Esencia Pour Homme 40 Aniversario

I had the original of this back in 1988 when I was around 17. At the time I was fascinated by it. It had so many stages until the final dry down, which was the best part. Wearing this fragrance was really a special experience. Not many modern day perfumes can pull off what the og was capable of. I never repurchased it, because in the States it was extremely hard to come by. If anyone has an old bottle and wants to sell, I am interested.

No perfume shown as similar is like this. There's something in its content that I can't put my finger on. An intoxicating scent rises from my neck. unique and sexy.

A true hidden gem. Why no one talks about this!

Real gem! Nothing but AMAZING and iconic!

Something familiar, lots of air, diluted Drakkar? Kind of nothing, where’s the essence? Even worse than what I consider less successful ones like Xeryus or Pour Lui. It’s hard to even approach this as having any concrete character. However, it’s darker than those two mentioned; it’s more like Drakkar, Eau de Minthe, Caractere, but not the high ones like Flannel, One Man, etc.

This is a true gem and a masterpiece. But I'am talking about the original 1988 formulation. The newest edition in the sleek design bottle is different especially in the opening. After around 30 years I can exactly remember how it smells. Unfortunately the new formulated edition starts with a weak watery synthetic citrus smell that is not refreshing at all. The dry down has the original DNA. But I am glad I could purchase the original Esencia in the cute green round bottle with the golden cap presented in a lovely box with the vern leave as a symbol for one of the best green aromatic fougere fragrances ever created. It's so good right from the start. Green, fresh, spicy and herbal. Very uplifting and refreshing. It stays like that for at least an hour. Then the true magic happens. The green aromatic spices and flowers take over and a calming very natural almost healing scent surrounds your body and keeps you in that energetic mode for hours. It's a good but not beastly performing eau de toilette so you can spray generously. It's like walking through a fresh pine forrest where the rain has stopped and a gentle sunshine is appearing through the top of the trees. The complexity is amazing and the designer has made such a perfect blend of the more than 30 mentioned notes that this scent keeps that fascinating character. Old school Spanish perfumery that led to timeless masterpieces like Aqua Brava, Quorum and Heno De Pravia. Esencia is for me the crown on that great perfume and cologne tradition from the Iberian Peninsula. I am so glad I got this old school gem on time and wil treasure it like a jewel.

There is a saying that a man should not only father a child, build a house, and plant a tree in his lifetime, but also embrace a tree at least once. I used to think the act itself might feel a little underwhelming, but from an olfactory standpoint, this fragrance makes the idea feel completely justified. This is not a quiet fragrance. It has a strong presence, strong projection, and a serious trail. It feels cinematic, dramatic, and almost larger-than-life, like a widescreen forest scene filled with smoke, leather, and green intensity. The opening is bold and aromatic, filled with pine needles, mossy earth, herbs, smoke, and leather. There is a natural forest-like freshness here, but it is not light or airy. It feels deep, wet, rugged, and mature. Subtle floral sweetness moves quietly in the background, adding refinement without softening the masculine character. Fans of old-school green fragrances such as Polo Green, Quorum, Paco Rabanne Pour Homme, and Van Cleef & Arpels Pour Homme will feel right at home with this one.

I do not know exactly why is the reason of bottle change, think it could be commemorative`s reason of 40 year`s launch of the fragance or something, but it ́s exactly the same juice than the old one, and i have to say i am so happy that at last i could put my hands on this marvellous Fragance, i am a complete rookie in this matter, but all i could say Feels really good to wear this, very Potent Goooood longevity and even greater projection, i have no words to express my happines, guys if like any product of this house gotta have it, not specially affordable but it won`t break your banks account either(and of course there are oher even more expensive). They claim that more than 200 Notes are in there, can`t figure it out how they have made such a wonderful job because none of notes fight among them, it ́s perfctly Blended in my opinion just a few drops of this and that ́it you ́re good to go.

What is it about this frag that got only 1 review??? It seems so appealing with all the green and conifer notes. But seriously not much else I can find out about this gem? Ah, I finally figured out this is just a special edition due to the anniversary and the unique bottle. Had a chance this week to try the original and it is a masterpiece of a Fougere. So green and old school. Will definitely be picking up a bottle in the Fall.
