Paradise

i'm a huge advocate of wearing fragrance for oneself rather than to just please others, but i won't deny it sure is nice when people fall under your Smell Spell. i picked up lili bermuda's paradise on a trip to bermuda, and wore it today for the first time in public. by 10 a.m. i'd received multiple compliments from strangers, which kinda shocked me ! yes, paradise is beautiful, but it certainly is a scent of its era (late 80s), so i wasn't exactly expecting to turn heads. i get a powdered vanilla and incense, the powderiness suggestive of even older fragrances like youth dew or shalimar, and lending itself to sit particularly brilliantly on the skin or a leather jacket. is it possible to be soft and bold all at once ?! (for those with a complicated love/hate relationship with the note as i do: the vanilla is more of a vanilla tea rather than a candied variety.) lasts ages. as others have stated, it is not exactly a scent i would expect from the name, unless of course YOU are paradise, rather than any place in the outside world........there's a thought.

Evokes some perfumes from 70’s or 80’s in my memory – mother definitely had a perfume with some notes that are the same with some notes that are the same with the notes in Paradise. It’s something like a Heap of dry grasses mixed with something sweet. At first it seems like all the notes are detectable, but after 15 minutes or so I may definitely say that the main notes here are honeysuckle and cedar; incense, vanilla and pomegranate are framing them and do not stand out that much.

I have the vintage Paradis de Bermuda. It is amazing. It competes with all the other spicy vintage scents. I am surprised carnation isn't listed. This is a deep, rich, long-lasting oriental floral. It reminds me of the Krazy Krizias, Cachets, and other similar scents. But this is unique.

The yellow-orangey color of the liquid expresses what is to come. Amid the female creations of the house, this is undoubtedly the most unisex. I dare say that should be marketed as such. Of course, it's important to note that this is a fragrance from the floral family. But the base gives a more shareable air, which surprises positively. In my opinion, it is a floral-woody fragrance, in which the floral part shows the feminine side, while the other suggests the male side we all have, in some way, no matter what genre. In the composition, Paradise brings output notes of mandarin, bergamot, and pomegranate; heart notes of honeysuckle, blue orchid and orange blossom and base notes of incense musk, spices, patchouli, and vanilla. In the beginning, it is kinda blazing, since it has citric nuances and the presence of pomegranate, which gives the fruity and light appearance. Soon after, the flowers dominate, but an almost powdery scent begins to emerge, leading us to the ’80s, with floral-oriental fragrances full of personality. However, this powdery effect is not dated, is smoky, as the sticks we buy and burn. Then, the woods curl up in the creamy vanilla and the fragrance ends its evolution. The personality of the fragrance does not come from today as it was released in 1989, and even suffering updates required by the market, is still very good. Fans of women's fragrances as Dune (Dior) and other unisex as Fleur du Male and Gaultier2 (Gaultier), that go beyond barriers of genre, will enjoy this perfume.

Not quite a review. I pulled an almost full bottle of this out of dark, cool storage for over 20 years, that my daughter gave to me around 1990 (gifted to her but not her "type".) I was wearing it for first time in decades. It never was one of my favorites; similar notes to favorites but a bit heavy for me.... Husband asked me what it was. A few minutes later he was in my closet spraying it on. (A little goes a long way, btw.) He smelled great after it settled a bit. I think Lili Paradis has found a new home.
