Roses et Reines

Finding the perfect rose perfume is like looking for Mr. Perfect. It doesn't exist. So you have to settle for something that's decent and good enough. As an entertainer I love to receive rose bouquets. My mother has a garden with pink and red roses and I have been around roses all my life. Rose Absolute attar, rose water, and rose oil are the closet you can get as far as realistic rose scents. Most fragrances that have a note or more of roses are chemically formulated and only imitate what a rose is supposed to smell like. Rose is such a common domestic scent as well so that you find it everywhere: in hand soap, in body lotion, in body creams, powder, bath soap, scented bath water and shampoo and conditioner. Roses Et Reines from L'Occitane is nothing like a real rose. But it's very nice. It's a light rose scent and it doesn't last more than 2 hours at least for me. I have been reading the reviews for this fragrance and it seems to be the case with everyone else. It's an eau de toilette so it's very watered down. It's not rose water either so it's a light fresh fruity rose perfect for putting on after a shower and to spritz on when you can't find anything else to wear and don't have time to put much thought into your perfume. The bergamot orange is very noticeable at first. It's fresh and slightly sharp. Then you get the roses in this perfume that make it into a soft bouquet of pink Bulgarian Rose, white Grasse Rose from Grasse France, a Turkish rose and Moroccan rose. Someone said add a raspberry and it worked. It could have been a strawberry and would have still done the trick. It's fruity and very sweet, like a rose you can actually eat. The dry down for me is the best part. It has heliotrope which I love. There is White Musk and white cedar but they're not big players. They help with the clean soft dry down. I love it. The price is rather high for something this light but I mostly gravitate toward light soft scents anyways. If you're a rose lover try this one. It's beautiful, inoffensive, I can wear this anywhere any time.

Ah, finally, I got to wear a rose fragrance I really love, being a longtime avoider of roses. I would roll myself in it day and night all spring long, if I could! No one seems to share my enthousiasm for it, though, judged merely as a "very nice" and "springtime" fragrance (until I say it's rose and I get the inevitable "Yeah, I hate roses"). Arlesienne seems to get much more sympathies and is slowly cementing its place in my heart. R&R, on the other hand, is too basic, but I feel it's where its charm lies. Give me R&R any day! Roses et Reines is, for the most part, a simple, fresh and straightforward rose scent, verging on the powdery/soapy towards the base notes. The opening is slightly fruity and sour (the red fruit, I suppose). I love the fact that it somehow misses the oh-so-often-done citrus opening. Then the fragrance undergoes an internal evolution of the rose note, starting with Bulgarian rose and then morphing into more powdery and warm, or fruity and fresh tints of rose. It is a subtle transition, albeit one which makes this simple, rather linear fragrance interesting. Comparing it to the Rose 4 Reines, I find them almost identical, with Roses et Reines being a bit more fruity, where R4R is more powdery. With me the lasting power is just as consistent, without added sweetness. I have been using a mini (7.5 mililitres, I think) for a month now and I haven't reached the middle of the bottle yet. So, I am not going to mourn the previous release and just enjoy this one until it lasts, and then get a full bottle, perhaps. Pitty for those who find Roses and Reines lackluster, I hope you find a replacement. Next stop: Neroli&Orchidee.

I used the solid perfume version of Roses et Reines, but since I couldn't find it (and it's the same scent), here is my review: As the name suggests, rose scents are dominant in this perfume, but bergamot is also evident, and it has a clean and fresh scent. Not a faint, heavy or sugary scent of roses, but rather fresh roses. Not a rose-scented Turkish delight, but a rose garden :D I guess there is no solid perfume version anymore (and the spray version may be changed/discontinued), but if you can find the solid one, here are my impressions of it: I think sillage is good because I thought the people around me didn't smell my perfume at all (since I can't smell it from myself), but I got compliments from more than one person, and they were surprised when I said "I thought the smell of my perfume didn't spread".

Clean and slightly green rose scent. It’s unmistakably rose but pleasantly interrupted with enough citrus note and tart fruitiness to not feel like a rose only scent. To me it smells fresh and feminine. I find it to be pretty linear and it’s just nice from start to finish. It’s light with very low projection yet I’ve found the longevity pretty good on my skin. One of my favourite rose scents because it isn’t heavy, headache inducing or cloying. I love ‘soapy’ fragrances, and while this isn’t classically soapy to me it has that quality to it. Smells a bit like you’ve stepped out of the shower, squeaky clean after using a nice, expensive fruity and rose scented body wash.

Gorgeous light rose perfume that is refreshing and juicy. The roses sparkle and have no powdery elements. I bought this in a Christmas gift pack that also included soap, hand cream, body lotion and shower gel. Works brilliantly when layered but on its own the longevity isn't great, though it's a generous size at a good price point. This is a soft, young rose fragrance that can be worn at all ages. Beautifully refreshing on a warm day.

I Love Roses. Sometimes I crave those simple Roses without excessive Musk, Patchouli, Oud, Jam, Spices, Vanilla.. burying the Rose underneath. At that time, this is what I go for. A very delicate French-spirited Rose that smells to me quite natural. The rest of the notes do not overwhelm the Rose, she is the Queen in this perfume. I've had it for so long and will always come back to it.

Gorgeous- rose and berries, so cheerful and fresh! Feels classic but not old-lady. I don’t wear this as much as Paul Smith Rose, but I do love it. Projects well and lasts a good while on me. I’ve been stopped twice and asked what this fragrance is by passers-by, felt bad telling them it's discontinued!

Bought this for my Daughter for Christmas. She loves Tea Rose by Perfumer's Workshop. Roses et Reines is more subtle and less sharp. Very fresh, beautiful and comforting. Full review to come.

I loved this in the store and was only able to grab the hand cream. Sweet, clean rose. ⚪️🌹⚪️ Nina Ricci's Rose Extase smells just like this to me.

Pure roses in a bottle :) Wonderful, romatic, realistic fragrance - for those who love roses as I do- a touch of grace and romanticism.

I loved this fragrance. the nuances of rose were magnificent and it didn't feel synthetic at all. Sadly this has been discontinued.

This will always be my favourite Rose perfume ever! I love it and thank God I have 3 bottles of this!

So this is the last evolution of the evergoing rose at L'Occitane. It started long ago with few unequalled "vintage" scents, went through Rose4Reines which I like and Rose Nuit de Mai which I loved (now discontinued) and eventually Rose&Reines. Well, at least they don't put different stuff in the same bottle and blame the wearer's nose for discrepancies. I was cautious about this new one, but I need to say that I'm glad I tried it. I still have my Rose4Reines so, no need to buy this one soon, but soon or later I will. Of course, when I finish my R4R they will come out with yet another rose... Rose& Reines is very similar to R4R but it has a lighter and fresher tone. It's always all about ROSE, a good rendition of the flower, in spite of the fact that it's probably 99% synthetical. I think that R4R's lovers will be happy nonetheless with it. It's rosey, feminine, classic but lively and it lasts longtime on skin (forever on fabrics). A good deal for the price and a very pleasant scent for those moments when you don't really know what to wear, because it's difficult to go wrong with this. It has gone from strong to faint and fainter with this last edition. Watering down? I believe that L'Occitane made better perfumes before.

I tested this perfume and Roses 4 Reins in the L'Occitane store twice since I was trying to decide between the two perfumes. But for me Roses et Reins was the winner both times. Although both perfumes are very similar (ReR replacing R4R), ReR has a fresher scent and lasted a bit longer on me than R4R. Roses et Reins is a fruity, creamy, fresh rose scent that to me the best rose perfume I've ever had the fortune to smell! It is not only realistic, but youthful and comforting. Roses et Reins lasts about 3 hours on me, or 5 with the matching lotion and shower gel. I purchased their gift pack that contains all the above and a mini hand cream. Overall, I love this perfume and will repurchase for sure, I love the scent so much! I am glad that L'Occitane introduced this updated version of Roses 4 Reins because Roses et Reins smells better and lasts a bit longer in my book. Edit: I wanted to add a few sentences for those of us who don't like sweet or overly sweet perfumes. If you like florals that are moderately sweet, with a touch of freshness or tartness, this perfume is for you! It is a bit hard to select floral perfumes because they are often overly sweet, but not this one!

L'Occitane's Roses et Reines is a simple, beautiful, soothing rose. Yes, there is bergamot, blackberry and cedar, but these notes are only there to support the rose and to keep it smelling fresh. Rose has been used for skin care for thousands of years and I would wager it will for thousands more, as its uplifting properties create a sense of well-being. I use this entire line on lazy Sundays when I'm excessively tired: Shower gel, shampoo, conditioner, body milk and EDT. Some Roses et Reines, loose fitting clothing, a nap, and a yoga session, and I'm ready to conquer during the week. On longevity: I just threw in the washer the clothes I wore this Sunday. It is Tuesday night and my shirt is still perfectly scented. (I used the body lotion and sprayed only my skin).

Like a dew drop washes along the pink leaves of a springtime rose, this scent has a gorgeous, sweet, floral note accompanied by a juicy and refreshing aquatic sense. There is a delicate herby note, reminiscent of the earthy dirt underneath this gorgeous natural display. The lightness of this scent unfortunately leaves the projection and longevity sub-optimal, but overall a lovely and utterly feminine crowd pleaser.

First encountered this beauty during my trip to Hongkong last year, and since I'm an avid rose scent fan, this really captured me. The 4 kinds of rose mixed together made one ultra beautiful combination. However, the longetivity is poor on my skin. Need to re-apply to get the scent working again, sad..it could have been my Go-to-perk me up rose scent, but it failed. not worth the amount I paid for it.

Starts out with Chloe type dna, then settles into classic rose type perfume. I don't find it to be very alluring. It has this very clean almost soap like quality. I'd say it's good for office if you want something neutral but feminine. Good all year round. edit: longevity is very good. on skin 8h+ on clothes beyond 3 days. It even owerpowers my men's fragrance that I put on my wrist 3 days in.

I tested this out on the weekend, it is a very pretty light sweetish rose with a little tartness to it. I am not big on rose fragrances but if I were in the market for one I would definitely purchase this. I loved that it had a freshness about it and didn't turn powdery as many rose fragrances can. It had great longevity, I could still smell it 6 hours after applying.
