Gothic IV Perfume Oil

Just tried a sample from Luckyscent. I enjoy Gothic I and II the most. Gothic V was cheap and rubbery smelling. OK, so IV is nice. It's mostly a very unique woody smell. I have reviewed over 400 frags, and I never smelled a wood anything like this. The Patchouli is the least noticable note, its mostly a wood dominant frag, with a geranium accord, with some unique spice. Gothic IV fits the best to the name "Gothic", because it does smell like a wet Gothic dungeon, with mold and old sour wood smell. It's quite pleasant though. Its not a complex fragrance, its just one linier fragrance accord. It's very unique and pleasant, but I will enjoy my sample, and will not purchase. I think I would get familiar and a bit bored with it, if I wore it a while. If woods are your favorite note, this is worth a try. Rating: 8/10 God bless. John 3:16

Since Im the only one reviewing this, I may as well add another... I was enjoying another sample of Gothic IV, and decided I need the oil, and ordered a 7ml from Lucky Scent. Well I thought that this would get old, because its a linier fragrance, but its so unique and enjoyable, I thought I need it for my collection. You can think of it as I do, as the #1 Geranium fragrance in the world; better than Diptyque or Frederic Malle. It is also one of my top woody fragrances! I will try to hype this, so people can know it.

I totally disagree with the reviewer below: Gothic IV is patchouli heavy. I’d say patchouli first, geranium second, and woods third. As another reviewer said on Luckyscent, “This is a patchouli beast!!!!” That said, it’s a high quality straight ahead patchouli star. I’m not even a patchouli fan, and I like this. It’s not a cheap head shop oil, and it’s not the patchouli of a men’s barber shop either but a natural, dry patchouli. I’m originally from Missouri and this fragrance reminds me of standing in the woods, though it doesn’t *smell like* the woods. It also reminds me of the song “Going to California” by Led Zeppelin, a place where I can see Gothic IV would find its audience. If I had an extra $110 just lying around, or I found an incredible deal on Gothic IV, I’d pick up a bottle. Since I don’t though, I’ll tell you Aura Cacia makes a potent geranium essential oil, blend it with Eden Botanicals light patchouli and you’ll pretty much have Gothic IV.

Fresher than the other LR Gothic series I’ve tried, but remains a very dark fragrance. Rose geranium is balanced with a sturdy woody patchouli. I don’t smell a separate “spice,” rather it seems to be facets of the geranium, which is barbershop-fresh without going astringent. Gothic IV seems mostly a two-note duet, but does so effectively, really highlighting the best aspects of the ingredients. An extremely powerful perfume oil, this is punchy and lasts all day.

This fragrance is sooooo heavily geranium and pachouli. Beast mode for sure. While I always try to find the upside of every fragrance because I understand the complexities of creating these wonders but I can't with this one. To me it is serious furnie polish.
