Loewe Solo Mercurio

So far the best new masculine scent I’ve found in 2020. (Designer brand) The Loewe Solo line among all those key flankers, there was never one which could successfully hit on me. So thought it may be another Loewe Deja-vu, but I was totally wrong. Mercurio has many interesting notes that the rest of Solos do not own. I could not stop sniffing my blotter and my wrists after the first trial. In the end I just had to buy it, its bottle also is one of the finest in this franchise. Matte black plays with the transparent glass. Simply loving every detail in this composition. Grassy, spicy... sparkling yet dark. Amazing contradictions. There is an extra personality that crisscrosses between Designer labels and niche labels. It has a sharp beginning with multi-facets and the drydown makes it cleaner as the base of amber, musk and tobacco come out. Bursts out with an unique cooling effervescent uplift that floats over its masculine serene base, I don`t know why it keeps remind me of the Lancôme Miracle Homme L’aquatonic but with deeper intensity and richer variety. It is powerful, but at the same estival to me. How strange. Longevity is great, sillage is good. Opulent but refreshing, contradictions in oh-so-many aspects. One of the strongest 2020 best masculine summer scent candidates to me. 9/10

Very unique flanker .. This is an EDP with the same DNA signature yet very different .. a fig leaf based fragrance well blended with smooth tobacco and humble sweetness .. Simple yet complex, very long lasting 12+ and fills the whole room .. This works the best in colder weather night out to really experience it .. Not blind buy for sure ~ but if you're familiar with Solo Loewe's DNA and u like fig leaf you will love this .. * A hidden gem.

This makes me think of a slightly dusty historic house in Havana or Key West with the windows open. There are wet fig leaves, oranges and white flowers outside. Inside there are traces of dust, beeswax and tobacco. Its unique with good projection and longevity and fair price for the quality. Unfortunately I can't think of many occasions when I would want to smell like this.

Sunshine in a bottle. Warm, clean, and floral. Longevity is pretty great too, and you can do a few sprays and it has presence. I absolutely love this fragrance.

To me this smells like a lighter version of Solo Cedro. I get that same woody nuance that Cedro has. Cedro, the cedar note is super heavy. It almost smells like a wood shop with wood shavings all over the place. Solo Mercurio has that but it's toned down. I also get a slight freshness and spice like in Solo Esencial. This is a nice combination of those and it also keeps that Solo DNA so it fits in the family but it's not very necessary if you already own Cedro and Esencial I would say. I'm a fan of the Solo line so I had to try it. It's not bad at all but it smells familiar.

I love this house and enjoy many of their offerings. I was very excited to try this based on some the notes listed, which happen to be among my favorites, so I recently acquired a sample. Tobacco- I get no tobacco Fig leaf- nope Licorice- none Honey- zero However... Orange blossom- in spades, but the same orange blossom Bogart uses in its Silver Scent line. Highly synthetic, paired with citrus, cardamom, musk, and lavender, this reminds me very much of Silver Scent Pure. They share the same note construction. Without the presence of the “undetectable” notes listed above, it is actually quite similar. I’m disappointed, as several others are, especially for the price point Loewe fragrances are sold at. I expected something more complex and original. If all the listed notes were detectable, it would certainly have been! As it is, it’s not bad but I can’t recommend it without some reservation.

I get that all scents are subjective but there are some that are more so, to me this feels like one of them. It’s described by Loewe as a “balance of opposite accords, which make the scent consistent and long-lasting” and it is exactly that. But to my nose the amping up of all the notes results in something more synthetic than natural. To be clear I really enjoy a lot of synthetic scents; but I find the level of synthesis in this so high that I can’t pick out notes. For me, its full throttle approach feels like there’s something missing, it lacks a dynamism, a bit of magic, some emphasis on one element. It’s strong too, I’ll give it that. Some one below says it’s a clubbing scent, I’m inclined to agree. It’s not delicate but also it’s not unpleasant. Not what I was expecting, not bad; possibly best used in loud situations.

Ir starts peppery and a lot of coriander, and the drydown pepper, more pepper and more coriander, simply 2 notes from start to end

too sweet... too powdery.. too boring... Im dissapointed. 3/10

The House of Loewe, less spoken about and not mainstream in any way, but special scents all the same. The appeal of this house lies in the fact that their releases are always different then your standard designer fragrances. I had the chance to test a number of their releases and Solo Mercurio got my attention. An enticing blend of notes but none which can be perceptible to be dominant or standing out. It smells like an aromatic fougere, a lavender, geranium and fig based fragrance with a touch of sweetness. I like it, however the performance is underwhelming. All seasonal scent? Yes, would work in any type of weather. Evening or day wear Unisex? Masculine Blind buy worthy? Considering the price and if you are into fougeres, yes Performance? Longevity, around 6 hours, with moderate projection and silage

Looking at the "reminds me of" section is a good indication of what you get here. It's such a mishmash of different things you've smelled over the years. I laughed when I saw how varied they were. Come on, there's a fragrance that smells like ADP Colonia Club, Le Male, Sauvage Elixir, Loewe Solo, and La Nuit? What? But honestly, it kinda does smell like all of those combined, haha. It smells a bit flat and uninspired, but generally pleasant. Nothing really new here that stands out, with it lacking the personality of the fragrances I mentioned above. Easy to like, hard to love, and even harder to remember. An easy dumb reach for when you want to smell good without standing out.

Absolutely gorgeous!!!! As a fan of Solo line I tried this one but, to be honest, I wasn’t expecting too much... Wow!!!! How different from the rest of the line this Solo Mercurio is!!! This has its own character and it could have been released as a totally new scent apart from Solo line. This is dark, cool and sparkling at the same time as ACBCNTW mentioned. Sillage and longevity are impressive. In my opinion, the best of Solo line so far.

Fantastic! I bought a full bottle after a sample. It is one of the best man perfumes that I tried this year. Excellent price/performance. The bottle is also gorgeous, minimalistic and nice. I pick up the fig leaf and a lot of contrasts. A great signature scent with niche qualities! 10/10

Sweet, generic DNA, nothing much to say about this, nothing new. It kinda pisses me off that between thousands of notes to blend, brands still can't, or don't want to, come up with something original, it's just boring. Something to be used as an air freshener.

I was expecting something bold, dark, with a twist of freshness from the fig leaf, but in fact, it is a very soft, gentle scent with quality ingredients but nothing remarkable. I tried a couple of times but i lacks something. 2/5
