Aire Loewe

I love the green but that very quickly fades on me and what is left is a strange scent that I can't really take. It is reminiscent of Dior's J'adore which is one of my 'can't stands' when I smell it on anybody. I remember being on holiday in Spain as a teenager in the 80s and smelling bottles of what I now know must have been cheap copies of the obviously very popular Aire. Thanks to member Vertigo for giving me a chance to smell this though. UPDATE: After all that and wierdly, this perfume has grown on me! Even though I love the top notes and am not so sure of what remains (though can't tell why from looking at the notes here), something draws me to put this on every day! I think this is a very good quality perfume.

Loewe Aire is my all time favorite fragrance, and the one people literally stop me on the street to comment upon. If you favor green aldehydes, you’ll love this one. This is a gorgeous chypre fragrance in the green/floral category. Chypres are my forever favorite fragrances because of their complexity. They can skew more animalic (with musk or leather undertones) or more floral or more green... but oakmoss and aldehydic notes are always present and are what make a chypre a chypre. This one opens fresh, floral and green ... or does she? Yes, the floral and green are unmistakably there, but the chypre complexity is immediately there as well, bringing with it a note of elegance and sophistication.

Got an old sample and its very gorgeous for me, its powdery and green, the powderyness its very dominant, makes this very special for me, then the combination of the greens and the incense and thye amber its very pretty, in the end i can smell all the citrus notes!!! Its a very pretty perfume very fresh but the powderyness makes it so sophisticated i really loved and i need a bottle for me, i dont get the baby wipes at all like omg, and its not really that soapy. i would use it for those summer dress days its so beautiful.

Looking at the Perfume Pyramid one will assume it is very busy fragrance, when in fact it is just lovely and simple, and all notes are co-working well so this fragrance smells unique. It reminds me of my youth...when my auntie brought back from Spain lots of fragrances and one of them was Aire Loewe. Now I own one small bottle of this fantastic fragrance and when I wish to chill I spray Loewe. It also reminds me of Barcelona...where you can smell it on the streets, in the Spanish air when you pass elegant Spanish woman.

Aire Loewe and Calandre are my two favorite feminine floral-citrus fragrances. Perfectly balanced green-citrus top notes and rose/iris/carnation heart notes. I haven't worn them side-by-side, but they evoke the same scent memories in me, and when I look at the scent pyramids, there is a lot of overlap. This is my signature summer scent. Great for Southern Europe lovers of all things Mediterranean. Suits a more olive skin. Is the antithesis or anything mild and meek and English. Incredibly inviting, confident, refreshing, alluring, fresh, clean and sexy. For someone who takes care of their summer appearance.

Un succès en Espagne depuis son lancement en 1985. Le flacon n'a d'ailleurs pas changé depuis cette date. Des aldéhydes, en veux-tu en voilà, pour une composition très sensuelle, ensoleillée et persistante. Belle harmonie entre les notes fruitées de départ et le cœur floral ( jasmin sour bien travaillé).

Please don't believe department stores sellers when they tell you this perfume is discontinued. It is still in production, but you have to put more effort to get it. It is available in most Loewe stores. Or you can search for a vintage bottle, although the new one smells Divine.

I recently fell in love with Aire --- an incredibly addictive thick, bitter, medicinal shot of sunshine. Pungent and smooth and refreshing and contradictory. Like an herbal tincture brewed by monks 1200 years ago that I want to consume in midwinter to dispel foul humors.

it's really a shame not to find more about this fragrance market ... really good, fresh but at the same time romantic. I love it

I’m on the fence about Aire by Loewe: generally, I can say that I like it, but only for very specific moments of the year, when it’s not too cold or too hot, and the stars align in the proper way (or rather, when my body chemistry is right, I suppose) for me to spritz on this grande dame perfume. On the whole, green perfumes aren’t really my thing, and neither are aldehydes, both things that Aire has in spades, but here I enjoy them... I think it could be nostalgia: I tend to associate this scent with my childhood, even though I can’t recall anyone around me who used Aire as her signature perfume. I also really enjoy the soapy element among its top notes, which for some reason I don’t find in perfumes as often I’d like. On the minus side, I have to say there’s something prickly and severe about this scent that I can’t put my finger on, but it makes for an uncomfortable experience when temperatures rise or drop beyond a certain point. Also, in Spain Aire by Loewe is often associated with a certain stereotype of haughty older woman, who mostly belongs to another era and who no longer cares whether she’s liked or not, and this has influenced how I feel about it. This isn’t necessarily a bad thing, in my mind: sometimes this is the exact state of mind I want to evoke, and that’s when I reach for Aire. I still have a bottle with a little Aire left, and I’m in no hurry to finish it, nor to let it go: to me this is one of those perfumes for occasional personal enjoyment. I would not recommend buying this blind, much less for a gift (which is how this perfume ended up in my collection).

This one is really a chameleon. My impression of the initial spray was yellow flowers with a bit of citrus, which seems to dissipate quickly. I can't get over the number of notes listed in the profile and I seem to find hints of many of them. There are so many facets to this - freshness, woodiness, and I guess greenness - I'm unschooled in green and aldehydes in fragrances. None of the flowers, citrus, or woody notes are over powering but they harmonize and support each other seamlessly. I sense carnation, then maybe some jasmine or lily, it seems to change over time. How can this be earthy, fresh, herby, and a bit powdery, smoky or musky simultaneously without clashing badly? I like the subtlety of this, nicely done. There are so many additional Olivier Cresp creations I can't wait to try.

On a quest again to find a summer perfume???? Surely I am, since very bored of my go for dkny energizing fragrance as well as Davidoff Cool Water for ladies.. Today, I am testing Marjolaine, and this perfume, and putting Marjolaine back in the closet! Aire is back in the liked section, and maybe very maybe it will be loved this summer if it behaves well in the heat of a city of Budapest. As in, does not turn into a hay stag smell for rabbits in a pine forest. One can hope!!!!

That's a beauty. What a shame that I can't find it in my country, have last few drops of it. It's kinda fresh but with warm undertones. Dry down gives an expensive soap smell which I like very much. Important thing about this one - you need to have right chemistry to wear it, otherwise Aire would smell sour and unpleasant (unfortunately on my friend it does smell so). Very intimate fragrance. Olivier Cresp made (another) great job with this one.

Aire Loewe is a rich and complex fragrance. Maybe you will not differentiate each note, but the blend is absolutely beuatiful, fresh and still grounded. Reach for this scent if ypou are looking for a green and sophisticated perfume. It does evoke freedom in a lightly way. It is sutiable for all times and it can match any occasion, it is versatile.

Really lovely powdery green citrus ideal for spring. I can understand the baby wipes comparison, but only when first sprayed. It settles into something much more complex, with the powdery note taking a back seat but still present. The florals open up for me in the dry down. Certainly a more traditional feminine scent. Very fresh and uplifting.

Surprisingly great. Started out as an old-school splash, heavy on the alcohol, like Jean Nate, but dried down on skin to a lovely melody that I can't really describe except very pleasing: fresh and elegant. Just wish this was sold in the U.S.; I could only find a mini online. Maybe I would have better luck at a duty free in Europe?

Aire is a terrific, green and lemony perfume. It has a slightly bitter / confusing note that makes me love it more for its complexity. The basil mixed with the lemon, jasmine, that eventually give way to smoky cedar and oakmoss...creating a sweet but quiet and understated fragrance...I need to get another bottle!

This super fragrance conjures up sunshine and warm evenings under the stars. It is great to use anytime and for any occasion. It puts a smile on your face and a chuckle in your heart.

Powdery florals. Classic and elegant. Can’t pick up in any particular note, feels well blended and balanced. Pretty but not a must have for me.

It starts powedery,a bit more etherial than L'air du Temps.

Aire is definitely a green family fragrance. Opens up with bitter basil, green notes and aldehydes, some softly woody, powdery undertone can be felt beneath. I can also feel the marigold very clearly. As I ordered samples, I thought I am going to love Aire, I love soapy greens with lily of the valley, but to me Aire is a bit disappointing. Very old school, not an interpretation, but almost a vintage cheap pick. The basil and marigold are ruining it a lot to me. I don't feel as much of the aldehydes and lily of the valley as I would prefer. It's bitter and too literal.

I felt immediately a soapy smell on its top note and the smell itself was very familiar and friendly. It's an obvious composition to give a classy image. But the impression can be to far, like an old lady smell, which was a comment from my husband.

This is the most 1985 of all the fragrances I've tried! Hah. It's very aldehydic and very green and very soapy. Actually feels more 1975, if I'm being honest. It seems like it's a very competent example of the genre. I just hate the genre.

Old school green citrus, lots of aldehydes. I love it! I don't know why, normally I hate aldehydes. It's like a fizzy candy. Or a bathbomb. :D Been buying too many of those lately. Very enjoyable :)

Aire hits like the snap of old-radio static, starring a woman with curls, her white dress starched within an inch of its life. Most prominently the aldehydes surge forward—bright but irritatingly cold, bitter. Not the champagne fizz kind, but sharp, soapy, almost antiseptic, like inhaling too deeply in a room scrubbed almost obsessively. Then the uber-vintage composition unfurls. Oakmoss, dense and unyielding, not the plush, velvety kind but the bracing, near-acrid sort that clings to the bones of chypres past. It grips, almost suffocating, a relic of another time when perfumes announced themselves in bold, noxious strokes. There’s a freshness, but not the dew-soft breath of greenery present in so many of Loewe's others—this is bitter air, wind through dried leaves, astringent and unkind and dated. Something herbal lingers, shadowy, but it’s hard to grasp beneath the aldehydic glare. Aire is, too put it lightly, an austere, imposing, relentless scent. It wears you, not just literally but also in the way of wearing you out.

I think, like with Ma Griffe, or Vent Verte, you have to have the right chemistry for this fragrance. The opening is fresh and green, and a little bitter. It's quite uplifting actually. I do detect the aldehydes, green notes, citrus, and some jasmine. As it dries down, it becomes a leathery, slightly citric floral on me. At this point, I can't detect any of the individual floral notes. The closest thing I can compare it to is an opening similar to Vent Verte with a dry-down similar to (but much softer than) Libertine.

I ordered a 5ml sample as intrigued by the notes. The opening is very reminiscent of 80s and 90s colognes—fresh, sharp, and a bit retro, a scent I’d associate with older generations. As it dries down, it becomes more powdery, but overall, it’s not quite my style. While it’s well-crafted, the vintage vibe didn’t resonate with me.

(Review for the travel 15 ml bottle in the wooden case.) Boring. Such a lovely note pyramid, and such a dull result. Soapy, sharp but somehow inoffensive, it's a huge disappointment. Maybe something for corporate boardroom secretaries? No artistry, no allure. The biggest let down for me of 80s perfumery.

At first this is a promising fresh soapy scent that has a combo of green, cirtus and cleanliness. It however goes off kilter and smells cheap and hastily made. A throwback clean fregrance that is reminiscent of of dish soap and those little paper tree shaped car air freshener.

Ugh this is revolting alcohol and powder. Blind ordered a test vial - waste of $3. I had to shower and change my clothes after trying it out.

All I get is big time ALDEHYDES, of which I am NOT a fan. Big thumbs down for me.

Smells like baby wipes/baby powder..

Aire is quite the experience! I got a soft, airy feeling in the opening that reminded me of Jean Nate body splash (my grandma wore it, refreshing and soapy and associated with more mature women). This changed drastically to a more medicinal, herbal and savory scent, like a dirty martini with lots of olives. I blindly attribute this to the notes I am less familiar with, like galbanum, asafetida, and fenugreek. This lingers oddly before the freshness reemerges, this time less aldehydic and with more natural florals, like rose and the like. I got a hint of incense and wood, but mainly there continued to be a push-and-pull between the clean "Dove soap" vibe and bitter earthy greenness. It is more wearable than I would have thought, but be warned it is still old-fashioned in nature and forwardly feminine. So many vintage fragrances are insufferably strong, but this remains light and fresh despite its uniqueness.

Wow wait, am I reviewing the wrong perfume or do I just get the wrong juice in my bottle? I see many people hating on it and claiming how it is disappointing but I love it. LOVE IT in fact. Also another reason why I asked that question is because I do not smell any greens? It just smells powdery and soapy to me. Could be why it gets many boos because it may appeal as boring to some. A big YES for me though because I love powdery. If I want powdery, this better be the type of powdery I receive. Great and Perfect for everyday use because it's clean and fresh! Super white tee skinny jeans vibe, in the best way ever. If you want to wear this to work expecting to be seen (or in fact smell) like a girlboss, try consider something else. Verdict: A blind buy but super loved by me.

I was surprised to find myself wearing this today. It had been (another) blind buy, and based on the description I was really expecting something else. After applying it rather liberally to my pulse points I did spend a few moments smelling like household cleanser, but shortly thereafter it settled into a polite, clean scent that I immediately recognized as European. I realized I have smelled this on the woman beside me on the Barcelona metro, the lady behind me in line at the Polish supermarket, the housekeeper in my Romanian hotel. It's certainly not a traditional "old lady" scent, but rather it is, as of today, a middle-aged scent mainly being worn by women remembering their youth. I might set it aside for a spring day when I too am in my fifties...

I definitely have to thank the lady who sold this to me. This smells beautiful, just like what color yellow must smell like. I'd say it is Paco Rabanne Calandre's baby sister, less edgy, softer, fresher opening, but the same soapy-floral heavenly dry down. I risked a blind buy because I wanted to see how the nose of Angel and Light Blue would make use of aldehyde. I must say he really did well. Staying power is mighty impressive, 6 hours on my skin and it is still hanging on, getting stronger and better. Unlike other aldehyde fragrances, this isn't too formal and stuffy. It is flirty, airy, fresh, definitely lovable. I don't want to jinx it but I have a feeling that this will be a favorite of mine.

This is Rive Gauche with slightly different top notes. If you're missing Rive Gauche this will be a good substitute although the top notes aren't quite as strong. Actually I find this one more office friendly without the heavy duty top notes that some people aren't happy with. I like them both and still have some original Rive Gauche left but I actually wear this often at work. One spritz and I can smell it all day. Like Rive Gauche. Not an identical twin at the base, but definitely a fraternal twin. I was astounded the first time I tried it. Not knowing. I said oh my god it's Rive Gauche; who knew?!

Great fragrance. I love 7/Anónimo , Miami and Mar de Coral. So I became a fan wanting to try Loewes other fragrances. A co worker told me her favorite perfume is Aire. Finding out it’s also by Loewe I wanted to smell it despite being targeted for woman. Well the fragrance to me is so unisex and an uplifting day scent that men can wear. It’s like a clean green shampoo scent mixed with fruit loops. Very nice, inoffensive and perfect for any occasion. And now with the new conformity bottles of their fragrance line that don’t detail if it’s for men or women, the fragrance looks more unisex.

Aire is such a weird little gem. It's green, but it's not light. The fragrance has some heft to it in the style of 1980's fragrances. This is the green floral that came from the same era as Ungaro Diva and CK Obsession. It's not a delicate, whisper of a fragrance. Aire has vibes of other fragrances - there's something that reminds me of the most wearable Chanel and there's something that reminds me of Cabotine. Yet, it stands on its own as a complicated, slightly soapy, fragrance. Lovely and uncommon outside of Spain - it's one that feels a little bit dated but still quite wearable.

This is a lovely fragrance. It is green and citrusy, but also so light and fresh. Like a sophisticated summer's day. It is, however, a bit dated and powdery, and hard to find outside of Spain like someone else said. It's not one that I myself reach out for since it used to be my mom's signature scent over a decade ago. But I still like to keep it in my collection and smell it occasionally, since it is such a pleasant, familiar scent. It is very well-made and expect that it would perform great in the heat. Moderate longevity.

Just bought Aire while on vacation in Spain. It has a green, soapy/aldehydic freshness to it. It's very clean and refreshing, yet it is more a perfume than an eau fraiche. There is also a metallic quality that reminds me of Paco Rabanne's classic Calandre and YSL's Rive Gauche. I wouldn't say it smells modern, with the aldehydes there is really a classic vibe going on, yet the powdery clean trail might please younger customers as well. Aire has the feeling of a crisp white shirt.

Oh I like this. Fresh, slightly bitter opening, a bit aldehydic, some oakmoss, then citruses with some spice, soapy chypre-like, green but not sharply, and while refreshing, it carries itself with unyielding elegance. Somehow all of this is wrapped by a slight creaminess, which I love in every fragrance, and here it balances out the greenness. Airy, like the name suggests. They don't make complex fragrances like this anymore, balancing this plethora of ingredients took skill.

Air of Loewe, a perfume of spring station. I discovered it in these dates a few years ago, an arrow wound. It is in concrete moments when I estimate really the notes of this perfume that transports me and makes you feel so well. Nevertheless his magic does not work in the same way in my senses other days of the year, is as if only it was blooming in May. It if, once hooked you cannot allow putting on it day after day and it is lasting and soft ultimately.

I just adore this fragrance for the spring and summer. It's not always easy to get in the UK so I always stock up when I go to Spain. It's as much a classic as Chanel No5. It's quite inoffensive so if you prefer a more 'statement' perfume then this one isn't for you. It's fresh initially but dries down to a warmer tone and on me has good staying power. Love it!

Nothing like Aliage. Nothing like Givenchy III. Very Much like Calandre!! So seventies it makes me hear disco.1985? Maybe, but this smells like my glamorous aunt wearing Famolare platforms on her way to a nightclub with the Bee Gees blasting on the stereo in her maroon Monte Carlo. Sharp, green, very clean and bracing. It is a lovely scent!

I never appreciated this scent. It's been very popular where i live since its release in the eighties. It was the green fresh perfume of choice but I always found it too sharp. It's similar to Eau de Lancome but much sharper. It's very refreshing though, like fresh cut grass, and it lasts quite a while on your skin.

Summer 2011 I've bought a special edition, with a leather 'coat' on the bottle, 100 ml. In a perfume shop in Figueras, Spain. The city with the Salvador Dali museum and his nice collection of art. Like his paintings, old black car, furniture in the shape of the face of Marilyn Monroe. A nice and cosy museum.

I used to wear this scent in my student-days (20 years ago?). I remember it as an unusual crisp and green perfume with a hint of bitterness, closely related to "Wrappings" by Clinique and "Cristalle edp" by Chanel. Fresh but the opposite of boring. Nothing "old lady"-ish about it. More "strong woman"-like.
