Intense Black

The house of Lomani gets a small amount of attention in YouTube fragrance reviews, but I’ve only seen this particular scent in a couple of videos. You can also categorize this under “gets a lot less attention than it deserves.” According to Fragrantica, on the top there’s Calabrian lemon and Italian bergamot; in the middle, there’s Atlas cedarwood, Persian galbanum, nutmeg, and “herbals notes,” and in the base there’s Indian sandalwood (sandalwood Mysore?), oud, white musk, and incense. It was launched in 2014, and is often cited as a Creed “Royal Oud” impersonator. You can see a few review of Lomani’s “AB Silver,” which is often called an Aventus cologne clone. (You like what I did there?) I openly admit to not smelling Royal Oud, or any other Creed fragrance for that matter, so I can’t do a comparison. I can only tell you what I get as this ages on my skin. Despite the supposed presence of lemon and bergamot, they’re both so evanescent that you only get them for a few brief seconds and then they’re gone – then a gigantic rush of Atlas cedarwood – like opening your grandmother’s old cedar chest of drawers that’s been sitting her basement for decades, but without the fustiness. If you have a promiscuous nose and have smelled hundreds of fragrances, you’ve probably smelled a few cedar-dominant fragrances before, so I’m not sure how unique this really is. It seems like the more niche smells you’re exposed to, the more jaded you can become to well-made designer scents, and that’s a shame. Although oud is listed in the base notes, I’m somewhat familiar with what oud smells like and I don’t ever get agarwood at all – which you’d expect to be noticeably animalic, dirty, and a little “skanky,” especially in combination with the musk and incense that’s in the base. This is much too crisp and bright to be associated with an oud, even though Fragrantica lists it as the third most dominant accord in the scent. This cedar is sharp, masculine, and considering the price point, more refined than I was expecting. (I bought this on sale at a brick-and-mortar scent shop near me for $15.) Much later on in the dry down, you can expect some soft, sweet sandalwood. I couldn’t think of a better way to round out the smell than that. The performance is ... subpar to be kind. It might last 3-4 hours, with maybe an hour’s worth of projection at most. I’ve heard that Royal Oud lasts longer, but I don’t know how long it could possibly last to be worth ten times the suggested retail price of the Lomani. If there was any way to possibly make this a longer-lasting fragrance, with better projection, it would be ideal for cold late fall or winter days. But I’ve found that it doesn’t have the power to cut through the cold well enough, so I use it mostly on more days earlier in the year. (If ONLY they offered this in an EDP version that lasted and projected all day, I’d gladly pay five times what I paid for the EDT.) If you want it to last for more than a few hours, I would suggest carrying around a small decant and reapplying as necessary. And considering the price, this is something you can do liberally without burning too big a hole in your pocketbook.

Goshdooggit...... I just saw a comparison above to Royal Oud..my beloved Royal Oud my top fragrance, what I deem to be a signature and I will tell you what they are pretty close. I mean they are not only in the same zipcode they are in the same community. Ever know someone who buys the smallest house they can afford in an affluent community? Well this is what that is to Royal Oud. You get the benefits of great lawns, schools, great neighbors and a sense of security; however, you aren't in the "more expensive home" Well this one smells like it has been around the affluent. It has rubbed shoulders with the upper class. Not quite there yet but on its way. I give this an easy 5 out 5 at the price point. If you are a fan of Royal Oud this one behaves the same way, not as rich and doesn't possess that Creed status. But check my Lomani Silver Spirit review and what that is to Aventus this one is just a few notches down to Royal Oud.. That isn't a blow to this one but compliment. If you like Royal Oud run out and buy this now!

Intense Black Lomani isn't really an alternative or close to Creed Royal Oud but it has some similarities. It does opens rather close maybe 6-70% at least in the first 15-20 mins but Royal Oud is quality while u can get the normal ME quality in this Intense Black. It ain't really lasting or have good longevity so I'll put it at going to a skin scent within an hour and max 3-4 hrs and you'll hardly smell anything. The og RO lasts longer. You probably need 4-5 spritz on same spot to last half a day longetivity. Good thing this intense black is cheap so just spray it abundantly. It moves off in a different direction after the opening and isn't that close to Royal Oud anymore but by that time you find it hard to properly smell and enjoy the drydown. Good for short wear or day where u can put in multiple sprays.

This is remarkably similar to Creed Royal Oud, which I have loved and used for years. It has been difficult to re-condition my thinking to the fact that I can use this fragrance as a signature scent because I'm so mindful of preserving this aroma for specific formal affairs. I really don't know why it took me so long to procure Lomani Black Intense? I suppose I assumed there was no possibility that a designer fragrance which can be had for $15 could possibly perform up to the standards of a $300 niche scent. Well, I was wrong. I'm so glad I finally took the plunge and procured LBI, allowing me to enjoy this fabulous aroma at the slightest urge!

I bought a bottle of this and I will reflect on this perfume in general. It is very similar to Royal Oud by Creed, especially the middle and bottom notes in RO, it is spot on. It is linear and gives the same smell throughout. The downside though is the longevity and projection, I spray an average of 8-10 spritz and it lasts about 2-3 hours only with acceptable projection. RO has far better longevity and sillage, but you pay for that too. I won't dissect the notes here as its already been done and most people are interested in comparing it to RO by Creed anyway.

It does smell very similar to Royal Oud, but it lasts about 1 hour on my skin, compared to Royal Oud, which lasts about 8 hours. That being said, I was able to pick up 100 ml Lomani Intense Black for about $10. Even if I had to reapply LIB every hour for 8 hours to get the equivalent performance of Royal Oud, Royal Oud would have to only cost about $80 for 100 ml, which it doesn't. And yes, I do think that Royal Oud smells better, but I don't think the average person on the street getting a whiff of your scent trail is going to know the difference.

At some point, I guess you just have to make peace with poor performance. It’s here to stay. Cheap, expensive, warm, fresh, woody, spicy, citrus- it doesn’t seem to matter these days. Lomani Intense Black, you are my ambassador of poor performance, the one who made me not care anymore. What a fantastic, incredible smelling, crappy performing scent. I’ll not complain about how you make me smell like a God for a few hours and then retreat into obscurity. I’ll just pay the $20 and keep spraying, just like your company wants me to. Victory is yours.

I am not in the mood to write a lot today, so I will be brief: It does not attract a lot of compliments just like any other dark oudy scent. It's really made to please the wearer. I love it. I like to use it. It's really inexpensive. It's probably one of my best fragrance deals together with a couple of Ted Lapidus and Jacques Bogart fragrances. Do blind buy it! It's that good. If you can afford Creed Royal Oud you also can afford to buy 15 Lomani Intense Black flasks. I bought just two bottles of Lomani.

Smells pretty good. Drydown reminds me of Blacksoul by Ted Lapidus, however. Longevity and Sillage are both pretty high for me. Can't compare it to Royal Oud, as I haven't had the opportunity to smell it before. It is worth the $14 and some change you will spend on it though. If you have Blacksoul already, or don't prefer the smell of it, I'd pass on this. Otherwise, I say pick a bottle up and use it during the fall/winter or for summer nights.

What a georgeous and rich scent!!! This one makes me feel warm, confident, dangerously sexy and whole. Not to take anything away from it being similar to Creed Royal Oud, but some parts of the dry down also remains me of Versace Blue Jeans. I don't have many Oud frangrances in my collection - because I'm a huge fan of citrus scents, but I can easily see this one becoming my favorite Oud. We'll done Lomani. This one is a winner!

This really deserves more love than it gets, I love niche stuff mostly, but comparing this to my royal oud it's a no brainier which is better and which has better ingredients of course, but this stuff is nice for what it is and when I am in a mood to wear royal oud but want to conserve it. Scent 8/10 Longevity 6/10 Projection 6/10 Get it, it's like $20 shipped on Amazon...

This was a blind buy after reading how similar this is to Royal Oud and I must say I am not disappointed, tbh it is near enough identical. OK the Creed is smoother and more natural smelling but for the money this Lomani clone stands up well against a scent x5 more expensive. If you love Royal Oud but not willing to pay the Creed price tag you will love this. 8/10

Starts out like Royal Oud and then develops toward Spicebomb. Lots of nutmeg here. Interesting scent, and totally unisex. I wasn't expecting to like this since I don't like oud, but I love Lomani Intense Black!

It really smells great for two hours, then gone.

At first, I thought this was going to be a lothsome fragrance, as the first few sprays solely comprised of a very chemically-smelling oud and perhaps pink pepper; very stringent and offensive. I let it sit for a few days and some more of the underlying notes came out. Now it is a fresh spicy blended with the oud, and I rather like it. However, I do not understand why this is named "intense black". It might have a black ambiance to my nose, but It is NOT intense; the fragrance is fresh-spicy, and it has moderate projection and much below average duration. In fact, I did a test with Maison Alhambra's Woody Oud on one arm and Lomani Intense Black on the other, and the latter made the former seem MORE intense and stringently oud-y.

I bought this because I have a bottle of Royal Oud and wanted a similar smell which I could wear daily at an affordable price. I read a few reviews and was a bit sceptical but decided to try a bottle anyway as it's an affordable price. I was surprised by how much this actually smells like Royal Oud, not just similar but at some points it's almost identical. It's a bit less powerful and rough around the edges, but I think that if you wore it around people familiar with Creed they would mistake the two.

Royal Oud is Cedar with a touch of Oud on a Sparkling Ambroxan base. This is Cedar with a touch of Oud on a Synthetic Sweet base. Definitely an incredible value for the money but still a poor performer and by no means a substitute for Royal Oud. On its own merits 4/5 stars. As a Royal Oud clone 2/5. Wilddove nailed it... Opens like Royal Oud and dries down to a scent reminiscent of Spicebomb. Actually I’d give it a 3/5 for a Spicebomb clone.

First 10 minutes is similar to Royal Oud, then it kinda gets its own character. Opens up fresh, and spicy. Then quickly settles into a mellow cinnamon-nutmeg leading cedar, musk, incense smell. I definitely get the nutmeg and its roundness all the way. Which gives that "black/night" vibe and makes it a colder weather scent, Cashmeran bomb needless to say.

Couple people said it kind of smells like an old lady at the beginning. I agree a little but after an hour or so it smells much better (it goes away faster when not indoors) and gets better as time goes by. Like this a lot. I get like a sweet incense smell with this which is nice. You can pretty much wear this anytime.

It's a dead ringer for Royal Oud. Both are heavy on cedar and spices but neither lasts long. 3 or 4 hours tops with Lomani and 5 or 6 hours tops with the Creed. At under 20 bucks it's a no brainer. Chopard Noble Cedar is in the same category as well.

Got this for less than $15 on Ebay. I know the comparisons to Royal Oud abound and while I have nothing to base it on - I will say this smells really good. It's nice and spicy with a musky base. It seems best for cooler days i.e. fall/winter...

Not a clone of royal oud. It has some similarities but its super lackluster and smells cheap. On me it does not last at all and you can tell the price tag.

Strangest thing: I am holding a test strip with Lomani intense black, and one with Burberry Brit for men: in the mid drydown, they smell 100% identical.

As a fragrance on its own this is ok for the price. Nice cedar base with a little spiciness over the top. Longevity is terrible but at the cost you can afford to respray the 4 times you’ll need to to make this last the day, be prepared to decant into travel bottle. As a fragrance to wear instead of Royal Oud I would not recommend if you can instead afford RO. The longevity doesn’t match or the projection and it is severely lacking in the natural green herbal elements from the angelica and galbanum that make Royal Oud so special. It is not a case like Aventus and CDNIM with this one. So buy on its own merits but do not believe the hype and expect Creed on a budget you’ll be disappointed like I was.

For being a cheap fragrance this is a love hate fragrance for me. The Scent is nice at a 7/10 The design is a ok design 5/10 Value at $16 for me is that it is what you pay for.5/10 on value. Longevity is a 2/10 where I get 3hrs which websites say 2hrs.also longevity is horrible. The Opening start out to be beautiful but drydown is where this frangrance loses it. Opening is a 6/10 then to drydown is a 4/10. I get moderate silage. Overall this fragrance is a 4/10. I wont purchase this again

For everyone looking for a Royal Oud alternative by Creed, please look elsewhere. This one is hard to get by and smells nothing like Royal Oud... I don't even understand where this comparison is comming from. It's a sweet synthetic mess... just underwhelming. Save yourself time, money and disappointment with this one, you could try Ministry of Oud - Oud Royal but unfortunately the longevity and siliage is abysmal. What a disappointment.

I still have a bottle i got 3 years ago, it smell bad first 2 mins then its good for 15 mins but only last like 20-25 min max, very weak projection you gotta go like 10+ sprays, it only has the cheap notes from royal oud. There is tons of better value fragrances better than this 2/10 overall just because it smells good for 10 mins

I had a chance to try a few of this type of scent again, and the base "DNA" is very similar. I'm referring to Hanae Mori's HiM and Royal Oud, as well as this one (Fan di Fendi Pour Homme may be yet another one but I haven't worn it in a while). Royal Oud has a bit of weirdness of first, and it's smoother from top to bottom overall, but the smell itself is quite similar in the base of all these (I think the reason I don't like RO is that the galbanum creates a note clash). I prefer HiM because it is the strongest, and there's something about the Lomani base that is a bit irritating. By contrast, I like everything about HiM, and can even mist the air and walk through it if I want a light application (I have both the EdT and the EdP, and both are excellent; not much difference between them). I don't detect anything I'd call an oud note in any of these, and instead I'd say "pumpkin spice" is closer than "oud" in describing the "backbone" of them. So, I like the idea, but it seems as though the formula can be slightly modified to make it almost nauseating to me, so be careful to sample first if you also have had such experiences!

Yep. Royal Oud. I'd heard it. Got a bottle from a reputable stockist for £11 and been testing it. Now, I haven't got Royal Oud as I just can't afford it. I had smelt it before and really enjoyed it from sampling. But just too costly for me. Previously I'd heard about the whole Lomani Silver Spirit-Aventus thing and got a bottle and was really impressed. Surely they couldn't have done it again with the other Creed Frag Head darling? As I say. They have. I've just gone to a Fenwicks with Black Intense on my upper arm, sprayed RO on the lower...the same or near as dammit. I'm no expert nose but it took me back with the side by side comparison. And performance? Seriously, RO is wearing off and Intense Black just keeps on going. On my skin the ceder/sandalwood combo has legs and keeps it going way past the opening. Close to the skin for sure, but it keeps going! RO...5 hours and gone. If you love Royal Oud and can handle the fact it's Lomani and not Creed...£11 vs £120??? It really is a no-brainer.

When I forget that I own a fragrance, it's usually because they leave little to be desired. This bottle right here suffered that fate once even though I really wanted to like it when I first purchased it. While it is not a disaster of fragrance, it certainly is somewhat underwhelming and the only way I can describe my interaction with this frag is 'molestation'. Yeah you heard me. I practically abuse it by spraying so cavalierly whenever I'm in the house and especially when all by myself. The opening puts me off slightly I have to say, but then it later shines in the mid and after notes to something woody, and masculine with a dried out spice of sort. Though it also projects some powdery vibe midway, it doesn't give me the usual happy vibe which perfumes with such notes give me. Projection, longevity and sillage are all average to below average. So a 4.5 out of 10 imho.

Almost a clone of Eau des Baux by L'occitane which is one of the best men's Autumn fragrances of all time. Yes Baux is often dubbed unisex, primarily by Western women. But the perfumer of Baux designed it for men. And I respect any perfumer that does not fall into the unisex trap. He/she designed the fragrance for a specific market/gender/personality. And I respect that. Lomani Intense Black although is similar to the legend Baux, the performance is unfortunately a joke. You will be lucky to get 30 minutes from the Lomani. I actually got so frustrated I just tossed out my bottle. I need to learn cheap fragrances usually suck in performance. Not all the time. But certainly more often than not. BTW the Royal Oud Creed I never smelled. But if I can get the Baux vibe dialed up a notch, the Creed will be on my buy list.

Finally smelled Royal Oud recently in Breuninger store. It instantly hit me that I had this perfume in Lomani Intense Black but I gave it away because of my undeveloped nose back then and different taste. Don't know about other reviews but this is at least 90% similar to Royal Oud, similar projection (maybe a bit better) and for a very good price. If you like Royal Oud, I highly recommend getting this one. Mine is on the way and it will fill my needs of having this profile scent in my collection. The OG Royal Oud is just not worth the money "Greed" is asking for it, for its poor longevity and projection. It has been reformulated to death I'm afraid.

The beauty of Lomani - You can almost NEVER detect any signs of synthetic/manufactured nature to their colognes! They are all pretty natural smelling and VERY darn close to the original cologne they are trying to mimic! Having established that, the Intense Black smells strikingly similar to Creed Royal Oud with just a tad bit of roughness. Is that tiny difference small enough for me to ignore? Absolutely! As much respect as I have for RO, I'd take IB over RO considering the fact that I can have it at a tenth of the latter's price. Sorry Creed...and Lomani, welcome to primetime! :)

I don't know where to start with this one.. It smells really, really sophisticated but I can't seem to to tell whether i've smelt something similar before. It's definitely intense and the incense at the bottom really stands out. The opening note smacks you right in the face as the pink pepper resonates throughout the fragrances entirety. This should be worn ONLY at NIGHT. My wife think it's a super sexy fragrance and so does her co-workers. My opinion : Smell 9/10 Projection 6/10 Sillage 7/10 Longivety 8/10 For this price, this is a definite steal

This is a lovely fragrance, very spicy woody peppery fresh. Just a bit confused about the marketing of "black intense" as I was expecting something super smoky dark and heavy. This is more of a citrus peppery woodsy scent. Give it a green bottle and a more fitting brand name I'm sure this would be worth a lot more on the market as the juice is great! Doesn't last super long but no citrusy scent does often regardless of how expensive it is imo.

Royal Oud without having the Creed quality Poor projection and longivity (didn't get more than 3 hours), but for the price (22 euros), still a good scent. I've got as well a Lomani AB silver spirit (another taking on Creed Aventus), same comments. If Lomani work on strength and longivity, they might have a word to say to Creed's perfumes. in all 6/10

Blackorchids nailed it. This smells 'like' Royal Oud but very synthetic and has that vibe that all lomani (and some other cheap) fragrances have, that synthetic base whatever that is. Its much drier than RO and lacks the amount of Oud. RO smells smoother and balsamic compared to this. Its a cheap replacement to RO, similar and a good cheapie.

Over all smell of this fragrance is very, very, nice. Do not expect this to be sillage monster. This is one of those scents where you wear it for guilty pleasure. A fragrance only you enjoy for yourself. Projection is below average and longevity is average at best. Sits very close to the skin.

If you like Royal Oud by Creed and can't afford it... get this stuff. Side by side no one can tell the difference. However, there are 2 differences. 1.Royal Oud lasts ALL day and this stuff last about 12 hours :) 2. Royal Oud cost @$$ loads of money and this stuff is affordable.

Not a clone of Royal Oud but shares some similiarities. This one gives me an overall sweeter vibe, probably from the bergamot note but i'm not 100% sure. Could have used more cedar for my taste Save up and get Royal Oud, it's not as deathly expensive as Creeds are

Me too...this is my casual Royal Oud. Nice if you are lounging around the house at night and are in the mood...it has what i think is a thick sillage...it drifts around in slow motion from your skin...stay still and it settles.

This is a lite version of Royal Oud. It lacks the amount of Oud that there is in Royal Oud and is a little more balsamic. But I feel they the two are pretty much the same. Very affordable, highly recommended.

As others have said, it's somewhere between Creed Royal Oud and Spicebomb. Really great scent, even if it's gone in 2-3 hours; for $15-20 you can't really ask for a whole lot more than that. 7/10

This is the exact smell of the inside of an orthodox church building during service. Exact same. Incense, incense, incense. Could work on a woman too if you like this kind of smell.

I have Royal Oud. Royal Oud has a smoother opening than Lomani as Lomani a little harsh. In the mid both definitely smell the same. This is very good substitute for Royal Oud.
