Calypso

This is a lovely green scent with sweet citrus. The seagrass is heady but not musty or overpowering. Loquat is a heavenly stonefruit smell, like a plum only richer and more complex. The cedar in this is very light and fresh. A nice scent for men or women, it is reminiscent of walking barefoot in an island herb garden.

Just like Fresh Water and South Water, Calypso is another unisex eau de cologne created by the company, made to please everyone, without exception. It was launched in 2013 and its inspiration comes from the musical rhythms and lifestyle of the islanders. It has notes of neroli and bergamot, in the output; loquat and seagrass, in the heart; aquatic notes and white musk, in the base. Do not expect a unique or innovative fragrance because it is not what you will find. It is very difficult to create a cheerful and invigorating fragrance that can be worn by both sexes and escape the common place. This achievement has already been reached when the company created South Water, which is different, juicy and tropical. For those seeking an olfactory reference, Calypso touches the skin with a very pleasant fragrance, reminiscent of several others in the same style of Tommy for Men (Tommy Hilfiger). Then, sweet and sour nuances emerge, changing the citrusy aspect into a fruity aroma. Finally, the fragrance shows itself oceanic, but still fruity, only much weaker, remaining very close to the skin. The projection is weak, but the lasting is good, taking into account the composition and the EDC concentration. If I had to make a ranking of the three unisex fragrances from the house, I'd say that Fresh Water is the weakest. Then, this one comes with better durability and, on top of the podium, South Water with great projection and lasting. I will not discuss the scent, because it's a matter of taste and this is very personal.

This is blended so nicely. I don't perceive this as a unisex scent however, it's really quite masculine. It would take one hell of a woman to pull this off!

This doesn’t work for me and I’m not totally sure why. Maybe sea grass is the culprit.

The Tihota of ocean-themed scents imo. So many are similar and came super close but THIS one hits the nail right on the head and delivers everything I want in a unisex pure ocean water scent. Calypso is a clean, mineral, fresh and light-filled aquatic scent. It does not try to break free of previously explored aquatic territory, and will likely smell approachable, familiar, and comforting to most even if aquatic scents are not your preference. One of the reasons I love it is because of all of the things it could have had in it that it thankfully DOES NOT... Though it is a little reminiscent of 90's-style aquatics, there is no calone-ish overripe melon here. I don't get any "sharp men's shower gel bergamot" or anything artificial-smelling that would put this in Axe body spray territory, nor does it smell like seaweed that has been in the sun too long, like some ocean-scents can. It also lacks all of the spices and herbs that make otherwise unisex aquatic scents skew masculine, evoking the Old Spice our grandfathers adored. None of that, just sparkling bubbly and brisk ocean air. Not sweet, not sour or floral, just a peaceful, simple, and cleansing scent that is perfectly balanced from start to finish. No nasty surprises, just the soothing lull-crash-lull of waves.
