Mayrit

In my review of Sutileza Elixir, I mentioned that I was recently in Spain. What a trip. If you haven't been, GO. Anyway, I knew I wanted to buy a Loewe perfume while I was there, and I also knew I wanted it to be one from Un Paseo Por Madrid. I went to El Corte Ingles several times and was between La Bella Cibeles, Opera, and Mayrit. In fact, Mayrit was a DISTANT 3rd. I love Opera but I have a ton of other big white florals in my collection so I didn't want to replicate. La Bella Cibeles smelled good on me but it didn't wow me. I'll probably buy it eventually. All of the others except for Mayrit were way too herby for me. So I left it to Duty Free to make the decision. At Duty Free in the Madrid airport, I fell in love with Mayrit. I sprayed it on and immediately loved it after a week of being unsure of it. I think my time in Spain just made me see things differently, including fragrance. Mayrit is a love letter to Spain's Moorish/North African origins. You can smell in this fragrance all of the strolls down orange tree-lined streets, the light spiciness of the food, and so many other things that are just SPAIN. I bought it, got a great deal on it at Duty Free, and then came home and bought both Sutileza Elixir and Woman 001. The passion fruit is so lovely and fresh. My Mom hates about 90% of my perfumes but she loves Mayrit. As soon as I got home I let her smell it and she said it was beautiful. To give you a comparison, I smelled Power of You and hated that passion fruit. It's just so beautifully blended in Mayrit. My birthday was yesterday and I was in the hospital with a kidney stone, so I think I'll buy myself Ella 001 for my birthday. You just can't go wrong with Loewe. I'm even tempted to buy some of the more spicy/herby ones and layer them with some of the more feminine/floral ones.

This is sunshine in a bottle. It has the beauty of the jasmine and the juiciness of the passion fruit. It screams happiness. This is bold, noticeable, and an attention grabber. It reminds me of some withe floral attars you may find in middle-eastern perfumery, such as Safari from Abdul Samad al Qurashi, or Gharam from Arabian Oud. In this case it comes in extrait concentration and its performance will be never an issue. I can see this leaning more feminine, but nothing impossible for a man to pull it off. For special occasions, specially dress-up morning events, this is a winner. I can see a bride the day of her wedding rocking this beauty surrounded by white flowers and projecting happiness, self confidence and joy of life. Loewe Mayrit is a rich beautiful floral gem for a lady or true gentleman. Full bodied orange blossoms to jasmines are very well arranged, developing slowly into deep amber sandalwood base. All floral notes are highly alive throughout the wear and it lasts for a remarkable 20 hours or more. I am particularly interested in the name. At first, I thought it sounded like Marriage. Out of curiosity, I asked the sales assistant if the name had any meaning. I was expecting a "no", and to my surprise, he said "it simply means Madrid - the birth place of Loewe". I smelled this perfume while visiting Barcelona with my wife. I liked it very much and wanted to buy her this perfume, but it was a little expensive. I think the more affordable one is Paula's Ibiza. In terms of quality, Mayrit smells better than Paula, but it is expensive. If I had the money, I would buy it without thinking for a minute. That can be used for summer and spring. Sillage is also very satisfactory. I'm sure many people will ask about your perfume. 8.5/10

This is an absolute gem from Loewe I'm so happy I was introduced to this fragrance. Very bright fruity opening with a gorgeous creamy jasmine, orange blossom and amber dry down. Although it is a White floral / citrus it feels sensual almost leaning sexy because of how amazingly it melts into your skin chemistry. Very beautifully blended. Would rate 9/10 Longevity is reasonable alongside good projection

Very high quality ingredients as usual, like other Loewe perfumes. I like this one. It fits both men and women. It strikes the right balance between fruity, floral and woodiness. I normally do not like fruity fragrances but this one is a pleasant surprise for me. The passion fruit note is nice and defines the unique character to this perfume.

The top notes listed are a bold face lie. This is white florals without smelling matronly. The soft vanilla base keeps things smoothy and out of granny territory. I wish more folks discovered this line instead of the tik tok usual suspects.

Beautiful fragrance, long lasting. Great bridal scent!

This has that magical quality some perfumes have where it smells completely different nose-to-skin vs in the air. When I put my nose to my wrist it smells very fresh with some fruitiness (there's a blast of passionfruit in the immediate opening but it fades very, very quickly - it's still there but buried in the background) and a pinch of white florals, but in the air it smells INTENSELY of white florals and powdery. Both aspects are very nice! What's taken me by surprise with this is that I detest tuberose. I wasn't even going to try this sample, but the promise of passionfruit and orange blossom lured me in... I don't dislike the scent of tuberose necessarily, it just triggers an instant headache in me 99% of the time... but I've just found my 1% exception it seems! Don't know if I'll eventually fall in love and want to buy it, but for right now it's shockingly a very strong like!

Just a record for myself. Many perfumes containing passion fruit make me feel uncomfortable. I'm not sure why. Perhaps it's the distinctive gas-like smell, or the sharp green scent (like burning rubber) that I find extremely unpleasant. It's probably the base (fragrance oil) from a specific fragrance company. I always wonder: do the perfumers there really think this is the scent of passion fruit? Anyway, it’s not a bad scent with its vibrant white floral notes, vanilla, and hints of rose. The tropical feel also works well. But as I mentioned earlier, passion fruit is simply not for me.

This is a definite no for me. The combo of tuberose and jasmine makes this unbelievably pungent and indolic to the point of making me ill. Despite all the notes suggested in this fragrance, I still went with a blind purchase and I got burned 😂😂😂I’ll never learn!!!

Opening is overwhelming and artificial syrupy sweet. There is none of the freshness I would have expected from the notes listed, or from Loewe in general. It dries down to a very strong and cloying powdery finish. Not for me.

This is a more sweet and heavy version of Solo Ella. The passion fruit gives to the composition an interesting twist, making it to smell almost like sour candies. The tuberose and jasmine are heavy, velvety, but the composition is so well balanced, avoiding the perfume to be cloying. It smells indeed like those heavy carnal tuberose scents (Kiss My Name, Narcotic V...), but is brighter, sparkling. Not sure if I'm going to love it or if it is going to be just a like, but I feel it is a little overpriced. I get it at a great discount (more than 50%), but for its retail price, I'd rather get Solo Ella Elixir.

Loewe Mayrit is like Chanel Beige without honey. A strange fragrance - sweet, illuminating but cloying.

I have quezas seduction and this is almost 94% same
