L'Occitan Eau de Toilette

Greetings, I have purchased a bottle of Loccitaine Loccitaine man in August 2018 Oslo Airport. Initially I wanted to buy another parfum called Baux because I feel in love with a shower gel (which was a present from a friend). But when I tried this one I had to get back to the store to buy the blue label. First of all its an amazing scent. I had lavender and pepper parfumes before, but always dreamt of a combination that could work well. It is fresh, clean, but at the same time it warms up and gets a bit sweet and dry. The pepper note works amazing with the lavender. It frames it an almost medditeranean vibe, yet it feels fantastic. I feel like I am walking in a field of flowers somewhere in the south. Tonka gives it a beet of Sweetness and usually works very well with lavender. But it is not an a really a sweet taste, it a perfect blend of freshness, Sweetness but the peppery note adds it the manliness it needs. The quality of ingredients is top notch. It may not be the powerhouse but it does not give a headache and I cannot help but spray it sometimes on my wrist and chest just to feel cozy and warm. Longevity and Projection is medium, however longevity is leaning towards heavy on my skin and clothes. In total I give it 9/10 the only drawback I see that it faints away a lot after a few hours and cannot compete with synthetic or semi synthetic parfumes in terms of projection/strength, however this is not why it is made, it is not meant to be overpowering most probably. This parfume is made to provide person with warmth, confidence, relaxation and good mood. At this moment it is becoming Nr 2 in my collection and may become my signature for the overall positivity I get from it. It's amazing you must try it. It stands light years ahead from most synthetic powerhouses in terms of quality of ingredients. Give it a try, it's special.

Not nearly as abrasive or (overwhelmingly) lavendery as I expected, although there is a slightly medicinal aspect to the opening, among others. I don't find that the fragrance smells old-fashioned in any grannyish way either. It's not powdery, cloying, piercing, or heavy. I don't find it very soapy. What I get is more a kind of gentle, cooling ambience, with a smoky, fat, semi-rubbery facet, and a little zingy or zesty definition up top. In connection with the rubbery, resinous part, the burnt-wood accord that people mention is in there somewhere too, later on, with the combination of the burnt part and, probably, the sweetness from the top notes vaguely reminding me of some kind of toffee or caramel, though only very close up. In the opening at least, this all smells better in the air than close up. I don't think that it smells artificial either way, but close up it perhaps smells a little busy or unbalanced, with something or other coming off a little dirty or animalic somehow. It possibly smells a bit like a cross between sherbety lavender and a pair of suede trainers, rubber soles and all. It may also smell a little like pouring in the washing powder for a machine load of greasy, smoky clothes after a three-day music festival. I like it but it is unusual, though not imposing. The fragrance soon settles anyway, not that it lacks longevity. Actually the bulk of it lasts for many hours on my skin, with some of the ambience still there throughout. Autumn, spring, maybe winter, mostly days.

This is a beautiful fragrance. I love this. Smells so fresh and still packs a decent punch thanks to the pepper. It smells clean, warm and inviting. Not offensive at all. I always have been a sucker for lavenderscents and this one is up there with the best, i think. It is a nice blend of lavender and black pepper with a hint of wood. Opens up and stays pretty much linear throughout the time. Very nicely done. +Price is good it's affordable and the 100 ml bottle lasts pretty long. +Longity is good i get atleast 6 hours. +Sillage is ok, it does go to skinsmell after like 2 hours so not great but then just add a few extra sprays on clothes and it will better itself. For me this works all year around at every occasion except maybe clubbing as this little gem would probably be bullied by all the loud smells in there. Perhaps it shines the most in the fall but only slightly, this could work all seasons in my opinion. This is one of my most used as it is so versitile and i just love how it smells on me. Ladies like this too, which ofcourse is a plus. To me it has the perfect combination of clean/fresh, romance and comfort. Feel good smell that i will always have in my collection.

i wanted more lavender, it doesnt last all that long, & im not sure the $50 i paid for a 2.5 oz would be worth the cost to many people. theres lots of similar style stuff out there for cheaper. however, its really nice & if i found my bottle empty id get another for a few reasons. for one, while it has the cold weather vibe i tend to prefer it is genuinely all year round acceptable. i experience negative degree weather in winter to over 90f humid weather in summer & am not speaking out of my ass from a temperate environment. its greatly versatile i feel fine in any weather, day, night, indoor, outdoor, its great. second, ive realized recently the thing it had been tugging at my mind reminding me of since first wear is is that it smells inexplicably reminiscent of a lotion my mom used for many years & has a positive familiar association to it. the bottle is simple but i like it, (wish it were bigger) its very nice and the simple cap & narrowness make it very travelable. slip it in a pocket of your bag & take it with you, no problem. attractive & ergonomic like the smell.

An under-rated, good quality and great value spicy fougere scent. L'Occitane EdT opens with a smooth lavender and a mix of dried spice, with pepper being dominant, sparkling & popping atop the calming waves of lavender. Nutmeg is prominent to my nose as well, surfacing in the early minutes on my skin. Other spices are sprinkled lightly, and doesn't distract from the overall presentation of a contrast between pepper and lavender. A fougere accord without heavy coumarin/tonka scaffolds this scent. All in all, a very natural and clean scent. Understated but beautiful, classic but not dated. Elegant in the way that a vintage car might catch the eye of a collector. This is a morning scent for temperate days. Performance and durability are average. The scent disappeared from my skin after 3 hours. Highly recommended. A spicy fougere of very high quality and appeal at very reasonable pricing, especially with membership discounts at L'Occitane. If you are chasing a great lavender or black pepper scent, this one is almost a blind buy.

Might be a new favorite. I've got the deodorant, body wash and the fragrance. This is easily a unisex fragrance. I'm 32 female, not overtly feminine. My absolute favorite scent is pure grace by philosophy. Which, has lavender and musk. Though here the lavender is refined in the best way possible. Not synthetic the way most lavenders can turn. I agree with the other review mentioning pink peppercorn instead of smelling of black pepper. It almost reminds me of Molton brown fiery pink pepper body wash. Fresh and spicy. Also similar to Molton Brown coco & sandalwood body wash. I don't get any burnt wood. No smoke. No char. But lots of tonka bean. Which is ever so slightly creamy and almond, like marzipan. Or maybe like shea butter. "So pink" from the gap also comes to memory, sort of. Lovely scent. I can see this being very nice for fall/winter. Worried about the summer though, i can see it turning into sweaty nasty BO, because of the lavender. But for right now; I'm in love.

I purchased this from duty free in Marseille Airport. I have to say, the quality is so much more superior than what I found in my country (I live in Eastern Europe). I actually expected it to be better bought straight from the source (it's produced in Provence). With that being said, the smell lingers quite long on the clothes. It's the type of fragrance that needs to be reapplied every few hours since it's so "natural" smelling, but not as weak as one might expect. I am obsessed with the smell. The sweetness of the lavender awakens something in me...it's so refreshing and calming. The pepper note and nutmeg add the perfect spicy edge to this. I find the entire composition incredibly refined and bohemian. So simple, yet sophisticated. Very versatile, I especially like it on chilly nights. In a way, it almost reminds be a bit of YSL La Nuit De l'Homme.

Magical. Opens with a big blast of black pepper that some may not like. This fades pretty quickly and the lavender takes over bringing serenity and comfort. The black pepper remains in the background and has a effervescent uplifting effect. Unlike a lot of other lavender scents this one smells quite naturally which seems to be common amongst L'Occitane fragrances. There's some slight sweetness and spices that bring some interest and depth. Projection is okay for the first 2 hours and then it becomes a skin scent. I recommend spraying in on clothing as this boosts longevity and can easily make it last 8 hours. this is the perfect office scent as it doesn't choke you out with harshness or loud projection. It just sits in the background bring calm and serenity. Inhale deeply and catch the spices, wood and sweetness for an uplifting of mood.

it's hard to explain what i mean but i generally prefer perfumes that don't feel like perfume exactly. this one certainly fits the bill. amazingly fresh and natural smelling lavender that lasts a long time. the black pepper is equally as prominent I'd say and will largely determine if you like this or not. the spice other notes are barley there, but it becomes slightly sweeter and slightly musky the longer it sits. not a terribly complex scent, but the few notes present have plenty of depth and vibrancy to themselves. you don't need to spray a lot but at the same time i think this would be hard to over spray as theres nothing real assertive here. also as side note this bottle has the Best sprayer like seriously! very responsive to touch and everything comes out in an even mist.

This has been my signature scent for more than a decade. I've dabbled in L'Occitane's other men's fragrances. I like the warming spice of first Eau De Badian and now Eau De Baux, but as much as I like them they aren't really me. L'Occitan is. It doesn't smell like "men's cologne" ie the men's fragrance counter in every department store. It's more natural and the three main notes are all distinguishable - black pepper, lavender, and burnt wood. It's longevity and sillage is less than Baux but I prefer that. If only they'd quit jacking up the price - it was $50-53 for 3.4oz for a long time but has risen steadily for the past three years - now at $80 for 2.4oz (and perhaps a bit weaker too). It's got me looking for something new but make no mistake, this is my first best always.

I'm convinced that no one does lavender better than L'Occitane. Just sublime lavender and gentle spices. It reminded me a bit of 1725 or a non-buttery Lavandes Trianon, though this one is fresher than both. Would smell great on everyone, but in general a slightly sweet, fresh, classic man's fougere. I was going to full bottle BdJ for a fougere (I'm a woman who likes this accord sometimes), but this one is better to me (and there are still some more on my list to try). The spices make it more intriguing without weighing it down. It gives a nice (not too aggressive) cloud for at least 6 hours and there are some good deals to be found on the discount sites, so more than worth it for the quality, imho.

L'Occitan is lavender and pepper, pepper and lavender, lavender, then pepper...I do get the woodsy notes, the tonka, the spices, but if lavender isn't your thing, this might not be for you. Typically, I think of lavender and pepper as strong or sharp. But after drying for a couple of minutes, L'Occitan has a super soft and luxurious quality about it. The longer it wears, the softer it gets, but it lasts and projects really well. I cannot think of a time or place that would make this fragrance inappropriate. It is fresh enough to wear when it is warm, but right now during the fall, L'Occitan is perfect for the chilly weather. It is like wearing a warm, plush sweater against the skin. Good stuff.

Such a good quality, dry, understated yet satisfying well blended masculine take on Lavender and the only night-time Lavender scent I will wear from now on. Mild sillage with moderate longevity. But who cares, I wear it at home all for myself. It's soothing, calming, simplistic and a wonderfully natural earthy woody Lavender. I like to spritz myself with this generously after a shower at night or before bed. Sometimes even for stress relief! This and Eau Des Bauvx from L'Occitane are so French in my mind. ****4 out of 5***** stars. PS - Wish L'Occitane made a dry stick deodorant to accompany this just like Eau Des Bavx.

My boyfriend picked the after shave version of this and I love it so much on him and he does too. Definitely going to get the cologne for him as a Christmas gift. Ladies this smells sooooo good on men but I even think it could be layered with feminine perfumes for a unique scent for woman. The best way to describe this is lavender and pepper, not synthetic or cheap smelling, and the dry down is a smooth version of the initial application, a smooth and soft lavender/pepper that would smell good on a woman or man. Personally I would like to experiment and pair this with a vanilla perfume to give it a more deep smell.

I just looooove this fragrance! I get a lot of lavender and the burnt wood accord (and it's glorious) with some pepper and a little musk. This is my first l'Occitane and it certainly is a great scent. It's manly, clean, and woody with a twist that keeps it apart from most lavender based fragrances however, there's a downside and it's the performance. I've worn it twice and it doesn't get to the 5th hour. Considering other people's score I expected more but I get +4 hours and that's it... gone. I may start applying heavier or carrying a pocket atomizer cause it just smells great and not synthetic at all

I think they have changed the formula... again. I just bought it again (in Europe), but the scent isn't the same. It is kind of watered down. Much more powdery, less lavender and definitely much less nutmeg and pepper. I loved this perfume before, it lasted all day long and had descent sillage,.but now it is like something trendy lavender girly perfume with a touch of coolness, a kind of metallic scent. It is usable after a long day, after shower or when someone wants to take a calm walk around the park, but that original peppery, nutmegy, lavender goodness is unfortunately gone. At least in Europe.

L'Occitan is one of the greatest lavender fragrances I've ever come across: if you're a lavender fan of any gender, you have to check this out. There's black pepper and nutmeg in this, and some woods, and musk to finish it, but lavender is absolutely the dominant note. (I've read elsewhere that there are two different kinds of lavender in the top and the heart) It's not only especially mellow (as all lavender-heavy fragrances are) but oddly cooling: I wore it today on a very hot day at the end of summer, and it was the perfect thing to wear.

I tried this on a paper strip, and it smelled EXACTLY like Prada Luna Rossa! Then later on I tried it on my skin, and I got confused because the scent was a lot warmer than it was on the paper strip. It ressembled Eau des Baux (also by L'Occitane En Provence) more now. And then once it dried down, it basically became a mix of both to me. So take Eau des Baux, remove the vanilla and incense to replace it with lavender, and that's pretty much what it smells like to me. The tonka bean and woodsy notes are still discernable.

I agree with Darksome, this is a real beauty next to Eau de Baux. The L'Occitane colognes for men all seem to draw from centuries-old classic blends, tried and true. This has peppery-spice mid-notes and a woody base similar to Baux, but with a gorgeously refreshing lavender topper. The top-quality lavender note asserts itself very strongly, but doesn't overtake the scent. My man started wearing this recently; he has an old-world chivalrous sensibility and a refined masculine nature, so this fougere suits him perfectly.

Very nice all around barber shop style fragrance. Nice lavender, nutmeg and woodsy notes, and i even get some menthol on the dry down. The performance and projection are not great but good, it lasts a fair amount of time when sprayed over a shirt or some kind of fabric. I would like if the pepper notes were more pronounced during the dry down. Sprayed this the other day on a shirt and went on to a bar to smoke a Patargas cigar and the reminiscent smell was great. Very masculine scent, my wife loves it.
