Velours Noir

First things first: YAY NEW LEMPICKAS!! I was able to get a sample set through a friend, and boy, aren't all of these just beautiful, dreamy and chic! Six new perfumes, some of them revisit concepts of old Lempickas, and some of them venture into less explored territory. I started the journey through this new private line of Lempicka Paris with Velours Noir. Notes are: Licorice, anis and iris (so, yes, pure Lempicka goodness). This time the classic black licorice of the house is tasty, gummy, edible, almost salty. It dries down to a subtle iris, and stays close to the skin. Pretty unisex. Of the six it's the less unique, since it reminds me too much of the classic le Parfum, although Velours Noir is more gourmand (I even get wiffs of dark chocolate when I move around). The brand has stated that the new perfumes will be available in stores in september, but the retail price hasn't been disclosed yet. I guess we'll see soon enough (can't wait!).

ME TOO Yay for new LEMPS!! I’m a fanatic for iris.. I recently smelled and fell in love with Osafume, a rubbery licorice, almond like scent from niche brand Olympic Orchids. So now I adore licorice. I can’t find these anywhere.. for some reason America doesn’t get certain releases that Europe or elsewhere gets because the masses here in America are cookie cutter, gals usually wear the same fragrance everyone else is wearing.. these days everyone smells cookie dough sweet. .. unfortunately Americans don’t love iris as much as Europe does.. so I’m worried this is not meant for the American market

I was lucky enough to try this one out while at Esxence Milan earlier this month. Ladies! If you love the original DNA found in Lolita Lempicka, this release is a top shelf niche version of it.
