Ambre Cello

Citrusy, bitter bergamot is quite a rough opening, but ensures an attention. And then becomes pleasantly tame. Tonka beans comes to the fore: intoxicating tobacco aroma, intermingling with a warm benzoin. In that phase, the scent becomes mystique and bewitching. The base I love the most: calm, vanilla-sweet and heart-warming. It is almost milky, very comforting. I am enchanted by this beautifully developing fragrance. It is truely an art of a virtuoso.

the opening is very sharp, but the dry down is divine honestly. you have to give it some time and patience to develop, it is a divine scent and quite underrated one of this house. though it is a full bottle worthy, but you should try out first.

Beautiful, bright bergamot opening that pulls slightly turpine, like stepping into a luthier shop. Then it’s a warm, sweet, snuggly amber. I wore this everyday in January, to keep my heart warm and spirits up.

Smells extremely close to Myrrhe Imperiale from Armani Privé. For that I love it. If you can't get the Armani Prive this is the best alternative.

#1564 in my "Tour de Fragrance" L'Orchestre's "Piano Santal" is one of the very few scents with a lactonic note that I've really enjoyed and which did not come off too feminine for my taste. So on to another from L'Orchestre! This is another scent where less is more. I have others like it. Carner Barcelona "Ambar Del Sur", Prada "Amber Pour Homme Intense", 4160 Tuesdays "Eau My Soul", Jeroboam "Ambra", which all have that ice creamy vanillic character, which would be common and boring if not for the myrrh. This L'Orchestre is the simplest note formulation in the group, and almost the one I prefer, though I like "Eau My Soul" better (if you haven't tried out the 4160 Tuesdays line you're missing out). Quality-wise kind of middle of the road performance, not worth the $180 Maxaroma wants, but the $90-100 range Jomashop normally charges for L'Orchestre seems reasonable, though they don't have this scent in stock at the moment. Carner "Ambar Del Sur" and 4160 Tuesdays "Eau My Soul" are also in that price range (The Prada is discontinued (idiots) and the prices the eBay scalpers want are ridiculous.) I would say get a decant first. ScentSplit.com has the L'Orchestre for $3.99, the Carner for $4.99, the 4160 Tuesdays for $5.99. If you try all three I suspect you'll go for the 4160 Tuesdays "Eau My Soul." Good Luck and Good Hunting!

It took me some time to realize, but I quite adore this. Describing accurately what perfume smells like is almost always impossible, but I would say this is quite the similar experience to smelling sweet tea. Not the already brewed tea, but the dried tea. Like the smell of tea, it is very soft and inviting. Very pleasant. A bit spicy. It really evokes the lacquered surface of a cello! Quite masterfully made. There is quite some complexity to it. It is quite similar to Thé Darbouka somehow (they both have a tea-spicy sweetness), which I really like as well. In my opinion, it’s more a sweet-spicy woody composition. Although there is not one single wood note listed, the impression of cello varnish is strong. I find it very inviting, however, I don’t think it’s for everyone. It has a lot of character, and takes the right person. It's definitely worth trying out, and I would definitely say it's genderless.

Ambre Cello is warm, round, and sweet. It does in fact make me think of both the sorrowful, melancholic timbre of the cello and the scent from its guts – the cozy, sweet, tobacco-like scent of wood, varnish, and dust which can be found if one sticks one's nose into a cello's F-holes. I will probably not wear Ambre Cello to work or social gatherings anytime soon – it makes me feel too introverted and retrospective for that. But for studying, meditating, or a funeral? I will look no further.

If you like warm sweet and spicy Amber...you'll love this. Quite amber heavy. But it's smooth and good quality. I would say compleatly unisex aswell x

A softened amber to the point it becomes creamy, ice creaming with a soft juicy touch of citrus

Since no one has reviewed this yet, I decided to give my sample of this another wear so I could do so. I want to start off by saying what I originally wasn’t planning to review this since I feel pretty meh about it, but hopefully it will be useful to someone who’s been curious to try Ambre Cello. So here’s the thing. I love amber perfumes, and because of this Ambre Cello was the one I was most excited to try from L’orchestre Parfum, which I think is a house that’s really quite remarkable. However, I was so disappointed to spray this and immediately be reminded of... Sable Fauve by Yves Rocher. Not only is Sable Fauve considerably more affordable, it also bears more than a little resemblance to... Flowerbomb. No, Ambre Cello is not a dupe for Flowerbomb. It’s considerably softer and less sugary. It certainly smells more complex, and not cheap at all. But do I want to pay 140 euros for a perfume that reminds me of my, and so many others, teenage signature scent? No, I do not. Ambre Cello just seems completely superfluous to me. I feel bad saying that considering I hold L’orchestre Parfum in high regard, and the nose behind Ambre Cello also created Bouquet Encore, my favourite offering from the brand. Everyone’s skin chemistry is different, and maybe this would be the perfect amber to many other noses. I just personally cannot get over how much this reminds me of other designer perfumes, albeit certainly more refined and higher quality. I know that the notes are so, so different, so I can’t even explain where the similarities come from. Maybe it’s the bergamot and the benzoin, maybe my nose is broken. I don’t know, I just know that I cannot stop thinking “high school” while wearing Ambre Cello. Longevity isn’t great, 3 hours and it’s a skin scent. It’s not a bad perfume, but it’s a no from me.

As so many have written, the opening is rough. A sharp candied violet is what I smell the first 5 minutes. But then it goes away, and I can enjoy the actual fragrance for the rest of its lifetime. The rest is ok. It's not exactly blowing my mind in any way. It's pleasant, warming and sweet. Personal score: 6/10

Very bad, considering the price and the fact that this is a niche house, which should be making more adventorous, different scents Forgettable, synthetic and sweet amber (ambroxan) + citrus. Smells like mid-range designer. Not even enjoyable to me (would be for many others though) Hard pass

I found this quite unpleasant. Really syrupy and surprisingly high pitched - I totally get the comparison with Flower Bomb. On top of that, it's not really exciting either - this hardly adds anything new to the amber genre. Perhaps worth checking out if you are a real amber lover, but this does not do anything for me.

There seems more to this than the notes let on but the entire composition is soft and golden. It feels like there is something floral hiding in here too like a hint of rose and jasmine. It's not an overbearing and heavy amber or incense and the tonka and vanilla add a beautiful sweetness without tipping it into gourmand territory. A solid like but probably not thrilling enough at the price point.

nice little thing.. kind of reminds me of limited edition Dolce&Gabbana The One Mysterious Night (the red one), which I really wanted but couldn’t find a full bottle anywhere.. and this one is even more interesting. simple, pleasant, appealing. I really wanted something like this, sometimes you just want something simple, warm and heartfelt. very nice

I'm pleasantly surprised by this one. Although I already own Grand Soir by MFK, this one is more smoky and resinous with a bright zing from the bergamot that makes it unique. I've added a full bottle to my collection :)

Pierre-Constantin Guéros works seem playful with a touch of classic style. Love this for colder weather.
