Paula's Ibiza

This smells similar enough to be a flanker of another tropical scent. I love tropical scents. I often blind buy ones that sound interesting. I have had a string of meh purchases, and was happy to take this out of the package, find a beautiful round box with fun artistry, pull out the fun looking bottle, and spray this on to find a complicated, green scent that has some facets of fig and coconut but gets to tropical without being trite. Paula's Ibiza opens up with a very green scent on a sweet, coconut/fig background and some woods. I imagined taking a pocket knife and shaving the bark off fig tree branch sticks. Somehow, the scent also conjured up a taco stand nestled in palm trees with yellow lights strewn about. Amid all this imagining, I realized that it smells a lot like another scent I have: Guess 1981 Indigo. Indigo opens up with a similar sweet, coconut/fig, but lacks any of the green/woodiness of Paula's Ibiza. Indigo came out in 2018, so had the juice in Paula's Ibiza been released by Guess it would have been named Guess 1981 Indigo Extreme or Indigo Night. On the other hand, if Loewe's had released the juice in Indigo as a flanker to Paula's Ibiza, it would be called Paula's Ibiza Eau Fraiche. Either way, if you enjoy one, you are likely to appreciate the other. Of the two, Paula's Ibiza is superior in terms of performance. The scent lasts all day. I kind of curse the person who wrote the smell is like green pepper, because now I can smell green pepper when I smell Paula's Ibiza, which is I think is the note that brought to mind a taco stand when I was originally testing. Already, coconut is an interesting scent - the coconut in Diesel Only The Brave Wild smells a bit of Thai curry. There is an undeniable culinary aspect to Paula's Ibiza, but because the scent leans more figgy than coconut milky, it does not smell of Thai food. In any case, this is no gourmand. In sum, this is a tropical scent that takes a unique path. If you like tropical scents and want one that is unisex but leans masculine, this one may fit the bill.

The first time I used it, it made me question so many things about life and the human need to smell good. I concluded that scents can be more than just vehicles for gaining acceptance from others; they can transport us to experience specific places and moments. Paula's Ibiza takes you on a journey from where you left your car, walking through the trees to reach the beach, even if you can't enter the water. For those around you, it offers a fresh, citrus fragrance that is simply enchanting.

After living for 2 years in Ibiza, I was curious about this fragrance. Is very well blend, not really possible to identify single notes, but a whole new smell. Is very linear, in the begining is a little bit more sweet, because of the mandarine and coconut. The mandarine here is more like a volatile sweetness that you feel when you are pealing a mandarine. This volatilyness is balanced by a sweet creamy coconut, but a faded one, not the typical suntan lotion's coconut Im used to in perfumes. Almost at the same time you get this green accord, very well balanced by the mix of galbanum and patchouli, whith some hints of Iris. It is a soft green note, not, in your face kind of green note. The accord of drift wood is very well achieved and present during all phases, and associated to the ambroxan, gives that seaside vibe to the composition. I almost couldn't feel the frangipany or vanilla, and I think they are only there to balance the green accord and prevent it to go too herbal. It is a very different fragrance from what I'm used to, but I love it. It completely tansport me to the walks to the wonderful Ibicenc calas in spring, crowded with galbanum and wild flowers, untill you get tothe crystal clear turquoise waters full o driftwood. It is more a skin scent and, At first I thought the longevity was not great, but as usually happens with perfumes with ambroxan in their composition, whiffs of this magical smell kept going and coming back to me all throug the day.

Paula's Ibiza is a dream of a scent, I am gratefully surprised for its discovery. The balance is the key... it is super-well blended, it has the right amount of each thing... very close to a perfect scent to me: it is not much heavy on coconut, that gives prominence to frangipani, which is delicious, and paired with narcissus: surprinsing, what a so clever combo. There is also no ubiquitous or obvious salty note, although the fragrance is crossed from beginning to end by a slightly salty trail. I would not label Paula's Ibiza as a green scent either, though galbanum is perfectly detectable. The base notes are the perfection, and give meaning to the whole. In short, there are a lot of things here: the sea, the suntan lotion, the green plants of the coast when they are not yet very sunburned; there are sweet and woody notes... but the geniality is that this fragrance is everything and none of that. Paula's Ibiza is just a breeze and almost effortlessly catches the feeling of a bohemian lifestyle, calm but vital, but I find it super-sophisticated as well... absolutely hippy royalty jet set vibes. Actually, the best thing is that this is a very real fragrance, very pleasant to wear, long-lasting and not overwhelming... Super recommended! BRAVO!

This fragrance is exactly what I was hoping it would be while reading and watching some of the reviews. I agree with a fellow reviewer Naipe that it's all about balance here and Núria Cruelles Borrull who composed Paula’s Ibiza got it so right. It's green, tropical (due to use of flowers such as frangipani and narcissus) and aquatic but not like a typical aquatic scent. Coconut note is more like coconut water and combined with bourbon vanilla create an aura of a luxurious body lotion. Flowers are kept in check by galbanum which I think is why this scent doesn’t smell like a sweet sun screen. Paula’s Ibiza is a perfect combination of green, flowery, woody and creamy notes. The impression I get is like being in a tropical place surrounded by sea water, filled with flowers and woods after the rain (great combo of driftwood and ambergris). Very laidback and classy and the same time. I have worn it in the heat and it worked perfectly. Its longevity for eau de toilette is almost unrivalled and projection at least moderate but never too much. I have to confess that I ignored Paula’s Ibiza at first because of... the bottle. Now that I have discovered the scent and worn it I have to say the colours make sens. One of my top summer fragrances, easily.

The thing is, this is a bit weird summer EdT. First of all - it’s loud, and definitely not fresh. It’s loud in the beginning and it stays loud for several hours. This is the moment where Paula’s Ibiza feels most exotic and - can I say humid? Because humidity is what I associate with it the most. The closest association I can get from this is a perfectly lab-manufactured synthetic figue, with hints of heavy, soaked wood from the sea. I’m currently in southern Europe and here, in the 30°+ conditions, Paulas Ibiza shines like a star. The longevity and sillage is massive - can’t imagine how strong the EdP would be - and yet, it doesn’t make you feel uncomfortable. It was made heavy for hot temperatures. Outside your regular holidaying though, I would be careful about the use as the scent can get lost in your hometown city, with no direct access to the beach. I wore it few times and it never really left impression on me or anyone around. It’s not offensive, but the natural habitat for this scent is quite clear: if it’s not Ibiza, it’s definitely an island. Use it well and you’ll be rewarded.

Paula's Ibiza... the name alone had me intrigued... who is Paula? And what was happening in Ibiza....? The bottle alone has me entranced... and let's spend a moment enjoying the container too.... mermaids ! All these questions led me to a fascinating article in Vogue Magazine... Paula's was a clothing/music collab store around in the 1970s... Loewe, the Paula's founder and the perfumer then created this incredible scent...a scent that permeates the imagination with the gentle vibe of a beautiful, lush, Spanish island. You need to wear this on the skin....warm skin.....to really get the fabulousness, its green... like a freshly cut jungle by the sea...fresh... this is green beachy not coconuts....and I love it.... I don't think I've ever smelt anything quite like this it's like wearing your own private Mediterranean sea garden.... but you need to be very warm to wear this... to enjoy it's full juice. Sadly discontinued in the UK but a few perfumeries in the Spanish islands and main land have a few left for the sea voyager in you.

So far this is the only Loewe scent I love, even amongst their expensive exclusives. I don’t dislike them, most smell good, they just have this kind of nondescript, pleasant, vaguely shower fresh vibe. They smell like what young Europeans from nice families who don’t really care about scent would smell like on a (tame) night out. Who would have thought that bitter galbanum would be the magic ingredient that elevates coconut from cheap and cloying to interesting and mysterious? It’s euphoric and giddy and feels like the first two days of a tropical beach vacation. Way better than the two flankers, and as usual, they flankers probably sell better. Can anyone else confirm if it’s really getting discontinued? Please let me know. I’m not sure if we can believe the word of one employee.

It is being discontinued unfortunately, confirmed last weekend by a saleswoman in Barcelona : 100ml bottle is no longer available on Loewe's own website and in most shops. One of the most if not the most gorgeous and artistic fragrance from Loewe. Very unusual coconut, green, salty and flowery fragrance with a solid patchouli backbone. Dry, warm and airy at the same time. Not for everyone and not a blind buy as this is not a mainstream fragrance at all. Sold as a women's fragrance but perfectly unisex. The perfect beach scent. Excellent longevity and adequate projection. Fully agree with previous comment stating "Don't bother with Eclectic and Cosmic, the original Paula is the best." If you love it as much as I do, go secure a backup bottle before it is completely gone.

It's such a different fragrance... I love galbanum and I usually don't like coconut or frangipani (let alone both together) because they get too intense and cloying on my skin. So it was a bit risky to try this one, and there were moments when I was already waiting for the "sweetness" to take over and it would turn into a scrubber. And it did not! This is a saving grace for those skins that amplify sweetness, who could never wear frangipani and coconut without having a headache a few hours later... And the saltiness of the driftwood is not too much and it's keeping everything in place.... I can't stop snffing my hand, this is delicious - a mermaid perfume!!! Plus it's early winter and this scent was a burst of joy in a very cold rainy day - I am in love!

Easily became my signature scent in less than a year. I am so grateful that they finally came out with a 100 ml because believe it or not, my other summer fragrance might just start collecting dust (although they are also special). Super green with a hint of floral. Regarding the coconut it’s more of a fresh coconut water smell and less of a victoria secret coconut passion or tom ford soleil Blanc type of coconut; not sure why people are disappointed with the artificial coconut absence. On my skin, it definitely lasts around 6-7 hours. On my clothes it’s definitely on there the next day, no doubt. Also, funny enough, I hated this fragrance at first trial. I thought it smell like green peppers and was completely dissatisfied.

You'd definitely want to have a bottle of this in your bag during a stroll on the streets of old town Ibiza. While it opens sweet, it's also fruity and very suitable for the beach. I guess it also depends on skin chemistry, but at least on mine I don't get that "sweaty" element. It leans slightly feminine but I think it still stays in that safe unisex area that will not take away anyone's masculinity. I do find it a bit expensive for what it offers because you can definitely get this scent profile and performance in other more affordable fragrances.

A longer lasting Eau d'Italie, especially on drydown. They don't list it as a note in this one, but it is in Eau d'Italie: terracotta, or clay. There is something mineral on drydown that I find captivating and fresh. Eau d'Italie is the fragrance of Le Sirenuse, the famous seaside hotel in Positano. So - since it's a twin - imagine terracotta tiles warmed by the sun and slightly damp from salt spray, with some neroli/orange flower sea breeze coming over to sweeten things up a tad. Easily unisex. I'm female and wear it with pleasure.

I've found it!! I've found the perfect summer fragrance! I've been hunting for so long for the perfect fresh/green/bright coconut fragrance for the summer, and this might be it. A beautiful green (definitely get the green pepper smell), frangipani opening with a beautiful coconut milk heart. I definitely get the woody driftwood note, and all rounded off by a creamy bourbon vanilla/ambergris. It's very tropical, and definitely unique. I love this. 100% unisex too.

this defiantly works for summer. It has a woody green citrus vibe. The Frangigani gives a summery flare to it. This is an everyone scent. I really can’t see this for winter due to the frangipani which gives it a tropical scent. Longevity is excellent definitely 6 hours plus and sillage is also very good. This is going to be a new summer favorite. Niche quality for sure! Get your hands on this! 10/10 my new summer go to.....think VIW without coconut!

Fantastically picturesque. I am so happy to find the scent of my favorite place in the tropical greenhouse of the botanical garden. Green, warm, humid, earthy and at the same time fresh and not stuffy. And in such a beautiful package. It also smells of wet stones and sand. There is a light note of fresh clean sweat, or rather perspiration, which appears on the skin in a moist and warm environment. I do not find anything funky or indecent here.

I’m a huge fan of beachy fragrances and this has got to be the most unique one of all! Overall, I would say the experience of this is very fresh, but there is this gorgeous woody earthiness that makes this so distinctive. It’s like an orange grove at the seaside. You get the salty marine air with the smell of orange trees and soil and just the slightest touch of coconut. Truly stunning. And for an eau de toilette, this is a BEAST.

it's a nice concentrated fragrance, Not intense, it's moderate projection. Feels clean and elegant. Personally I can feel citrus like green lemon in a very elegant way (not mandarine as it's stated on fragrantica list), you feel the coconut not as a first note but like a companion to the citrus. I can defo feel green notes and woody. I would use it to feel good during the day at office, shopping, day outs, events. It's versatile.

i do love this one-- i needed a summer fragrance and i thought this one was perfect for me <3 it starts off like an earthy coconut and sort of wears into quite an earthy smell. i like it! i can see it being a bit hit or miss though. it also lasts super well- i've had it on all day and it's still really strong (don't take my word too seriously tho i totally don't know what i'm on about when it comes to perfume lmao)

First I tought this is weird and too strong. But now I really enjoy and love it! Paula's Ibiza is sweet and green, very green. Galbanum blends so beautifylly with other notes giving very sexy fibe when sprayed on skin. It has strong, bohemian character and it takes you into paradise forest. Coconut stays at background. It is happy, young and unisex for those who dares to be visible. I dont get any fig here.

Love it! I have been wearing it all summer... Long lasting & projects like crazy (especially in the humid weather over here in Spain)! Ooo this is interesting. On me, this smells JUST like entering a tropical greenhouse, with palm trees, humid hot air and over all freshness. There is something fig-like, woody and coconuty about this, but not in a very sweet way. And it stays clear and fresh for so long, it doesn't really fade on my skind. I can't get enough of it. This is a hidden gem, as long as it fits your skin!

Masterpiece, from the presentation to the smell. Very noticeable coconut water note, which can come off similar to fig leaves when combined with the humid greenery. Performs just right, strong but natural. Juicy mandarin orange opens up the fragrance on first spray and some florals with a touch of vanilla-patch combo add just enough texture and smoothness.

Bitter green and coconutty opening. Sweetness from the coconut and vanilla combination tames the bitterness from galbanum down and maks a very pleasant exotic opening. There are also combination of ambergris and frangipani in the background which brings up beach vacation feeling. Good longivity. Average projection. Love it.

I had to came back to say this. I absolutely adore Paulas Ibiza. It makes my mouth water. I have no words why this is so good & delicious. I wear this in October, in Scandinavia when first snow is on the ground. Yes I know this is summer scent. But I wear it always. There is no other like this.

A great fragrance! It reminds me of my old summer memories. A master's work! Mossy sea waves hitting the sandy shore of a tropical island while coconut trees shading the long-time untouched oyster shells on a sunny day! If you pay close attention, you can almost hear the seagulls screaming!

This is better executed ADP Fico di Amalfi. Coconut in the opening and the blend just feels better made and less annoying. I like FdA, but I swapped it for this one. It also has beautiful presentation and bottle design.

One of my absolute favorite fragrances for summer . I get incredible performance from this , long lasting with good projection. Fresh and faintly bitter green with tropical florals

A masculine version of mancera holidays. A great summer scent.

I won’t lie to you and say that Ibiza is an easy sunscreen-type scent that is easily likable because it isn’t. It requires a mature nose to appreciate all of its nuances, and even after three months, I find myself thinking whether I like it or not. Regardless, this fragrance is nothing short of a masterpiece. A fragrance that finally doesn’t smell like the typical beachy and boring scents on the market. TOP NOTES It opens up with the juiciest mandarin orange, combined with hints of coconut and that unapologetic galbanum present from the start until the fragrance fades away from the skin. The effect is a rubbery smell that I can guarantee you either haven’t smelled yet or you rarely see in other releases. The issue for me is that galbanum comes off as bitter and smells like immortelle and old-school patchouli, which is also in the base here. HEART NOTES The heart adds marine and floral touches to the composition, getting more complex but never stronger than galbanum. Each time I wear Ibiza, I’m never reminded of a sunny beach but rather a stormy day and a cold rain about to fall on hot sand. Driftwood adds woodiness, and ambergris comes sooner than expected to provide a salty touch. BASE NOTES It will take some time to detect the base notes perfectly, which are vanilla, ambergris, and patchouli trifecta. With its earthy nuances, patchouli is also unapologetic like galbanum, while vanilla and ambergris balance the composition. Besides the fading of mandarin orange, coconut, and florals from the heart, the scent is more or less what you got from the first spray until it dries down. OVERALL I know that we are constantly complaining about how most of the scents these days are copies of a copy, and this is your chance to see what creativity is in this over saturated genre. If we don’t start supporting brands willing to take creative risks, scents like these will become rarer by the year. Regardless of their price point, the “best” beach scents on the market cannot hold a candle to this masterpiece, which can be purchased for less than a hundred bucks. I like it but I don't love it. I would like it to have a better sillage and a little bit more defined smell. It reminds me of Ichnusa (which is a fig scent) but this one is like the Ichnusa after 3 hours into drydown. I love Ichnusa but this one will not be a cheaper substitute. I get rather figue than the coconut which is OK for me. If you need something for a very hot weather, you like green scent, and maybe don't like the citrus then you should try it. For me it's a nice scent for a walk outside when it's really hot and I can't stand any stronger smell. It doesn't perform so well in the air-conditioned environment and I wouldn't wear it during the colder days. It lasts around 4 hours on my skin but it's a very intimate scent. It looks that some other people say it's a beast projection/longevity, so it's good to check with your skin chemistry and with your nose. For me it's too weak. I would finish it within a month of hot summer season as I would need to overspray - so I wouldn't say it's cheap in this context. Give it a try as it's a quite unique perfume to find in a designer range.

Surprisingly, this smells more masculine the more it dries down. Even more surprising, the performance on this is great. A green-tinged floral summer scent that is very different from current summer releases, specially when you look at the notes: coconut is only there for the opening, it vanishes in about 15 minutes. There's no sweetness here. In fact it has a dryness to it (driftwood note) combined with the florals that is very smooth and bright and definetly puts you in a "sunny day at the beachside" vibe. Also, and it's very strange, there's something very nostalgic to me in here, like it brought me olfactory memories from a 90's summertime for some reason. My nose definetly recognized something very familiar from a very specific point in time within this scent that i can't for the life of me describe what it is, but i know it is something. But, even though i enjoyed this DNA, it's a bit overpriced for what it is. It's not a one-of-a-kind scent and you can find similar frags for half the price and same performance/appeal.

upon first spritz - all i smell is Galbanum, quickly goes into a woody scent with slight fruit (giving it a jolly rancher vibe on the down low) - with a persistent green scent (galbanum or maybe the patch) echo faint but always there - the white florals/coconut/vanilla blend this swell. To me this is more crisp than creamy, more fruity than floral, but overall a definite driftwood scent. This is the best summer time scent - hot weather today 90 and this lasts! But even better - it smells great. It literally smells like summer - wearing this makes me think I am in Ibiza at a beach party with a DJ. Def unisex EDIT: 1 YEAR LATER - this was by FAR the best fragrance I purchased for 2021 as far as originality, quality, cost and scent. This is niche quality at a designer budget and VERY well done.

I purchased Paula's Ibiza a couple of days ago, and I have to say that I'm pleasantly surprised with the overall impressions I got in the first couple of wears. This is NOT your typical beachy scent, and is quite unique, and can be challenging for someone who is not used to creative perfumery. A niche fragrance with superb presentation and affordable price point. This has that typical sunscreen vibe but only in the first hour. After that, it takes a complete 360, and turns into this peppery/herbal fragrance with salty, musky and slightly vanillic undertones. Performance is great, and ill do a full review in a couple of months at scentgrail.com. Don't recommend to purchase this without smelling it first since it also has a classic vibe as well.

This one reminds me a lot of the now-discontinued Lolita Lempicka's L Fleur de Corail. Just as that one, I am not sure if I like this or not. The driftwood note is the most prominent. It is supported by lily, and something very sweat-like that I assume is ambergris. I get wafts of some of the other notes (mainly coconut, frangipani and galbanum), which give the hippie vibe from Ibiza to this perfume. The projection and staying power are very good, so far 9h and counting. All in all, I'd say it's a summer fragrance to be worn whenever you are near to or missing that beach vibe. 7/10

Aquatic, tropical, floral, bitter, green, salty, coconut, citrus, wood. I suppose the green is galbanum. There's a saltiness but not a robust ambergris profile. Can't pin down the vanilla (though there is a slight sweetness) nor patchouli. Moderate longevity, close sillage. Need the heat for this to shine. It's fresh. Compared to another driftwood aquatic, floral, green fragrance (Olympic Orchids Kingston Ferry) Ibiza is cleaner and more tropical. A test vial is enough for me, though this is a beautiful fragrance!

This is way greener in scent than the notes let on. Someone else commented that they get fig from this and when I sprayed it I thought exactly the same. So much do I have gone back to double check the notes. It’s giving philosykos vibes to me. This is a summery scent for those who don’t like coconut as while the note is listed it’s not the typical coconut scent I’d say green coconut akin to water vibes rather than milk/sunscreen. The scent is fining cool breeze and fresh vibes. Lovely!

Immediately reads more synthetic than natural, but not in an unpleasant way. The opening is coconut water (not flesh) with a hint of citrus and florals. On my skin, the driftwood accord takes the main stage quickly. The smell is reminiscent of a beach cabin, surrounded by wildflowers, baking in the sun. I can see the fig wood comparisons as well Patchouli/"Ambergris" scents are noticeable close to the skin after 4-5 hours. Overall, surprisingly pleasant, especially in hot weather.

Finally received my bottle which is gorgeous. I love everything about the packaging, bottle & cap. Fragrance itself is figgy fig FIG!!!! A mellowed out Womanity with the salty fig. Longevity is 2 hours for me. I don’t get these other reviews that it’s long lasting. Bottle is so pretty I don’t really mind though. Reason to not gobble up my discontinued Womanity and plow through this first.

Dirty beach hippie!! In a good way. On point for Paula's Ibiza collection. On first blast, I get patchouli - a dry earthy patch, not a medicinal patch. Thank goodness! Next, the coconut creeps in, followed by the rich ambergris. These three notes remain prominent on me, at least initially. I will report back as it develops...

It really reminds me of some other fragrance from my childhood. I probably had a bottle of that was I was younger. Wish by Chopard maybe? I don’t remember the scent, but it might be this one. Overall, there are some nice creamy notes mixed with flowers, woods and some sweetness.

The longevity on this one is really good and the sillage is nice too but it kinda smells like saliva mixed with suntan lotion after a while (not sure if it’s the ambergris). Still I think this a good fragrance and worth buying.

People who ONLY wear certain perfumes for ONLY certain occasions are weird. If it smells good, it smells good anywhere and anytime. This smells good in the office, on a date, or at the damn beach.

Extremely underated summer beach perfume perfect for beach raves, drinks on the beach. Shorts and sandals only. Very casual cologne that smells great and won't offend anyone. Unique and fresh.

Beautiful, tropical summer scent that is a bit more mature to me than most other perfumes in this same genre, if you get what I mean. Big like.

As advertised - fun and fresh summer set with coconut and fruity notes. You can wear it year round if you want to conjure up beachy vibes.
