Revolution

I can imagine that somebody hates it. For me this is signature scent for upcoming year – the real revolution. Must try for L’Autre lovers and everybody who likes animal kind of scents. It is deep, full of spices fragrance, very loud and unconventional. I don’t recognize any urine or blood smell but for sure there is something like body odors but very well balanced with spices. When fully developed it is cozy and very warm.

Weird scent that smells much better than the description provided within the packaging. Blood? Not really no. Urine? Well, yes because of the consistent use of civet. Tar? Yes, birch tar galore! Tear Gas? Yes, definitely and that's why I think it's somewhat of a dirtier version of a couple of compositions amongst the CDG Synthetic Series (Garage and Tar). As I said before, civet is very prominent as well as birch-tar but IMO what really adds the challenging power to Revolution are the strong spices (could be a scary blend of cumin and thyme?)... Anyway, it takes ages for Revolution to properly settle down and become enjoyable as the opening is seriously arresting! Once you've passed the initial brutal and kind of claustrophobic blast, the fragrance settles down to a fascinating concoction of spicy and ambery musk. Not for everybody, definitely, but surely one of the most accomplished art+perfume projects. Daring and, in the end, pretty unique. Rating: 8/10

The first two hours of Revolution were unpleasant, to say the least. Bitter or even acrid and slightly sulfurous. The closest approximation I can give is the scent of perfume mixed with the smell of Independence Day fireworks: sparklers, those black smoking "snakes" and other inflammables and combustibles. The aromas are appropriate, given the title of this scent, but this is not how I would like to smell. I wear perfumes that smell pleasant and good. My own defitions of pleasant and good are pretty broad, and I realize all our definitions of pleasant and good are varied, and while it is certainly interesting, Revolution does NOT smell good to me upon first application. A few hours in, it dries down to a pleasant enough amber smell, but it's nothing special at this point and not worth suffering through the top notes. Sillage and longevity are average. This is a unique scent, and I applaud the creators for coming up with something truly unusual, but after a couple attempts with it, I guess they'll have to start the Revolution without me. Definitely for niche-lovers only. This is a scent that must be tried on the skin.
