Osmanthus

to begin this review i just want to say that i have stopped impulsively buying any perfume for the past decade or so maybe even longer !but i did for his special beautiful ethereal uplifting happy eversecent concoction of so many beautiful accords its really bright uplifting clean yet a bit juicy and surprisingly niche natural smelling its tart sparkly almost sharp yet mellow with hints of peachy abricoty pear like nuance that just adds this incredible facet its a perfume well constructed from beginning to end it just evolves and develops i wish it lasted longer but this is the case for most such beautiful surprises ..its musky with hints of white floral the othmansus just makes it sing in joy there is so much softness and almost a powdery veil of slight ambery whispery accords its a true beauty in this day and age i fell in love from first smell and i actually bought it for its price is incredibly affordable for the quality and i love the bottle it just compliments the story its a pick me up scent it helped me through a rough period i my life as well i just take a whiff of it and it literary makes me feel better invigorated and happy ! this is coming from someone who cant take such accords(white indolic or yellow florals) lightly i was worried of headache issues during certain times of the month i do feel it a little bit more diffusive and i have to apply with a light hand i actually always do a spray is al one really needs ! its clean its sophisticated its real its close to the heart easily reachable a crowd pleaser and its truly beautiful in unexplainable ways its not generic in anyway its a special scent for everyday use its an all season perfume but would be perfect for spring and summer it blooms in warm temperatures and smells divine indoors and out doors it radiates and diffuses and leaves a beautiful ethereal clean lightly floral trail i don't consider it as a full on fruity perfume it has hints of light tart fruity notes but they compliment the musky floral accords accentuate the mellow soft yet ethereal base

L'Occitane Osmanthus is like being surrounded by bright, warm sunshine. Its fresh, clean and uplifting but unlike some other (equally gorgeous) shower fresh scents I own, it does have its own identity. Its simple, in that it smells predominantly of osmanthus and apricots with a slightly soapy and aquatic pear undertone but I really don't find it to be overly linear or boring. The opening is sunny and bright with juicy apricots and osmanthus before it starts to take on a slightly more soapy and aquatic nature due to the pear note and that for the most part is how Osmanthus smells on me until we hit the 5hr mark and it becomes more warm and slightly musky. If this scent had a time and place, to me it would be Roath Park in Cardiff during the summertime, circa 2003-ish; why 2003? I have no idea, it just has a very nostalgic and happy vibe to it which reminds me of that period of time in my life as a young child. Longevity is good, I get about 7 or so hours from it and a soft, airy silage. Its easy to wear for both work and casually and can be worn year round, especially as a pick me up during the colder, darker autumn and winter months. I absolutely adore it and I will definately be repurchasing it when my bottle runs out <3

Ugh. WHERE DID IT GO? It literally disappears on my skin. I loved the scent, I love peach-y, apricot-y scents, florals, woody notes, so I thought I'd love this one and I was right...until 1 hour later. I couldn't smell any notes of it anymore (also I accidentally spritz it on my desk too, and I can't smell it from there too, lol)! Other than this issue, it is a beautiful scnet, clean enough, happy enough, almost chic but in a cute way. Lowest sillage and longevity amongst the perfumes that I tried from this brand. Maybe there is something wrong with my tester bottle or something, I'll try it at the store too and update this. Please make an EDP of this, L'occitane!

More fruity than it is osmanthus-y -- which is already a fruity flower. But i like it. Fruitiness stay very strong for the first 10 minutes or something and it sort of transforms into something a bit cooler. I feel like it's only like 50 percent similar to narciso rodriguez her edt. Although really not that similar. This one has a sweet summery almost body spray energy with a whisper of the coolness of the osmanthus flower and nr her edt smells like a rainy day around osmanthus flower.

Happy, fruity, light, positive, beautiful scent. I tested this at L'Occitane store and bought a small bottle right away. Very easy to wear and likable, gives bright spring vibes. Smells natural, not overpowering. I do not think of it as of one of my favorites, but still I wear it quite often, as it is such an easy reach, non-demanding and uplifting, great for spring. Longevity is average at best.

Wow, this is interesting out the bottle, on my skin it turns white chocolate- the expensive type and not gourmand, along with the loveliest well blended rounded apricot/pear notes, and the florals bringing up the back end. It's so lovely. Not at all like a regular fruity floral. There's make up vibe too. Decent longevity - I am at 6 hours into the evening and it's still strong

The first thing I got from Osmanthus is the flower but my daughter gets fruits; pear and peaches plus bitter orange at the background. This EDT is a fresh scent, very refreshing. No silliage but lasts enough for an EDT. It is harmless great blind buy. Definitely has a character. Great for summer and spring. And elegant.

This is my long distance best friend's everyday perfume. She just left for the airport after spending 5 days over, after we haven't seen each other for years and likely won't see each other again for a couple more years. It's my favourite perfume.

Its one of those healing interventions when you tired and feeling down. It helps enhance your mood and charge your batteries. to me its masterpiece from the company L Occitaine. Wonderfull, gorgeous calming village with vintage cottage aura...

A well mixed good quality of fruites its a happy scent a very vibrant and energy booster. When I sniff it I see group of a very young teenage girls walking on the street in a sunny blue sky day...

This is the best perfum i've ever own, it's clean but not dove soap musky clean... It's the "royal/luxurious " type of clean. It's so good, that it got stolen from me 😂😂😂.

I love it!!!!!!! No joke, this smells like heaven to me. I will never be without a bottle (I hope).

This is first and foremost a fruity and sweet scent, but there is a bitterness here as well, and something slightly herbal to tie it down. The pear is very prominent initially, and it is giving a shampoo vibe as I often feel pear does. But even though it is in this ‘shampoo-fresh-realm’ and a lot of people assosiate that with juvenile scents, this is not like that at all. This one is more like an expensive beauty saloon where you pay big bucks for a blowdry, and they are playing relaxing lo-fi music whilst you are reading a glossy magazine. In the drydown something soft and mellow emerges. Almost musky and lactonic; The osmanthus shines alone. I smell the carrot seed (exactly how the carrot seeds smells in my all time favourite perfume ‘Sonic Flower’ from Room1015). In ‘Osmanthus’ the muskyness from the carrot seeds, help to strengthen the exclusive vibe. All in all, I would claim that this really is bang for buck. Enough so that when I stumbled upon a 75ml bottle, for around 40$ (don’t take my princing for a fact, I don’t use dollars as my currency) a week after I wrote my review I just had to get it.

Update of the update: Year 4 into owning this baby and I finally get a little osmanthus. I’m glad I can smell it now, but I’d prefer my body not to smell perfumed with shampoo to anyone while I’m in public. So it’s a bedtime perfume. Updated review: If you’re looking for a realistic osmanthus perfume THIS ISN’T IT. I like it now, it still smells like shampoo, but it's very pleasantly fruity, and has nuance. Still can't pick up the osmanthus properly even though there is just a hint of it's body and essence in there.. other notes overpower it. I love the smell of osmanthus bushes, whenever I walk past them I pause and smell the flowers. Will have to find me a photorealistic osmanthus perfume!! I got it as a birthday gift a few years ago.. it has always had this shampooey scent to it, I smell real osmanthus straight from the bushes while walking past them on streets, I smell no resemblance unfortunately. But this is nothing pungent I wouldn’t be complaining if someone wore it.

I like this fragrance, but I don't love it. There's something about it that's just slightly too fruity for me. I love the muskiness, the floracy and the apricot note of this perfume, but I'm not a major fan of the pear and bitter orange notes. I'm the first to admit that I have never smelt or seen osmanthus flowers in real life though. I only smelt it in the now discontinued fragrance Contre Moi by Louis Vuitton. This perfume lasted a fairly long time on me at 7 hours, but the sillage was only barely moderate on me. It's a somewhat light scent. I'm also not a fan of the cheap looking bottle. The price is very cheap for a fragrance though I have to say. It's very good value for money! I don't think that I'll be buying it though. That's why it's a 7/10 for me.

L'Occitane Osmanthus is much better than I expected. It is a light floral-fruity-woody scent, which is nevertheless quite long lasting (6+ hours on my skin) and projects nicely. It's nothing like Amouage Sunshine, which features a very sweet and strong apricot smell. Here, the apricot is detectable but unassuming, and perfectly mixed with citruses and vegetable aromas to give it a pleasant and relaxed vibe, perfect for spring and summer. The base consists of ambrettolide and iso-e super, but it doesn't smell artificial at all. Obviously, this is not a show-stopper, but a pleasant, office-friendly, everyday scent. It reminds me of a fragrance such as Chanel Chance Eau Fraiche or Eau Vive, sans the musk.

Fresh oranges and floral, definitely reminds me of the way osmanthus enhances the sweetness/floral aspects of tea when brewed together. I wish this projected more because actual osmanthus bushes really fill whatever space they're planted in. The hand cream version of this scent has better projection and longevity which is a bit embarassing. On another note, the association between osmanthus blossoms and Mid-Autumn festival is so strong in Chinese culture that this would be completely appropriate in the fall as well as summer.

The first burst of scent is a ray of sunlight. Fresh, bright, sweet spring florals, strong apricot. There's a hint of osmanthus flower, but it certainly isn't a 'straight from the tree' scent. Within an hour, it had vanished on my skin, and every trace had gone from my paper tester a few hours later. It's very fruity and happy and I would buy this in a heartbeat for spring and summer if the longevity were better, but if even I can't smell it after an hour, there's no point.

This is described as a flower tea scent and I completely agree. I have the 10ml so maybe the drydown is more complex as a spray form? Not sure. It is linear but I love the freshness it imparts to my day. I mostly wear it during daytime but my family back home drinks all sorts of flower and green teas after dinner, so I wear it at night sometimes to remind me of them.

This was a blind purchase and I'm glad I didn't regret it. It smells like reading A Room with a View by E.M. Forster under an apricot tree while you eat an orange, the sun kisses the back of your neck and the insects are very loud. It's nothing special yet I really like its spring/summer simplicity. It's fruity, floral and musky, just like a sunny day should be.

The opening is bright and a little sharp, very clean smelling, almost antisepticly so. But, the best part is after about an hour, my favourite part, a bright Osmanthus comes through bringing wafts of childhood memories. All of this enveloped in an Ambrettolite musk which I’m unsure that I like. I wear it to work as it peps me up!

It’s a very lovely floral somewhat airy wooden based perfume, but the longevity is disappointing given the RRP. Received a sample in my last L’Occitane order and took it for a full day wear, had to reapply after 4h, it’s quite intimate after the first 3-5mins.

Tried this in the store today, and was pleasantly surprised because it did not smell at all like osmanthus, apricot or pear. If you are looking for a summery 'sweet juicy mango from tropical countries' scent, look no further. Absolutely delish!

LOVE this a lot since I don't see osmanthus notes outside of asia but I think that this is the most toned down/least sweet and its still a bit sweet for me... the body mist smells like honey DO NOT GET IT!! but yeah really awesome

The dry down is similar to peace love and juicy couture

Beautiful scent, very little longevity.

I absolutely love the smell of this perfume. It has a delicate, warm, floral scent, I find the bitter orange very evident but not overwhelming on my skin, which I appreciate greatly. Unfortunately, the perfume has a weak sillage and fades quickly. I usually don’t mind my perfume being weak, but for a scent this delicate, I really wish it was much stronger—especially considering the price... I can’t smell it unless my nose is within a few a centimeter of my skin (I have a pretty good sense of smell). If the formula improves its longevity and sillage, I would definitely buy this again, but as long as it stays this weak, I would look for a stronger fragrance with the most similar scent I can find.

When sprayed on paper in the shop, it reminded me of the osmanthus blooms in my childhood home garden in Shanghai. However, after buying the mini bottle, I couldn't seem to find that same scent. Very weak sillage/scent, faded after 15min and can't detect the osmanthus anymore. Not sure if I got a bad batch or what, but glad I didn't get the full bottle. I'm still on the search for a realistic osmanthus scent as this was not it. The closest I've gotten is one of the cheap Chinese perfume sprays which, although slightly synthetic, has more sillage, lasting power and similarity to the real plant.

When I first smelled this straight out of the bottle, and on the card, I got very excited. Nostalgic, fresh, summery. I was intrigued by the slight warmth of ambrettolide. On my skin, it totally turned. Within minutes the smell converted from natural to artificial, and began to smell solar...to the point of near sunscreen-yness. Then it vanished within the hour. I kept the card, and smelling it at home I again thought- this is nothing like what it smelled like on my skin. Going to try again, but I don't think this one was a winner.

Well, testing this fragrance has been very enlightening for me. This is exactly how Gucci's Flora edp smelled on me, and now I know why that fragrance didn't work for me. Osmanthus is what I was smelling in Flora. Osmanthus was the only perceptible note in Flora and the same thing happens here on my skin This is nice, warm and cheerful but also very flat and monotonous. I guess I know now to be wary of osmanthus in the future. My skin must amp it up like it does orange blossom and musk.

Such a lovely refreshing opening. Right away I smell a sweet ripe pear and juicy orange. I wish I smelled the apricot tho. Sadly this beautiful opening is fleeting. It does dry down to an exotic floral scent and a musk. I'm not sure if I like the dry down of this one yet. I guess that floral is osmanthus because I'm unfamiliar with that flower. I'm thinking I have to go easy on the sprays because of that dry down, which may become too cloying for me.

Of body lotion: I only got pear and apricot, perhaps some amber... No signs of osmanthus at all. I grew up with Chinese osmanthus but this does not remind me of osmanthus at all. It’s a rather fruity scent.

A simple, floral-musk scent. Nothing offensive but I find that I often want more from it. It can get a little synthetic-jasmine at times, definitely doesn't escape its 'mall-scent' trappings.

I love the smell, it's great for warmer seasons. But I'm very disappointed by the longevity, I can't smell it after 5 minutes of putting it on. For this reason I don't recommend it.

Very pretty fruity floral with abysmal longevity. It disappears within minutes of spraying. Cannot recommend, which is a shame because it really is a pretty scennt.

Where is the Osmanthus? It is not there! It is fresh and clean - ok for a body spray and for when you have a breakfast date in spring at the smoothie bar.

Nice perfume, I have to say that as soon as I sprayed it it didn't excite me too much... Very fruity and so far nothing to complain about, (I like fruity ones) I found it a bit banal... when worn at high temperatures it made itself felt a lot, the initial part is fruity and fruity, but then the magic, I don't know if the heat affects it it accentuated the notes to the nth degree but as soon as I smelled it again it was true love! A sweet and fresh scent at the same time very pleasant on my skin, it evolves divinely, it certainly doesn't last long, but I felt it very well for those 5/6 hours, considering that we are in July while I'm wearing it it's more than good, I was looking for a perfume osmanthus with a fairly fruity scent (since it usually tastes like apricot) and here I was satisfied, L'Occitane creates really beautiful creations and sometimes they are really underrated, however very satisfied and happy that it is part of my collection

Hello from Tokyo! I’ve always wanted to say that. Visiting family here and see L’Occitane stores when I’m out and about. At the mall in Kawasaki I was greeted by a lovely Japanese woman at the store. I sampled this one and thought it would be a nice light scent to wear while traveling on the train and bus. I was a bit self conscious after trying on sample then hopping on crowded train. I asked my husband if it was too strong and he said it was fine. I bought the hand cream and perfume set because it will always remind me of my visit to Japan. Yuka, the pretty saleswoman, told me it is suppose to smell like apricot and pear with a bitter orange note that keeps the scent from smelling too sweet. I think it’s fresh and fruity. I don’t have anything like this in my wardrobe so it’s fun! Not offensive but tranquil. I’ve never smelled flowering Osmantus before but it originated in Asia so I will cherish this perfume.

Introducing the purely floral side of osmanthus, airy and ethereal, like jasmine with its nails trimmed. If you think of osmanthus as a composition itself, this would be just its top notes extracted. Fruity facets like apricot, pear and orange make it sound even lighter. Feathers spinning above the clouds, without any base at all. It's a happy scent, but quite limited, as if carefully calibrated not to excite you too much. A lipstick scent with teenagers in mind, making you look cute, but safely cute. H&M used to have a whole line of cuties like this.

RENAMED: Osmanthus -> Osmanthus Abricot Just giving everyone a heads up - on October 1, 2025, L'Occitane globally relaunched this scent in new bottle as part of their reimagined and minimalist "Flora Orchestra" collection. The formula of the fragrance has not changed. Hope this helps!

Love the dry down but hate the opening. Too much bitter orange. Starts off as screechy and soapy but dries down into perfect apricot amber. Lasts surprisingly long, sprayed this before bed and it was still noticeable this morning when I got near my wrists.

I missed the wonderful osmanthus scent I experienced in Japan, I tried this in the L’occitan boutique. Probably this is other kind of osmanthus, because sweetness is lighter. This was not exactly I was looking for but I enjoyed.

I really liked it is uplifting after the shower, but i had a 15 ml one, and now in Argentina the prices are a disaster to buy a full bottle, and the longevity is less than moderate

wish it could last an hour at least...it is so beautiful i cannot get enough of it. hope they read the reviews and decide to make it a bit longer lasting 👋

Pear always smells like soap to me. But I like it in this one! This is my fav l'occitane! Perfect for summer. It’d a soapy sweet osmanthus, very feminine

I do get a hint of realistic osmanthus in this, but only if I’m really searching for it. It’s quite fleeting, too.
