LiuShen Florida Water 六神花露水

I feel obliged to comment on this old friend of mine. It's green (oui, très vert), and floral as well, featuring mint, borneol, honeysuckle, musk, and some other confidential ingredients. The scent is usually too elusive to be put into precise description. It's definitely unisex, and for all ages. Every Chinese people knows this and every family owns a bottle. The original version is the best. The only drawbacks are that one needs to re-apply frequently and that it may stain clothes. I have an ancient bottle whose mint is completely gone. It now has a completely different characteristic that's freshly sweet and slightly medicinal. 🤔 I think I've just found a peculiar way to use this cologne! It's obviously niche as it's a genre all on its own. But it's also an antonym of niche since it's used by over a billion people. (The undertone is that if one wears this anywhere other than China, it's the most niche-est of all.) Besides, "it smells like Florida water" by a Chinese is a praise, not a shame. It figuratively means "it nice and a bit strong".

This stuff is HARD to get ahold of in the UK! As someone who is very familiar with the more widely spread Florida Water, I really wanted a Chinese version as my family are cantonese. When I FINALLY got my hands on it in a large asian shop, I grabbed a bottle. This fragrance is the definition of chinese baby talc! Powdery, soft, gentle, and leaning feminine. It may also be connotation, but my dad smells "Chinese grandma's home" and I do see my 婆婆 rummaging her bathroom when I smell this aha! I don't personally feel like the mint in this is predominant but depends on person to person! The purpose of this isn't for perfume specifically, but the scent is good enough to use as a weak cologne. Although, it tends to leak when the paper seal is open!

Chinese summer in a bottle, it's a magical concoction sold as mosquito repellent, but is much more than that, is ever so powdery and minty, notes listed in the label are borneol,mint, honeysuckle , and phellodendron bark, it smells classic and definitely niche for non Chinese noses like mine.

for 3-4 usd you get a big bottle, huge proyection solid longevity fresh mint, eucalyptus, sage, thyme, all mosquito repellent notes combined got me a compliment from an Asian baddie with daddy issues, the scent reminded her dad

I got a bottle at a supermarket because I was familiar with Florida Water and found out about this popular Chinese version. I definitely smell the minty florals, but there is also a large powdery (perhaps musk?) aspect to it. Very interesting! It skews more feminine on me than Florida Water, so it will be a nice duo to switch between in the coming summer months.

Cooling, minty, very very herbal, powdery, incense. With musky/soapy dry down I didn't detect any floral/citrus. Smells like a temple/massage parlor. Good for spiritual work / meditation.

I have found this funny cologne into a market for 3 euros at the italian chinatown located in Prato. The comparison I've found here with shalimar make me laugh. But it is not totally wrong. There is a sort of Guerlain presence, but it is more connected with mitsouko or apres l'ondee. Then the link goes to Krasnaya Moskva which share with this cologne a classic Guerlain aura of the begin of the last century. Obviously in a light light way. we can conclude this cologne it is more similar to a generic chinese incense than other mentioned masterpiece. It opens with a blast of menthol and canphor which is good to scare mosquitos and open your pneumons. But after that it is quite pleaseant. Remains on your skin for about half an hour/one hour. Notes written on the translated label: water, menthol, honeysuckle exctract, rose aromas, humectant and hydrolyzed pearl (?!)!

Omg, my mum-in-law gave me a bottle of Florida Water sometime back but by a company called Pretty Smile. I didn't think much of it then. I'm so biased because I suddenly want to get to know this juice better after seeing it here. Ok i've got some on my arms now and it smells..a little powdery, a little floral, a little sweet and spicy and definitely vintage. Does it smell like something an elderly Chinese woman would wear? I think my grandma would have worn this when she was alive, and I don't know of any other elderly Chinese woman who took the trouble to smell good. Yet, this could pass off as an eccentric, niche fragrance.

This is the counterpart of those Brut cologne in China. I bet every family has at least one. Helpful against mosquitoes or prickly heat. Make you fainted and cold as winter (even in dog days) when oversprayed. If you have prickly heat, congratulations! With this, you can experience frozen and burning at the same time thanks to the alcohol and pain. (I guess most children have such miserable experience :( ) The only cons is for those less experienced in fragrance, they always comment:"hmm... this smells like Florida Water".

I have owned this one before. Always available in our local Chinatown area. The scent is very hard to describe, other than a bit of soap, a bit of incense and a little powder. The other Chinese brand that you might see around is by Butterfly. It's definitely sweeter, more like a fougère, heavy on the powder. These two are nothing like the Florida Water from Murray and Lanman. That one is a citrus bomb that is a common childhood memory for people of Hispanic backgrounds.

This is the favourite mosquito repellent and after bite in China. Parents put a few drops of it in bath water for kids before they go outside to play in the summer. It has lots of menthol and smells cooling because of it. Very nostalgic.

Is this not, actually, a mosquito repellent. I am certain that this is the very thing that everyone here in China uses as such. Smells nice, soothes mosquito bites too....after stinging like b....ery for five minutes

Elizabeth Taylor’s White Diamonds (at least during initial spray and on paper) smells exactly like this. I’m baffled at how no one has made a connection.

Herbal and spicy at the same time. I did test the mosquito repellant quality of this perfume. Somehow it did work.
