Loewe 001 Man

Loewe’s obligatory entrant into the men’s iris craze originating with Dior Homme. So yes, comparisons will naturally abound. However, this should not be dismissive: all credit to Dior for spawning a genre! And as so many other houses have offered their interpretations of masculine iris fragrances, often with great results, this is no exception. Modern Loewe men’s fragrances have a signature base - I’ve detected it in their Solo, 7, and now 001 lines. It makes the house unique and provides a continuity through all their offerings. I detect it in 001. Atop this base sits a refined spiced iris with a gentle touch of musky woodiness. Carrot seeds are a strange note but I can imagine the scent here- perhaps by force of suggestion- but combined with the ambrette gives this a clean-yet-earthy quality that really works well. This is gentle and refined in character and will suit the office or anyone wanting to smell discreetly well-groomed. If you already have a few iris-forward fragrances this would not be necessary to own, but if you are seeking one, this is a worthy contender! Another lovely offering from Loewe. Edit on longevity- 5 sprays at 9 am Received comment on how good I smelled at 8 pm from someone behind me on the stairs. NOT a bad performer.

I've been low-key obsessed with this fragrance. It is 1000% Unisex, so don't let the "001 Man" turn you off. This one is super under-rated. ...I just got to sample Byredo Gypsy Water (which is quite lovely itself) but it is comical to me how much better Loewe 001 Man is, compared to Gypsy Water. They are very similar. 001 Man has a better, brighter citrus opening. It's not too sharp though at all. I'm not exactly a citrus person, but it's fragrances like these that make me crave these citrus notes. It's addictive. And the drydown is so similar to Gypsy Water, but it is definitely stronger and lasts longer on the skin. Starting to really see how some fragrances/brands are over-hyped, while others aren't even looked at. Which is such a shame. Probably due to (Loewe's) marketing and PR not being up to snuff with others (Byredo's)... Also want to say how impressed I am by Loewe 001 Woman, which definitely is more feminine. It is a creamy sweetened white floral. It reminds me of something similar Blanche Bete (another hyped fragrance right now). Loewe 001 Woman is the one renting space in my head though - not Blanche Bete!. Both are beautiful though, not dupes, but just in the same family of fragrances.

Loewe 001 Man by Loewe comes across as a soft, woody, powdery scent with a strong musky iris feel. I mainly pick up cardamom, vetiver, and especially violet, with the violet standing out the most and giving it that smooth, slightly airy elegance. It is clean, but not your typical Aventus or Bleu de Chanel type of clean. This is more refined, less repetitive, and feels more natural and composed rather than loud or attention seeking. Performance is good. I actually enjoy how it performs, especially considering it did not disappoint me in Omani summer heat. It holds up well while still keeping that soft, close and elegant presence. This fragrance is not trying too hard, but it still feels unique. It has that effortless quality to it. It reminds me of clean summer days, like stepping out of the shower after a morning swim, wearing fresh linens. There is something very classic and comforting about it. Overall, a musky, iris leaning, woody powdery scent that is clean, refined, and signature scent worthy. This is one I keep coming back to and re buying

KI find many Iris centred scents are "remindful" of DIORHomme...hmmm should we begin clicking aqcua di bergamotto and argumi amari di sicilia everytime we smell bergamot??! Come on people... If anything this is parts of CK Man with some Shiseido ZEN for Men with a slight dusting of Dior Homme's sexy powdery floral-tilted masculinity. Just got my double box 001 Man & 001 Woman out of storage and wore it all day (seven spritzes, two on clothing) and seven hours later was refreshed by reapplying before heading out for a dinner. That four sample sprays kept me pleasantly scented, and when others got close the compliments came, until bedtime. I have yet to layer these two but my mom smelled heavenly wafting Woman with it's cozy sensual Jasmin vanilla frosting over the same DNA as Man (bergamot, sandalwood and white musk). At retail I would say "probably not" but for he price beauty encounter has this listed...perhaps. Smell swell and be well. More later... GP xox

True everyday wear perfection. Quickly bumped Alto Astral from signature to evening scent (they are not similar). The opening of 001 EDP is a lightly sparkling bergamot, lasts a few mouth watering moments, then the powdery, earthy Ambrette, blonde woods, skin musks and violet unfolds. Dry down is your skin but better, tinged with a sheer amber (not the sugary or too synthetic kind). Niche quality for a very good price. A timeless, natural and chic number that could be enjoyed by anyone and likely wouldn’t offend anyone. Haven’t tried it throughout the year yet, but I don’t see why it couldn’t be worn anytime. It’s ‘clean’ without being boring or ‘white musky’. Can’t speak to longevity just yet, but the sillage is polite, which is ideal for everyday wear I’d say. In a room filled with attention grabbing, cloyingly sweet ambrox bombs, this stands out. Will need to be sure of longevity (not sillage) before giving a final mark, but could be a perfect 10.

I love it. A slightly sweet and woody powder bomb in the vane of Prada Cargo de Nuit, Prada Luna Rossa Black, Mugler Oriental Express, Midnight in Paris Van Cleef & Arpels and Black Bvlgari. The outstanding notes are the carrot seeds and ambrette. There is a subtle cumin-like accord or note that I wish was not there but it is subtle and it is not strong enough to create a "BO" smell. It dies out after about 5-10 minutes. I would describe the mid and dry down as creamy and butter smooth, lead by sandalwood and ambrette. Longevity and projection seem about average to me. This is right up my alley, and much more affordable and obtainable than most of the fragrances I mentioned above. A definite love for me. I would say it is a safe blind buy if you already know you like powdery fragrances like Prada Luna Rossa Black.

This is an A+ fragrance for any man. It is complex and simple at the same time. It basically takes something “B grade” like Calvin Klein Obsession, and then elevates it to the niche level. Loewe 001 Man is not a beast mode, but an everyday mode fragrance. It will still get noticed, and it does smell like men’s cologne. So, don’t think that this is one of those low key “under the radar” kind of fragrances. The beauty of 001 Man is that it is a double edged sword. It can be refined and classy enough to be business polite (if you go light on the sprays), and at the same time it has enough appeal to be romantic. You can wear this when you go about your day with the confidence that you can stand tall and turn on the charm at will.

Returning for review #2 because I love this so much. It’s my signature scent. A ‘white t-shirt’ all-rounder that isn’t boring. I don’t know how iris isn’t listed, it’s definitely primarily a carrot seed - bergamot - cardamom - iris - sandalwood - ambrette mix. So chic and I always get compliments. Perfect sillage and longevity. It’s not a necessarily a distinctive / instantly recognisable profile, but it’s done so so well. Could easily be £300+ a bottle for the quality. I don’t often say this, but an elixir iteration of this one would be awesome. Very unisex. Not gatekeeping because I want people to buy it so it doesn’t get discontinued haha.

Imagine more woody version of Prada Infusion d'Homme. I get a comparison to Dior Homme original, but for me it's a stretch, there are some similarities, but Loewe 001 is not a clone. Loewe has a woody, musky (ambrette) background which for me is sooo beautiful. I was hooked immediately! I would say this could be a good substitute for Celine Bois Dormant wich is much more expensive. Quality is top notch.

Warm, musky, soft, airy, welcoming, elegant, non-offensive, beautiful, versatile in all seasons and occasions, high quality, natural-smelling, powdery, grey-like. Definitely quality like other fragrances from LVMH. I can see how this scent could be similar to Dior Homme. If Dior Homme leans more masculine, this leans more androgynous. I love it.

Really nice scent. Reminds me a lot of Dior Homme. Creamy and floral, slightly woody and powdery. Violet, Cardamom and Cypress are the notes that stand out in this fragrance. Very versatile, wearable all year round and by all ages. Decent sillage and longevity. Contemporary, clean and elegant. Another winner by Loewe.

I am so happy I found this, for me it’s up there in versatility with the likes of Sauvage and Bleu de Chanel..... different of course but so nice that I just want to smell it all day.... lasts 4-6 hours on my skin, projection is the only downside but I don’t care I like it that much... it’s my new signature scent.

I was in their boutique playing around with the fragrances, and this one stopped me right in my tracks. Soft citrusy-powdery scent that dries down into a mellow, creamy and musky woody undertones. Understated elegance bottled in a perfume.

Smells like wood, citrus, and a hint of carrots. Very pleasant. Also pretty versatile in the coldish months. Frank Ocean allegedly likes the female version of this perfume, so if it’s good enough for him, then it’s good enough for me.

This one is so good that I had to have a bottle. It's similar to Dior homme Intense but in a different way that is not redundant. Perfect for romantic situations.

This is perfect for work. Elegant but low profile and my partner loves the smell. More of a fall/winter fragance in my opinion. I have the Eau de Parfum version.

A very pleasant sandalwood scent 8/10

I have had very mixed experiences with this fragrance. And yes, I checked the bottle each time to make sure it was the EDP. My first wear was from a bottle at the Loewe store on the Passeig de Gracia in Barcelona and I loved it. I definitely got the lipsticky Dior Homme vibe, but elevated and more niche. I felt an immediate connection and felt I had to have it. But I’m one who needs time before pulling the trigger on a full bottle, so I tried at a discounter nearby a few days later and struggled to smell it, so I held off. The third time I tried was at the airport leaving Spain a few days later, and I also had a hard time smelling it, but I was coming down with a cold, so I decided to find a smaller size or decant. I ordered a travel size online and it arrived today. With this bottle, I get the citrus in the opening and then it all fades quickly. Such a shame considering how much I loved it the first time. I’m hoping with repeated wear it will come around again. We’ll see what happens.

I found this plain bottle on the shelf at Nordstrom, my favorite department store. I've never seen it there before. Hm. So, Nordstrom being Nordstrom, I filled myself one of their little sample sprayer bottles to try it out. It smells nice - musky, woodsy - but there is no WOW factor at play, here. And it doesn't really seem to assert itself on my skin - I suspect projection is virtually nil. So while I like it, I must admit that it's kind of a personality free sort of scent. It falls into the category of "safe for work," which is the same place one of my favorite scents, Prada Infusion d'Homme, inhabits. But the Prada has a much more welcoming radiance... I always feel well-groomed wearing it. This Loewe scent is just kind of there but doesn't really do anything for me. Once again, I like it, but, no.

This is a comfortable yet elegant atmosphere ... The launch really reminds me of Dior homme. Dry, dusty, but woody and musky ... And then it changes. Come with me a floral, aromatic chord like Pierre Cardin-Legende! And the mixture of these two makes it special, but still a stable masculine at 001. Great durability and noticeable sillage which is not intrusive ..... The Loewe House knows how to create modern and yet classic, but he also watches that this fragrance is close to the men's comfort zone! Nice work, very nice .....

Starts in somewhat muted tones – dry, earthy, grey, almost like the bottle cap. Dust on sunlit concrete. Nothing glossy, and nothing sweet. Over time, something softer begins to surface. Musk wraps around gently. Warm, clean, close to the skin. Needs maceration to show its best. Straight from the box, the performance can feel underwhelming. But once it settles in, there's a unique depth to it. Lasts about 8 to 9 hours on my skin with intimate sillage.

Like the reviewer below, this was more fresh than I expected, but I’m not mad at it. I definitely get all the top notes- bright bergamot, zesty mandarin, with a hint of spice from the cardamom. The mid/dry down gets more ambery and woody, reminds me of a much lighter, more powdery Another 13. I wish there was more projection and strength, but it’s very wearable and inoffensive.

Smells like Dior Homme’s first formulation, dry, woody, and powdery.. I personally prefer this one to Dior Homme because the lipstick note is toned down, dryer and fresher. It’s a mature modern man fragrance, very safe, office friendly, all season, good smelling fragrance. If you thinking of buying Dior Homme i’d recommend you try this one first.

I sprayed EDT and EDP on my skin when shopping and I think both are leaning feminine. This is a very comforting scent, but I’d prefer on myself and not on my man. Like a warm hug, very light and not long lasting. If you’re looking for more masculine scent, this is not it.

A bit dark and fruity at first, I'm assuming because of the cardamom and citruses. After a bit, it becomes more softer and creamier and I can mostly pick out the violet and musk. The violet vaguely reminds me of DHI and Prada L'homme. Nice stuff but not worth the price.

Imagine a woodier, more aromatic version of Dior Homme. Dryer, and less balmy. Very polite fragrance, not a projection beast, but sticks around for a very long time. It's been about 15 hours since I sprayed it on my arm and I'm still picking it up.

I like it, I would love to smell this on my husband! Mature and modern at the same time. I detected some powdery notes that I associate with tranquillity and meditative estate of mind.

This is like a mix between Gypsy water and Dior Homme, and I actually prefer this to both of them. This is a must have in my opinion, given how affordable it is.

Smooth, slightly powdery, and quietly elegant. More of a subtle skin scent than a statement fragrance. I don't like or dislike it. It's OK.

Why would a man want to smell like baby powder? This would work great on a woman, however. Not for me.

A flatter, thinner Dior Homme-ish type smell. Which is fine for me personally as I am not a fan of powdery, lipsticky fragrances. The problem, however, is that this also comes with a cardboard or pizza crust-like accord...at least this is what I get on my skin. And that's what disqualifies this fragrance for me.

I received a sample from Barney's...I have to say I won't be buying a bottle. Low sillage/longevity to begin with. The scent is ok but nothing special. It stayed a skin scent to me about 30 minutes after applying. I get a little woody, carrot smells and a hint of pizza I guess. lol

All I can smell is musk with some powder and light spices. Way too musky for my taste. It's only similar to Dior Homme in the air but up close on paper or on skin it smells like bug spray. Lasts for ages. A hard pass for me. It is perplexing to me how some people can find this similar to Gypsy Water in any shape or form...

Surprisingly similar to Dior Homme Original. Here the bergamot pops a little more and there's something slightly more warm and woody in the heart. Personally I like DHO more, which feels cooler and earthier from the cocoa, with a more crisp and cutting iris note which also lends itself a more lipstick-like texture/aroma. But, this is a great alternative is you're like me and can't find DHO in the US very easily. Performance is much, much better than DHO too. This is more generally powdery and woody and my only problem is that it doesn't inspire anything that magical in me. It almost feels stereotypically "perfumey" in the dry-down which I get from others in the Loewe line. I smell DHO and I swoon, but here I feel like my brain is telling me I SHOULD like this, but I just find the warmer wood and musk notes to be a little boring, and the powder has no definition to it. It feels more like an ambiguous cloud wheras DHO feels like a veil of delicate, earthy flowers. It's still not bad, but more like a rough sketch of DHO that hasn't been as perfected. In fact the whole Loewe man's sample collection feels like a bunch of imitators of perfumes I've smelled elsewhere. I get some guerlain, some creed-like thing, etc. Kinda dissapointing honestly. edit: bought it! Originally I called it stereotypical, but it grew on me and now I find it very comfortable and in line with some of my other favorite ambrette/iris based scents. Comparison is the thief of joy, as they say, and perhaps DHO comparisons rob this of more objective reviews. Something about the light freshness of mandarin and cypress, and the soft iris and violet dusted woods is supremely comfortable. Overall it's a woody floral musk that doesn't project a huge amount but stays on clothes for a good while and allows me to catch trails of it through over half the day. I'm not always a fan of this kind of powdery profile, but when I feel the need for something soft, gentle, relaxing, and approachable, this works really well where other musks have failed. Wearing it reminds me of wearing Another 13 actually, with their subtly juicy ambrette accords - one with pear, one with mandarin, but both inspiring feelings of clean white linen sheets.

It opens with sparkling bright citrus and a hint of cardamom. The majestic Indian sandalwood is the center of this noble composition. Its dry side is highlighted by a unique wooden rope made of cedar and cypress. Vetiver accompanied by carrot seeds brings a bit of freshness, balance, originality and masculinity to the heart of the fragrance. The base notes of the composition, such as the base of an imposing tree, bring the smell of moist earth from which a spring patchouli emerges. The creamy and sensual texture is driven by velvety musk, luxurious animalic ambrette and the iridescent facet of violet. Dry, warm, luminous, woody, musky, powdery perfume, sometimes like a rough leather, sometimes like a soft velvet, and at times during its evolution it brings me a feeling of something herbal, it refers to Dior Homme Intense. Delicious perfume and powerful performance.

I wish to speak with the two people who think this smells like The Tragedy of Lord George. I want to ask you both about a lot of different things, but specifically what type of olfactory experiences you have throughout life. Because this is so far from that fragrance, that my mind simply can not comprehend how you two got there. Side note: This reminds me a lot of Dior Homme in the opening and then Rochas Man in the dry down. The Tragedy of Lord George!? How? Why?

This is an amazing scent and defo get the same memories of when I smelt Lord George Penhaligons That creamy powdery woods you get! This is groundbreaking for me, I’m really in love with it! Loewe ESSENZA remains my number 1 but this is close! Not daring nor is disliked by anyone I’ve had smell it on me! Big compliment getter and best time would be around autumn winter - haven’t tried the spring summer yet, might be abit heavy but I’ll keep you up to date!

عطر 001 لوئوه یک عطر ساختار شکن در خانواده لوئوه به حساب می آید. می توان گفت یه عطر دیزاینر با کیفیت تقریبا نیش.در وحله اول پس از اسپری دقیقا شما رو یاده دیور هوم با همان بوی پودری لوازم آرایش مانند که به خاطر بنفشه ایجاد شده می اندازد ولی پس از گذر تقریبا نیم ساعت یواش یواش بویش به سمت بوی هل می رود و تقریبا بوی هل مطلق می دهد. خلاصه عطر خوبیه و ارزش خرید داره اگر خوشتون بیاد. برای استفاده روزانه بکار نمی ره و به نظر من بیشتر رسمی و اداریه.

The cardamom is a tad heavy off the top but that quickly melts into a catch-all "spicy" accord mixed with a powdery (veryyyyy slightly smokey) creamy sandalwood scent. Hints of violet. More of a warm musk to, let's say, Another 13. A crowd pleasing, signature scent worthy purchase. Works just as well in the office as it does on a dinner date. SIDE NOTE!!! This goes SOOOO well with Molecule 01 (but then again...what doesn't).

Still smells pretty good, as that mix that Jeremy has referenced are pretty good sauxes. And the price isn't that bad at all. When I get back in the game.......This will be considered. Nordstroms have it. Maybe I'll get a friend or 2 to hook me up. And I like the woman as well....more if it didnt have the floral. But first spray was pretty good.!!!
