Verveine Menthe

I've used verveine La Occitane various eau de Toilettes over the years, but the menthe version is by far my favorite. I don't think it came out 2018 though because I've had bottles of this a few years BEFORE 2018.🤔 This is a refreshing beautiful verbena scent with wonderful herbal mint. I've had this scent in other forms such as their milk lotion and shower gel but the EDT is the most refreshing of the forms. It is uncomplicated citrus and mint, no additional florals to ruin it. Ideal for the summer heat, cooling to the skin, and also great for repeling pesky mosquitos in the height of summer. This menthe version is actually available in the UK site but unfortunately not in the US 💔site. I've only found it on Ebay for ridiculous prices. 😩

It's weird that this is a 2018 release - I've had my bottle since 2013. I remember when I bought it because it was just after my sister moved here from California and we went perfume shopping together at L'Occitane. I picked up Verveine Menthe, and she got a bottle of Fleur Cherie. I was at the tail end of my lemon perfume phase. I know Verbena Sorbet was a verbena release they had in 2012, but my bottle clearly says Verveine Menthe, and looks exactly like the one in the Fragrantica photo. Did a time traveller put this bottle in the L'Occitane store that day? What a hilariously boring premise for a sci-fi show this would be. Anyway - Verveine Menthe, assuming mine smells the same as this 2018 version, is an effervescent aromatic citrus. It's tart, fresh, and smells like lemon and lime (lime is not listed in the notes, but it's there). The mint is more of a background player — I suspect it's what is giving this fragrance its effervescence. A cool breeze blowing on a balmy day. The mint isn't as obvious as it is in say, Herba Fresca. It's a true, refreshing citrus fragrance with none of the household cleaner vibes that often haunt lemony scents. It's a casual summer scent for sure, and might even cool you down a few degrees. It makes me want to put on a floral dress and espadrilles and drink lime rickeys in the park. It's not huge on projection, but it's no skin scent either. Longevity is short. I don't use it as often as I should, but every time I do I think, "I should wear this more."

Of the Verbena flankers this is a standout. The mint is fresh and lively and the myrtle really anchors the scent and adds a lovely and mysterious whisper. I was working for L’Occitane when this launched and it was touted as a cooling fragrance. Pop it in your fridge for a real treat - it’s indeed very cooling and this helps make it less linear as the base takes much longer to develop when you keep it chilled. A love for me, just wish it had more longevity.

Smells like lemon drops. Not so much mint and longevity is a little lacking but price-wise it's ok.

They ended up with less because the mint here is weak. This brand should have nailed the mint well, but it fell flat — original verbena is better.

Wait!... So you mean the mint verbena is back?
