Acqua Santa

It is gorgeous. At first, I thought this was going to be an old-fashioned rose perfume, but boy, was I wrong! This is a beautifully blended, exquisite fragrance by master perfumer Maurice Roucel, who also created the unforgettable Envy by Gucci, my 90s favourite. I am genuinely blown away. The opening is all green, flowers and sparkling elegance: cassis, green notes, bergamot and coriander giving it that bright, slightly sharp lift. Then the floral heart comes forward w/lily-of-the-valley, jasmine, ylang-ylang (love!) and a bit of freshly picked (!) roses, and nothing shouts. It feels so very well composed, polished and perfectly balanced. To me, this is a floral bouquet at its best: very feminine, very French, very chic. The base adds softness without weighing it down, with a touch of caramel, musk, tiny bit of cedar giving it warmth and grace. Ladies, get your gowns, gloves and handkerchiefs out, and have a ball!

Wow, now this is an interesting one. So complex although smelling "easy" and light. I would not say it's gourmand, for me personally it's very green, but yes, it is not dry. It's somehow aquatic, but also a bit spicy and woody, with a tad of sweetness. I actually see it on a man rather than on a girly girl. I think that the thing about this perfume is that it's literally everything - sweet, fresh, green, woody, smoky, spicy, and still very harmonious (but how?) It is, in a way, intellectual - you can rethink it and re-experience it with every sniff you make. First you can try to experience it as green (in your head) - you take a sniff and it is green indeed. Now you can try to smell it as a sweet one, and it is. Woody and it is, - strong cedar. And so on. And, what is very important, it smells really good.

This was a total surprise--a blind swap I made recently and wasn't sure I'd love. A most interesting melange of notes, tart and spicy at the start, a lush floral heart, and drying down to caramel and tonka bean. I'm not even sure how to classify this one. A gourmand? Not really, maybe a semi-gourmand. Does it work? Tremendously well. I love it. The nose behind this is Maurice Roucel. If you're a fan of his creations, you must check this out. Sliage is strong and longevity extraordinary. over 12 hours.

This is one delicious fragrance. For me, I associate the scent with mango... Maybe its the combination of the notes that create a mango-ish aroma. This is actually my first Linari, blindbought only based on the review, because I really loved the bottle, and I have no regrets at all since this is a very sophisticated scent. Safe for work too. Amazing longevity and medium silage. Safe for a blind buy, and I really think you won't be disappointed since the scent is everything but regular.

A rather surprising scent. Exceptionally watery for a gourmand, but not in a bad way. Fruity cassis notes, very little florals and a mild caramel note that is definitely sweet but not overpowering. I have a hard time deciding whether this smells a bit artificial or just unusual, but I like it a lot. This scent is something I would somehow relate more to a posh, young woman type of perfume. It's very good but lacks a certain depth, IMHO. Very enjoyable and beautiful, quite unisex.

This is one of the most unique caramel scents I've tried and I'll be needing a full bottle of this. ACQUA SANTA is an elegant, fresh caramel for grown up girls not willing to go around smelling like cupcakes. It has the sweet gourmand quality of many other caramel fragrances, but it is richened with fresh spices making this almost sparkling. ACQUA SANTA is very sweet, but never cloying and all over the place, it would be a very safe work scent for gourmand lovers.

Fresh, sweet, woody, with a beautiful hint of cassis, to balance the whole bottle, but its most noteworthy aspect is the drydown. You can experience very yummy gourmand caramel with floral notes. Omg, I can't stop smelling myself! Such a beautiful production. It's long-lasting on my skin, but the projection is moderate like other green-type fragrances. 9/10!

This is a review based on my first impression about this fragrance, I have to test it a few more times as it is a very complex one! I just tasted it on paper curious about the name Acqua Sata (Holy Water) and got totally surprised. I didn't know it was by Maurice Roucel and Linari it's quite new to the body perfumery industry as they previously did only room fragrances-The opening is simply amazing with a blast of bergamot working in a very special way. It gives you the feeling of real Holy Water and wax, surrounded by flowers sweetness.It's like to be in a church on a wedding day. The drydown is sublime as the scent morphes into a complex mixture of green accords, spices, flowers and musk. Rich and sublime but at the same time gentle and not loud. Rating: 7.5-8/10

Testing this fragrance definitely convinced me that my skin emphases black currant and cassis notes, which I do not like. I just finished with testing Enchanted Forest by Vagabond Prince and the dominant note for my nose was black currant.. . well, there were also fir tree and resins, which combination was beautiful, but the case of Acqua Santa is extreme black currant. For me it’s a smell of black currant jam and it's rather linear. It’s not this jam that you can buy from supermarkets, but it is the home-made jam were you put normally less sugar, the smell is more natural. Actually the smell of black currant leaves(cassis) is more woody, than the berries. For me it doesn't have a smell of caramel and the bergamot adds even more sourness. I wouldn’t classify Acqua Santa as gourmand, it’s fruity or maybe sweet fruity perfume with good longevity.

Linari ACQUA SANTA occupies the same general olfactory space as a couple of Maurice Roucel's creations for Lolita Lempicka: L and CORAL FLOWER. There is a lightness mixed with a sweetness balanced by a kind of saltiness in this composition as well. ACQUA SANTA is less sweet than Roucel's Lolita Lempicka perfumes, and for that reason might appeal more to gents than those made-for-women compositions do. After having worn each of these Linari fragrances on two separate occasions (I mean: two wearings for each), I can confidently say that this one is my favorite. The caramel here is not cloying and claustrophobic as in the Mark Buxton caramel perfume for this house, ANGELO DI FIUME, which I was literally waiting to evaporate--and in keeping with Murphy's Law of longevity, according to which my least favorite fragrances always last the longest, it dragged on for many, many hours. With ACQUA SANTA, in contrast, I feel exactly the opposite, hoping that it will last on and on and on because the caramel is not a thick wall of impenetrable goo. No, it adds an ever-so-slightly gourmand touch to this oddly watery-salty-floriental perfume. If I were to add a Linari to my collection, this would definitely be it.

Fresh, tart, and very familiar to my nose! Trying to think what it's reminding me of so much...I think my mother's last perfume, Notes L'amour, but without the rose. Definitely the cassis in both, sweetned up by various notes. This is a lovely fresh spring scent, very clean, a little citrussy, getting cyclamen. Drydown really smells like fresh mango! A watery gourmand, if there is such a thing.. Quite pleasant, green foliage with water droplets, then sweet caramel. Also, lasted all day which good. The price however.. A$250 is way too much for something that would make a perfectly nice celebrity fragrance for about A$40. I'd pay that much...

Have you ever tried Caramel cologne? Acqua Santa Linari would be it. It is sweet and fresh mix of grass, bergamot and caramel. This juice has linear feel, but it is not, by any means, plain and simple. Very well blended, unique, pretty, sweet, refreshing, summer cologne.

Dill, dill, dill that magically turnes to watery lily of the valley. My chemistry never match watery green "formulas", same happens here. Its a pure, thick, fine perfume otherwise, very unisex.

Rich bouquet of flowers with subtle gourmand notes. I see this for a lovely and elegant middle eastern young girl.

Fresh powdery clean floral. It's pretty, young, likeable. I'm not getting overt gourmand or fruity notes.
