The Vert (Green Tea)

EDIT: After several uses, it's time I write a better review. Just bought this today after reading all the reviews here lol. I own Elizabeth Arden's Green Tea EDP spray as well. This baby here cost me S$85 for 100ml as opposed to EA's S$19.90/100ml. It does smell like Elizabeth Arden's GT initially (like, the first 5 minutes) but proceeds to mellow down. Compared to EA, Eau Vert is far more mellow, as EA's GT smells very green and sharp. On the sample paper at the store, it smells like everything at once but on my skin it is predominantly tea with hints of citrus and a dash of jasmine. For some reason, the citrus reminds me of a touch of L'occitane's Verbana. Yet, if I were to smell carefully, I can distinctively smell the green tea, mate, jasmine, citrus and a herbal dry down. Very well blended, as someone here has said. It's nice how I can smell all the notes and yet at the same time they blend wonderfully together. Sometimes green tea peeks out alongside mate, but soon sinks into the background as the sweet scent of jasmine appears. And the cycle repeats. Longevity is impressive. I sprayed a couple of sprays on a shirt I wore and I could still smell it days later. On skin it lasts around 3-4 hours for me but the scent wears away if you wash these parts. Sillage is moderate/soft, depending on how many sprays you use :) It is particularly great under the hot sun as the humidity and perfume mix together to provide a mental relief from the searing heat. I like to wear this a lot these days when I'm at work, or when meeting up with male friends whom I have no romantic interest in *winks* Oh, and that Elizabeth Arden bottle of Green Tea? Well, it's kinda lonesome these days since I don't reach for it anymore.

Thank you, fellow members! There is something to be said for throwing in samples when swapping! It really CAN be a way to introduce people to new scents. Both this and Bvlgari's Thé Rouge were given to me as samples in swaps with two different members. They weren't even on my "want" or "test" lists; still, here I am seeking out full bottles of these wonderful tea scents! This, to me, is predominantly tea and bitter orange. Maybe a tad "cologne-y" at first, but becomes softer in a very short time. I don't necessarily smell jasmine, but there is a clean, light floral in the background. Like Bvlgari's Thé Rouge, this scent dries down to a milky, nutty musk. L'Occitane en Provence has, unfortunately, discontinued this scent. *sigh* HOWEVER! I managed to buy one last bottle -- which they had beneath the counter. Yay! Edit: If you love this scent, I would highly suggest that you visit/phone your nearest L'Occitane boutique, and ask if they have any leftover stock tucked away. After I'd written the above review, I was able to purchase a couple of extra bottles, by simply calling a shop even closer to home.

It smells like a classy, sophisticated old lady. I really like the scent cloud, even though it's a little odd when I sniff it up close? From a distance, it's clean, round, musky, bitter, yet still fresh. But up close, it's really astringent bitter tea, like if you made strong tea and didn't add enough sweetener to be able to really enjoy the nuances of the tea's flavor. Right after spraying, I get a very sharp and bitter lime, and I like it a lot more after that mellows out. Oh, and there's a subtly nutty/herbal smell that sort of sits apart from the rest of it, kind of reminds me of fennel tea. Edit: I have promoted this from a like to a love. My first few times wearing it, I thought it was nice but was also conflicted. I am no longer conflicted, I love wearing this, and I reach for it often as a pretty, not very sweet, and interesting everyday fragrance. It makes me feel clean, relaxed, and put together. I don't find it especially bitter anymore, but I do still prefer it after the citrusy top notes fade a bit.

I've known this scent for a long time, having purchased it (solid form) in 1999, and then buying the EDT in 2012. I always loved it, so maybe I'm just biased, but of all the scents I've smelled that identify themselves as "green tea", I think this one nails it. This actually smells like green tea to me (perhaps an idealized version, like green tea ice cream, but still...). Other "green tea" scents smell bright or fresh, but not usually like tea. I also own L'Occitane The Vert et Bigarade, by accident, and they smell almost identical to me. I sprayed each one on my wrists tonight. Maybe TV&B has a mild rubber-like smell after an hour? Honestly I wouldn't notice if I wasn't sitting here obsessively sniffing my wrists like a psycho. Longevity for both is about the same - around three hours, I'd say. Sadly, I think they both might be discontinued now.

For years this was my signature scent, and I would crave it at the first cold snap in November, probably because that's when I first discovered it and I loved to catch wisps of its spicy coolness on the cold air. At first it seems merely plain, fresh, crisply inoffensive, but the thyme and nutmeg yield a spicy warmth and a depth that other green tea fragrances lack. I bought bottle after affordable bottle and was devastated when it was replaced with the inferior (but much more expensive) The Vert & Bigarade, the drydown of which manages to be both bitter and sickly. I hoarded several bottles but have found some to have a shorter shelf life than some other perfumes. But today, true to form as it's Nov. 2, I dug one out and was relieved to find it still fresh, cool, dry and spicy. I don't think L'Occitane has made anything as good since.

I splurged on this $ 50 cologne for my birthday last month and find it soothing and uplifting at once. It reminds me of a quality Spa, a place of clean lines, oriental decor, and uncluttered freshness. Personally, I do not find that any of the "green tea" scents smell very much like actual green tea (leaves or brewed--they are generally a bit more mossy and citrussy), but this scent is very nice and fresh, and I love that l'Occitane derives it from all natural ingredients. This means, it needs to be reapplied mid-day, but that is actually a pleasure (I have the purse atomizers Frangrancenet.com currently sells at a sale price--you fill them from the atomizer stem at the base--brilliant). I wear this to work when I want freshness and elegance and nothing in the least bit loud or offensive.

Another great, earthy, fresh, discontinued perfume from loccitane. I fell in love with this perfume a long time ago, and i finally got it when it's about to discontinued (and I got it for half price) There are a lot of green tea perfume in the market such as bvlgari, Elizabeth arden,etc. But I think to paid half price from those high-end brand is worth the money and experience.. This is classic, old school and limited edt(now) Its a love struck! Perfect for spring🌸, lovely for summer🌞 and excelent for fall 🍂..

This is DISCONTINUED in the USA according to the website and the ladies on the store. I did pick up 3 bottles and it is the same as the version in France and it is the same formula as the one from many years ago. It is the perfect Green Tea scent for purists. It is not weighed down by roses, lemons, or sugar. It is just fresh green tea only slightly better. It is the fragrance that really started the Green Tea craze. It is perfect year round, it's just perfect.

I am a sucker for green tea fragrances. Put one in front of my nose and I'm almost guaranteed to want to buy it. This tea is no exception. I'd say that this particular blend smells more like tea than many others (less abstract than Bvlgari, less fruity than Elizabeth Arden). Definitely a better value than either one - so I am likely to track this one down as my next green tea scent!

This is a very well made and good quality edt.The notes work in harmony with each other.The scent itself and the staying power shows how much the perfume is made of quality ingredient. People around me commented on how good and refreshing it smells when I wore it.It is like happy summer day drinking orange juice, having a picnic at the park with friends and family.

Wow! Just wow! “Green tea” perfume smells simple, subtle, a little sweet, but very clean and light. I see some people compare it to Elizabeth Arden green tea - I have both and the L'Occitane version smells so much better! This one is more on an elegant side, Arden’s more on a cheap side imo. Rollerballs very affordable too! Wow, I’d love to buy more scents.

When I run out of time and need to pick something quick, I always go for this EDT. It is definitely not the most exciting fragrance, but it does have beautifully subtle citrus notes that float into the air after a few minutes leaving my skin with a familiar and comforting powdery tea scent. It's my safe fragrance and it just works really well on my skin.

Very fresh and, on my skin, very citrusy! When i spray this on my skin the citrus notes absolutely dominate the first impression, but right after it hits you the beautiful note of green tea fills in the room, leaving only little space for jasmin to accommodate itself. Very nice frag IMHO, but alas i don't have a bottle for myself. :(

A lovely scent for the summer months especially - I own the solid perfume version of this, and it does wonderful things on the skin on a hot summer's day. Fresh, with beautiful jasmine, more noticeable on warm skin.

Wonderful, never go wrong fragrance. I keep this in my bag and if I forget to place on a fragrance when I leave the house I can use this, it is suitable for all occasions, never overpowering, never offensive.

I bought it one time because I couldn't find the Elizabeth Arden Green Tea, and they literally smell the same. Loccitane is just more expensive.

Great! But I can't find to buy, is it limited?

What more can I say? Before I'd go for L'occitane Cherry Blossom. But since beginning of this year I spray this on me every day I go to work. I have the solid perfumes in almost every single bag that I have. I guess I must have been addicted to this fragrance. It's super clean and fresh. Green tea, citrus, and a bit of jasmine is all over the place. Very similar to EA's Green Tea but this one has much better sillage and last longer on me. L'occitane The Vert lasts around 8 hours on my skin and a little longer when sprayed on clothes. Even on the next day, you can still smell it on the shirt you wore a day before. Sillage is moderate. It's not everywhere, but my colleagues can easily notice me they just always know if I just passed through. I wear EA's Green Tea when I'm home or if I have to go out a bit for groceries on weekends. But for more serious event, L'occitane The Vert sure be the better choice. Oh, my clients love it too. Not overpowering during meetings, even in small room, and it wakes them up!

The immediate impression in the opening is zest-the little peels of citrus fruits that you make to use in cooking- by scraping the skins, to get only the tart, zingy, most flavorful oils from the skin of the fruit. The citrus notes seem to be lemon and bergamot as the strongest scents, (I am sensing mainly lemon) and lime in second place, and then some orange added. The citrus stays the whole time during wear, and dominates the green tea note. The citrus is much more potent than the green tea note, but the two notes alternate during wear. The citrus arises, then green tea comes out; the two go back and forth, playing, but the citrus is always striking and heavy. The green tea note is a very clear, earthy, almost watery note-distinctive-almost as if you were drinking a cup of tea at the moment. Great purity and levity here, excellent longevity, a fantastically energizing scent, or a lovely every day soothing scent. Exactly my cup of tea to enjoy on a cool, sunny afternoon.

The Vert is just wonderful. It's bittersweet, mellowly fresh and yet at the same time humble. I can smell a lot of greens and citruses here, and overall it's a very good pick for a hot summer day, though it kinda works during cooler periods too. What I adore from The Vert the most is the opening. It's just really cool and green, even though it's not exactly tea. More like very sweet iced tea. It dries down to a very likeable scent, even though after a few hours it can turn into this dizzying sweetish scent which I don't really like. Longevity and sillage are good, but strangely, the unlikeable sweetish residual scent seems to have more sillage than the opening and middle notes. Overall a very likeable perfume, but not for night wear methinks. It's replaced by The Vert and Bigarade, which is not a bad scent to me, but I still prefer this original The Vert. Rating: 7.5/10

I didn't like the opening. It was strong in orange at first. Citrus, sweet, this is not what I expected for a green tea scent. The drydown is much better. The tea and the jasmin is calming and comforting. Unfortunately citrus notes still linger somewhere around. I wish it could be bitterer like White Tea by l'Occitane. It's still a lovely fragrance, green and fresh, inoffensive and suitable for many occasions, unisex as well. But it just doesn't fit the image of green tea for me. It's some sort of fruit tea IMHO. I also have White Tea by l'Occitane and I prefer the scent of White Tea. But Green Tea lasts longer and its sillage is better.

Fresh and soft. Green tea and jasmine in a pleasant airy combination. I have the solid, which I bought after a long period of skin issues which prevented me from wearing perfumes. (I gladly am better now and can wear them again!) The solid version is a very pretty summer scent where the green tea and jasmine combine to create an airy and green soft floral. It goes beautiful in warm skin. Happy and cozy in a soft fresh way. I am a fan!

+++ its my wife favorite so far. girls notice this. even my female boss gave compliment me when i wear this.. wink wink + good opening smell. green tea is my kind of thing. - sometime i feel the vert has feminim side (jasmine) i feel not so comfortable at.. - and after 3 hours or so it will lack of its freshness and turn to be boring.. need reapply.. refreshen for every 4 hour.. 4 (+) out of 6, so its a 6.7/10 then

Have it for years, Green Tea is fresh scent with clear notes of Mate and very uplifting, compared to The Vert au Jasmin a bit thin, almost imperceptible... The Vert au Jasmine is floral with strong bitter orange echo and somewhat mystical. There is no mistery in The Vert, feels quite clear tea notes,some citrusies but...it lacks strength. My vote goes to The Vert au Jasmine, more genuine and really unique artwork.

An excellent summer fragrance built around a tea theme! Remarkably long-lasting and with a strong trail for something as fleeting as the scent of freshly brewed green tea (with a hint of lemon). It wins you over with its natural execution, as do all creations from L'Occitane in Provence. Eco-friendly, natural, unobtrusive, masterfully done. Pure Zen!

I just bought the new version with Citrus in it. L'occitane always release and re-release a green tea fragrance in their different lines but the 2020 one is really the best. The art on the bottle is slightly different. It smells amazing! Like a spa. It's great layered with other fragrances like orange scents or the Terre de Lumiere L'eau.

This is really a energizing scent.It is green tea but not too fresh,not to citrus/orange not to soapy.Very well blend.The ingredients are really quality stuff..... It smells great on my skin and on the paper. 1day later I can still smell it on the paper.

Citrusy green tea with soft jasmine, and a deep woodsy base. It's fresh and delicious.. It feels crisp & cool, making it the perfect scent for summer. A clean, inoffensive scent, and has almost a medicinal or sterile quality. In a good way.

Slightly spicy, but I get mostly citrus. It's like lemon green tea more than a straight green tea. Light, pleasant, not long-lasting. Good for summer/warm weather when you don't want something overpowering.

Very nice, gentle, fresh fragrance that really does smell like sweet, cool green tea with a touch of citrus. Great for every day wear. It probably wouldn't be a scent for an evening out.

At first it smells like a very fresh but simple scent. It fades into a beautiful spa-like green tea smell. I love it.

Lime with a hint of fresh cut grass and tea leaves. I was really hopeful for a more complex scent, but it is what it is. Sort of smells like something Clinque would make- also yes, fairly reminiscent of those shower soaps you get at fancy hotels that are always something citrus+tea. Smells very mid-2000's to me. For me, no other complexity or evolution of smell- it is strongly lime, with a hint of grass and green tea. It'd probably be great for working out and summertime. I got the rollerball off Amazon for $23. This is not a signature anything, but will get tossed in my gym bag. Eh.

I'm disappointed with this one. I was hoping to get the serene notes of green tea that people mention, but to my nose, both the citruses and the green tea notes are screechy and very artificial, and the totality of the scent feels similar to strongly perfumed detergents, almost sickening. Opposed to meditative spa feelgood: olfactory noise and stress in a bottle. I tried to scrub it off, but it clinged to my skin nonetheless. I have the new bottle from the classics-series. Have they reformulated it? This is not for me, and I'll keep searching for the green tea fragrance of my dreams :)

This time of year I start to crave spring and that usually manifests itself by me craving, purchasing and wearing cool, fresh, sunny and yummy breezy perfumes, and turning my back more and more on the Oriental bombs and the smokey silage beasts. "The Vert L'Occitane en Provence" is just my cup of tea for the last days of January and it will be a favorite far into the spring and summer months! Cool green freshness, citric zest, floral feminine beauty and herbal depth without that it is too much of one thing. It's a very elegant and yummy scent with an herbal dry-down, reminiscent of standing in the middle of an herbal garden in the Provence looking for just the right herbs to go with your dinner that is cooking on your Aga. Whilst you can smell the freshly pressed orange & lemon juice still on your fingers. On the way to the herbal garden you stopped and picked a jasmine or two out of the big terra-cotta flowerpots. Lost in thought you inhale deeply...and you can feel your lungs fill with a clean spring-air that already holds a promise of a summer that will be reminiscent of holidays with family & friends and lots of laughter. (Darn! This potion makes me lyrical!! lol ; ) A beautiful mood-lifter that is suitable for all occasions and moods since it's not the type of Green Tea scent that smells like you're wearing your morning tea. It's too well blended for that. Tea notes swirling around juicy citric vibes that have a strong jasmines note and a very well adjusted mate vibe. It's herbal without being 'medicinal', tea & orangey-like without being 'food-like' and has a wonderful balance of mate and jasmine. It's addictive, I am wearing it often: (at home, work, leisure-time and on casual dates) and I must get another bottle to have it on stand-by for when the first spring-like days arrive! Silage is: Yummy and pretty aromatherapy for body & mind -- Longevity is: depending on chemistry and amount of sprays. On me three sprays on skin and one on clothes make it last 5+ hours. The Vert is possibly my favourite green tea scent from those that I've smelt so far. It definitely tops Green Tea by Elizabeth Arden and Bvlgari Eau Parfumee au The Vert. It smells natural, herbaceous, citrusy and fresh. The trouble with most green tea fragrances on the market today, is the tendency to make the scent unnaturally sweet. Thankfully L'Occitane has refrained from altering the composition, leaving the green tea note in its most natural form. The Vert smells like actual tea leaves, rather than a watered down cup of tea. An added touch of bitter orange in the top notes, and jasmine in the heart, provide a sparkling and fresh quality. This fragrance is definitely unisex. Both men and women will enjoy sharing this one during the Summer months. The cedar, thyme and nutmeg drydown, strikes me as being more musky and green than anything else. It was a pleasant end to such a fresh and revitalising scent. I know that L'Occitane prices can be a little off-putting for some, especially considering how simplistic some of their fragrances can be. However, I think The Vert is worth it, especially seeing that it lasts almost the entire day on the skin. I would definitely recommend this fragrance as being one of the better scents from the house of L'Occitane. It was well worth discovering.

The lemon and orange starts the Vert rolling and the jasmine keeps it from veering off into the gutter, but it still manages to wobble during it's trajectory and I am never sure whether it will end up being what I want or not. This happens EVERY time I use it. I also tried The Vert with Jasmine from the same line, which smelled truly magical on my friend, but when I tried it on my own skin, it just didn't sit right. It's a fresh green tea, but I wish it would keep the jasmine, eliminate the citrus,and add something to compromise the acidity like a honeyed hay note or maybe even a trace of patchouli or vetiver. Part of the beauty of green tea itself, is its earthy, and naturally verdant quality, which is at once smooth, matte, and refreshing (think matcha), but the presence of the lemon in L'Occitane's The Vert hinders that natural pleasant quality instead of accentuating it. It's almost as if they couldn't figure this one out, and said, "When in doubt, add more citrus!" That said, I continue to revisit this one occasionally to see if maybe just this once, it will become what I want it to be.

i smelled this for the first time in my life today despite having had this bottle at home since forever. the atomizer is broken and i couldn't spray this but today when i tried to fix it a few drops leaked and fell on my finger so i could smell it. my bottle is very old so maybe it's gone bad or something, but i don't get anything fresh at all. this has a very strong tea scent, very smokey, smells kind of like cigarettes to me. not a bad scent necessarily but clearly not what im supposed to be picking up i don't think? this smells like cigarettes on top of a sweet orange scent, hmm... idk. brings back childhood memories because of the smell of cigarettes though. my dad was a smoker and when i was a kid i was always trying to sniff the smoke while he smoked despite him trying to keep me away from it lol.

sadly I don't get the tea note or the mate in this at all, when first sprayed there's that herbal smell that comes from the dried yerba before you pour boiling water to make the mate infusion, but then it's overpowered by the citrics, I thought of this as a more green scent but it srikes me as a very screechy citrus fragrance, I think my opinion is biased because I smelled The vert au jasmin first (two abismally different fragrances by the way), this is definitely more unisex, very refreshing and comfortable.

@bugsyiii says it for me really in terms of scent. This is much stronger on me than the likes of e.Arden green tea, or that white tea one. This one is lemony citric, green sort of, tea. I feel it leans masculine, but it would suit them more, rather than a woman. It's not heavy and manly though. I'd like this more in the greens range, with the rest of what's going on in it Thanks

Bought it for my mother. Although She didn't like it, I thought it smells lovely. It has a very fresh opening, then I smell citrus and jasmine. It has a bit of spicy notes to it which I think is why my mother disliked this perfume. I wouldn't wear it myself so we just use it as room spray. When people come to our house they would compliment how nice our home smell haha

Not too sure about the whole green tea thing. Worked for me when weather was very hot but I will not purchase again. Got a bit boring. I like the simplicity and honesty of L'Occitane fragrances, but green tea is very linear. However, their sale staff are lovely - all over the world. Never had a bad experience. So will investigate others fragrances from the range.

I was looking for a longer lasting version of thé vert Yves Rocher. And this is it but very weak though. I have tried the Roger and Gallet which is a bit sour and doesn't last more than one hour. I loooooooove this parfume, very very fresh and even if people pretend it smells like their newer version with bigarade...Wrong!! This is plain and simple green tea.

My absolute favorite fragrance. I purchased several bottles when it was discontinued. I kept them stashed away and when I finished my last bottle I was so depressed. I've tried and tried to find a replacement but haven't had any luck. I even searched in Paris, France for something similar but nothing compares to the original scent. Please bring it back!

Nice sharp green tea cologne-like fragrance. The bitter orange is pretty prominent, but I guess the citrus overall is. I would only wear this to feel refreshed after a shower or a hot day, or before going to bed. Really clean and the green tea is much more intense here than in other green tea perfumes like Arden's or Bvlgari's.

NEW PACKAGING Just giving everyone a heads up - on October 1, 2025, L'Occitane globally relaunched this scent in new bottle as part of their reimagined and minimalist "Les Classiques" collection. The formula of the fragrance has not changed. Hope this helps!
