The Vert & Bigarade

The Vert & Bigarade is my favorite Green Tea centered fragrance to date. The tea is crisp and smooth, never bitter. The bitter orange is not strong at all, and merely acts as a stage hand to round out the fullness of the refreshing green tea. I hardly notice it. This one is more of a single note fragrance than the original The Vert which has a very prominent lemon especially in the opening. I strongly prefer The Vert & Bigarade to the original. It is what The Vert should have been. I don’t know how it compares to Elizabeth Arden’s green tea collection, but as far as tea fragrances go, I think I actually also prefer TV&B to L’Artisan’s The Pour un Ete, though it's lovely in its own right, and also features a green tea accented by citrus. The Pour un Ete starts off with a sweeter and more gentle lemon than the lemon tea combo in The Vert, and the dry down of The Pour un Ete is a more prominently jasmine-green tea. The Verte & Bigarade stays pretty linear on my skin: Straight sparkling smooth green tea all the way. I might drink it. It has very good longevity for a green tea fragrance. Applied in early evening, I can still smell it on my skin the following morning. It’s projection is average. The dry down smells like rich matcha green tea. Great job, L'Occitane! I love to layer this translucent light green scent with Pacifica’s Island Vanilla to make a matcha green tea ice cream fragrance. Wonderfully simple and well done. Great for casual daily wear as with most green tea fragrances (and L’Occitane fragrances for that matter). Do not say that green tea has been done to death before trying this one out.

Nice bitter citrus opening with a great green tea dry down. This has been a favorite of mine for several years, even stocking up with some spare bottles (before it was discontinued). Now I'm at the last half of my last bottle, and I'm really going to miss this EdT. On me it lasts a long time and it's a great summer fragrance. This is my favorite L'Occitane fragrance. Very green, very fresh.

Am I the only one who thinks that this fragrance smells exactly like Fancy by Jessica Simpson? It sits on my skin for more than 4 hours and the sillage is super awesome which I couldn't get it in Fancy. It begins with mint citrussy smell, and after 15-20 minutes I can sniff sweet creamy tea which really lifts up my mood. After 4 hours, It smells powdery but still get the green tea.

I tried this on the other day at the store and fell in love with it. It smells like a citrus green tea. After it dries down i can catch a whiff of light musk. I keep thinking about it so I am going to have go back and buy it darn it. Love it. Update: not only did i buy it but got the lotion too. I get compliements when folks get a whiff of this scent.

Opens up with a crisp and natural citrus and drys down to a lovely tea scent. Very natural and fresh. Longevity is a slight downside but I love to reapply this. Great for working at home or at bedtime.

This is a very nice hot weather scent, very fresh and light and crisp. To my nose there's more "thé vert" than "bigarade": the bitter orange is definitely noticeable and has a brightening effect on the fragrance as a whole, but all in all it's very much a green tea scent. There's also something vaguely spicy about it, which I guess must be the thyme, and that adds a bit of extra depth as well. So it's pretty much what I expected from the (in my eyes lovely) pyramid of notes, and very enjoyable, but despite that I don't love this. I'm disappointed in the longevity and strength of this fragrance: even for a light summer cologne it's bad. I really have to use loads of it and even then it's only really noticeable for about half an hour, even when smelling my wrist closely, and just a little later it's disappeared completely. It's not cheap and I don't think it's special enough to justify that price at that level of weakness. For some reason, this weak quality bothers me a lot more in this one than in Jasmin & Bergamotte that I reviewed a couple of weeks ago; maybe because I had higher expectations of this one. So if you're looking for a good grean tea scent, I think you're better off with for instance Yves Rocher's Thé Vert for price/quality. Even though it's just as flighty and I like it a little less because it's grassier and just a bit less refined, that one is also great, and it's so cheap you can bathe in it without worrying you're pouring money down the drain. It's a shame because I really like it, but because of this weakness I hardly wear my mini of Thé Vert & Bigarade, and I certainly won't ever upgrade to a full bottle.

This is the replacement of L'Occitane's The Vert eau de toilette. "Upgraded", says a sales rep from the store. Upgraded in price, they mean. S$91/75ml this retails for, as opposed to The Vert which costs S$85/100ml. The Vert au Bigarade (TVB) draws striking resemblance to the original The Vert. It is a citrus green tea like The Vert. However, it smells smoother, with less emphasis on the citrus and more on a warm hay note.It also lacks the bitterness that you'd find in The Vert. I compare TVB to The Vert like a cup of warm tea in the countryside versus a cool cup of citrus green tea in a room full of jasmine flowers. Sillage: Soft. Softer than The Vert Longevity: 5 hours Verdict: Decent, but I had expected more with the rather huge jump in price. --------- STOCK UP ON THE VERT IF YOU PREFER THE IT AS ONCE IT'S SOLD OUT IT'LL BE GONE. FOREVER.

In my search for the perfect citrus scent I came across the L'occitane fragances. Together with a FB of Verveine a 3 minis of the collection Grasse to start with. The second of three mini bottles I am testing is The Vert and Bigarade: It is 11.15 a.m. A few splash drops on my back hand. It is strong at first but become softer after 15 minutes. It is a cup of green thee with lemon althought the lemon is stronger than the the note. There is also a bit sweetness and a floral note?. I can't smell the thyme or the cedar. I am drinking green thee with lemon right now and in between smelling my hand and the cup thee. It smells also natural and pure as other fragances from L'occitane en Provence. I like this more than Neroli and Orchid. Update: it is now 13:30 p.m. the fragance is a the with faint musk skinscent.

This is the right green tea fragrance! It's The One. I've always liked green tea fragrance (or tea in general, really) but I find many are too.."tea". I mean, of course I want the tea, but not exactly right-from-the-pot tea smell. Even the green tea from EA is not quite right yet, thus I haven't bought it. And then I smelled this. Just 2 days ago when I visited the counter. And this was just right. This is the one I want. It still smell a lot like tea, but there are soft flowery smell to it and very fresh and green. Lovely. <3 I'm adding this to my want list.

Simple and refreshing! I really do like this one! It's a beautiful combination of green smells from the French countryside. You have hay, thyme, bitter orange (a very refreshing note!), with a combination of a set of other "green" and refreshing notes (mate - a green herbal tea from south america... and chinese pure green tea). I absolutely recommend this one for summer and hot weather! Once again L'Occitane proves that they can make outstanding fragrances whilst being natural and with quality. Give this one a try in summer and you'll see what I mean!

I usually go for super sweet, super feminine fragrances (never unisex) so I wasn't really expecting to enjoy this when I landed a sample of it. It just goes to show that you should always venture out of your comfort zone once in a while, because I LOVE this for summer. It's strong but in a fresh way, and the bitter orange note sings LOUDLY on my skin. Will I shell out for a full size bottle when this sample runs out? I'm not sure, there are a lot of scents on my wish list. But this is very nice, no doubt.

I adore L'Occitane. Their scents work great with my chemistry. I really liked The Vert and used it a lot at the time, until someone mentioned that it smells a lot like henna (used to color hair and create temporary tattoos). I was excited about The Vert & Brigarade, but to me, it smells exactly like the old The Vert. Maybe my nose isn't subtle enough... Still, henna or not, I really like the scent, it's fun for spring and summer time, with a decent longevity and a sillage not too overwhelming.

I'm very much of fan of L'occitane products, there's something refined and classy about the brand. The vert & Bigarade is a lovely fragrance, the initial opening is very fresh and citrus, almost immediately the green tea comes through, it is immaculately well blended. I love it, but downside as with some of their fragrances, the longevity is terrible, I get about 45 minutes max. Beautiful to use after a Summer shower.

It's an amazing fragrance. Very fresh and green, juicy, the green tea is so lovely. It is a very well balanced fragrance, which, unfortunately, lasts for like 30min... I usually put it on my wrist when I work from home just to freshen up and wake myself up with this smell. Unfortunately, it's not even worth putting it on when going out.

I thought I get back The Vert au Jasmin, but I changed my mind. The Vert & Bigarade smells so fresh, youthful, I think I like it even more than Dior Escale a Portofino. This is a wonderful solution for the summer. Lasted 2-3 hours, which is not bad, I love to reapply in summer. edit/and after 6 hours still to feel on the skin

I can't smell the difference between this and The Vert. They both smell the same to me. It does seem to fade rather quickly I'm afraid, but maybe it's one of those fragrances other people can smell on you when you think it's gone. I hope so, because it's a very nice smell. It's basically green tea on your skin.

This is my go-to fragrance during summer, green tea being one of my favourite notes. It's very refreshing, very linear, simply green tea with citrus. It has better longevity than eau de cologne but it's not very long lasting. However it's a pleasure to spray it again during the day!

This smells like real green tea! This fragrance is very well done. Fresh and sensual. It smells like those fancy teas we get at european coffee houses. Try it if you like full bodied fresh fragrances or exotic tea. P.S: this is really unisex, men can wear it without problems.

The vert is a very fresh and delightful green tea fragrance that you want too indulge during spring and summer time! The citrus is strong but doesn't overwhelming for the palate! Enough grassy/green smell. The longevity is pretty strong, its worth the money you pay!

An incredibly green and refreshing scent. I picked this up in a deal L'Occitane was running where you could get three minis for a reduced price. As nice as it is I can't see myself wearing it too often as it's not really my style.

I have had a miniature for years and wondered what the hell "&" was. It is probably this one - very citrusy in the opening and turns into beautiful green tea. I like it and bugs love it!

The same as any other good thing - it was discontinued :(.

Unfortunately this is not for me. On me, this scent is too sharp and tangy, and I am saying this as a fan of citrus. It feels like I have accidentally 'drank' lemon juice from the nostrils. Also reminds me a bit of cleaning agents. Once it settles as a skin scent it becomes dominated by the thyme. I own the shampoo version of this and it is lovely. The shampoo(and its conditioner) truly conveys the tea and freshness of the scent without irritating my nose. It stays in your hair too. If you are interested in this, get the shampoo instead. I also wonder what these perfumers think when they make green tea perfumes. Most green tea scents I tried, including Elizabeth Arden, are very very tangy and squeakily clean like air fresheners. However, Japanese and Chinese green tea do not taste like that at all. Although they do leave a faintly acidic taste in your mouth, they are generally mellow and slightly bitter. It seems like these green tea perfumes only took the literal 'green' out of the tea and oversaw its comforting gentleness.

No one makes tea like L'Occitane!!! I still remember and mourn the loss of the wonderful Thé Vert au Jasmin which used to cheer many of my summer days. This is a lovely alternative to that scent - although they are not totally similar - hoping that it will not share the fate of being discontinued too. It opens bright and strong, with neroli playing the lion's share. It becomes less strong with the passing of time when the green tea comes out and take the lead accompanied by herbs and a countryside feeling that I adore. The lasting power is very good, unlike many colognes of the kind which last only a couple of hours, this one lasts a whole morning. It's a scent that puts you in a good humored spirit, I love it in hot summer days. It's a very provençal scent, very summery, very very chic and not only for me but truly unisex in the fullest. And not expensive but very high quality. BEAUTIFUL

Been looking for a green tea fragrance and have been comparing this to Elizabeth Arden's green tea. I want to like the Elizabeth Arden as it is almost always a staple in many people's dressing tables. Well, it is very wearable and most can easily accept the Elizabeth Arden green tea fragrances. However, I don't love it but better yet I've found a better version (in my opinion) of green tea fragrance by L'occitane. This is a sweeter smelling and more lifting rival of Elizabeth Arden's green tea! Not to mention more fun and gives a younger vibe as well!
