Lolita Lempicka Original

I don’t think many people in the world have bought one from this series. Of course, I like what the majority votes down. There was so much protest against this more angular apple glass and the reformed scent that in 2021 they brought back the ‘original’ bottle and scent. (Although this 2020 version was also claimed to be the original.) In short, I like this angular, more contemporary glass and scent better than the older shape, the composition perfectly sums up everything that was previously attractive in it, and elevates it to a more minimalist and modern level. The character is largely retained and got even stronger, but (as opposed to the original, which never works in warmer weather) it has been made viable in all seasons, and for the most part without the former harmful substances. I will try to summarize the evolution of the perfume so far. Apparently the same ingredients have been varied, yet there is a significant difference between how the scents play out. 1997 the first Lolita Lempicka EDP - top: star anise, violet, amber leaf - middle: licorice, cherry, iris, orris, amaryllis - base: vanilla, praline, tonka bean, white musk, vetiver 2010 LL Le Premier EDP - top: cherry, anise, amber leaf - middle: licorice, violet, iris, amaryllis - base: vanilla, praline, tonka bean, musk, vetiver 2016 Le Parfum de LL - top: vanilla, licorice, lemon - heart: violet, anise, jasmine, cedar - base: tonka bean, labdanum, benzoin (I'm not sure if this is a new version or just a flanker, especially since some reviews claim it contains incense and myrrh too) 2018 LL Mon Premier EDP - top: cherry, star anise, amber leaf - middle: licorice, violet, orris, amaryllis - base: praline, vanilla, tonka bean, musk, vetiver 2020 LL Original EDP - top: anise, bergamot - middle: licorice, iris, tonka bean - base: praline, vanilla, musk, patchouli 2021 LL Le Parfum EDP - top: anise, cherry - middle: violet, orris root - base: white musk, tonka bean, licorice The first perfume (1997) was a very bohemian, sweet, fruity, green-mossy, herbal-minty, floral and spicy composition all at once, with a tiny bit of smoke. (Some sources say it also contained tobacco flower). The second scent was similar, perhaps a little gentler. Then came the more angular glass, and although Mon Premier was claimed to have the same notes as the first scent, it became very different, for me absolutely not wearable, a silky-dusty-raspberry-rose, much more like Guerlain La Petite Robe Noire. The 2020 Original really harks back to the very first scent, but it can be worn in almost all seasons as it is not so syrupy and smoky. I think it’s a bit unisex, at least something in it reminds me of LL’s men’s perfumes. I haven’t tried the latest 2021 release and I suspect I won’t buy it, because I still have a little bottle of the 2010 edition which is almost the same as the original. Anyway, I’m glad I’ve managed to lay my hands on this curiosity, my current favorite, and I’m yet to see whether it will enter the line of my all time favorites.

I love it. It smells like a Geisha. It smells like Sayuri in my imagination. Sexy, grown up not immature but not old. It is young, it is fresh and erotic. It is thin ice crackling under your foot with cherry blossoms swirling all around. It is a kiss, it is clean, but it is carnal and smells like feminine sexuality. Yes it gives a hint of Angel by Thierry Mugler, but so subtle. It opens with an icy cold blast of fresh mountain air, evolves into a spicy sweet skin scent with the cherry syrup shaved ice like in Memoirs of a Geisha. A little fairy-like violet enchants the whole perfume, and the licorice creates a sexy, dessert scent that makes it edible...you want to lick it up, but there is a slight danger....do you really want to consume this flower, this girl? Maybe this Lolita is not so nieve. Maybe she will outsmart you! I must say that though this frag is a vixen, it is quiet. It is very faint and delicate, start to finish. It is puzzling and enchanting. It quietly morphs into the scent of clean laundry and cherry lollipops at the end, as if to suggest that a sensuality that is still out of reach for those who desires it. It doesn't jump into your lap. This beauty entices at a distance, like the restraint of the dancing Geisha. Do not over spray. It's a tad chemical and can quickly get bitter. One dab on the wrists is enough. It's sweet but not gourmand. It won't make you hungry like a vanilla perfume. It's the kind of sweet that comes from say....a rhododendron. Very cold, crisp, green. Not fruity in a tropical way, more like sakura green tea.

the opening greeted me with an anise blast, but afterwards Lolita Lempicka took an unexpected and pleasant turn for me: powdery, soft and slightly sweet. this might be placebo because of the color of the bottle but the powderiness comes from the violet maybe. i happened to try a dupe (mini sexy by UDV) that smelled good but distant from the scent profile that i like. i’ve been trying to teach my nose the lolita lempicka characteristic that all their fragrances carry. in this version it’s definitely lighter and still lingers in the background, the perfume comes off as a dreamy powdery juice and i actually really really like it. this is the ethereal, fairylike perfume i really wanted. i was challenged by the anise but it worked so beautifully blended with the other notes. same with the licorice, in fact i didn’t even know it was there! i understand that for the original lovers of Lolita Lempicka or fragrance lovers that have been training their nose forever, this might be disappointing. i’m quite new and struggle with unusual notes like those so i actually appreciated it. if only it was in the beautiful, non geometric bottle !

I just bought the 2020 formulation new from LL and it was a blind buy, so it was a bit of a risk for the price. However it is a really interesting fragrance- not a commonplace scent at all. Some may dislike it but I think it's lovely. The initial scent on spraying it is extremely peppery and gets in your nose, this is a rather spicy scent. The peppery-ness is accompanied soon after with a delightful, cool, woodland floral. I was surprised at how it smells on my skin perhaps it is my skins chemistry, this may not apply to everyone but it is not as deep and dark as I thought it would be. It has a airy kind of smell-light purple like the bottle itself. In the dry down and until it completely wears off, it gets sweeter and more like liquorice. It feels like a scent that I will only grow to admire the longer I wear it, it's unabashedly punchy. My only gripe is I wish it lasted longer, after a few hours all that's left of it is on the skin and it needs a respray so other people can smell it too. That might just be my thirsty skin absorbing it though.

A mystical and mischievous fragrance. I could see a devious fairy or pixie like kind of girl wearing this in a dimly lit thick forest with fireflies orbiting around berry bushes and moonlight shining through the trees. When I smell this fragrance I immediately get a visual in my head. A fairytale in a bottle. It oddly reminds me of that one scene in Snow White and the Huntsman when Kristen Stewart sees the majestic white elk underneath that tree. Just magical imagery. The commercials display it perfectly. It just makes sense. Forest nymph lolita fairy vibes for sure with a bright green poison apple up her sleeve. Absolutely iconic and unique. I believe that only some people can pull this off because it's slightly strange in the weirdest way but you can't quite put your finger on it or figure it out. Definitely do not blind buy! Smell a sample first. It's the kind of perfume you'll either adore and love or never reach for. I heard the new formulation isn't the same unfortunately also but I'm not sure.

This is THE whimsical, mysterious, gothic nymph perfume!!! For months I had heard about this perfume and dreamed of smelling it and I finally got it and the smell is just amazing. I've never smelled anything quite like this before. It's gothic for sure but not the usual all black gothic that we all think of. It's like a white gothic smell. Think of the White Queen from Alice in Wonderland. This is so her. I totally second the comment before me about this smelling like a Lush store lol. It's a spicy sweet citrus smell. The notes I smell the most in order are the bergamot, anise and patchouli. There's for sure a sweetness there but I can't pinpoint where its coming from. It's not a sugary or vanillic sweetness though. It's a very natural and subtle sweetness which is what I think makes this scent so magical. If you like anything mystical, arcane or alternative I feel like you'd love this. 9.5/10

I had the opportunity to skin test this at Nocibé today. And I'm happy to tell that this reformulation is 95% similar to the original. It now has a light patchouli note in its base, which makes it earthier, less sweet and more grownup, although the difference is subtle and untrained noses might not detect it. Other than this, the notes are practically identical to the old Lolita Lempicka. Violet and cherry are both present too. It's kept its icy earthy spiciness that makes it unique, mysterious and unlike the newer Mon Premier Parfum's sweet baby powder accord. If you want a dark spicy gourmand, you need this in your life. On the downside, sillage is a bit weaker than the old version, and longevity is only moderate on skin. I haven't tested longevity on clothes.

I’ve been wear of this perfume since 2005 or 2006! It had been my signature for almost 20 years! (Edited to add; i wore THE ORIGINAL for 20 years, this version was gifted to me a few years ago...) Two years ago I ran out of the last original formulation bottle i had and was gifted he new formula It does smell the same but less potent, less strong, a tad watered down and lighter but still the same beautiful scent I always said this is what’s fairy would smell like! A sexy fairy! This is whimsical, youthful, romantic, magical! It is a very beautiful sweet scent! A gorgeous blend of fruits and flowers and that anis just adds a touch of spice for the sexiness!

I am just late to the game with this one! Never having tried the OG, this smells beautiful to me! The bottle is also beautiful with all the facets and hints of ivy! To me, this smells of cherries, and licorice the whole way through. I happen to love cherries and licorice (I'm a Good & Plenty addict!) Its a dark fragrance and for me, best suited for Fall and Winter. Today is a cloudy and blustery day and this is the perfect scent to enjoy the day! I am not sure how it projects off of me, I'm in the office and no one has commented... It seems to last about 6-8 hours on me. I cant stop smelling my wrists...it's a love!

I was madly in love with the original version (1997) so I bought a bottle from Ebay and, unfortunately, it had turned and didn't smell quite right. I bought the current version hoping it would at least be similar. I was pleasantly surprised. The only discernable difference is that the current version doesn't smell as strong, otherwise, it smells exactly as I remember. I wish I would have gotten a bigger bottle. If you liked the original then I don't think you'll be disappointed with the new version.

This perfume is my youth, my mom always wore this or Sun from Jill Sanders, anyway long story short it's nostalgic for me and means very much. I like to wear this to work or actually anytime of the day, it's not quite inoffensive but I like a perfume with character to it. This give me fog in the woods with sun falling trough the trees vibe. the scent itself is sweet but if you wear it right you can create a mysterious aura with it :)

My favorite and signature perfume! When I felt it for the first time, it was like in a fairy tale: I fell in love, became addicted and could never be without it. If a fairy had a scent it would be him! It reminds me of magic, in me I find a sweet baby smell that I'm not sure which note it refers to, and it's not cloying at all, it's pleasant and goes with all occasions. For me, the perfect perfume! Master!

i really love this scent, it's so comforting. at first i wasn't a fan until i wore it after a shower at night and ever since then i've been hooked and wear it nearly everyday. i've been told it smells like hairspray on me but it is such a comforting scent that's so easy to grab and spray before walking out. I like to layer it with sweet lolita lempicka sometimes too

Probably one of my top 3 favorite blind buys. I LOVE apple scents. It makes me feel tart, crisp, and pretty like apple cider or apple pie. It's kind of intoxicating and I adore it. I feel like it smells like apple pie/cider in the initial spray but dries down into a floral apple. I'm obsessed and can't wait to try more Lolita scents 🤩

This is my favourite perfume of all time, it makes me feel ethereal, mystical, like a little woodland fairy running through a forest with lots of purple flowers. Definitely a strong contender for my coffin scent. Never had a single compliment wearing this perfume though, I guess some people can’t smell the magic.

OMG, finally!!! I am so happy they released it again. People were selling the original one on Ebay for outrageous prices and I took a chance and ordered the new formulation and tested side by side with the original. They are 99% identical! On me, they also last about the same time and same silage. So happy!

this is one of those “me in a bottle scents” for me. sweet spicy sexy licorice cherry bomb... it really does smell like a fairy 🧚🏻 she’s baking anise cookies in her little tree house and putting on cherry lipgloss... slutty and whimsical at the same time...... everything i want in a fragrance.

I was a bit skeptical of this one when I first got it since it's scent isn't one I usually wera but it grew on me. The scent is very strong, kinda like incense and a bit spicy, not a scent many people would like but still would get it again.

This fragrance is so unique! Even if the current version is not as strong, it still mantains the licorice/anise lovely escense. Love it!!!!

I enjoy this unique fragrance, it definitely gives me the impression of a whimsical fairyland. The anise/liquorice notes are magical!

My signature fragrance...first smelt this off a client in the salon I worked In when I was 15 I was washing her hair and I had never smelt a perfume like it...was the best thing I ever smelt...she let me spray it and of course stupid me because the old bottle you pressed the stem of the apple to spray the perfume I had never seen a bottle like that and it broke...she told me she had done it so many times lol...but of course I wouldn’t wash my wrist for a week because I loved the smell...years later I started working in cosmetics and would have my very own supply of Lolita...I had the bath gels,the body creams,soaps,candles I was living my best Lolita life smelling like an absolute living doll...this fragrance was the true aphrodisiac...so come 2014/15 she stopped making the original and came out with le premiere which was a dupe for gurlain le petite robe...I did wear this but it wasn’t giving me my old sex goddess vibes...so I stopped until last year the relaunch of the original I was very excited my sister ordered me a bottle for my 30th birthday of the French website...me so excited to smell my long lost love...it arrives and let’s just say it’s close to the original...but it’s not it’s missing something that I can’t put my finger on...I’m devastated I wish they would just sort it out...and also bring back Lolita midnight the sexy dark nighttime version..

My older sister left her half empty bottle of this behind when she went off to college and this became my first big girl perfume when I finished it off for her as my signature scent in jr. High. I recently purchased a bottle of this as an adult and while I can tell it’s been reformulated and doesn’t smell the exact same as my sister’s bottle, I like it! There’s a lot going on in this one with the notes but I mostly get a spicy powdery vanilla. The new juice is a lot heavier and a lot less fresher than my sister’s old bottle. Definitely not something I would wear in warmer weather. The new bottle also no longer looks like an apple with the cute little stem on top. I wish they would’ve kept that.

El aroma es muy rico: Dulcecito, floral y bien delicado de forma que no te hace pasar desapercibida. No es de esos perfumes que cuando entras a una pieza dicen "empezó a oler super rico" (a menos que te lo hayas echado justo antes de entrar a la pieza), pero si cuando te saludan de abrazo y beso en la mejilla te dicen "ay que rico tu perfume". Yo, a pesar de que me gustó mucho, no me lo volvería a comprar. Yo lo asimilo con un perfume de una mujer como de 25 - 36 años que siempre anda siempre con la cara llena de risa, que le gusta andar en bici y darle migas de pan a las palomas. Lo recomiendo si es que quieres dar esa sensación de "un abrazo de tu tía favorita de la infancia".

This is a nice rendition of Lolita Lempicka for the masses.The bergamont rounds out the opening and it helps amplify the iris as the main star. You must love iris. A bit cold and powdery but not overdone. It's beautiful, light and meditative! Someone called this an herbal tea scent which is the rxperience I get when I wear this fragrance. The 1997 formula is dark & heavy (cherry, orris, amber) and actually quite pleasing in the right weather. This is made for those of us that are captivated by the original but have a hard time with the spice, sharpness and darkness.

This isn't going to be a likeable review...........but I actually prefer this to the original. Whoa! Don't jump on me. I found the original to be sharper and pointier. Dryer and full of heat. This little sister to the original is rounder. Luscious and juicier. The licorice is more defined. The dry down is a soft vanilla with spicy florals. However, comparing the bottles, I prefer the older version. This new one feels extremely cheap, lacks intricacy, and is just boring. I guess everybody has their favourites.

I used to go on late night drives with my best friend when I was younger. This smells like that, nostalgia and cherry car air freshener and getting diet cokes at the drive through McDonald’s. I don’t know how this perfume encompasses all those things, the notes aren’t even right but my brain connects it to that, I didn’t even wear it at that time. I wish the longevity was better, and I find I don’t reach for it very often, it’s more of a novelty because of how it makes me feel.

I blind bought this after finding a great deal on it and let me say - no regrets! This is a very unique and interesting composition - sweet but not cloying, a little sharp and spicy but well balanced. I get the licorice at the top, grounded with a lot of vanilla and tonka.

Ordered a decant and it smells nice. I actually like it, but not enough to get a full bottle.I think my aunt used to wear the OG version of Lolita back in the day; it reminds me of her.

I haven't tried the original, and thus I don't have a benchmark to compare it to, but I like it! It's a nice, sweet licorice that lasts well enough on me.

Licorice punch! I really like it. Very sexy and mainly for nighttime. A bit strong for me but it wears nicely on my skin.

My roommate wore the vintage version of this 20 years ago. I used to be intrigued by the super sweet trail she left, but never enough to pick it up and wear it on my own—I had a floral and musk thing going on at the time and maybe turned my nose up at it. Who knows. Then I randomly bought it this summer on a buying spree and I couldn’t stop spraying it once i got it. I have a huge dent in this bottle. Like halfway empty. And I bought a couple more. For what it’s worth, I think I my favorite may be the first bottle design change and reformulation that no one likes. I have had a really hard time trying to figure out which ones to hunt down and their differences. I appreciate the reviewers who broke it down below. I also have vintage ones with darker juice I’ve tried, they are all amazing, but not enough to deal with the apple stem atomizer. Cute but I have a hard time spraying them. The anise and vanilla and cherry, all immaculately blended to a lip smacking perfection. It doesn’t smell childish or juvenile like many sweets can. It is a surprisingly cold and seductive combination of sweet and powder. I wear this when want to smell like a violet candy forest. Then I can’t stop wearing it, to the point where I am refreshing it constantly throughout the day, even though it’s still there. I’m currently taking a much needed break and I think I’ll put it away until next summer. This is another one everyone should try at some point just to experience — it’s quite an unusual fragrance and I haven’t smelled much anything like it since. I see some people comparing this to Delina and Guerlain Robe Noir and I’m sorry this smells absolutely nothing remotely like either of those scents. At all. Ive tried Sweet and Si Lolita and wasn’t moved—at some point will pick up Lolita Land, I think I saw that Mr. Kurdijan did that one.

I found this at a Khol's recently and was excited to try it. I have Lolitaland by LL, and it's become a favorite, so I thought I'd try Lolita Lempika by LL. My initial thought when I sprayed this was that it smells like the late 90's. I get a little bit of the bergamot when I first spray it, immediately followed by vanilla, iris, and black cherry. The nostalgia kicks in and I'm reminded of Victoria's Secret's Passionate Kisses body splash, which I doused myself in from 7th grade until it was discontinued. LL is not a "warm" scent, which tends to mesh best with my natural scent, but the dry down is so soft and powdery, that it works for a couple of hours. LL is not as strong, sweet, or fruity as VS's Passionate Kisses. As LL dries down, somehow it also reminds me of clean clothes fresh out of the dryer. Then it becomes soft baby powder with the faintest hints of cherry, tonka bean, and licorice, until it fades away. I smell patchouli in this, but it is so light that if you hate patchouli, I think that you might still like this. Lolita Lempicka by LL is not "me", but because of the familiar smell and softness, I find it comforting. I've grown out of the "passionate kisses" cherry vanilla phase of my life, so I probably won't be reaching for this much, but it is nice.

There has been so much hype around this fragrance as every 80s - 90s baby here has some nostalgia around it. My best friend in hidghschool had this fragrance. She also was into the carcharel fragrances. I bought this last night as a blind buy as I was interested in trying it for a few years due to positive reviews on this website. It's not for me. It smells like a more sophistiacted perfume for teens and reminds me of Dr Pepper and matures into a tonka bean. When I was a teen, I was more of a Sunflower by Elizabeth Arden and Jadore by Dior girl. I do like Gourmand fragrances but this one doesn't sit right on me. I hope I can gift it to a friend as honestly it's not my personal taste at all. I'll see how it goes after a few hours. First 15 minutes is a no.

I struggle to review this because I loved and wore the OG Original so much. This has had all the oomph that made the original so interesting and unique taken out. It lacks something (I have a feeling it’s the musk and the loss of the star anise and cherry notes) that gave the original this boozy, radiant and lasting quality. This is the 99% fat free version of the 1997 formulation. Wearing this now is like wearing a scarf that the original had been sprayed on - the identity is discernible but it’s missing the body. That being said, I can see this being very good for those who like the idea of gourmands (in the vein of Angel) but struggle with how heavy and polarising those scents are.

Synthetic and girly sort of sharp at the beginning dry down is not bad not really lasting feels really cheap not really a fan it’s seems like a spring fragrance nice for a walk in nature I guess Update a year later autumn comes and I can’t stop sniffing this I’m actually really enjoying the the latest release 2021 which seem to capture my attention like no other although I have a huge collection of Dior and mugler this definitely is fairytale like makes me feel younger and lighter and who doesn’t want to feel like that Give this a try especially during the colder months it’s worth it I think this is perfect for Halloween

Found this on the Shoppers Drug Mart $22 shelf so had to try it. I regret blind-buying it, but not because I don't like it. It's OK...very licoricey, slightly leathery, fresh-spicey. However it smells a LOT like Guerlain Little Black Dress Black Perfecto AND Ma Robe Hippie Chic, both of which I already have and am really only lukewarm about. If you're looking for a less-expensive replacement for those, look no further.

This is my least favorite formulation It doesn’t match up with the real original formulation at all. The dry down is heavy on iris and a bit smoky, and reminds me of a cheaper version of Shalimar Millesime Iris. I much prefer the formulations with denser violet and anise notes. Hard to keep track of this fragrance’s incarnations why can’t they just bring back the one from back in the day

I'm glad I tried this perfume, as part of my foray into smells I might not typically go for but want to experience to familiarize myself with different notes. I can't compare it to the actual original LL, but I'm getting a lot of cherries in this one...but the cough syrup type. A thin scent. Noncommittal spring/summertime smell, but would not repurchase.

i wish this one lasted on the skin longer... its very light and feminine but not super basic as it has a mild spice to it. i also wish the liquorice note came through a bit more :-( overall its not my thing but i absolutely see the appeal.

Agree with other reviews this is nothing like original ,it's like a cheap body mist imitation,it's a completely different scent more like fairy dust it's pretty,but if you smelled original you would understand the reviews~on here~

I really thought this would be a smash hit for me given the notes, but this is just very mediocre. I am glad I just have a small sample for test and didn't blind buy a whole bottle. I don't think this is a safe blind buy.

A strangely herby opening...then licorice and violet, becoming progressively sweeter. Not as sweet and intense as what I was hoping for. Skin scent within 1 hour, poor longevity, cute bottle 💜

I wanted to enjoy this fragrance; with its notes of violets, iris, and musk, it sported gorgeous fairy tale imagery in its campaigns, along with a highly dedicated fan base. And yet. I found it so sickly sweet with overbearing licorice and anise; several of my friends noted that I smelt of blueberry muffins, baked tarts (more than once), and boiled sweets. Perhaps I have outgrown Lolita Lempicka as a key candidate wearer as the notes never sat well. I passed along my gently used bottle to a teenage girl, of whom was ecstatic to receive it. I admit it smelt very sweet and cute on her. Lolita Lempicka remains a scent for garden fairies perhaps, but less so for enticing witches living in the dark wood.

I wanted to smell and also get a sample of this perfume from my mom. She came to pick me up after spraying on herself it and I thought that she had smoked a cigarette and then sprayed perfume. I wish I was joking. It reminded me of back when my mom worked at Nordstrom selling fragrances - it smelled like a fragrance counter girl after smoking a cigarette on her lunch break. Thinking perhaps it was just her chemistry I tried it on myself. Though now that I have tried it, I still don’t think I would buy this. The scent is actually fairly soft, warm and lightly spicy. After wearing it for about an hour I still wasn’t impressed. After 2 hours I couldn’t even smell it on my arm.

No. Just... no. No other words than that it’s absolute f*ckerage. It’s a watered down version of the OG. Longevity and sillage as I’ve known it is no longer the case. I want the OG and it’s whimsical, enchanting scent back. Where anise and ivy frolicked for days on a scarf that caught a light spritz. I’m a sad panda. :(

Original, really? Smells nothing like the original. All I get is laundry musk and some liquorice. If you like that sort of thing I'd suggest it for winter. If not, get a vintage.
