but kind of typical for this kind of scent. I do like it though. I think the citrus really balances it out. I'd imagine this is what people are begging for from Lush's Super Milk. I'm hoping to try Unknown Pleasures and Akro Bake soon to see if it will have that silage I am looking for.

I always find it interesting to compare paper to my skin. On paper, the notes read very close to what is listed — it's serene, edible-adjacent and warm with some tangy energy from the lemon zest. On my skin, it has this sharp, peppery note that brings it to life and makes it so much more. The pepper & lemon zest keep it from going into the fully edible category. They are especially noteworthy for the first hour or two before drying down into a softer, creamy, comforting whip with the depth of cocoa and the brightness of lemon zest. I really, really like it — it kind of feels like "secret pajamas" — its comforting yet elevated at the same time. I will say that the staying power, on me, is just okay (4 hours where its noteable followed by a very, very delicate skin scent)... although it does significantly better when my skin is very hydrated. Mood — Draped silk & cashmere

I love Liis. I love whipped cream gourmands. Sadly, I did not love this. I'm generally not a huge fan of citrus with my vanilla, but it was pleasant to begin with - a whipped cream made with a dash of lemon zest. I didn't *love* the opening, but I liked it. After a bit, it moves into a very sweet sandalwood dusted with cocoa powder, which I also didn't love. Overall, it was nice. I devoted my whole day to it and it never quite captured my heart. As much as I'd love another cute Liis bottle on my shelf, it won't be a FS for me. I really hope Liis takes another stab at the lightweight gourmand category because the vibe is right, the notes were not (for me.)

The lemon zest opening is so good! But then it disappears. Drydown is coconut-vanilla sunscreen. Not sure why there's no mention of coconut in the notes, because this is seriously coconutty. Not my personal fave, but I recommend it if you want to smell like a coconut cookie! Edit: Okay, I'm wearing it today and decided I enjoy smelling like a coconut cookie! Makes me want to bake treats. The cocoa undertones are more evident on skin, too. I really love sandalwood-based fragrances (even funky synthetic ones that others say are plasticky or pickle-like), so I guess Choux Choux was up my alley after all!

The opening is BEAUTIFUL. Zesty lemon and sweet, airy whipped cream. Unfortunately, this one looses its IT factor in the dry down. It becomes salty(I hate salt) and has an unsweetened cocoa note & musk. Not a bad dry down, but it doesn’t wow me like the opening does. I prefer Akro Bake. These two are quite similar in the opening but bake is linear, staying the same (for the most part) throughout the wear of the fragrance. Choux Choux’s dry down is nothing like bake. I still think Choux Choux is such an interesting & multifaceted scent many would enjoy.

I get a very similar drydown to Maison Margiela Replica Afternoon Delight in this- soft whipped cream and sandalwood with a dusting of cocoa and caramel. The opening has a whiff of lemon meringue which gives the whole composition a bit of levity that I admire. It's a much gentler gourmand lemon pastry type of scent than, say, Xerjoff Lira or Al Rehab Soft, which I enjoy because I find it to be more wearable. I haven't smelled Lemon Puff by Nette yet but that's next on my list!

It's beautiful, even if redundant. Has an opening of lemon zest but sweetened heavily with sugar crystals - this isn't a "cleaner" type lemon. Beneath that is pure buttery vanilla pastry but it's a deep and caramelly and a little bit toasted. The dry-down is a cozy musk. Fairly simple but very enjoyable. Doesn't last very long.Out of all the plethora of lemon-y pastry scents out there, I'd rather have Unknown Pleasures by Kerosene.

This is very sandalwood heavy scent. I smell sandalwood first, then a very airy milky gaseous whipped cream that is sweet but not overly so. I actually like it a lot. I don't get lemon really. It's almost like a better quality Zadig and Voltaire This is Her - that one doesn't work for me because there's some sort of synthetic wood in it that rubs me the wrong way, so if you want to like that scent but don't, maybe try this one.

Lactonic creamy, zesty and hawaiian vanille. VÆry creamy. Quite simple and straightforward yet beautiful, sweet and so smooth. Unlike most lactonic fragrances I have went through this one actually pulls it off pretty good, there is little to almost no synthetic note in here. The vanilla here is lightweight and somewhat fruity. Other than that this frag is unique, comfy, somewhat unisex but also mostly feminine. I like this.

The opening here is a little rough and slightly sharp with a lemon zest opening but the scent develops into a really lovely gourmand. It’s like a doughy profiterole with a carmelized top and a crumbly chocolately touch. I will say in a sea of gourmands I don’t find it to be anything new but it’s lovely nonetheless and I can understand why its been such a love amongst people.

The salt is very prominent, which is why I can’t love it. I like it. It is zesty and salty with a subtle note of caramel. I wish it was fluffie, softer and sweeter. UPDATE: Ok choux choux really grew on me. It is absolutely fabulous! I now crave the saltiness. It is delicious. A beachy gourmand. Like sipping a margarita by the beach while eating a caramel dessert
