Mimosa de l'Esterel

i had zero expectation when i picked up a bottle of this perfume at the L'Occitane store...and wow..it blew me away! Its so beautiful and feminine, so soft and innocent , yet so UNIQUE at the same time. The first thing that came to mind when i smelled this perfume is a very soft..and i mean very SOFT sweet nectarine scent..followed by beautiful florals. I've never smelt a real mimosa flower but damn this is one beautiful scent! Like other reviewers said, it is a very happy, sunny and cheerful perfume. Also what finally drew me to purchase this perfume is that this scent has that innocence which reminded me of the scent of my 2 year old baby cousin! It has got that delicious baby scent! =D My boyfriend also loved it on me =) he doesn't like the typical sweet girly scents that dominates the market nowadays, but he likes this one because its unique and beautiful at the same time. This scent will definitely be my next signature scent. This is my favorite among the L'Occitane Voyage en Mediterranee line. I bought the 7.5 ml eau de parfum to try it out first...(p.s. the L'Occitane store in downtown Vancouver has the 7.5 ml bottles on sale for $9.80!!) and after I finish the tiny bottle I wish to buy the bigger bottle. Oh and I dont know if anybody else noticed...if u look at the bottle from the top, (look straight down) u will notice that it is made to look like a compass!

This perfume gave me the most unexpected trip down Memory Lane. I sprayed this EDP in the store, not even remembering mimosa had any smell. My thought was, basically, "mimosa has no smell -- what did they come up with?" At first, I got something very bland. Sweetened water smell, and only lightly sweetened, at that. Then immediately it developed into something that I described to myself as very light floral. The SA in the store was reminded of violet candy her parents were bringing her from Spain (glad to see that violet leaf in the top notes!). And in about 10 minutes I smelled my wrist again, and I was swept away by memories. The first days of March in the country of my childhood, yellow mimosa flowers everywhere, streets filled with the clear scent of melting snow and ice mingled with the smell of mimosa... gifts for girls and shorter hours for businesses and schools... Yes, this perfume does smell like a real mimosa flower, and it brought back to me the memories associated with it. What a perfect perfume to celebrate the beginning of the Spring. I'm sure it will be great for a Summer as well, even a hot Summer, since the smell is very fresh and light. But for me it's not just a Spring scent -- it's the scent of the Spring itself.

I just love this perfume line in general. The Mimosa is soooo beautiful, uplifting and easy like a nice warm summer day by the ocean. I can see the blue sea. It generally makes me feel very happy. It's a very natural smell, which is awesome and suits my tastes. I still have my first bottle when the line was released and today it has not gone rancid and it's depth and complexity has matured very well. And that is great since I can no longer buy it on a sale price of $26.99.....ha.....maybe for $269 for a used bottle on Ebay. Who ever the perfumer/s were on this line was genius in my book.

What you call mimosa must be what we call wattle in Australia. Because this is just like plunging your nose into a spray of wattle. It's heady. It fizzes sunshine and honey and well, wattle flower. Perfectly captured. Gorgeous. Unique. Doesn't smell like anything else. Only wattle. Or mimosa, I guess. A treasured gift. I love it. The girl at the L'Occitane shop in Newcastle told me it was discontinued :(

I love this one. I wasn't going to get it, but the SA at l'Occitane sprayed my bag with it and it was love at first whiff. They didn't have one for me to buy, but the SA gave me the bottle she was spraying my bag with, it had 3/4 of an inch of juice left in it. Love it. Perfect for grey days and summer days. And so far strong and lasting and very floral.

If the golden sun had a smell, it would be Mimosa de L'Esterel by L'Occitane. I was taking a leisurely walk down Yonge street and an ad for a different perfume caught my attention when I walked into the L'Occitane store but the SA took a look at me and said "No. I have something that would suit you better" and then she spritz this sunshine on my skin! AH-mazing!! I felt impregnated by the sun and was instantly comfy and joyous. I bought it on the spot! It is a beautiful dry fragrance of seamlessly blended mimosa, bitter almonds and violet leaf. The mimosa shines all the way through with the violet leaf and almonds offering fragile support to the flower. You can't pick them out but you know they are in there because of the qualities they lend to the mimosa. I have since sampled other mimosa scents including L'Artisan's (weak, powdery and sweet) but none are as brazenly raw and vivid as L'Occitane's gorgeous gem! I usually steal my mom's scents. This Mimosa is the first perfume I have gotten for myself with no connection to those my mom has and that is saying a lot! No surprise, I have nothing else that smells like it! I do believe my mother would love this scent but too bad it has been discontinued.

I’m at the disadvantage of not knowing how mimosa is supposed to smell so cannot vouch for authenticity in that respect. However, encouraged by the positive reviews here and having found L’Occitane fragrances to be pleasing generally, I purchased a bottle from an online L’Occitane seller. I find that I get the strongest blast of scent from a spray rather than a pour out or solid fragrance and this being a pour out eau de parfum, my first reaction was to add more to my wrist as the scent was very subtle. Following a few more dabs I got a lovely blast of violet leaves and yes, after a short while, a gentle woody waft of almonds lingered in the background (two notes of which I am very fond). This is a soft, gentle and feminine green floral that will probably neither offend nor delight but one which I shall definitely enjoy wearing. It is just as well that at 7.5ml it is handbag-sized because by the time I’ve finished writing this review I think I need to reapply. Fans of this should check out Geo F. Trumper’s Ajaccio Violets which, I would say, is similar but with a little more staying power (great on ladies, even though it’s intended for men!).

A really interesting scent. Delicate and sunny, lightly sweet and cozy. I haven't smelled real mimosa flowers, so I don't know how this compares. But I do know it is unlike any other perfume I've smelled yet. I get some greenish notes (from the violet leaf, I assume) and a soft, gentle floral scent. I don't pick up any almond, but perhaps some woody notes. The downside is the lasting power is VERY poor for me. The drydown arrives fast (within half an hour) and by then there is almost no scent left at all - I have to press my nose right up to my skin to notice anything. An hour or so after applying the fragrance, there is no scent left whatsoever. Because of that, I don't think I would ever consider buying Mimosa de L'Esterel. It's too bad because the scent itself is very nice. Some have mentioned this has good staying power, but there's no doubt that it absolutely disappears with lightning speed on my dry skin. My advice would be to test this one out before buying.

A light scent that gives carefree "sunny" memories that go together with a vacation at a tropical resort....mmmm, yum! (It is transporting similiar to some Comptoir Sud perfumes.) The mimosa is lovely, delicate and loyal for about two hours (on me). It gives a happy boost from the first spritz. Not long lasting but very pleasant. No sillage, so re-apply prn. Nice travel sizes. Also a note on: Voyage en Mediterranee Jasmin D'Egypte. Reminds me of vintage Patou "JOY". Yes, really and at less than half the price! But not long lasting and no sillage like the GREAT ONE. No matter, re-apply prn. P.S. Not on the forum listing. Don't know why not but glad to have found it, along-the-way.

A very true Mimosa smell . warm sunny . comforting. like a day in the sun . radiant and beautiful.. This is the most true perfume to mimosa i ever smelled I must say i thought this would be a little more cooling .. i have only smelled the -mimosa in Champs Elysesse, and Bvlgari pour femme and such . This are more cooling and more my type off scent.. I like this but i think it is to warm in away for me . Maybe it is about the cold climat aswell. i dont know. But i feal this is better suited in a warmer country .. I am a bit sad about it , but this have to go for swapps

No one could fault this for staying power - it just keeps going and going - I have a tester card in my car that is weeks old and is still scenting the air. When I tried it on my skin it has the same power, almost a day later and I can still smell it. When it first comes out of the bottle I find it glorious, but the unending sweet mimosa becomes head-ache inducing for me. It is probably not the fault of the product, bu rather that it is too sweet for my brain to adjust to for hours at a time. If you love mimosa without-end you should definitely go for this.

I love it! The bottle is as yellow, bright and happy as the scent. It's actually anti-depressant in a bottle. Lifts your spirits totally! It smells of the best careless summer-days, happiness and total joy. I've never had this 'happy'-thing-psychological experience with a perfume before. It's very potent in every way. I really love it. This isn't your ordinary floral fruity perfume, it's amazing. I Love love love it :) :) :)

I bought this when it was on sale (and now discontinued, it seems!) from the L'Occitane website because I've never had a mimosa perfume before. I love this! It's beautifully fragrant, unique and reminds me of something in the springtime. If you're looking for something quite different than the typical floral arrangement, this is a good bet. Good luck finding it now, though!

This is the smell of a REAL Mimosa flower. Pure and simple. One of the two best mimosas on the market. The other one is L'Artisan's.

A very nice floral that is different from the rest. The scent is strong and natural without being too heavy. I can certainly smell the almond in the base. If you like that sort of thing, you should look into Tunisian Jasmine by Pacifica. This fragrance evokes a sunny and warm feeling, lots of yellow (mimosa), and happiness.

Oh, this is so flowery and summery, it just evokes sunshine and happiness, like a carefree child that plays in a field of flowers, green grass, and has nothing to worry about. All I can smell in it, really, it's mimosa, seriously, my nose doesn't detect any other notes; to me, it's a wonderfully done soliflore. It's fairly strong too, with average lasting power, but at no point it leaves the impression of "perfume". Rather than that, it just creates that floral aura that will follow you everywhere, like a delicate cloud of nectar. This gives the same feeling as Champs Elysee. The bottle is similar to the Notre Flore collection, very lovely, and this, along with the Jasmin, are by far my favorites. I wish L'occitane's edts had this quality, but sadly they don't; seems that they save the best ingredients for the edps; oh well. Bottom point: recommended only to floral lovers!

Delicious! I like the smell of all L'Occitane's perfumes, so natural and simple, but I never loved the way they smelled on me - like they were lacking some depth and spirit. This is an exception! I've never smelled a real mimosa flower, but this perfume is amazing. So sensual, relaxing, happy, sunny ... It's sweet but not too sweet and not too almondy (I don't like almonds) and it has a touch of green, very natural. It would be great to wear this on summer evening - for a walk by the sea - when you don't need/want to be sexy or seducing, just feel good in your own skin ... Lovely bottle and packaging :)

Mimosa de L`Esterel is beautiful floral for spring time. It does smell like mimosa flowers; sunny, pleasant and a bit sweet. Violet leafs have given touch of bitterness and woodsy tone to it, making this scent more natural and three dimensional. The saying less is more, is proofed with Mimosa de LEsterel. This is light, good quality and reasonable lasting perfume. Voyage with Mimosa de L`Esterel is certainly worth taking a ride. P.S. In choosing summer mimosa perfume I would give advantage to Summer by Kenzo.

I just bought this. It confirms my stupidity tho because I bought it blind and for over two times the original price! Smdh. I love the line but this is just bringing out all green on my skin. I know 100% that islets my skin, not the perfume. It isn't sweet on me at all. I'm so sad. If anyone is interested in my bottle, it was delivered to me totally unopened and brand new. It is now missing just three or four sprays. I'm open to trading and would love to try the Guerlain Tiare Mimosa instead!

Mimosa by L'Occitane reminds me of Marc Jacobs Daisy, and beeswax candle floating in mimosa essence. It has a sweet citrus Dzing to it, coupled with fresh, tarte and crsip violet leaves. At the same time, it is balmy and waxy - candle wax. It is certainly very likable, but possesses the duality of being sunny and reserved at the same time. It is not "nature-smelling" or unique. Mimosa de L'Esterel is politely radiant, with a subtle sillage. Like a well mannered lady with a passionate heart.
