Oleander

In Bermuda, there is a time they call Oleander Time, in which all trees of this type bloom and perfume the streets. It is another characteristic flower from the Island, to the point of having gained a postage stamp itself. The Oleander (from the Latin Nerium, can also be called loendro, loandro-of-India, pink Laurel or São Jose flower) is an extremely toxic plant, which can produces white, pink or red flowers. It is said that by eating a whole leaf it can kill a grown man of 80kg. The scent of its flowers is strong, with pollen and slightly powdery aspect. This fragrance has notes of oleander, white iris root, pink water lily, besides musk and hibiscus and a touch of vanilla flower, in the base. It is a perfume of contrasts. Upon reaching the skin is strong, however, conveys an innocent aura. Then, quickly turns into a powdery floral with retro aspect. And that's the way it stayed on my skin, showing a mature facet, like a fragrance that, in my opinion, goes better with older women, who are classic and elegant. I feel many nuances of oleander and iris, as well as a slight touch of hibiscus. Finally, my reading about this fragrance is: an intoxicating perfume for women of timeless spirit.

This one may be categorized as a LUXE perfume from Lili Bermuda! Powdery, warm and even illusory sweet. There is something oily in this scent that can make this perfume too heavy for someone – I suppose it’s the feature of the Oleander’s essential oil. It also has a very distinctive retro fleur of 30’s. So it may suit well those who are into retro style or powdery flower perfumes, or at least Oleander lovers!

Another really floral fragrance by Lili Bermuda. But this one is not the fresh flowery type of scent, but it is a warm floral. I smell Oleander mixed with amber and vanilla predominately. You get a powdery and musky touch from this scent as well. Really nice, rounded and natural. Would be good for a summery night out.

I agree that probably in 1936, this was a masterpiece, but in 2019...for 140$/15 ml, this is in NO WAY a proper scent. Any newbie in perfumery can do this as a test project, oleanders... Not for me

For powder lovers only. I am a sucker for powdery scents, so I knew right away that I would be biased towards Oleander, sniffing it from a cotton-filled glass at Lili Bermuda Perfumery, in St. George Bermuda. Oleander grows everywhere in Bermuda and you can indeed smell its powdery warm almost anise-like scent on the breeze. To me this Oleander fragrance is strongly reminiscent of the actual house which contains the perfumery. It's a very old wooden house that feels intimate, maybe even haunted, and with a pervasive sense of stillness. When you are there visiting, you want to whisper, the wooden floor creaks under your feet, and that hushed feeling in scent form is Oleander. I would call it mature and refined but not dated so much as transportive/peaceful. It's really quite lovely. This Oleander fragrance has many faces. On application, it has a voluminous shimmery powdery aspect, leading one's nose in several different directions. It almost tricks you, wondering, "Will this become an aldehydic lipstick scent? Vintage violet makeup compact and bar soap? Will it be vanillic talc with a hint of rose? A musky freshly bathed skin scent?" The list continues... and it is in fact, a little of all of those things-but not quite. Lovers of Teint de Neige, Apres L'ondee, and Avon Sweet Honesty may find something to love here, though it's not really like any of them, certainly not a dupe of anything out there. The dry down came as somewhat of a surprise, as a slightly flat white floral gardenia-like accord emerged and gained some sharpness. I recognized it from scents like White Shoulders, and the post reformulation version of Ysatis. I wondered what it was doing here as a somewhat bitter white floral finish seemed a little discordant. And yet, I kept coming back to Oleander, and now that I own it, there are days when nothing else will do. If the plant wasn't so poisonous, i would grow it myself to become more familiar with its natural nuances, but for now Oleander the fragrance will more than suffice.

Yes, if your a CA native, you know this plant/flower. They used to line the freeways before they pulled them all out and put fancy brickwork in. We had a couple bushes in my yard growing up and they were so fragrant, a beautiful tropic, plumeria like smell with sweet, powdery overtones, not like baby powder, but a velvety tropical powdery scent, similar to orchid flower. I always found the scent romantic, sweet, and nostalgic for me today. Apparently it's not used in perfumery too often (poisonous maybe?) but I'm on a quest to find a perfume that captures that lovely smell!

When I ordered a package of solifloral fragrances from perfumedcourt.net, this is the representative of the floral note, oleander, which they sent. I suspect it is the predominant note of this perfume. Because I am not familar with the oleander flower, I cannot help you anymore than this. Good luck.

For me it also have a lot of lily, reminds me of it, I like the development of Oleander of my skin, from heady floral to calm and soft classic.

Oh I love this !!! flower. I want this perfume. Love going to the beach and smelling these beautiful flowers.
