Minuit Noir

This is a very warm, mysterious violet-y scent with a bittersweet-ish medicinal vibe, almost like carmex lip salve, but not quite as sharp. It smells much like Lush's "Bathos" to me in the opening, but the violet demures to the other notes in the drydown. I've never been a fan of patchouli -too many unwashed potheads in the art department gave it a bad rep- but in this mix it just *works* for me. I can't stop sniffing it...! I'll be the first one on the bandwagon to bitch about the annoying amount of nearly-identical LLs, but this one is most definitely not like the others. The others are much too sweet for me and all pretty much have vanilla, which is a no-go. I WAS hoping for a bit more dominant licorice, but this mix is so perfect for me in its strangeness. It's like that all the ingredients are so evenly matched as to be almost unable to pick out single notes. The sweetness here is mainly from the violet, so no headaches for moi! (THANK YOU, JAYSUS!) If anyone's looking for that discontinued bottle of "Bathos" or her sweeter sister "TucaTuca," this will probably tide you over till the Kitchen re-releases it (if they ever do)! Edit: Man, I really love this, but it doesn't seem to last long. Maybe a couple hours. The upside is that I haven't managed to overspray myself...yet. Definitely slap on some lotion or fragrance oil before you apply this to get better longevity. The violet lasts longer if you spritz clothes, too, by the way. This is probably one of the ONLY perfumes I'd ever say to spray on clothes.

Wow! This fragrance just reminded me why i love the world of fragrances. It really took me on a journey. Based in the reviews that said the licorice/leather notes were super strong i knew i wanted to have a bottle of this. It is deliciously excentric and bold. The silliage and projection are top notch too, perfect for those who like to express. With these LP Minuit flankers there is this nostalgic scent, some say is plasticky it reminds me of blowing up a blow up ring for the pool. Very nostalgic. And it oddly reminds me of the one good part of american cream from lush, the slightly fruity and dreamy creamyiness — combined with licorice, tonka, and leather. Although I personally dont get much of the Iris and Violet thats listed. All in all, it’s not just raw leather and licorice chaos; there’s a sleek, refined edge underneath that sharp intensity. Like a perfectly tailored black leather jacket that’s both dangerous and sophisticated. I can see it embodied in a dark dressed person. Think — a gorgeous black latex wearing domme, a leather wearing troublemaker or a mature and alluring sharp featured gothic person. Yes im being gender neutral here, as it smells very intersex to me. Lolita Lempicka Minuit Noir, a perfume for the sleek and bold excentric!

I just received this in a swap. With 2 other Midnight editions already in my collection I didn't go after this sooner. And I was convinced that nothing could be the original fragrance. It seems I might have been wrong there. Despite the obvious similarity to the original, it's also quite different. It lacks that herbal earthy quality, which I like. But this version is more rounded, darker and at the same time quite mellow. It starts with fairly sharp liquorice but settles within a few minutes. The liquorice remains noticeable, but it doesn't dominate. The perfume is so well blended that no other note stands out, no obnoxious or even noticeable patchouli, in case you were worried. It has a delicious cozy quality without smelling edible or immature. The most ironic detail about this is that I hate liquorice outside perfumery. This is an unreserved recommendation to anyone to get their hands on this beauty. I'll probably hunt for another bottle myself.

this smells exactly like that one "boiling coca cola for 1 hour and see how it becomes in your body!!" experiment in opening, very grotesque licorice and you can see why this is discontinued. then dries down to a beautiful incensy gothic thing after top note licorice becomes better melded with other notes. it also reminds of a cat's fur after the cat has been sunbathing for a time along with the incesiness, beautifully incensy and complex but straightforward at the same time. there is definetly a leather (subtle) and incense accord in this one despite what this page says. and it becomes pure cat fur when only the base notes are remaining. not a safe blind buy tho it wont suit everyone's liking for sure. i dont compare this to other minuits bc they were never sold in my reigon

Tried this on my husband and he said although he doesn't think it smells feminine (though he loves it on me), it's not something he would wear only because he prefers more complexity. This is thick, intoxicating black licorice, very linear. I don't get any sharpness at all, just creamy black licorice....very dark and heady. My husband actually loves QUEEN by Queen Latifah for its creamy spiciness and thinks it should have been marketed as unisex. I agree! That one smells wonderful on a man! I, however, LOVE Minuit Noir on my husband, but I will just continue to wear this one for myself, and I DO!! I get tons of compliments when I wear this. Longevity is wonderful, just one spritz for the whole day, and MONSTER sillage!!!! I LOVE it!

Thought it will be "just another flanker" of regular cute Lolita in this blind swap, but it turned out I have got quite a Dark-Hearted-Charmer, who locked himself up in a wine cellar and decided to stay there for a week. In darkness and good company of his own. Very unisex opening, in that dusty-dry slightly apothecary liquorice, that not sweetened, but salted, it is very reserved, withdrawn, with dark mystery and seriousness. Then it becomes almost edible, but such anise-ginger cookies you can bake just for Halloween from dark flour and cover them by bitter chocolate. I really like it, because it is different from other Lolitas I have tried and own. Positively intriguing, with touch of danger.

This is like hot, instantly warming, sweet (but not too sweet), dark red winter drink with some spice and some alcohol added to bring a freezing soul to life again. I smell a dark, concentrated licorice, some black currant notes ( not listed and maybe existing only in my imagination due to the associations with that hot drink) and a bit of cherries in liqueur. In this hot drink I don't find any patchouli ( and maybe it's good), so if it's there, it's so shy and well blended that it doesn't destroy all that thick, mysterious wonder I like to taste sitting near the window in a small cafe, watching the rain drops running over the window pane and dreaming.

Really mixed feelings on this; I am a huge fan of the original so I bought this version blind on-line, and yes it's a sweetly DELICIOUSLY strong licorice, but zero sillage and it fades after an hour into a poor vanilla! The original lasts all day and has good sillage. Don't get me wrong,I would not have missed this divinely beautiful version of Lolita Lempicka, and I can live with the low sillage for it's close dark softness, but it's sad that after an hour it's gone,like Cinderella at midnight. It should be re-named Lolita Cinderella at Midnight!!! Oh, if only it lasted, SIGH.

LL Minuit Noir is the intense, warmer and more sensual sister of LL Le Premier, both are equally sophisticated. Minuit Noir is better suited for evening wear and colder days. The liquorice note is very prominent and distinctly LL. This unique fragrance will definitely grow on you if it's not love at first sight. It leaves a lasting impression, dark and magical, pulling you in. A must have to add to your LL collection when you want to stand out from the crowd. As always the beautiful bottle hints at the elixir on the inside.

So glad I bought this blind. This is the first perfume I've tried with a prominent licorice note, and I found it to be heavenly. To my surprise, the opening was much more of a medicinal anise, bold and dark while still making room for the powdery floral notes upon drydown. There's a very subtle leather undertone, smooth and buttery and blends beautifully with the patchouli note. It's spicy, sultry, intoxicating, and surprisingly soft at the very end.

this smells exactly like those black licorice pipes you buy at costco in the big pack, mixed with some violet to make it even stronger licorice, with a tad of iris and a pinch of patch. Not such a good description. The dry down is reminiscent of the original lolita, it has a creamy drydown that isn't as edgy as the first hard core licorice spray. I love this, as I love love love strong black licorice. This is nice and unique for sure.

Norgirl expressed everything I would say about this fragrance.Dark moist forest-oh, yes. It is beautiful, dark and cozy like a cashmere sweater ; it is chocolaty(it doesn't smell like chocolate, but it has the same kind of richness). Love it. I have original LL and several limited editions. Although i like them all, this one is different, the shape of the bottle is the only similarity they bear, in my opinion. Beautiful!

Dark Licorice, Powdery Iris, and Chocolaty Patchouli. This is the most unisex of the women's collection. This and Midnight Couture are my favorite of the feminine marketed Lempickas. Although, Midnight Couture is fruitier with a heavy lean on Jasmine. For those that say this reminds them of Illusions Noires Au Masculin / Au Masculin Intense, I would agree. Amazing stuff.

Gothic, cold, elegant, SEXY, darkness. It was love at first sniff & I bought the last one on the shelf! I was ready to grab another one after that initial assault on my senses - as I thought that LL understood my SOUL!! LOL This discontinued princess of darkness is to be treasured. In a cold place. In a dark place. Emerging only at the darkest hour. Oh. Yes.

Sweet and evil. Lolita Lempicka Minuit Noir will always be my witching hour perfume--my house reeks of it on Halloween. Sugar spells and dark iris magic, wicked candy licorice and violet patchouli brew. It's nicely powdery, keeping the juice intriguing--fey dust rather than cloying syrup. Lasts all Samhain and charms sleeves for days after.

This one is quite sticky, oily, warming, dark, mellow and mysterious.. I guess it can be more appropriate for brunettes..

after having this for a wild now. i love it more and more . It not the kind off perfume i wear everyday . but this is truly a gem when i feel i need some cosy perfume , something to chare me up . i go for this . it makes me feel sexy, strong and very feminin:) the Liquorice is very strong yes , Dark and mysterios whit the Patcholi. Like in a deep dark moist forest. the Iris Lingers and makes it feminin, the Violet is not very strong , but i can feel a little off its sweatnes to. This is a long lasting perfume for shure . this i spray one and it lasts and lasts all day , even better staying power then the Original .In the end when its realy settled . (hours one the skin)its a lovely Vanillic, chocolaty smell left on my skin , realy jummy. but it is a bit strange , some times its there and sometimes it just disaper befor i get to that stage . In colder weather it stays Whit the vanilla feel (i think) i realy love it . Realy good to spray together whit the original aswell to make the Licuorice stick out a little bit more :) I would add to the note to thouse who like the Original and expect this one to smell like the same type off liquerice , Its note the same . this one is darker and more true to the Natural Liquorice :)

Definitely the most licorice of all the LL that I’ve tried, and by that I mean in your face sharp bitter Dutch licorice that my Opa used to love, not the creamy sweet stuff we as kids preferred. It does soften (and sweeten slightly) as you wear it but there’s no light in this fragrance, it is dark, darker, darkest. To say I’m a massive fan of the Lolita Lempicka house is an understatement and I tend to favour the Midnight/Minuit series than the lighter Jolie/blanc/forbidden flower flankers - but this took it beyond any of the other midnight range. Yes along with with licorice (did I mention the licorice?) there is a leather accord on me, some strong medicinal Jäegermeister with the tiniest vanilla follow through in the dry down. I feel like I’m lost deep in the dark woods on a moonless night and the witch is about to appear. Not sorry I bought it though, love the bottle and it makes a beautiful addition to my collection. Edit; Came back after a few hours to say like many others that this has softened to an almost buttery vanilla. After the initial midnight excitement, a dawn has broken through that invokes a warm feeling of being tucked safely bed with the fire crackling as a quiet snowstorm sets in - I love it!

Well, I'm not sure why this is not marketed as a unisex fragrance. I'm not sure why it was given the same apple bottle of the other flacons in this line. While I have found VERY LITTLE discernible difference between the LL flankers, this is DEFINITELY ITS OWN ANIMAL. On my skin it opens quite warm and spicy in a masculine way, like a warm spiced drink (not boozy). It then morphs into this sweet very oily black licorice with a little bit of patch garnish. I don't get any resemblance to the original or any of its sisters, this to me is more like their older brother with his very own rebellious personality. This is a pleasant olfactory surprise if you like different or androgynous, spicy fragrances or disappointing if you're hoping for another similar variation of the original. The biggest disappointment is it has ZERO lasting power, maybe 2 hours on my skin then not a trace even with heavy application. It lasted on my clothes slightly better but only after a second heavy application. For this to open with such a bang and such promise, it ends with not more than a finger pressed to lips "ssshhh".

I happen to like the smells of both licorice and Play-Doh, which are the two main things this evokes for me. Blasphemous as it may sound, I might even pick this over the original LL when asked which one do I want to spray on. Still, I'm probably not going to buy either one, so Minuit Noir will remain just that - something to try on when I'm feeling a bit childish.

First impression: if the OG Lolita Lempicka is Good & Plenty candies, then Minuit Noir is the dark, astringent, bitter Scandinavian black licorice you get at IKEA. Definitely an acquired taste but as someone who adores the OG and the other midnight flankers, I'm excited to give this a go (I did just blind buy a massive bottle secondhand). ETA: what I did not expect as it dries down is how much the violet is pumped up in this one. I barely get any violet in the OG or eau de minuit, but here once the bitter licorice dissipates, there's so much, like those old fashioned pastilles that come in an oval tin. Maybe a tiny touch of vanilla. Almost no sweetness whatsoever. Where is the patchouli people were complaining about though?

That doesn’t smell nice to me... Harsh combination of burnt plastic and spicy - is not something I’d gravitate towards.. it’s getting a bit better and smoother and I can actually smell the licorice note but I just can’t pass by the initial impression.

Crikey, tried this today in Selfridges to continue my licorice obsession. Shocked to find it smelt truly awful on me. Upon application and later in the dry down it smelt overidingly like burnt rubber and plasticine. I'm not sure if heliotrope is contained in this but it had the same sort of cloying whiff as the Etro Heliotrope fragrance that has the same effect on me. I'm a fan of scents that mean business, but this heavy experience has left me feeling sick through about 8 arm washes!

I tried Minuit Noir while having reached to the conclusion that all the apple shaped licorice based Lolitas are safe bets for me. Well, to put it upfront this is the exception to the rule. The patchouli here is raw, oily and medicinal. Along with the already broody licorice and nothing to balance the combo out the outcome isn't pleasant. Smells like a dark unisex experimental niche to me and I don't mean it as a compliment.

I have bought this one blind, and i don't regret it. I was a little bit afraid because of the reviews, it has a dark start, pretty heavy, the licorise is pretty strong at first, but later on it became softer, but still strong enough. There is no fish smell imo, i realy like this one. The drydown is the best part. The next day a delicious soft caramel smell had left on my skin.

Disgusting. Like a dry salted licorice rubbed on wood with some antiseptic cleaner from a veterinarians office. Wet dog. Ugh. I smell like a wet dog.The drydown/base were much more pleasant with more patchouli showing. I still hate it if I sniff my skin but I like the wafts of sweet fruity skank that I get indirectly off of me. This is strong stuff and lasting.

I would like to know, if this can be used like unisex?! I heard it's strong and sharp frag...

Totally not what I was expecting, but really nice! Don’t be afraid of the heavy licorice, it’s not really there. There’s an opening blast of benzoin settling down into straight, spicy, plummy Coca-Cola. Just powdery enough to not be cloyingly sweet.

So, I've been curious about this for some time. I collect every LL I can afford and find, and I 100% believe the Minuits are the same juice, just a different bottle every year. Except this one. The reviews are right, and I probably should have steered clear, but I wanted it for my collection and wanted to finally smell it. (Blind buy-- I wouldn't even KNOW how to sample older LLs, I live in the middle of nowhere Michigan) This opening was LOUD pure black licorice. Like Jaegermeister and licorice candy. It was pretty freaky, and a dislike. I had tried it on paper only, and eventually it calmed down and the drydown was quite lovely... vanilla and licorice. Like molasses cookies. I want to try this on my skin to see if it lasts, and if I can get that drydown. Otherwise, this will be perfect for layering with LL and the Minuits. It will probably give a boost to the licorice and longevity. I have nothing against licorice, in fact I love it in perfumes (not to eat)- this is just EXTREME licorice. I'm so glad I didn't write this off!!! This morning, I applied directly to my skin to see what happened... I intended to layer with LL or another Midnight, but this developed and held it's own-- and I do love it! It's actually similar to the Midnights after all... I get the Licorice (much less potent after 30 seconds), Vanilla, and the powder. It's lovely! A spicy dark vanilla. Truly beautiful after all! Doesn't seem that strong, I used about 8 sprays over the morning to hopefully last all day. Not sure about lasting, but I'm really happy now! This is a love!! I'm still getting whiffs at 4pm of a spicy vanilla. I know it's the licorice, but the vibes are like Dior Addict. I love this! I'm so glad it works on me!

I expected an enthralling Fairytale Noir because limited editions of LL often are more intriguing that the original one, the more puzzled and disappointed I felt. The fairytale is completely lost here and I agree with the SA who said it’s a new twist of Lolita (not a repetition of the previous ones). Suddenly I got a clue what this puzzle is all about: this Lolita Noir took a John Galliano turn. Its iris, violet and patchouli (the common notes they share) are suspiciously accentuated in a John Galliano style, but still sound herbal- dreary. Neither gourmand, nor gothic. P.S. From June 2011: 1. I've re-tried it and started feeling some not related to classic Lolitas originality one might like once she/he gets used to, once forgets the primary source. 2. I'm not being mean, just have seen at basenotes, quoting: "Demachy began his perfumery career at the age of 22 and his first “olfactory composition” was used in “a perfume for a certain type of fodder to give to horses to improve their appetite. It was based on licorice.” :)))

OK, so, this one should come with a warning label. If you're not a big fan of black licorice, don't even go near it! I am, however; even though my cranked-up blood pressure keeps me from eating licorice very often, it's still one of my favorite things in the world. I'm not sure why they even bother to list any notes in Minuit Noir other than licorice - on me, this is the fragrance equivalent of a big bag of black licorice candy fish, from beginning to end. And while I love licorice fish, I wouldn't particularly want to wear them as perfume. So this one gets both a big YES and a heartfelt NO from me. I did find the perfect use for Minuit Noir, though. See, something in my chemistry eats up all the gourmand notes of the original LL, leaving only ivy, patchouli and old dirt. But with a base coat of Minuit Noir, it's just perfect! And just by sniffing some Minuit Noir, it'll be almost like eating licorice, as often as I want!

I would recommend it only for special occasions as it is a rich scent that is TOO strong. Of course, it lasts for ages and its excellent lasting power is a major advantage. I don't think that it has similarities to the original Lolita Lempicka, since it's not sweet or floral. In my opinion, it is a scent that has been made in order to revealthe hidden parts of sensuality and free our mysterious spirit... I bought it without even testing it as I am a huge fan of the original Lolita Lempicka and I asssumed that this would be a richer version of the initial one.Fortunately, I bought it at a great discount, otherwise I would have regretted this. Although I get compliments when I wear it, I am not always in the mood for it. If this was less intense, it would be a perfect perfume for the cold winter nights.

Sweet Jesus! As much as I love literally all Lempicka's fragrances, I cannot understand why is the designer house releasing the same fragrance all over and all over again???? Mercy!!!!! I have so far tried 4 different Minuits and they ALL SMELL THE SAME!!! Why put exactly the same juice into a different colour bottle? With all due respect to Minuit - which is a little pet in my perfume collection - I am tired of trying yet another Minuit that smells just the same as predescessors!!!! Ms Pividal - you are better than that, so stop clowning around and copying your own fragrance just to make more money and create something that will get us down on our knees like you did with your signature fragrance and L de Lolita instead! Amen.

I was looking forward to the dry salted licorice rubbed on wood, actually, but the first sniff of the sample makes it smell a LOT like L’Heure des Nuit. First tried on skin, the alcohol makes it smell rotten, but it dries fast to powdery licorice violet, then past that to a tarry dark sweetness without clear licorice notes, but shades of it, an almond powder tint and resin notes. It's very pretty with a full dry down of marshmallows and labdanum. Nice! Obviously it agrees with my chemistry.

MUCH different from the original LL and all the Midnight/ Minuit editions (which I LOVE). I am so happy to have most of them. This MINUIT NOIR is SO STRONG on the licorice. It is not even a sweet and delicious licorice, it is a pure and harsh licorice. Not pleasant to my taste!! This could definitely be unisex. The "medicinal" vibe that you get at the first spray goes away within a minute, but this combo licorice/patchouli is too much for me to enjoy.

I found this on sale at a local drugstore. I couldn't test it before buying, but it's OK. All of the dark Lolita's smell (almost) the same, right? WRONG. There's one very distinctive note - something salty, with a kind of herbal, medicine-ish feel. I guess that's licorice. I'm not sure how I feel about wearing it solo, but it's great for layering with other LL's flankers. It gives them this 'oomph' they usually lack - depth and spiciness.

itried this one in fact it start as abomb of licorice for five minutes then it dry down to very soft version of origin lolita but not as sweet as it is then it disappear although when ismelt it on papper icould not stand the smell but next day iwent to the shop and try on my skin and the result was what iwrote above and finaly as other say what stay long in your body may be doesnot stay on my body always try perfume in ur skin

I tried this at the drugstore, and i liked it. But the most thing im concerned about is whether it is longlasting or not. I need a sweet ( but not too sweet )strong, seductive perfume that actually matches my age (15yrs). DOES ANYONE HAVE ANY IDEA ABOUT THIS? PLZ write more reviews about its ( sweetness, strenghth, long-lasting, seduction, and its balance.)

Oh my god, what a strange perfume. It's really smell strong licorice but hopefully there's a sweet feminine violet note that soften the ''violent'' opening. Definitely, Minuit noir is more a niche type perfume than a commercial one. It's not store friendly but I like it. It's unusual but really beautiful. After just a few weeks of use, I adore it.

I am a HUGE fan of most LL perfumes, but this one was all black licorice to me, yuck. I thought it might just be the top notes, but no, the licorice stayed. I have been gutted to find that the other limited editions were indeed limited, because I tend to like them better than the first scent, but this one I left on the shelf!

Oily, dark and not very sweet. It stays rather close to the skin, so it doesn't really jump out at folks like Au Masculin can do. It's very unisex, if not more on the masculine side. I find that it's very different from others in the "minuit" series. Worth it...if you can find it.

This to me smelled exactly like the original Lempicka.. however the drydown for me was intolerable. Overpowering..powdery Old Lady Gang scent. I didn't like the drydown at all and it reminded me of my grandmother's next door neighbor lol. I'll just stick to the original.

This one smells so masculine, I'm immediately hooked the first time I smell it. Very dark and sensual. It should be released as Lolita Lempicka au Masculin Noir though. However, the base is kinda boring and generic which keep me from purchasing a full bottle

I love licorice, but also for me it is the equivalent of sweet smell of black licorice fish, from the beginning to the end of salty liquorice. Terrible smell. It's really a pity it was something like produce. You can not use it unfortunately.

Wow, now I know what 'licorice' means in my language, Dutch. This smells just like black licorice, nothing more, nothing less. I kinda like it but I wouldn't buy it, I think...

Smells pleasant, but sort of obtrusive. After 5 minutes of wearing it I get tired. It screams "I'm here" and doesn't let me just to enjoy. Nice, but egoistic perfume.

Not very different from traditional Lolita Lempicka, but heavy on the licorice note. To be honestly, I thought there was some coffee note on the top notes!

eek this is heavy. it is like they took all the good and amped it up way too much. a man could wear this it is very unisex or a very strong woman.

Is it only me that thinks that this one will be a mix af the first Lolita Lempicka fragrance and Feerie from Van Cleef and Arpel?
