Botanical Essence No. 9

This reminds me a bit of Yves Saint Laurent Elle, but fruitier...similar feel & structure (fresh/patchouli). Really, I just wanted to say what a great realistic fruity/blackcurrant note this scent has. I think they got it just right because it's juicy sweet/sour & tart, without verging into "fruit syrup" or pungent "cat pee" territory. It has really captured the pitch & tang of the real thing, I think. I like this for Autumn & almost used up the entire bottle last year. It's less sweet & quite distinctive & different from the popular sugary/fruity/patchouli combos. It's a nicely done perfume with some character, if you'd like an autumnal berry patchouli. I will probably re-buy this, too. Edit to add: For a perfume that has "over 90% derived from natural ingredients" it is surprisingly rich/strong - no chemical fug here, & nothing wishy-washy about this one either. The more I wear it, the more I like it. Liz Earle perfumes are pretty good, & underrated, imo.

I really love this, but for special occasions only because it is a very grown up, bold, stand out fragrance. On first application this is SO strong! The blackcurrant top note is very in your face, and the combination of the others reminds me of aniseed, but there is none present. A plus (for me) is that this bit tones down pretty fast .. but only to a milder version of the same scent initially, which is perfect! As it dries down over time all the other notes come through. Hours later the scent is warm, rounded, not too sweet, and super inviting. It is worth mentioning that the blackcurrant remains a focal feature throughout the entire perfume life cycle, so if you are a blackcurrant fan this one could really work for you.

Not something I reach for often. Every time I wear it, it feels like there is something missing in the middle of it - and I am looking for the rose note, but never find it. So I sometimes add in a purer rose layer over the top which balances it out nicely.

don't love this, don't hate it... wear it sometimes! maybe it's just not right for me! kind of strong but not in a good way. it's sweet and gets a bit of juiciness but also muskiness

This is the only Liz Earle fragrance I don't have a bottle of. When I tested it in Boots it smelled like cough medicine on me. I wondered whether I was being influenced by the drugstore environment and many, many bottles of Benylin on show, but sadly not.

I loved this. Still do actually. I keep her in my perfume cooler and I bring her out and wear her in winter. She is a belter. I’m a sucker for cassis. The combination of cassis, vanilla, vetivert and patchouli with the bold citrus opening intoxicates me. I am reminded strangely - as there is no vanilla in it of Glossier You Reve which I am wearing now. Not sure why? The thing is, aroma chemicals can play tricks on your brain. You Reve is nothing compared to this fragrance.
