Beachy

Lilly Pulitzer’s Beachy isn’t really beachy at all. It’s more of a ‘Summer by the Pool’ than ‘A July Afternoon in Huntington Beach’ fragrance, if I do say so. It successfully evokes the essence of summer in a bottle, probably better than most self-proclaimed summer fragrances. I want winter to be over already so I have been wearing this intermittently for the past few months. I have other Summer fragrances but this one has all the conventional elements that take me instantly to a lounge chair by the pool in 800F weather. The salted watermelon in this is not what you might think. It sounds fruity but it is used interestingly to create a scent of water. It is more of a chlorinated watery scent than an ocean or lake water scent. Strange, I know, but probably more accessible to the wearer since pool sides are more readily available than shorelines. It’s persistent, as it stays throughout the composition, but not overpowering. There is also the sweet, warmed scent of sun-baked skin (due to the salt, amber, and a faint touch of toasted vanilla) and faint suntan lotion (thanks to the tropical flower bouquet). The citrus is barely there but acts as a moderator that keeps the suntan lotion note in check and the water element believable. Beachy has great projection, is long-lasting, and has wonderful sillage, inviting others to join you for drinks by the pool. I would say this is a perfect scent for year-round—perfect for cold weather months while wishing for warmer days and warmer months to welcome the summer sun. It’s well on its way to becoming my signature scent.

She's not dead but, how on EARTH did they stuff Doris Day into this bottle!? This is the epitome of her, most of her IN her movies, and Carmel-by-the-Sea. This isn't OLD or vintage smelling, no no no, don't get me wrong. This is the inner peace, joy, an absolute feeling of everything is perfect in this world of her movies. It's the hazy fluffy golden hair that makes an aura around her "my mommy loves me" smiling face. It's a woman's smell, a mom that is perfect smell, pink silken quilted robes, air that has no pollution. As a matter of fact, in this "world" of Doris, there isn't even a factory to MAKE pollution. I wonder if she'd even LIKE this scent in her real life! But in MY world, it IS her. I love her and what her movies do to me. I love what this scent is and what it does to me. For others not floating on the same cloud as me, I think will still like this a lot. I don't see how they couldn't. It's very feminine, it lasts and seems to renew itself even. Like one review mentioned, it seems to get stronger! The packaging is so pretty, if I were rich, I'd buy several bottle just to decorate with! One in each bathroom, in spare bedrooms for guests, on tables at the pool. This also is a fantasy, I have no pool! But you can see what this scent means to ME. Keep posting, I enjoy reading what others have to say. This is for anyone, at any age, in any world! And know, that if you wear this...I think you smell divine darling!

Just a quick update after I have been using this all summer - please continue to read the remaining review though as it may also be helpful. This perfume has lasting power like I have NEVER seen. I tell you this goes a full 24 hours and then some. I sprayed on a shirt and the next day tossed the top into the laundry and it STILL was going strong. For me loving this fragrance that is a good thing. Whatever this perfumery is using or doing I wish other fragrance makers could take note! I have not read any reviews as to taint my own opinion . I just received my bottle of Beachy and I am quite impressed. I am not familiar with this brand of perfume. I was hoping that Beachy would live up to it's name. A nice summer scent - and guess what? It did! It was love at first sniff for me with beachy. A gorgeous summery scent similar to suntan lotion. After a few hours I can still smell this beautiful scent on my arm. It transformed though into something even nicer. The initial suntan lotion smell has gone leaving a warmer more gorgeous scent. All in all I am in love with this. I hear it can be found for a song at Marshalls - if you find it stock up. As for lasting power Beachy has it. I continue to smell it as the day progresses, oddly the scent becomes stronger or more noticeable. This does not happen often with any other fragrance I own.

Opening is shades of Creed Spring Flower, very soft, clean, and floral, with a peach- tinged jasmine, night blooming white flowers, plus ozonic and salty -- but its genius is avoiding altogether a loud and shrill factor of Spring Flower. When the temperature outside is cooler, Beachy remains a lilting floral-marine, beautiful, delicate, and dries down to a woody-patchouli richness, and produces a surprising depth Spring Flower lacks. The first time I ever applied Beachy I caught the distinctive whiff of carnation/clove, but have since been unable to replicate the note after a week of testing. Perhaps it's because of the rising summer temperatures. As temperatures soared this week, the perfume produced a dry and sugary Baby Powder note that worked well with the woody base but rendered it completely different from the soft white floral marine/carnation it was. And makes me wonder if I understood Beachy at all. A couple of spritzes last eight hours. A morning shower the day after applying will enable you to relive it.

THIS. IS. EXQUISITE. I love all scents inspired by summertime, the beach and the tropics. I was aware of the Lilly Pulitzer fragrances back when they were released but I never sampled them until I received one of Beachy in a recent swap. Now I am in love! It is one of my all time favorites for warm weather. It really smells like summer! I can't even fully describe the scent. It's just a subtly sexy tropical floral with strong emphasis on the tiare. It reminds me of Kate Spade Live Colorfully but stronger and it also reminds me of Estee Bronze Goddess but without the coconut note. I have very dry skin but somehow Beachy manages to leave a noticeable dry-down. I sprayed it on this morning at 9AM and at nearly 6PM I can still smell traces of it. Beachy is just simply delicious and yummy. It is a MUST HAVE for those that enjoy the scent of summer.

This is indeed somewhat beachy but in my opinion, not the beach of a beautiful resort but an untamed shoreline where the waves crash onto the rocks sending spray into the air as you stand on a cliff looking into the vast distance where the sky meets the ocean. Having lived near the ocean most of my life, this scent takes me back to the days of my childhood. I detect the floral notes and a definite salt water vibe, maybe a hint of vanilla. On my skin, it goes through phases, Upon first application, I get the saltiness, then a hint of sweetness and the floral notes. It lasts for hours on my skin. This fragrance is unlike anything else in my collection. I can't say I love it but if you're looking for a different summer scent, it's worth a try.

Love this one! It's really beautiful, though not a typical beach scent. There's not much fruit going on, which is a nice break from the coconut overload you usually find in a summer perfume. Here's what this scent looks like in my brain: You're at the beach early in the morning to walk by the waves and watch the sun rise. You don't need sunscreen yet, and maybe you're still in your comfy cotton pajama set. The air is still fresh and just pleasantly warm, not hot. The breeze lifts your hair as you head back across the sand to your condo for pancakes and a cup of coffee. I definitely get a "comfy" and relaxed vibe from this perfume. Please do give it a chance!!

At first spray I get a heady mix of juiciness and sea water. As it dries down the vanilla seems to warm the scent in a way that takes it from an almost juvenile yet fun perfume to something of more substance. There is a touch of sunscreen to the scent, but not how you would imagine it. All in all this is one of my go to fragrances for summer and it never fails to put a smile on my face.

This definitely is a breezy, beachy smelling perfume. Pure summer in a bottle. Watermelon and sea breeze.....good daytime perfume when the weather is hot and you just want a little something to make you smell good...not overly strong or cloying just breezy and sunny. The bottle is pretty too!

Wow. I feel like I'm wearing a completely different perfume than all of you. I don't get fruit in this at all - no watermelon, no citrus. I get a very salty, somewhat musky (amber I presume) scent that actually dries to a faint patchouli on my skin, but not my clothes. The longevity and silliage are lacking, and I'd be quite upset if I'd paid department store prices for this. I'm an avid beach-scent sampler, and this is WAY different from your usual beach suspects. I'd probably describe this as a more of an English cliff side ocean lookout, cloudy and windy, with waves of salty sea air being tossed in the wind. Not a tropical or playful beach as the theme of the scent suggests. That being said, I do like it. I almost wonder if I'm anosmic to some component of it though, because I feel like I'm missing out on what most of you smell, and its gone from my skin and clothes within an hour.

Clean is how this smells. You feel freshly showered and pretty. I never thought of myself as a "Jasmine lover", but I do like this jasmine based perfume. I didn't like this perfume at first, but it grew on me and I actually want to buy more. I wouldn't wear this when I'm looking to feel sexy, but I would on a typical day. It's fresh and clean, and not overpowering. It lasts a while, throughout probably five hours. Beachy does indeed remind me of the beach. I grew up on the coast of the north Atlantic ocean, and now I live elsewhere, and this scent does bring me back in mind, to a lovely carefree shore. It's not coconutty or anything, which is a good change for a beachy scent.

Lots of frangipani and tiare flowers. Beachy certainly smells beachy. I have Live Colorfully by Kate Spade and this smells almost exactly the same with less longevity. You can sense the salt in here. Watermelon is one of my favorite notes and i,unfortunately,don't get any out of this. If tuberose was added to this it would be more exotic and tropical. Beachy and Live Colorfully,both,used to be some of my ultimate favorites. Nowadays i need a bit of something more going on to consider as a fave. It now remains a like with a 8/10 overall rating from me.

This was my personal favorite fragrance for a while. I like tropical/beachy scents that do not contain coconut and was looking for a superior replacement to Beyond Paradise which I wore religiously during high school 10 years ago. I don't know how else to describe this fragrance other than as the image of Lilly Pulitzer. If the prints had a scent this would be it, and maybe Squeeze. It is not complex, deep, or moody, but it is also not a teenage coconut flower bomb. It is a relaxed but chic non-pretentious beach vacation in a bottle.

Just in case anyone is considering buying this for the ridiculous prices on eBay DON'T! I loved it in the past, but it's not worth much more than the $20 I paid for it at Tjmaxx back in the day. Live Colorfully is much more affordable and the closest dupe I have smelled, and I have smelled a lot in search of a Beachy replacement after it started giving me a headache. I wish Lilly would bring their line of perfumes back into production and improve them. They were nice but just needed to be a bit better for the brand in my opinion.

This is impressively beachy! At first breath I got a bit of coppertoney coconuty vanilla That was immediately overpowered by the tropical florals. Than I actually got the amber and the citrus. The flowers subdued and the amber smelled warm really feeling like flowers warmed in the sun. The saltiness came through. After that the various notes intermittently make their presences known. It's a soft vanilla, no wait it's salty, oh and there's those flowers again! I don't know if beach could be done better!

Beachy is indeed reminiscent of a day at the beach. It is little salty with clean aquatics, and the tiare flower is present in the background, bringing freshness to the notes. The jasmine could be a little quieter, but otherwise, it is a quiet, pleasant floral aquatic. I find the salt and amber combination of the base notes soothing, as the seaside is my favorite get-away spot. It's not an exact approximation of a day at the beach, but it's close enough to lighten the mid-winter blahs.

OMG - this is a pert near spot on dupe of Demeter Kahala Hawaiian Surf (which is also now called Salt Air)! Which I have and testing against right now. totally spot on but the bonus is that Beachy lasts LONGER! Difference is the Frangipani in the dry down. Which is a wee bit typical plumeria/frangipani spice. Likely why some reviewers smell incense. But its very faint. This scent is very airy, watery and yes BEACHY!

I tried this on last night and thought it was very pleasant. I didn't get the fruity notes listed as the opening, it pretty much went right into the tiare and vanilla. It did remind me of beachy fragrances, but also smelled very familiar, though I can't think of what other perfume it reminds me of... I would have bought it if I felt it was more unique smelling.

I layer it with Judith Leiber Exotic Coral and it is summer perfection! A tropical getaway in a bottle... Exotic Coral is the heavier of the two and I spray it first and Beachy goes on top... I have tried both fragrances alone but neither can match the synergy of the combined effect!

Very nice blind buy. I get the BEACHY smell to this. Its like a tropical floral. Smells fresh and clean...not like suntan lotion. Its light and soft...lasts a few hours on me, may last longer with warmer weather. I highly recommend. :)
