Glycine

I was honestly surprised to find the negative reviews on this perfume. I received a free sample from the brand with a purchase and I absolutely adore it. It's citrusy, but not in an overly clean or screechy way. I've never tried wisteria in a perfume before, and this is a beautiful introduction to the note for me. It's soft and ethereal with a gentle spicy nuance. I've already gotten so many compliments while wearing it. I definitely plan on buying a full size! Edit: Bee magnet! Wear with caution.

just like many l'occitane fragrances, this perfume also has a very gentle feel. it makes me think of 5am on a nice spring-summer day, maybe april or may, when the sky is starting to brighten up, and the birds start singing their morning songs, and the air smells fresh and the world is yours. i wore it everyday last year and definitely recommend :))

Very subtle and natural, excellent for work.

I definitely like this perfume. I do however find it a little similar to some scents I own. Perhaps it is a fusion of Eclat d’Arpège and Drop d'Issey Essentielle coming together to make a mildly aquatic wisteria, tinted with lilac scent. This regularly sells out first when the line goes on sale (the whole Rare & Forgotten Flowers is on sale, and only Glycine is sold out) because it is very crowd pleasing and easy to like. I can't stress how much I like but don't love this one. I could see anyone who likes gently aquatic florals embrace this entirely. Unfortunately, I couldn't stretch for this when Barbotine and especially Mélilot are so entirely unique and enraptured me.

Quite a delicate scent, to me it smells of flowers and green wet leaves. It doesn't last long, at least on my skin it was around 2 hours until I could only smell it if I brought my wrist straight to my nose. To me it feels like something exactly in between Granado's Infusão Botânica and Flora Magnifica, but at least here it is quite more expansive than them, and I think they last more, too. I'd recommend checking these out if you like Glycine and want to try something new, or if you want to know what Glycine might smell like.

Got a sniff of this at my most recent visit to L'Occitane. It's very pretty (and I just love the bottle and cap..) but yes, I agree with the review below me that there is something very high pitched here. In fact, that was the first adjective that came into my mind when I smelled this. I didn't try this on my skin so I'm not sure if I get any synthetic accords but I didn't smell anything like that on paper at least. Next visit I might try a skin test.

oh i adore glycine—she is a delicate balance of wisteria and musk that is so sheer and bright it's almost synthetic. only a tiny bit, enough to give her a bit more depth than other l'occitane fragrances. i would describe glycine as powdery, but not at all aged or uncanny. imagine a clever girl who has exceptional style, living with her grandmother—her greatest role model who tells her stories of dancing under a wisteria archway in her youth. i found better performance from glycine than l'occitane's typical lineup. lasted six hours with a nice trail my coworkers loved, and the drydown is thick, ricelike musky heaven.

This starts out with a lovely citrussy floral - I love wisteria so I was excited, but man... I feel like L'Occitane have jumped on the modern aroma chemical train because this turns SO screechy to me! Like super high pitched in a way that suggests it's full of ambroxan. I agree with the votes in that it's a mild lime, freesia and then supported by the wisteria, but for me it's unwearable :(

NEW PACKAGING Just giving everyone a heads up - on October 1, 2025, L'Occitane globally relaunched this scent in new bottle as part of their reimagined and minimalist "Flora Orchestra" collection. The formula of the fragrance has not changed. This scent will be discontinued in late 2026. Hope this helps!

I tried this when I was wearing Elixir Gourmand Coquin by Guerlain. Next to that, it paled into insignificance. Perhaps it was not a fair test but it seemed to me a pretty generic flowery perfume with little character. Shame. I loved the others in this line.

To me, this really smells like being in a wisteria arbour. I don't find the fragrance at all overly synthetic. It's subtle, yet quite long lasting and perfect for springtime day wear.

Smells a bit dated because it’s similar to Elizabeth Arden Sunflowers from the 90’s. Been there done that.
