Solo Loewe Esencial

I got 2 x 2ml samples and I am positively surprised by this sweet, gentle and refined fragrance. 😋 It reminds me old Dior Homme only without powdery feeling. It is very joyful and youthful scent. It is not very masculine 😗 but I still like it as for me it feels very elegant and sweetness is not like kitchen and toffee but rather like... 🤔 something very ethereal that is hard to describe. Like good cologne! 😁 It smells very pure - like distillate of bunch of flowers (i know there are not much flowers in formula but it is just my olfactory association). It is very cohesive scent, no uninvited notes stand out. 👍🏽

The first 3 minutes after applying it honestly I did not like it. But after 4 minute mark, a sweet smell of orange / tangerine begins similar to that of Solo absolute and solo POP (both discontinued) followed by a powdery smell. I think it's a great launch. An excellent summer fragance. I don't get the reference to invictus, it has nothing to do with it. Please try it before judging

I'm surprised to say this, this is the first perfume that I've smelt from Loewe that reminds me of something else, it has lots of similarities with Versace's Eros. The signature ambery/incensy accord of Loewe is there in the dry down, but it's combined with Tonka, mint and and a dense citrus note. Not bad at all, but an alien to the Solo line.

This is a really sublime and unique discovery. Fruity woody but the Tonka bean is just so so good. This won't be a compliment getter but it's a greatly put together perfume

I find this very nice, spicy and sweet. Very very similar to Armani Code Profumo after 5 minutes. The Tonka is the predominant note in this fragrance. 8.9/10

Solo Loewe Esencial Men EDT opens with a moderate projection of very sweet, citrus, herbs, spices, smokey and woody notes. The opening is fresh, delectable, sharp, intense, and pleasant. The tangerine and lime notes are first, prominent, sweet, sharp, delicious, and dominate the opening. The mint and lavender and next, the mint particularly, creates a cooling green and slightly spicy accord. Briefly, the citrus notes recede a bit to let the spicy notes of the rosemary, nutmeg, cardamom, and thyme to come up. The incense and tonka bean are base notes, but they noticeable as soon as the fragrance is applied. The tonka bean makes the fragrance very sweet and aromatic, the incense and guaiac wood, on the other hand, add a woody, smoky, and projecting accord. As time passes, the tonka bean becomes sweeter and projecting, all other notes follow closely. The fragrance has some important opening to dry-down changes, the citrus and mint and very sharp and projecting during the opening, the natural sweetness of the tangerine makes the opening very pleasant and fresh; this intensity and sharpness smooth out towards the dry-down, the citrus notes lose most of its initial sharpness letting the tonka bean lead the fragrance, also, the incense and guaiac wood catch up momentum towards the dry-down. Once Solo Loewe Esencial Men EDT has reached its full dry-down, it can be summarized as a moderate projection, very sweet (tonka), herbal (mint, thyme), spicy (rosemary, nutmeg, cardamom), woody and smokey fragrance with citrus, floral and green accords. The fragrance feels aromatic, casual, comforting, delectable, inviting, masculine, mild, modern, smokey, spicy, sweet, warm, woody, and pleasant. BATCH REVIEWED: 2020. WOW RATING: 7/10. Sweet, minty, spicy, woody and citrusy, not amazing, but very good. DISLIKE RATING: 1/10. The fragrance contains an incense note, not harsh or prominent. UNIQUENESS: 6/10. The notes and resulting scent are relatively common. MASS APPEAL: 9/10. This is a fragrance that most people will enjoy. PROJECTION: 4/10. Moderate, about 4 feet around the wearer. SILLAGE: 4/10. RECOMMENDATION: Solo Loewe Esencial Men EDT can be purchased for about $50, it is a fragrance ideal for those that enjoy sweeter fragrances, it is not groundbreaking but it is good. It is a nice-to-have but not a must-have. BLIND-BUY: Yes, but only if you are familiar with its main notes. SIMILAR: These are examples of fragrances in the same genre. Mandarina Duck Black is a mandarin and tonka bean delicious fragrance; Baldessarini Nautic Spirit is a sweet, passion fruit, mango, and spicy fragrance; Animale “Animale” Men EDT is a very sweet, fruity, floral, green, tobacco fragrance with great performance; Azzaro Wanted by Night EDP is fantastic very sweet, cinnamon, fruity/citrusy, leathery, tobacco and incense accords; John Varvatos Men EDT a very soft, sweet, vanilla, caramel, fruity tamarind, dates, and ambery fragrance; Zadig & Voltaire This Is Him is a sweet, vanilla, sandalwood, and incense fragrance, but lacks performance; Solo Loewe Esencial Men EDT is a very sweet fragrance with mint, spicy, woody, smoky, and citrus notes. SUMMARY: A moderate projection, very sweet (tonka), herbal (mint, thyme), spicy (rosemary, nutmeg, cardamom), woody and smokey fragrance with citrus, floral and green accords. Loewe Solo Esencial is more on the casual side like Solo Platinum. I wouldn't wear this to work though because it has a spicy side to it but it's also sweet with the tonka bean note. I would wear this with a nice shirt in the evening. Also you could wear this with a t-shirt and jeans on a cooler fall night. I would say it's pretty loud to be a gym scent. It smells like a great fragrance but I don't get the Solo DNA as much as I do with some of the others but it still has that Loewe quality. To me this is compared to the original Solo the way Acqua Di Gio Absolu is compared to the original Acqua Di Gio as it's just a sweeter version that takes a left turn. The tonka bean is pretty noticeable and gives it a pleasant and popular smell. I give this a 9.3/10 The more I wear this the more I enjoy it. The sweet tonka bean has got to me. It's a nicely done tonka fragrance!

Solo Loewe Esencial is an aromatic, herbal and amber fragrance. At its opening, slightly citrus fruits are perceived, but they pass fleetingly, to give way to herbal notes such as mint, rosemary and thyme with lavender, in this phase it is quite aromatic, with a slight feeling of cleanliness, but also like the aroma of a garden that contains the plants mentioned when the wind blows on them. A couple of hours later it ends with a warm base of amber, tonka and patchouli, which makes it more recognizable to the Solo line. Esencial is a fragrance to be worn casually, suitable for spring and autumn mainly, but it could also be used on some summer or winter days. Its longevity is very good, over 8 hours. Good version of Solo Loewe.

I have to agree with nardius bellow. This was, I believe, Loewe ́s try to chatch attention of the masses and it goes the Invictus direction. It ́s too sweet for me. I like Loewe ́s fragrances, but in this case I ́m glad I bought just a 10 ml decant.

Geez they are destroying the original beautiful bottles for that simple sleek cheap looking version. Guerlain did the same thing with their line. Where all the bottles of the whole line will look identical and lack freedom of expression and its own identity... Socialism in fragrances! What the heck is going on? Someone making these decisions needs to be fired and away from design or marketing completely! And they better not come out saying “but we are being green and modern with its conformity!”

Something about this smells like YSL Y EDP if you replace the apple in Y with tangerine, and you know what? I like it! It's not as strong and potent as Y EDP either, and I like that too. It's more subdued. You get a blast of citrus at the top but then as the cardamom and tonka come through in the drydown, you still get some of the sweetness of the tangerine playing in the background. Very smooth blend. Solo and Y EDP do not smell the same - that isn't what I'm saying - but if there are things about Y EDP you like (or even dislike) then taking a shot on Solo Esencial isn't a bad thing. You'll either like it a bit more than Y or a bit less, but it isn't far off. I got 15ml for dirt cheap and I'll probably buy another 1 or 2, throw them in a drawer and reach for them on lazy days when I don't know what to wear and just want to wear something that smells clean, inoffensive and not intrusive. 5/10, but not a bad 5/10, a good 5/10.

First spray I thought yuk, bubblegum overload, the opening is awful, but, as it dries down it escapes the Invictus/Dylan Blue vibe and becomes something completely different. What begins to come through are the herbal notes, the rosemary, the thyme, as well as the Tonka and lavender. Performance is very good, it lasts pretty well. Try not to be put off by the opening, you can't blame them for needing to compete in that overcrowded bubblegum market, it's definitely not my cup of tea, but many like it. This one improves with time on the skin, I liked it most in the car dry down, very smooth, Very warm, that's when I got the cardamom and Woody notes. I think they have many better fragrances in their line up. Sample it first.

So generic! So boring! So common!

What a pleasant surprise! This is so far the best one of all the Loewe Solo line that i have acquired & selected...to date. Fresh, spicy, sweet, fruity/citrusy, herbal, slightly warm & smokey...a well-balanced composition of notes with just the right amount of complexity. The quality, performance, projection and longevity are quite superb. Very exquisite, multi-dimensional & quite unique in it own right without losing the Loewe Solo character. Inoffensive & a crowd pleaser...you won't get unnoticed. I was expecting it's perfume rating here would at least deserve a 4+ mark but hopefully my positive experience would encourage fragrance advocates to try it & appreciate it's captivating aroma like i do, maybe help bump the rating up higher a bit. But if they don't see it then it's their loss & my personal gain...more for me, hehe. Also this sleek sophisticated frag matches the very aesthetically pleasing bottle design/concept. One of my truly satisfying & successful blind buys, may stock up more for backup. Impressive... extraordinary...exceptional...what a gem! Enough said...it's simply everything.

It reminded me to a perfume so much it almost drove me crazy and today, as I smelled this juice on my wrist, it just kicked in.... Carolina Herrera Aqua. I mean the dry down. The top notes of CH gave you a lighter, more aquatic scent, however the drydowns of these two are very similar. Which is good, because I loved CH Aqua. However Loewe has a strong mint note on top, which can be cloying for someone who doesn't like mint so much. Anyway... this is a very pleasant scent, give it a try during the spring, or on summer nights.

This Loewe reminds me of John Varvatos Artisan. But with out the ginger fresh orange. The tangerine plays a prominent part in the opening and then it goes into a herbal woody structure with a light incense. It's a pleasant scent but I won't buy a full bottle.

The Cardamom note is dominating the fragrance COMMERCIAL industry for more than 15 years and still is. It is getting to a stage where many fragrances especially the summer ones share strong resemblance in smell.

Whoever decided to change that gorgeous original bottle design to this horrible trash, should be fired and never let close to fragrance industry! Or any industry ever!

Very fresh and citrusy opening — super citrusy but without being astringent. At first, then it becomes quite spicy and somewhat incense-like. Short-lasting.
