Eau des 4 Voleurs

The original was one of my all-time favorite scents. I was gutted when the original was discontinued but not quite willing to pay the hundreds of dollars on Ebay for a vintage bottle. I just got my hands on the new reissue and... It's good. but I don't think it's the same though, and the text on the poster in the store hinted as such ("...inspired by the 1991 product..") Something's different compared to my memory of the original - not as pine-y? Not the same peppery opening? The juniper seems to be gone... Something psychological about it not coming from that brown bottle...? I can't put my finger on it but something's not what it was. Then again, maybe I'm like all those other people on the site complaining the reissue of their favorite scent is different. Maybe the problem is with our memories, not the product. I appreciate that L'Occitane released this again. The bottle is a little too small and a little too expensive but I'm happy to have it back, even if it's not 100 percent. It's close enough.

Keywords that come to my mind when I wear this perfume: elegant warm herbal oregano/pine(ish) lavender comforting hiking gardening adventure clear water houseplant vibe of Life Spring Sprouts under the snow Hope in Melancholy branches that have seen the light a bit of citrus (not the toilet cleaner one) ------------------- I have it, I have tried it, I am definetely pleased with it. Elegant but warm, herbal, unisex, oregano is there! but in a good not overwhelming way. If you give a try to this perfume, you won ́t smell like a pizza restaurant, don ́t worry. :)

Very interesting in many phases of development. It opens with the unique accord of the medical plants. Just in 10 minutes it turns warmer and woody on my skin, while on the skin of my man a green note starts dominating. It develops a bit too fast and unfortunately stays very close to the skin:( I would love to have stronger version with far more better sillage. Very good bouquet.

A nice, old school combination of tart Bergamot, green accords (Petitgrain, Pine), aromatic notes (Oregano, Lavender, Oakmoss) and Clove, over a Patchouli/Woods base. It's masculine, with moderate sillage and longevity, so spray it right before putting on your shirt. Not linear, despite its simplicity, office-safe, and great for Spring and Summer.

To my nose, it is not remotely similar to the original. This is not merely nostalgia: over the years, I have continued to pick up vintage bottles of the original Ed4V on ebay, and still have a view drops left. Quite, quite different:I lack the expert jargon not define the difference but it is not as light or delicate, more traditionally masculine, and - for me - utterly lacking in charisma.
